Despite reviews of customer service being bad, we still checked it out. We love small town restaurants and this is definitely one. The decor fit the place very well and it was honestly very southern. The whole feel was hometown and reminded me of my grandmother. The food was delicious and the staff was amazing. They kept our drinks full and brought everything without asking. I will be stopping at this restaurants every time I head through Astor! I stopped in on my way back from the Daytona area and I will now be stopping every time. I had their signature burger, swamp burger. It's a burger covered in fries, cheese, bacon, chives, and their signature sauce. In no way is it good for your waist line, but it is good for your soul. The staff was friendly to an out-of-towner, which doesn't always happen in small rural towns. LOVED IT! I cannot rave enough about it! read more

Just left.. full as all get out. Food was great. We got the swamp fries they were so good. Myself and my mom got the coconut shrimp and they were really good. My husband loved the patty melt. Sweet potato fries are great! But the star was my daughter's spaghetti with meat sauce. It smelled amazing. It was a huge plate and she commented on it being the best spaghetti she has ever had in a restaurant. She had to get a to go box because of the generous helping. Sparky's is a great hidden gem in Astor, Florida. They have items ranging from salads, burgers to Italian homemade pasta dishes. It is a great family restaurant as well. The customer service is excellent and I always feel welcomed when i decide to go there and have a meal. They have daily specials which by the way the meatloaf is amazing and I hardly eat meatloaf anywhere unless I make it at home. read more

Found this cute little country restaurant on our way to Silver Springs State Park. It's located in a little town called Astro, Fl on route 40. We knew it was going to be good when the restaurant was filled to capacity with locals who were very friendly and welcoming. The service by Raven was exceptional especially after we mentioned hubby had celiac. She made sure all the food was gluten free. We recommend the Swai grilled fish and the Greek salad. The problem was the quantity and quality of the food. The sandwich was a somewhat narrow 6" bun with a single fish filet barely the size of the bun. Sparky's is one of those local gems where friends meet and locals gather, but as an out of towner we were treated with the same kindness. The little yellow building doesn't look like much on the outside but it's cozy and clean inside. The coffee was good and smooth, not bitter. I love that it is served with real half and half, and real butter for your bread too! That's rare. The breakfast platters are huge. I had the corned beef hash with fresh sliced corn beef, tasty but a little salty. My husband had the veggie omelet. He would definitely ask to leave out the American cheese next time. Way too much. The biscuits are soft and thick. Maybe a little too thick for some of us. The grits, home fries, toast, and sausage were all prepared just right. We also ordered one bear cake with dried fruit and nuts. Enormous! Loved the fruit and nuts but it was a little doughy in the center. Ask for extra crispy. My mother lives near here, in Astor. It's a great place where the bears outnumber humans. Sparky's has a metric ton of local color, and is where the locals dine. You can ask about the huntin, fishin, and anything else what ends in N. The food is great, the swamp burger is great, and the breakfast is worth the stop. The Swamp Burger was a delicious smothering you dream about. Not only were the toppings good, the burger itself was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It had a nice char and was one of the better burgers I've had. The pizza was great too. Fresh ingredients, superb garlic butter crust.
