    Notice boxes crushed and not stacked efficiently

    Long distance move-out of state, worst experience of our lives. Would give zero stars if I could. UPDATE: we attempted to reason with owner about getting some money back for the services not performed even though we paid for them and were part of contract. He (David K.) took no responsibility for anything, refused to refund any money, and just pushed us to submit a claim form to seek resolution. After this, we double-confirmed with him his insurance only covered damage and not non-performance of services so he caught in yet another deception for pushing us to file a claim doomed to fail before it is even reviewed. DO NOT BE SCAMMED!!! HIGHLY SUGGEST TAKING YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE...THEY WILL JUST GIVE A LOW-BALL QUOTE AND CHARGE DOUBLE ANYWAY SO IT IS WORTH PAYING FOR SOMEONE RESPECTABLE AND HONEST. ALSO SUGGEST CHECK COMPLAINTS WITH CA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE...GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MOVE! FULL STORY: This was an absolutely painful and awful experience that is a complete bait-n-switch once they have your stuff. Everything was great on the pickup end with four guys to help move everything and excellent documentation, etc. On the receiving end though is a completely different story. Though we gave plentiful information on the destination and options for getting into the house, an 18-wheeler shows up with just two guys (inc. driver) and absolutely unequipped to handle the amount of stuff and certainly not the piano they charged extra for special handling of. As a matter of fact, they truck driver was unaware if the piano was even on his truck until enough stuff was removed to discover it. All items are stacked to the ceiling of the truck and most boxes are clearly crushed well-beyond anything they were designed to handle. Even though the contract had provisions for things like a smaller vehicle to transfer if the 18-wheeler could not gain access, the truck driver was completely unaware and certainly unprepared to handle this. We ended up having to negotiate with the local police to let us block a major road for many hours to complete the job because there was no other option. Even the quoting process is designed to be a bait-n-switch. They supposedly quote you an estimated weight based on actual inspection of your stuff, but then they charge you a weight minimum far beyond the initial quote so it kind of begs the question of whether or not these folks understand what a quote even is. Why quote anything if you will not charge less than the minimum for 6,500 lbs. Regardless, the "actual weight" (never supported by any documentation and not produced when requested) ends up being MUCH higher than anything estimated or even the minimum so I am not sure even sure which part they are scamming you on from the initial quote to the "actual" weight that comes in double the initial estimate. Worst of all, even though we paid for all these services that were not delivered upon, we ended up having to help with the move of larger items as well as reassemble many things that were broken down by the movers on the ship side and were told they would reassemble, but we had to end up doing because they refused to assemble anything but the largest items (beds, dressers, etc.). Lastly, major damage was caused to items as well as the floors of the new house we are renting since they did not have enough manpower to properly transfer the stuff. So if you go with this company, then prepare to pay at least double what was quoted and do not expect to get your stuff delivered in decent condition by enough people to handle the move on the other end.

    We used Spartan Moving Systems for our home move. The team was friendly and cooperative. They showed up on time and finished within the time frame we were given. Nothing went missing. HOWEVER, THEY LEFT NUMEROUS SCRATCHES ON OUR FURNITURE (see example in first picture). I contacted the office and they sent someone to inspect. We showed them the scratches and we were asked if we were certain they did not preexist. Of course we were certain and we showed them a large mark on the wall right next to a bed they assembled (as in the second picture) in our freshly painted new home, as further evidence of the carelessness of their team. In addition, I had watched them unpacking the furniture upon arrival at the new place and I got alarmed by the fact that they were stacking pieces of furniture one on top of the other, without any cushioning or other separation to protect the surfaces. In addition the chairs of the dining set had marks, where one would expect if they were placed one inside the other in the truck! Terrible! So much for the blankets they used.. I suppose this crew did not appreciate that moving a home is not the same as moving a business, where one would hardly care about scratches. After the inspection, we were told we would be contacted soon, as they had to make internal enquires. We heard nothing and had to call them after weeks had passed. In the end we were offered a discount which we did not accept. What we were after was a restoration of our furniture. They then gave us their insurance details and finally, after months had passed, we received from the insurance $246, which we thought was a joke!! Do what with it? Repair which piece? The insurance covers losses by weight, which I now understand is standard practice in the industry. I do not blame the team as much as the management. It would appear that they received no proper training. The crew did not even stop for lunch, which I think is irresponsible from the management. I offered them bananas for quick lunch and plenty of water throughout the day which they appreciated. They got tired in the end and left several boxes, marked for certain rooms, in the garage. We did not mind that. We could move the boxes ourselves. They would still get 5 stars. But the scratches on our furniture is indefensible and unforgiving. 2 Stars

    One of three furniture not put back together and they claim its because I told them to stop working past 8pm.

They sent two wonderful guys who were so efficient and hard-working. We were not able to finish everything in one day so I requested that they come back the next week for another session of packing. Both times, they arrived exactly when they said they would and brought all the moving materials in their truck so I did not have to pre-buy anything. I even needed special boxes for artwork and wine bottles and they provided those as well. I thought the price was very reasonable for what they did. I was not able to use them for the moving truck because I am moving out of state. (However, the owner said he would soon be getting the out-of-state license so that will be a service that is available in the future.) I'm happy to provide my highest recommendation for this company and the people who work there.

    Finally getting around to a kudos review of Lunardi Moving Services…read more Executive Summary: Pros all the way. That said, the details: We were recommended to Lunardi for our short distance move within San Jose by friends who had previously contracted with them for their own local moves (Silicon Valley). We had them move our "packed to the gills" 1400 sq ft home plus loaded two-car garage to a slightly larger home about 2.5 miles away from each other. Initial price quote was a bit higher than a couple of the other companies contacted but felt it was worthwhile and still reasonable given that they were a "friend-recommended" company. Our final payment amount did come out a bit higher at the end of the day but that was due to OUR adding more to the load than what I originally told them that required a second round trip. On top of that, we had them haul away and dispose of a number of large items that we decided to not hassle with selling or otherwise disposing of ourselves. (Large cabinets, desk, chairs and more.) The moving crew was on time, started right in as soon as they got to our place and took extra time being VERY CAREFUL with our more fragile items (and honestly, items that weren't even what I would have considered that fragile). Meaning: they went over and above by plastic wrapping and padding things that I personally would have just thrown in a truck! Special notes: They also moved our baby grand piano, taking care to disassemble the legs and top, wrapping everything with padding and reassembling perfectly at our destination. When I moved a dozen years ago, I had to have a specialty mover move the piano so this was a definite plus!! And, on top of that, they moved a very large "crafting cabinet" with swing out doors (that contain integral storage making it double deep) and moved it into its destination room whose entrance hall way and door was barely wide enough to fit through and required a very tight turn/maneuver to get it in! I had walked away from watching them in the tight hallway (see pic) to do something else and when I returned less than five minutes later, it was in the room exactly where it was supposed to go. I was scratching my head wondering, "How did they do that?!" But no matter, they did! They were also careful in making sure that related items (like TVs and their remote controls or tables and their legs) were bundled together and securely affixed to each other so it minimized our having to look all over for items that went together. That was much appreciated. All in all, they made our move very smooth and efficient. If I were moving again - which I NEVER want to do again, haha! - will call Lunardi first. Special shout out to Daniel Navarro, our "moving consultant" at Lunardi for being prompt, courteous and a pleasure to work with. But, have to say that everyone on the crew were excellent! Yup, pros all the way!

So I knew no matter how long the move took and with the long distances, I already knew how much the max cost would be up front with no surprises. And they also offer a discount based on the way you paid them. WINNING! And so, I didn't use Pure Moving just once, but three times this month. The first time, I had to move from Union City to a storage facility in Elk Grove and this past weekend we had two teams going, one from San Jose to Elk Grove and the other from the storage facility to our new home. Pure Moving was perfect in all ways possible. They were professional, prompt, efficient, and super friendly. They handled and wrapped items with care and made you feel at ease that everything was going to be safe and secure. They disassembled furniture as needed and reassembled it on site. One great detail, they laid down plastic protectors everywhere to keep things clean and tidy where they would be stepping. And cleaned up all the plastic wrap/coverings, cardboard and tape they used while packing and unpacking. They literally took care of all the heavy - and even the light - lifting! I just want to say thank you to Paul, Nick, Toha, Dan and Symon for taking care of our move and my Family. Moving is already stressful but they made it Pure-ly AWESOME!

Their pricing is competitive and more affordable than all of the places I consulted for a mid-distance move. Lee and Yu arrived just as scheduled at 8:30am. They got right to moving, I was blown away by how quickly they mobilized because my old place has a small elevator and not the easiest to maneuver, especially considering I lived on the 3rd floor. Yes, there was expected traffic between destinations, but the unloading at the new destination was just as efficient despite a very long day of moving. The final cost was lower than I expected and there were no surprises from what I was quoted initially. Please tip these guys well - I tipped more than the recommended hourly tip rate. They work hard, carefully, and efficiently. I am recommending them 10/10 to my friends and to the Yelp community.

Then a 2 hour drive to our location. Unload, put together the beds and other furnitures and done. 11 hours total. Pricing was the best out of 7 that I looked at. Didn't break anything and always had a smile when they had time to look and breath a bit. I recommend these guys 100%!
