Movers arrived on time and worked efficiently to move our 2br/1ba across the city. They were careful when packing TVs and a couple other fragile things we couldn't get to ahead of time. One things to be aware of is their price for extra boxes and moving supplies is quite expensive (as was the case with most other moving services). So be sure to go out and get extra boxes and supplies ahead of time (bubble wrap, packing paper, picture boxes, etc). The worst experience! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Don't fall for their "local, family owned bs." I moved last July, they damaged my (($1200) mattress by their careless employees. These guys dragged my mattress while my stuff was in their storage. (Ripped out the whole side). And they offered me $76.00, like what a joke. When you file a claim, it's another whole story. They don't pickup the phone and when you leave a voicemail, no calls. I called the sales rep and she was started yelling at for calling her for the claim. UPDATE: we attempted to reason with owner about getting some money back for the services not performed even though we paid for them and were part of contract. Though we gave plentiful information on the destination and options for getting into the house, an 18-wheeler shows up with just two guys (inc. driver) and absolutely unequipped to handle the amount of stuff and certainly not the piano they charged extra for special handling of. As a matter of fact, they truck driver was unaware if the piano was even on his truck until enough stuff was removed to discover it. All items are stacked to the ceiling of the truck and most boxes are clearly crushed well-beyond anything they were designed to handle. Even though the contract had provisions for things like a smaller vehicle to transfer if the 18-wheeler could not gain access, the truck driver was completely unaware and certainly unprepared to handle this. We ended up having to negotiate with the local police to let us block a major road for many hours to complete the job because there was no other option. Even the quoting process is designed to be a bait-n-switch. They supposedly quote you an estimated weight based on actual inspection of your stuff, but then they charge you a weight minimum far beyond the initial quote so it kind of begs the question of whether or not these folks understand what a quote even is. Why quote anything if you will not charge less than the minimum for 6,500 lbs. Regardless, the "actual weight" (never supported by any documentation and not produced when requested) ends up being MUCH higher than anything estimated or even the minimum so I am not sure even sure which part they are scamming you on from the initial quote to the "actual" weight that comes in double the initial estimate. Worst of all, even though we paid for all these services that were not delivered upon, we ended up having to help with the move of larger items as well as reassemble many things that were broken down by the movers on the ship side and were told they would reassemble, but we had to end up doing because they refused to assemble anything but the largest items (beds, dressers, etc.). Lastly, major damage was caused to items as well as the floors of the new house we are renting since they did not have enough manpower to properly transfer the stuff. So if you go with this company, then prepare to pay at least double what was quoted and do not expect to get your stuff delivered in decent condition by enough people to handle the move on the other end. read more

We used Spartan Moving Systems for our home move. The team was friendly and cooperative. They showed up on time and finished within the time frame we were given. Nothing went missing. HOWEVER, THEY LEFT NUMEROUS SCRATCHES ON OUR FURNITURE (see example in first picture). I contacted the office and they sent someone to inspect. We showed them the scratches and we were asked if we were certain they did not preexist. Of course we were certain and we showed them a large mark on the wall right next to a bed they assembled (as in the second picture) in our freshly painted new home, as further evidence of the carelessness of their team. In addition, I had watched them unpacking the furniture upon arrival at the new place and I got alarmed by the fact that they were stacking pieces of furniture one on top of the other, without any cushioning or other separation to protect the surfaces. In addition the chairs of the dining set had marks, where one would expect if they were placed one inside the other in the truck! Terrible! So much for the blankets they used.. I suppose this crew did not appreciate that moving a home is not the same as moving a business, where one would hardly care about scratches. After the inspection, we were told we would be contacted soon, as they had to make internal enquires. We heard nothing and had to call them after weeks had passed. In the end we were offered a discount which we did not accept. What we were after was a restoration of our furniture. They then gave us their insurance details and finally, after months had passed, we received from the insurance $246, which we thought was a joke!! Do what with it? Repair which piece? The insurance covers losses by weight, which I now understand is standard practice in the industry. I do not blame the team as much as the management. It would appear that they received no proper training. The crew did not even stop for lunch, which I think is irresponsible from the management. I offered them bananas for quick lunch and plenty of water throughout the day which they appreciated. They got tired in the end and left several boxes, marked for certain rooms, in the garage. We did not mind that. We could move the boxes ourselves. They would still get 5 stars. But the scratches on our furniture is indefensible and unforgiving. 2 Stars read more

I allowed them to remedy before posting this negativity Both David (owner) and Ashish spoke over me and talked down to me forcing me to raise my voice. They know how stressful a move can be and did not properly remedy the situation. Because of that, I'm posting my experience. I hate to be so negative publicly but these are facts. They claim they are professional for the past 20 years and do not accept my claim. You cannot argue with facts and with adult several witnesses. They will claim that I didn't read the contract and they will claim that I failed to properly communicate to them. They claim they are not responsible for the Yelp form and that they didn't know I had a 4 bedroom house however the form requires you to input it. They expected me to communicate that again to them by email. They took zero responsibility of their lacking of how to ensure customer satisfaction. The owner offered to deduct 1.5 hours and send a crew to complete assembly but won't move the rest of my items without charging me more money. At this point, it isn't about money but more so the job isn't completed after 12 hours. The owner doesn't care about how I feel because he has 20 years of reputable service and I'm apparently the only one to have ever complained. The movers were unprofessional and came ill prepared to move my house. The truck was simply too small. The men requested to not wear their face mask even though it is the law given the pandemic. I shouldn't have to confront them on this or be put in the position to police them. This creates a health risk that the company doesn't enforce good health practice. They did not keep their distance to myself or my family while not covering their face properly. Three men were small and inadequate to move a full house. The workers lacked experience in disassembly/reassembly. I was told they are professional and could do it all. It is unacceptable to take over one hour to disassemble one bed! When escalated, David said he disagrees that it took one hour. How do you argue facts and that I have witnesses? He wouldn't accept my word as if I'm trying to get over on him. I just want my stuff moved! I was told that I didn't need to unload the dresser and that they could just tape it up and move. I had to unload all the dressers and clothes were left in the closet. I ended up doing a lot of the manual work myself. They took numerous hours to disassemble and did not completely reassembly all of my furniture that was disassembled. They did not secure my items in the truck and we had to notify them to pull over before the stereo fell out of the truck. Instead of unloading and assembling my furniture, 2 men worked on organizing and cleaning their truck. They say it was part of the details that I failed to read. Just for readers to know, you are paying an hour for them to clean and tidy their trucks. I shouldn't have to babysit movers to ensure they weren't screwing around. The movers left all the tape and garbage at my new house which is unacceptable. Other than a couple of yellow dot boxes that I had asked to moved to the garage, the movers placed many red/green labeled boxes in the garage which is the wrong destination. The movers argued with me that the tall dresser wasn't labeled and belonged in the garage. I had to tell them many times to move it to the office and they argued with me. When they remove their padding, you will find two labels (see photos). I shouldn't have to be put in the position to argue with them. My family had to reassembly the dining room table and office table so I can't show pictures of that. I can only show pictures of how they left the backyard. Furthermore, I still have another truck load of stuff that I need to move. The owner refused to send another truck because I asked the movers to stop. The job began after 8am and ended at 8:20pm. Essentially, not only are they unprofessional but the owner is promoting poor labor practice expecting their employees to work beyond 12 hours into the middle of the night. The highlight of it all, when I addressed the situation, Ashish hung up on me. They will claim because I was yelling at them. He was blaming me for everything. They didn't apologize. At the end of the day, it wasn't so much about the money but the fact that it was 12 hours + and the job wasn't done. I should mention, they didn't charge me for a couple of boxes.... but charged me for 13 hours (driving time is doubled) . I rather have paid for the couple of boxes and had a completed job in a reasonable amount of time. My friend moved from SJ to Gilroy with a 3 bed/2 bath and only took 4 hours. If I was wrong in the estimate, the moving company should have quickly remedy the situation and sent a new truck and adequate team. That would have been professional and the right thing to do. Superior movers!!! They are painfully careful and respectful of your property. For me, half of the stuff they packed up I couldn't care less if it had gotten dinged or whatever, but they took their time on every single thing, taking extra precautions with glass items which felt really good to see. I was most impressed with how efficiently they packed the truck and ultimately what wound up being our POD waiting at our new property. Let's just say that my family owns too much crap and their was no way it was all going to fit in the POD we got, so we prepped the garage to hold the overflow. In the end (with the exception of the stuff that belonged in the garage anyway) they managed to fit everything in the POD. It was a masterclass in Tetris; no minuscule pocket of space from floor to ceiling was wasted. It was kind of unbelievable, but they did it. We'll be enthusiastically hiring them back again to help us unload the POD when the house is ready. My wife and and I have moved a lot over the last several years and honestly all of our experiences have been positive. I just completed an interstate move using Spartan. Needless to say, it was not the best move I had experienced. The pickup people were great. They packed up and moved me out of my 3-bedroom townhouse in 4.5 hours. The issues started on the other side. Due to my house being in the condition I expected, I needed to reschedule the move. I wanted to wait until Thursday, however the person from Spartan stated 'Wednesday would be better for them' and then told me dispatch would give me 2 hours warning. I was told the window in which they would deliver. I didn't receive a call until the truck was a half an hour away. As I stated before, the house was not ready for the delivery. When I got to the house, I had to tell the driver could not accept the shipment at this time. I had been unable to get a call back from Spartan. When Spartan finally called me. they said there would be a $1,200.00 rescheduling fee. i rescheduled the move to Saturday. I then went over the contract and could not find anything in the contract regarding rescheduling fees. I contacted Spartan and was told it was on the 'post contract services form.' I found the cost and asked how was I to know the cost since I never told the amount of cubic feet. The representative stated they don't tell people the cubic feet so they are not surprised. (wrong answer). I asked to speak to a manager regarding this issue. Surprise, no one ever called me back. The movers appeared and would not unload the truck until I had given them the additional $1,200. I let them know they could not move any items into the front bedroom. So instead of sorting the boxes to the correct areas they stacked all the boxes in the dining room. The move also destroyed my desk and they refused to move the couch into the house until my contractor took down a light fixture. Asked what they would have done if the contractor had not been there, they answered 'leave in the front yard.' Needless to say, I won't be hiring them again anytime soon. read more

We hired Spartan to move our furniture and belongings from one side of Cambrian to another. On moving day, a team of 3 showed up right on time and quickly emptied out our 3 bedroom house. I noticed they were very careful with handling our stuff, making sure each piece was safely wrapped. They also provided wardrobe boxes for me the shove all my clothes in to transport to my new home. When we arrived at our new home shortly after, the Spartan team were very careful not to damage our newly painted walls and refinished hardwood floors. David (owner), Ashish and team did a fantastic job with my move. I booked 2 trucks (thank God I did) for my local move. 2 days before my move, I called the office to double check. Ashish was not there and the gentleman on the phone told me the standard for local move was 1 truck and he has no record of my ask for 2 trucks. To make matters worse, it was the end of the month and they ran out of trucks. However, he offered to check Ashish's work email. 5 minutes later, he called me and confirmed I was right and they will go rent a truck to move me on Saturday. They were methodical and yet moved at a good pace. We moved 30 miles, they wasted no time during the commute. This is my 6th move in 10 years. Best movers in the bay I've seen! I found spartan on yelp n was convinced with the stars! Communication was very efficient with David, a great boss as the men say! The guys took their time, packed every piece of furniture with moving blankets. Made sure everything was packed well. Pablo, Mario and Julio were all sweet, made no fuss about anything and accommodated all my needs. We moved from a 2bed - 2level apartment to a 3bed - 3 leveled townhome. It took about 6 hours including transportation. They also made sure to lay mats on stairs, and blankets on railing to avoid banging into it. I wish i took pictures !!! The movers did a good job - nothing was broken or damaged at all during the move and they handled my oversized couch with ease. However, it took them *8* hours to wrap furniture and load and unload my boxes and furniture from the truck. I've moved many times and with three movers working the job it should take more like 3-4 hours in total. They then asked me for $250 per mover for a tip. If I'd given them that much, my move would have cost $2300 which is eye-watering for just a 1 bedroom. Keep in mind I packed nearly everything myself, I only needed Spartan to wrap furniture and larger items like mirrors. If they were packing up my whole house than 8 hours would have been incredibly fast. read more
