My husband and I went to Spearfish Grille for dinner last night Sept 19th was immediately greeted by the workers, very friendly, a very friendly atmosphere for sure. The restaurant is a seat yourself, we had no clue about what we wanted to eat. Our server Jeremy was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable on all the food on the menu and explained everything in great detail. I ordered something I would've never ordered in a million years ordered but he highly recommended it, I took his word for it and trust me, I was NOT disappointed. I ordered the sushi nachos, it was out of this world. The Sushi Nachos had rare ahi tuna over crispy fried wontons - avocado, rouse salsa - citrus soya glaze, and wasabi aioli drizzle, it was just spectacular! Not only did it look amazing it tasted amazing! Our waiter Jeremy was one of the best waiters I have ever had in any restaurant, kudos Jeremy! I highly recommend this restaurant!!! The ambiance here is what I call a hole in the wall. It's a good Floridian culture vibe. I took my guests who were out of state here. It gives them a wonderful experience of good food, good mood. This is not waterfront dining. Waterfront restrooms, yes. Parking lot dining. However, I like this place and would recommend it. Fresh seafood is terrific. Waitstaff is good. Mahi tacos. Yes! Seafood gumbo is the worst. It's not gumbo, but a tomato based watery weird soup with some shrimp and sausage in it. I couldn't eat it. So, it's a mixed bag. The lure of this place really tempted my family. The line was long, the ambiance was appealing and the yelp reviews looked pretty strong. We arrived at 5:30pm. Stood in line. The hostess told us we'd wait 30 minutes. Two hours later we were seated. I don't know why we didn't just go somewhere else sooner. We waited so long that we figured it must be worth the wait. What drove me nuts was there were several open tables just sitting there. The poor hostess was busing tables. Clearly the management was poor. My thought was, "okay the food will be great!" The ahi tuna nachos got rave reviews. I still don't think they were worth the wait. I would say the best thing about this place was the live music. My suggestion is to grab a drink, listen to the music while you play a few rounds of corn hole while you put your name in the restaurant down the street. It is honestly not worth the wait. I don't get the lure. The food was not particularly special. But the music was wonderful! We left the restaurant after 9:30pm. We even had to wait forever to get our bill. Good, but not great, however the atmosphere was incredible. Live music under the tiki hut truly made it an incredible experience. We ordered the hog fish tacos, grouper tacos, and tuna nachos. Tuna wasn't very fresh but all the toppings were delicious. The hog fish and grouper were a little bland but again all the toppings on it really made the taco. The key lime was honestly the best. Canned drinks only but they did have mixed drinks that are sold in a can, which were surprisingly very tasty. Worth checking out for the atmosphere for sure. read more

The "Hogfish" that they advertise really IS that good. Blackened filets - and I don't even like blackened - some of the best fish I've ever had. Don't come at 7 like we did and think there won't be a wait. But by 8 there were lots of tables open. Cornhole and Jenga make the wait less painful. Grouper cheeks were also delicious. He explained the menu bit by bit, the types of catches of day, what they taste like what pairs with what, knowledgeable about beer, etc. I could go on and on....our drinks came out quickly (take note they are beer and wine only). The food was just delicious. I had the new England chowder soup and my bf had the gumbo, yum! At the very beginning the service was absolutly amazing and the food was even better. I have 0 complants, just complements! The band that was playing had a very nice tune and the setting was very organised. I got the smash burger and fries and it was one of the best I have ever had! The grouper was probably the best part. They were out of the conch fritters so we ordered the grouper cheeks instead and they were hot and fresh with large chunks of meat. My sushi nachos were also good. I was with my family in a party of 11. We all ordered in groups of 3-4 at the counter. The last group of our larger group to order didn't get their food until we'll after we had all finished. We watched a couple other tables get food when they ordered after all of us. They were super busy. They apologized profusely and gave the two adults in group of four that didn't get their food drinks on the house. My aunt ordered coleslaw, which they didn't have and instead of asking her what she wanted instead, they just brought her out potato salad instead. We are not from here but from the east side, so very aware of the importance of social distancing and universal masks. I was very excited to see that they had while fried hog fish. I ordered the gumbo and the whole fish. The others ordered other apps: conch fritters (delish) and fried calamari (taste of oil and rubbery). The gumbo was horrible. It must have been cooking all day because it had the taste of burnt tomato paste and the shrimp and sausage was very overcooked. Then came the entree. But the waitress brought a fish sandwich! I didn't order that! I ordered the whole fish! The waitress (Jenna) said that she thought that Me and one of the other table mates ordered a sandwich. How in the heck can you mistake "whole fish" and "sandwich"? I'm not one to eat sandwiches for dinner and was very disappointed. Although she offered to make the order right, I had just overheard her tell the next table that the kitchen was backed up. The waitress was not that great. In overhearing another waiter give the types of fish fir the day that our waitress didn't mention and seeing they had stone crabs that she didn't mention ,really disappointed me. I hope others have a better experience By the way, the battered, fried hog fish in the sandwich was good. I just didn't get what I ordered. At the end, the waitress offered dessert for the mistake. If I owned a boat at that Marina I would be here all the time, get the food to go and eat on my boat - But I don't own a boat .... Great fish !
