Called around Sacramento and I received the same response from every individual I spoke to: Could not splice into the current fog light plug, up until I called Joe. Joe said it was easy to do and could get it done. He made time for my jeep and was very polite and professional over the phone and in person. He explained the process as he was splicing and made accommodations for my lights and made sure the wires were zip tied properly and out the way in order to make room for the winch. Joe did an excellent job in finding and repairing a serious water leak my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. This past winter we've had an enormous amount of rain in Sacramento (badly needed to end the drought.) In January I discovered that the entire floor on the front passenger side was soaked. My regular mechanic thought it might be caused by blockage in the air intake or evaporation system. When neither were the cause, he recommended a specialized 4WD. I brought the Jeep to Joe and within a day he found the problem (an inlet plug missing), searched for a replacement part (no luck), then made one himself. During the rains last week, the top of my Jeep split open and soaked my seat. I bought a replacement top and had an appt. for installation at another shop, but when I got there they had no appt. for me. I was searching for someplace to help me before the rain returned so I called Joe at Specialized 4 Wheel Drive and he told me to come right in. He got it done quickly and for a great price! I took my '17 JK Wrangler to Joe for B&M performance shifter install. Joe did excellent work and is easy to deal with, friendly and professional. The shifter didn't really fit right and made some popping sound, but Joe quickly identified and fixed the problem . My Jeep was torn apart, then abandoned by the owner of this shop ***. The worker that pulled the Jeep apart left the engine open and materials fell into the block but the owner didn't take responsibility for their actions. I as the customer actually had to Personally re assemble my parted transmission/transfer-case/engine combo back into my own Jeep. When I realized all the assembly hardware from my grill, fenders and engine/trans/transfer case combo were missing. The shop owner said that I could scavenge through the nut and bold bins in the back counter of the shop where there isn't any lighting so I was forced to buy new hardware because I couldn't find any of mine or matching usable hardware. I also had dropped the Jeep off with a big box of seals and gear fluid that disappeared in the 2 years he had the Jeep apart for the small amount of frame welds. The bill magically showed a seal kit being used but the shop charged me for one and I gave them one!?? Seal kits were for transfer case, front/rear axles and transmission. My front and rear Upgraded Drive-Lines were stolen as well and not returned even after multiple written and verbal requests for my items to be returned. The owner *** will not return a list of items rounding upwards over $1,000 that I will now have to get back in the Small claims division County Courts. My engine was never put back together and objects that fell into the unsealed intake manifold/carburetor mount hole have not been removed by the shop. I urge anyone looking for actual vehicle safety items to be worked on or checked do not come here, I've seen and been dealing with the crappy Hack work they're providing. Not to mention there are a few vehicles that DO NOT MOVE that are red flags of how they aren't working on customers vehicles. The business if so darn dirty inside and out, they lose all your Original Hardware and replace with Rusted nuts and bolts that are found on the floor and near garbage and oily rags stuffed in the corners. The owner doesn't have the ability to function properly while a customer waits for a vehicle because the tools are left ALL OVER the shop and *** is left walking around back and forth looking for the last place *** used a certain socket or wrench. This is why *** doesn't accurately charge time on jobs. Weather your OVER PAYING because *** is finding tools on your payable time or your not being charged as much because he took 4 weeks to 2 years and says that he gave you a deal. ITS HORRIBLE FOR BUSINESS AND CUSTOMERS ON ALL LEVELS unless your over looking all this I pointed out because of a cheaper price. read more

I would rate this higher, but 5 is the max! My 2014 Jeep JKU has a ARB Old Man Emu 4" lift, and 35" Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. All work has been done by a very well known national chain shop. A case of Death Wobble made driving it extremely dangerous. At 60 MPH it would hit a bumpy patch and suddenly feel like the front end was coming apart. With heavy rains coming, it was a time sensitive matter. I had brought it to the corporate 4wd shop, and was charged $130 for a "shake down/inspection ". After their expert analysis, I was given a quote for $1,900.00 to replace the Synergy ball joints, and the ARB track-bar. That was money I did not have, so I searched for a second opinion. Specialized Four Wheel was the second shop I contacted, and not remotely close. The first shop was close to Lincoln, but too busy for a drop in, and I couldn't afford to wait. On a Friday afternoon, Joe Sands made the time to have me bring it in later that afternoon, and then personally inspected it for free! He then explained the Synergy ball joints were fine, as was the ARB track-bar. However the Drag-bar, a steering component was worn. This is 100% opposite of what the national 4WD chain told me. With rain on the way on Monday, he was able to use a brand new Drag-bar already committed to another project. Not only did this fix the Death Wobble, it was completed on the spot, at a ridiculously low price. Let's recap... 1-Joe Sands didn't know me. I had never met the man, nor done any prior business. He was busy already that Friday. With NO APPOINTMENT, he had me come right down. 2- I was SCREWED, and had no other options. A 35 mile commute sucks in rain with Death Wobble! 3- He not only made time to inspect my Jeep, and determine the source of the problem correctly, he sourced the exact part on the spot. 4-He charged me a FAIR, affordable price, and didn't even try to up-sell me, or take advantage of me being over a barrel. I almost fell over when he told me how much it would cost. Compared to $1,900 it was peanuts! 5- He knew exactly what he was talking about, and patiently answered all my questions and frustrated concerns. 6- Joe and his awesome employee, installed the part and then test drove it to ensure it was safe. Joe Sands went above and beyond, and he is now my Jeep Guy. I will gladly drive across the county to have his experienced eye and expertise work on my Jeep. He is man you can clearly trust, knows what he is talking about, and provides exceptional service. You will know you have arrived at his shop when you peer through the trees and bushes, and glimpse the serious 4x4 rigs on his lot. It is not pristine, there is no sexy showroom, nor is it perfectly organized for Instagram and Facebook pics. It is however a TRUE 4x4 shop, where you can tell they love what they do, and it shows. The second you turn off the narrow street, and drive into the lot, you enter another world. Rigs built for the Rubicon, desert adventures, and projects most only dream of. A professional confidence emanates from within, and the hectic chaos of life fades away. Time seems to slow, and you know you have found a rare old school garage. It is where 4x4 problems go away. I've been to the other shop, and it was all image, and no substance. I already have more work line up for Joe, and now that I have an affordable true mechanic, it is a huge relief. I have been planing a Rubicon trip for a while now. Just as I entered the staging area my traction control, hill climb decent, and abs lights all turned on and disabled my 4 wheel drive (good thing I didn't enter the trail yet, would have been in deep trouble). I googled Jeep repair specialist and Specialized 4 Wheel drive came up near the top of the page. I called the owner and he quickly knew it was a wheel speed sensor. I brought the Jeep in the next day, he had it diagnosed, part ordered, and installed in two hours for only $115! Friendly guy, great dog Lucas, ton of Jeep knowledge. The garage seems kinda rough from the outside, but don't let this distract you, all Jeep repair places seem to look this way. It means they are good!!! I highly recommend this place. My 2015 Jeep Cherokee started acting up right before I was about to drive down to SoCal, called Joe first thing in the morning and he told me to come in and he'd take a look. He inspected the car for free and explained everything to me then said he'd order the part and have it done within 30min. Most car shops try to up sell me because I'm a female college student, not Joe! He explains everything and gets it done quickly. I took in my 2012 ram 4x4 Cummins, had a major front damage and front axle was bent. Joe took it all apart, then took it to a shop that could straighten the housing, but they could not, because the damage was more than we thought. We then both have to search for a new housing and found a few options, then have to weight for delivery from east coast. Took them my 93 Cummins 4x4 truck to have a 4" lift, crossover steering, and a new borgeson steering shaft installed. 1 week turnaround, they even fixed the leaking rear transfer case seal that I hadn't noticed.
