Quick Context: In 2021, I used Spartan Termites to remediate pests upon buying my home. In 2023, I had them back out as part of our warranty to address some termite damage that emerged. The representative came out and was dismissive, all but refusing to treat. The advice given was: "You have ants, so let the ants eat the termites." This rubbed me the wrong way as a provider who was legally obligated to treat termites was not upholding their end of the deal. Issue: I reached out to Spartan on 1/21/25 via email requesting that they come out to address additional termite damage we found in our laundry room, and expressing that I felt blown off last time they were out, and would like to have it treated this time. They proceeded to email me back: 1) An apology for my experience, then 2) Inform me that the warranty has expired (fine, I didnt realize), and 3) offer to come treat at a cost, which is fair. I then declined, expressing that I will opt to pay another company given my previous experience with them, and as an executive in Retail, suggested improved customer experience would have retained me. My verbatim response: "Ok thanks Cody, I'll pay another group based on my initial experience with you all. Really should work on the customer experience if you want repeat customers. " Cody's series of emailed responses them became rude, incredibly unprofessional, and mocking my original experience with them. Verbatim response on 1/21 at 7:55PM: "Thanks, Matt. I'll take that into consideration for future clients. In the meantime don't worry about your termites. Just let the ants eat them. You'll be just fine." I had a Very bad Experience My living room ceiling was leaking. With a deck above it, I thought that was the source of the leak. I called Spartan Termite, because my neighbor had been happy with the work they did on their deck. to remove one piece of ship latch from my living room ceiling so I could see where the water emanated from. A very nice person came the next day - spent around 45 minutes removing the one piece of Ship latch. He took the piece with him. Before the work was done, I was assured that if the leak was not coming from the deck, then the $400 fee they charged for removing the one piece of ship latch wood included putting it back on. Low and behold, the leak was not coming from the deck. So I contacted the company to put the piece back on. I was under a deadline - since I had an upcoming tenant and could not leave the ceiling open. They sent me another contract asking for $1,500 to put up the one piece of ship latch. Here is what the owner of Spartan Termite emailed me: "$400 is my minimum to get somebody on site and does not include material nor does it include the time it takes to stain and try to match existing colors and styles that would be much more most likely somewhere around an additional $1000-$1200 we greatly appreciate the work that we did get and would love to do anything else you want done but as far as the contracted work, we have completed it in full under the guidelines of the contract " There was no reason to dispose of the piece that they removed in the first place - that was the first misstep. If they had saved the piece they removed, it would have taken someone less than an hour to put it back up. Total time for both removal and replacement 2 hours. I understand labor and equipment and benefits are expensive. But over $500/hour for one person? They knew I was under time pressure to get the place put back together. The appropriate response from Spartan Termite would have been to not just honor what was promised to me verbally (although not in the contract) but to assess what services were performed and what a reasonable fee for those services would be. Since I had been promised that if the leak was not from the deck, they would replace the board for the original fee of $400, I was not willing to pay them more than $1000 for that. I ended up hiring a handy person who I had to pay to get the board (since Spartan Termite removed it from my property) and put it up. Total cost: $250. Of course it took far more time to repair the ceiling than remove the one board. In response to the above, the owner wrote: "Hello ma'am, sorry you feel the need to do that but I don't dispute anything you said in your email and unfortunately, my position on this matter has not changed so you do what you gotta do I guessI " I regret having engaged Spartan Termite. They are the wrong people for what turned out to be a small job. Buyer Beware. read more

I know, getting your house tented is a real P.I.A. But if termites are eating your house from under you, Spartan will make it as easy as possible. Great communication, knowledgeable inspectors, wonderful customer service. Of course I waited until the day before tenting to double bag all my food. Last minute on a Sunday I called Cody and he came through with an extra 12 bags which we used for all the freezer and refrigerated items. And they took care of my house while it was being tented, making sure it was secure. When the tent came off they set the alarm for me until we came back from "vacation". Although we did have to file a complaint with the Structural Pest Control Board, once we did that, Cody's team completed the work to our satisfaction. This was a very lengthy, time consuming process that I hope others don't have to go through. I really can't recommend Spartan Termite enough! Cody and his team went above and beyond to repair termite damage in our new fixer-upper and to fumigate the house. They helped us to get a new door that needed replaced, some new wood for under the roof that also needed replaced, patch some minor holes in the ceiling from termites, and color matched new paint for everything. They even worked extra hours to get the job done on time, which was so generous. And all of the repairs look great!
