We arrived early upon opening and were seated right away. Parking is a dream compared to the downtown location. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. Another benefit to getting there early is the discounted apps. We enjoyed an order of deviled eggs and some seasoned buttery rolls. My advice is not to order the rolls; they're tasty, but honestly, it's just bread, and if you only want to opt for one or two apps, it just seems like a bit of a waste, but that's just me. I don't eat seafood; my family loves it, so I ordered the veggie risotto. Dannnnng, it was so good, and it was extremely filling and enough to feed like five people. I took most of it home and got like two meals out of it. We were too full to really enjoy the dessert, but we split a cobbler three ways, and that one bite was sinfully good. read more

I got the blackened scamp and it was fantastic with green beans and grits, it was delicious. My husband got the shrimp and grits and it was absolutely amazing! So we've been to the original OFC in Sarasota but we decided to try this one after we went to a movie. It's way different layout wise and much newer. Sat at the bar on very comfy barstools. Had a terrific server/bartender. Drinks were good. They were very nice and fun to talk with. Foodwise, my partner said her salad was ok but she'd order something different next time. Her truffle fries were very excellent though. I got the Cobia which was 4 1/2 stars. Really good ! All in all a very nice place and we will go there again. read more

If you love the vibe of the original Owen's downtown but dread the wait or the tight squeeze, the Lakewood Ranch location is a game changer. It's a bigger, more spacious version located in the newly built area of LWR, and they nailed the atmosphere. The outdoor space is fantastic, there's a huge screened-in patio where you can enjoy live music without worrying about the bugs or the heat. It's the perfect setup for a relaxing meal, and because of the size, it is great for large groups or bringing the whole family. Already a fan of Owen's Fish Camp having visited the Downtown Sarasota location at least two or three times. This location is the newer of the two and I have become a fan. I love the coastal vibe inside and out. Our server was Madi and she gave great recommendations, she checked on us, & made sure we were happy with what we ordered. Def excellent service with all of whom we came across. Really liked our food that we ordered. That included the deviled eggs, fried catfish, and chicken. I came here with a party of ten and we were all so excited to try seafood as our first meal in Florida! We were seated after about 10-15 minutes, and our server Rebecca was amazing. She was attentive, responsive, and incredibly helpful. She walked us through the menu, gave us recommendations, and was so patient with us. Got here at 4 pm on Saturday to celebrate my daughter in laws birthday- eating early as my 7 mo granddaughter was along for the ride. There was a line prior to opening but we were seated immediately once the doors opened. Service was great. Several of us got the frozen drink of the day which was a blackberry flavor and was delicious. For apps we shared the fried pickles and the fish dip- both good. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were large and very tasty- sauces were great. Coleslaw was fresh and not too mayonnaisey which is the way I like it. Husband got the shrimp and grits which he said was the best he's ever eaten. Daughter in law got the fish and chips which was huge and she said very good. Son got the tuna Rueben- also very good. What a "neat" place. It's unique and very well laid out with a huge indoor dining area, bar and great outdoor seating. The staff are on top of things from the hostess to the servers. We only had the brunch menu today but I was able to get an off the menu fish platter done in a butter sauce with cheesy grits and a house salad. We also hadn't crab cake Benedict with roasted potatoes. Add in the live entertainment and it's a win/win. Also they feature a small miniature golf Putting area. I rarely leave reviews like this, but tonight was truly alarming. After a fun game of ping pong while we waited for our table, I ordered the deviled eggs and the lobster Cobb salad. The salad arrived with two condiment cups of a thick brown mousse-like substance (it honestly looked like Vegemite mousse). When I asked the server, he said it was shallot dressing. I politely said I didn't like it and asked for blue cheese -- he only offered ranch, I declined... and he walked away. He never returned. No alternatives offered -- despite the fact they clearly have Caesar dressing (there's a grilled Caesar salad on the menu). A different woman brought the bill later, said something I couldn't hear, then just stood there staring at my totally untouched salad asking if I wanted a box to pack it up. Awkward and unprofessional. I pivoted and decided to take the salad home planning to add my own dressing since the rest of my dinner companions were finished eating, but within two hours I was violently vomiting with severe stomach cramps that lasted all night. The deviled eggs had tasted slightly off, and now I'm honestly afraid this was a food safety issue. I have already contacted the restaurant to ask if any other diners got sick tonight. Came here with the family and loved the food. It was really good. Everything seemed to be fresh and caught that day and made in house which was fantastic. There's shrimp tacos were phenomenal with a good sauce on the side that you can add to it so that was delicious. They do have some different beers to try. I had a hazy beer that they had there and it was actually really good and I also tried their margaritas which on Tuesdays for taco Tuesdays. They are five dollars. Great deal. Our server was super nice and always available if we needed any questions and came by frequently to check on us as well as the manager, which is pretty cool also before I forget, their french fries is amazing. This new building came out awesome all the decorations are the decor thing that they put into. A group of eight of us went to Owen's Fish camp on university Parkway. It was like an old rustic home with a big back porch. We got there a little after four and we're promptly seated. Our waitress was great. She explained the menu and took time with all of us. One of the folks shared the fish spread as an appetizer. Some of us got one dollar oysters on the half shell and another got the deviled eggs, all was excellent. My wife and I split the scamp dinner. We had it firewood cooked. It was delicious with the right amount of Char. The dirty rice was delicious and the old Bay seasoned fries were piping hot and also very good. Another got the catfish and he said it was delicious. There was live music on the patio and the kids love that there is so much room to run around outside and play. I had the quiche and salad which was wonderful and my husband had a burger. I found this restaurant to be ok. I am at three stars because of their hours which don't really work well for me. I have tried to come to this restaurant 4 times to have the seafood boil and everytime they were closed during the day. They are open until 2pm on Sat and Sunday at this location, but it is just for brunch. I found brunch to be just ok, i was disappointed though because the brunch menu doesn't really showcase their seafood. There also are not a lot of gluten-free options on the brunch menu. The shrimp and grits was gluten-free and while it was tasty it had way too much going on in it from Tasso ham, the mushrooms, onions, shrimp, cheddar grits and sauce. The overall dish definitely delivered, but it was too many competing flavors for me, low on salt and the grits didn't stand out at all. They also just didn't give me enough grits, it was maybe half a cup and this dish needs more grits. My husband enjoyed his meal, it was some type of Ranchero style eggs with tortillas and beans and sour cream. It was very filling and satisfying. The restaurant is very nice, the outdoor patio is extremely nice. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. Somehow one of my glasses in my mimosa flight still had a significant amount of detergent or some soapy substance in it before the mimosa was poured in and i got a mouth full of sudsy prosecco. They switched it out and gave me another mimosa, but never removed the one with the soap in it from the table. I think the mimosa flight (25.00$ for 4 I think) was a good option price wise, but it tasted like low quality prosecco thus making it a waste of my money. There was also more juice than prosecco in it. I will still return again though because all I really want to try is the seafood boil! So, just know if you come in for brunch it is a specific brunch menu and specific hours. read more

We visited for the first time after a long day of shopping ( hate shopping) in Sarasota., I heard there might be a wait due to popularity so we made sure to get there just as they opened. I did find it a bit strange that there were chunks of other cheeses than Parmesan in it, but this cheese lover didn't mind one bit! The fried shrimp were perfectly fried and mouth scalding hot just like I like them. Shared the seafood platter which came with okra, more of those delicious shrimp, fried oyster, soft shell crab, fish, fries and coleslaw. Soooo much food, even for two. I will say that those were the BEST fried oysters and okra that I have experienced in the state of Florida! Now if they could just have a fried oyster platter and put the fried okra on the sides list, I would be delighted. Everything on that platter was great, but as an oyster lover, they were my favorite. So.... Mixed feelings here. The ambiance is great. Cute place and a staff was friendly. My drink was good, but sweet. I drank it slow so the ice would melt to cut the sweetness. As for my dinner, over all it was good. I ordered the linguini and clams. The sauce was delicious, but the clams were extremely gritty. So much so that I was worried I would crack a tooth while eating. Again, staff was nice but they didn't seem to pay close attention to what was going on. One table had a small dog that would prop itself up on the table with its front two paws to drink water from a glass. Not sanitary. Another table, maybe a party of 8, screaming cuss world at their children in the dining room about eating off someone's plate. This same table had a small shoeless child around 4 running around the table while at least two of the adults talked about how **explicit** drunk they were. If we were on the patio or a place that was all outside dinning, this would be fine. Inside of a restaurant this is not ideal ifor safety issues alone. Maybe one of them in the party was a staff member as one of the girls kept going behind the host stand to talk to the hosts. Or she just has no boundaries as she as the one yelling at the children. Let's get this out of the way. Fish and chips should have been a signature of any restaurant that has "fish" in its name. The fish was ok. The chips were overcooked but the cole slaw verged on inedible. It wasn't sweet, wasn't vinegary and tasted like it was made last week. Our waiter was fairly good although he seemed to want to hurry us along. The worst was their seating policy. No reservations. We arrived shortly before opening and were advised that even though we were about 14 th in line (at the EMPTY restaurant) we would have to wait 25 to 30 minutes for a seat inside, even though there were many empty tables. It was explained to us that they only bring in a limited staff for inside. We were forced to eat outside in the 90+ degree weather. At least the flies enjoyed it. We heard a lot about Owen's Fish Camp so we decided to give it a try. Our kids were in town and they were looking forward to going as well. The food was mediocre at best and over priced. I ordered the pan fried "shareable" crab cake as my meal since I was not very hungry. It was $20 for ONE crab cake the size of a flat ping pong with a lot of tomato remoulade sauce on the side. This was not a shareable item unless the table each had a fork taste. My wife ordered shareable fries for $8 to share with the rest of the table but that was also disappointing at $8. The service was good and not the fault of the server. He was pleasant and attentive. The ambiance is what to be expected in a restaurant such as this one with pretty cool vibes, too bad the food overall was overpriced and just mediocre. Will not be coming back. read more

It was more than enough food! I would recommend the oysters however I think the seafood boil could use more seasoning. Super unfortunate and disappointing. Tonight we drove 3 hours from west palm beach and arrived at 8:45, knowing they closed at 9:30. We had already looked at the menu and knew what we were going to order. Walked in to the restaurant, greeted by the hostess who informed us that they had not seated anyone in the past hour and would not be seating anyone any more. I asked her if they closed at 9:30, to which she responded yes but again reiterated that they would not be seating anyone. Told her that really sucked since we had driven 3 hours and had made it in plenty of time to be seated. *we also had someone from out of town with whom we wanted to experience the amazingness of Owen's. Luckily we found another establishment in the LWR area that gladly seated us and allowed us to eat (with 45 minutes until they closed). But hunger had struck me while passing through Bradenton. I hungered. I knew I needed something fresh. Something unique. I saw Owen's Fish Camp and it beckoned me. I knew. Wow! What a cool spot. Beautiful rustic decor right on the water. The vibe here is simply fantastic. Boat and vintage photographs really make the place shine and feel very Florida if you're visiting. In regards to the food- wow what a great menu. I found myself looking at every tables food in awe. It all looked fantastic! The fish was fresh and the speciality dish changes daily to my understanding. Brian Wilson was also a huge proponent to the 2007 Eddie Murphy film Norbit. The drink list was extensive, and it was clear that the bartenders really understood mixology. There's also a huge variety of draft beer and glass bottle sodas (the best kind!).
