Normally I like this groomer, but I recently had my senior dog, Lola, groomed there. They know she has sensitive skin because they've seen her before and I bring a special shampoo. After the grooming, I woke up to see what I thought was a vaginal prolapse on Lola, but after an emergency visit to the vet, I was told it is a swollen vulva caused by the grooming. For a week after the vet, she was very uncomfortable. If I didn't keep her sedated, she screamed and cried. Poor girl was in so much pain. I ended up having to take her to the vet a second time to get reevaluated because she just wasn't getting better. I told the groomer she had a bad reaction but they never followed up, didn't even call to ask me how she was. Disappointed. read more

Had a bad experience. Hoped to have a good groomer according to the reviews, but got disappointed. I asked to wash and brush my dog and only if needed to trim her a little bit, I loved the length and really didn't want a haircut. I specifically asked don't touch her hair on her head since I've been growing it since I got the dog. This breed requires a lot of hair on their head. I showed the picture as an example. I asked if they do decide to trim her please not go short since the dog has double coat and it's winter I want to grow it.the price for a wash $100 for a haircut $150. I guess they wanted to make more $$ and cut my dog. Needless to say everything I asked was disregarded. My dog comes out with the short hair I didn't want and absolutely no hair on her head besides the bangs. Did I say anything about bangs?! no I said I love that hair on her head , please leave it! On top of that when we came home I scrubbed the dog behind her ear and found and huge hair knot, I brushed it off. I checked her ears they were dirty inside and not trimmed inside. Later on at night I found another knot in her beard, btw I mentioned I would love to grow her beard and chest and neck hair, guess what my dog doesn't have a neck hair no more but has some chest hair and a stupid bangs. I begged the groomers before I left the dog to please listen and don't do extra, because this is a rare breed they need to be groomed properly and don't look like clowns. It's important for their personality and the puppy is still 8 months old. I paid my $150 and left the place almost crying. Today I'm dealing with a scratchy dog and rush on her belly from the cutting machine. Thank you guys! They were rude and disrespectful. Apparently the don't need new customers. read more

I love this place! I have been coming here for years now (my dog is featured in one of the pics!). I like to treat my dog to a spa every year on her birthday and the staff here does the job right and with a lot of love behind it. For my small dog, they charge $35 and last year they even included a teeth brushing for free. All I Gotta say is I lived in Shadow Hills for many years and took their services for granted! I moved to Eastern San Diego County and I went looking for a good groomer. I love Sparkle & Shine! I've been bringing my Bichon Frise here for a couple years and Jessica does an amazing, perfect job grooming him! They're very reasonably priced, and Rupert comes home looking like he's ready for a dog show with his jaunty little bandanas that are always themed for whatever holiday is coming up. They do take a bit longer than other groomers I have been to but they like to take their time with the pups so as to not overwhelm them. When I first started bringing Rupert here like with other groomers he would hear the blow dryer and dogs barking and try to run the other way, but now when he sees Jessica he perks right up and isn't scared. :) I moved far away from this place but still take Rupe here cuz they are the BEST! read more

My dogs came back to me happy, hydrated, and unharmed. This is a big concern for me as I have heard dozens of horror stories about animals being grossly mistreated at the groomers (everything from cuts, cutting off the tips of ears, to death). The cuts my two dogs received were okay, a little choppy in places. the waiting area leaves much to be desired, but i like that you can see the grooming table and area where the dogs are held, very transparent. but i would absolutely bring my dogs back here because i trust they will be well cared for. read more
