These guys are great, but in particular Quoc, in service, has been a huge help. I've had to bring a new bike in there a few times for the first 1000 miles on the road and Quoc has been kind, helpful, and had a quick turn around every time. I went down on my bike this morning (broke a chain in a sprint) and dragged my bike over to the shop during lunch with an Uber, and Quoc threw on a new chain, indexed my front and rear derailleurs, and made a couple of other tweaks to get everything running perfect again and I was out of there in about 15 minutes. Update: went in to have my chisel looked at before a long Mtn biking road trip. Steve went out of his way to make sure my bike was in great shape. He also recommended places in Utah and Colorado to check out! He went above and beyond and it's greatly appreciated! This place is amazing. I've been in the market for a new Mtn bike for a few months. I've rented a few at big bear and tried them out and I've been to a couple different shops in Costa Mesa (including the shop I purchased my road bike). Since the specialized shop in Costa Mesa is new--and it's a Cali company; I thought I'd check it out! It's also open at 8am which is unheard of for bike shops and GREATLY appreciated! I walked in and was greeted by Frank. His customer service was perfect. He asked what type of riding I do and we narrowed it down to a 29er hardtail being the best bike for me. He showed me the options in my price point. He never tried to up-sell me on anything and never forced a sale in general. It was a tremendously positive experience. This shop didn't have the bike in their shop but he located it for me in laguna niguel. I just spent the last 30 minutes researching the bike and the reviews on it are outstanding (2018 chisel). I bought a 2021 rockhopper less than 3 months ago and it already broke the rear hub. I've ridden 130 miles with regular recommended maintenance and care on my part with most of those miles being on roads. I sent an email to specialized to try and get the issue addressed on September 5th as the shop I bought it from was closed for a month and I had no other option at the time. Fast forward 3 weeks and I never got a reply so I tried to call and they didn't even have anyone answering phones due to people "working remotely". I can understand the need for that right now but with the massive rush in bike sales this year they should at least try to take care of their customer base. It is October 1st now and my bike has been at a different authorized dealer for a couple weeks and they havent even been able to get ahold of specialized. The worst part is that while getting my girlfriend's trek marlin 5 serviced at the trek store that we got it from they were willing to look at my bike free of charge and even offered to fix my bike if I cant get a warranty repair. I dont have much money so a warranty repair is the best I can hope for otherwise I'd take them up on the offer. It's unreasonable that a different manufacturer is more willing to help than the one that made the bike. The shop that has my bike now has been more than helpful and in no way do I want this review to reflect on them. They didn't have to help me because I didn't buy it from them so I will be having other services done that I will pay for to give them some business for helping me. The insulting part is that I saved up the money for this bike specifically because I have worn out enough walmart bikes to justify the expense but the Walmart bikes seemed to last longer. At this point I will be saving the money for a trek since i can at least count on manufacturer support if something goes wrong. read more

The motor belt is faulty and is a recurring issue on 2019 and 2020 models which they are fully aware. Store had me contact corporate. You can ONLY email corporate. I sent an email on Tuesday... here we are 72 hours later and no response other than an auto-generated ticket number. What is amazing is Specialized just experienced their best sales month in a decade as biking and hiking are the only activities we can do amid the C19 and many used their Gov checks to put towards a bike. They are 100% available to sell you a bike and drive their revenue. But not available to take in a warranty claim on a known issue on their Brose 2.1 motor? Their Ridercare should be 100% open with their customer care assocs working from home. They certainly have the money from record sales to not furlough. This rider is NOT stoked. Anyone else having problems with their 2019 and 2020 levos? My friend is on his 3rd motor. He calls his bike a Land Rover... looks great, but spends more time in the shop then on the trail. Update: Been 1 week from my email to Specialized... no response. I replied to their autogenerated ticket email, to only get a new autogenerated email with a new ticket lol... 1500 later in the queue to boot! 1500 unresponded emails in a week... They are still selling bikes, but ridercare are not available? Bet all the ridercare employees are out riding their bikes while furloughed. Just hope that they don't have the levo Brose 2.1 motor, cause when it breaks who they going to call? They can't because its email only. I can see it now... ...They email themselves about a warranty engine problem. They get the email, but realize they are not working, so they refuse to answer themselves. Then go back to their garage and look at their dry docked bike and say, WTF... I can go buy this bike no problem, but I can't get it warrantied. What a bunch of opportunists over there at Specialized... Oh.. thats right, they got furloughed so Specialized can save payroll... but keep the sales team employed. Thats right. And when they decide come back to work, they will have 4 months worth of warranty backlogs to do and no summer left. Great! I love the culture at Specialized and " Rider Care" Update: Took 4 weeks, finally done. They waived the labor of $36 to replace their defective motor on a $12000 bike. I asked Manager/ Technician for receipt, he didn't provide one and when I asked what happens if this warranty motor fails, he responded: You can take it to any Specialized dealer, but this one. I thought I was hearing things, and asked again in a slight different way. Same response... anywhere but here. I guess they get frustrated when faced with their own failed product. Just go there to buy, go anywhere else 'but' there to warranty. Hmmm aren't they a corporate store representing the "brand"? He should add that phrase to his tattoos, and hopefully the tattoo artist misspells butt. read more

David, Tommy, Tom and the service team went over the top in delivering me a great repair at the new Specialized at Harbor and 19th. I have a couple Specialized Epics, which have been phenomenal mountain bikes. I have put major miles on the one I use for bike-packing and was having a couple repetitive issues. David took over on my behalf, even though I have had my bike for several years, and the shop and corporate are going to replace some parts that ordinarily would not be covered by warranty. And they are having the parts overnighted. I never asked or expected for either free parts or overnight delivery; the shop just stepped up and delivered both on their own. I have the greatest respect for people and an organization that goes this far for their customers, and will be telling my many mountain bike buddies that this wonderful new store is the place to take all their biking business. read more

I received the treatment and friendliness that I was not expecting after visiting other bike stores in my quest to find the perfect bike. Most places like this the people "helping" you are total dicks that know everything and unfortunately for a novice like me, this has been my experience. Right now new Bikes are very hard to come by but luckily this store had exactly what I was looking for. A Specialized Sirrus 4.0. I got there right when they opened and was greeted by the sales guy Steve. He really is a super nice guy and willing to give me his full attention and answer all my questions. As we were going over some of the questions I had, the service guy Frank, joined the conversation and was equally as friendly and informative. I made the purchase and was shocked that they told me I would be able to pick up my new bike the following day as the bike I was purchasing was still in its box and there were 15 bikes ahead of mine that needed to be assembled. The following day I called to check on the status and they gave me an eta and when I arrived about 15 minutes early the bike was pretty much ready to go as promised. I was greeted by Frank and he invited me to visit with him as he was completing some last minute adjustments and was instructing me on some of the functions of the bike I purchased and was answering my questions as he was completing my bike. When we took the bike on a test drive both Frank and Steve were there making sure I was completely happy with the bike and went over some final information regarding service and warranty information. I was blown away how attentive both of them were and how important they made me feel on a bike that might be considered lower end. If I could give 10 stars I would. It's not the closest bike shop to where I live(about a 25 minute drive) but I will never walk into another store or consider purchasing another brand of bike in the future as long as both these good humans are working here. =( it's not worth it. it would be a waste of time to come here. i took my friend here couple of weeks ago. we just finished our saturday ride, and since my friend is a newbie, i decided to bring him here just to show him around and kind of introduce him to what the high end bike looks like. to cut our story short. once we walked in to this store we already felt a different kind of aura in the place. i noticed 2 guys looked are already looking at us stepped out of the car, looked at our bikes and once we walked in they started talking among themselves and did not even say hello. based on their body language they dont want to help us because they kinda feel that we are just there to browse. which is true, i admit it. however me personally, i thought that hey if they have good customer service, i will bring my tarmac here, since i am getting tired of doing maintenance on my own. i believe that a good business should cater every customer, even if they are not there to purchase anything, at least greet the customers and make them feel welcome. terribly sorry but i'm gonna have to agree with the last yelper, this shop have bad customer service. ugh, seriously. Steve the mechanic told me if I chose the $185.00 tune up that not only would the bike work "better that new" but it would be so clean, "that you won't be able to recognize your bike, it 'll be so sparkling clean" Um, yeah, first of all for someone who says he is the best mechanic working in any retail shop in the U.S. , I wonder why my bike was goddamned dirty, (so not finished when I went to retrieve ), didn't work and there were added scratches on my frame (thanks so much for that) I had him switch out the wheelsI brought in, so for all I know, they put some different shitty ones on that they had in the back. There were many new scratches on those too.... funny, I brought the wheels in looking darn near perfect. They acted like dry cleaners when they ruin your clothes " oh, we did not do thaaaaat, and I have no idea how those got there....." Give me an F-ing break. My bike did not work either which was surprising. They could not figure out how to make it run. I took it in and it worked, just in need of a tune up. I had a new chain, new cassette, new wheels. Steve, you know how to blow your trumpet, but did not perform. Luckily, the manager ended up eating the cost of the tune up, but alas, my bike did not work and was dirty (oh so, they tried to clean after the fact) . Someone there screwed up my brand new cork with bike chain oil, so that was an added bonus. When I walked in to get my bike and the fact that no one even gave a care that it was not finished and filthy, pissed me off. One of the hired hands acted so inconvenienced that he had to put it in the wash bay. (did a horrible job) I wish I could have that time back and wish I had never taken my bike there. Funny, the shop looks beautiful, too bad it actually sucks. Or maybe, they act as such because I did not buy my bike there for 10 grand. Who in the hell knows? John tried to remedy the situation, but could not figure out how to make my bike ride. I took it to a better mechanic who did not act so self important and had my bike tuned properly. read more

The folks at Specialized in Costa Mesa have been very helpful keeping me and my Roubaix on the road. I am a larger rider and tend to wear out bike parts at an accelerated rate. The mechanic team, especially Steve Berg have been very responsive to my repair needs. In the most recent incident with the stock wheel set failure the team worked to get me an equitable fix and got me back in the road in a timely manner. All this support and I didn't even buy the bike from them. They stand behind the Specialized product no matter where purchased. read more
