Ugh- spectrum gives off vibes of the hated time Warner cable....oh wait, spectrum is the re-branded TWC! So not surprising the anti-customer service still continues. Called in 6 days ago to reduce monthly $$ which had been going up. downgraded with the rep agreeing that if we weren't happy with reduced speed we could upgrade and he even wrote in his notes the reduced pricing for the upgrade. Today, less than a week of experiencing slow internet/buffering, called in to upgrade speed and was told that the program was no longer available, the price changed and I could no longer upgrade to the 500, it was now 1000 (we had 500 for 5 years) and of course the 1000 would be at a higher$$. Can I talk to a supervisor? I asked. "Oh, they're all in a meeting right now. But supervisor said since there's no contract, if price is not locked in, rates can change next day.". The internet was fairly reliable for our area. But beware of their deceptive practices and anti-customer practices. Someone commented that it was as if in a toxic relationship. Can totally see that even though they re-branded, the hated practices of TWC continues. UPDATE: just got off the line with Tami, in Florida. The amazing woman was able to upgrade me to 600 speed and even reduce my rate more than what I have been quoted previously. Apparently my first call was into the sales department - big mistake. So I had to post the positive results from calling back to get more information rather just leave the situation angrily. Now she represented her company very well and I have to commend her. Went in last week to swap modems and they somehow convinced my girlfriend I needed a new cellphone. I was told it would be fast and easy to get set up. I've been into the store twice this week and there were ridiculous wait times. The service staff didn't seem to care at all or show any sense of urgency. Scowls on all their faces. This TV package SUCKS!!!To get out of an app I have to shut the tv off then restart the operation process which is a vrsp shut getting program to come up. I paid for a service call to setup the WiFi but using the tv remote is very frustrating and was not explained to me when the system was installed. I am not happy and may cancel my service! If I can give this store a negative star, then I would. I went in was trying to change my provider to spectrum and I was promised that it would be $30 per month due to store promotion. It was a lie!!!!!!!!!! The store clerk told me that I will have to open up an Internet account then I can have my phone attached to it. They suggested to cancel it in a month in order to avoid the extra charge. I canceled it and returned the equipment. And still get charged $180 today due to not returning the equipment. WT!!!!!! The in-store staff acted like they were doing me a favor just by acknowledging I was standing there. Zero professionalism, zero urgency, and zero accountability. They kept helping the customer that are in store upgrading their phones or new account first before all the other customers. But the phone support? That's where the real chaos begins. The associate who helped me an older white gentleman, I believe his name is Richard , did not want to help me with my upgrade. I had great service and was using their internet, cable and mobile service. Having two separate bills and autopay? I wasn't paying attention to how much the price had gone up. I called and told them it was too much and they offered me limited cable for $9 less. I was paying close to &350! I switched my internet and phones to AT&T and cable to Dish for significant savings. I called Spectrum to cancel and was hammered for 30 Minutes to keep it and offered large savings. Because I spoke to the wrong dept, the first time, I was t offered this. Then I was told that even though I was 3 days into my billing cycle I would get no credit. Finally I started getting texts almost immediately to return my equipment or I would be billed even though I was paid up for 3 1/2 more weeks . I won't go back in the future. About a year ago I switched to Spectrum Internet believing that it would be as reliable as the service I received at my former address about 1 mile away from where I live now. That has not been the case. In fact the service drops are un-ending, multiple per day. I have spent way too much time dealing with TOTAL internet drops. I have run multiple internet speed tests during these drops and found that the test cannot complete because THERE IS NO CONNECTION! And this has been with a LAN connection! I have spent much time on their website chat interface to alert them to this issue and that has been useless. NO help, not even an email acknowledging the contact. So went to the store and changed out the router. NO DIFFERENCE. I STRONGLY RECCOMEND THAT THIS SERVICE SHOULD BE AVOIDED! ZERO RATING I've done so many reboot requests from Spectrum and spent so much time on their online 'customer service' interface site and nothing has changed. read more

Spectrum is the worst cable company in Orange County. They rip you off with channels they add on. We have 3 channels we never added like India view. We called 6 months ago to have these random channels removed which they said they did. When we recently checked it they were back on the bill. We never added it or others but were charged over $400/yr. Spectrum wouldn't even credit us for their mistake. They just lost a customer for life. The monthly bill was over $250/month. I had Spectrum for a while and they often charged me the wrong amount every month for example my payment was 20 and they'd charge me 60, and Id constantly have to fight the payment with my bank. My phone was glitching constantly with Spectrum and they said the problem was my phone but when I switched to Boost I've had no issues with it glitching or my service. The phone works perfectly fine, the mobile service was what was bad. They also never said that if I had issues with the phone I had two weeks to return it. They're unorganized and steal peoples money after the set the problem was with the phone I spent $320 on the Motorola edge and the phone stop having media volume in a week when I called Spectrum they told me to deal with Motorola Motorola has outsource services with people that don't speak English had I sent my phone back to Spectrum they should have given me a refund in two weeks The problem was not the phone in the first place The problem was the crappy internet service they provided after your credit card refunds you the money that they overcharged you they keep on sending you bills they play games and they rip people off. This isn't necessarily for the staff in the store but the company as a whole. I have never had such a hard time canceling a service as I did with Spectrum. I have court documents stating I took over a residence and the payments have been coming from my personal account but the people I spoke to from customer service said I needed to get a transfer of account form signed. Despite some difficulties, I got that done and sent it in. Then I was told I needed to submit it in person with my id. When I went to do that, I was told the other party had to be there with their ID as well despite having a restraining order against said person. I understand that there are certain policies in place but I'm pretty sure it doesn't trump judicial system rulings. Thankfully someone in the store realized the gravity of what was being asked but the amount of hoops I had to jump through and the unnecessary pain it's cause makes me never want to recommend theses services to anyone. read more

This one is a doozy: Since first moving to Costa Mesa in 2017, we became Spectrum customers. Of course over 2.5 years our monthly bill increased, but always had good internet service. When we moved in August 2019, I tried to transfer service from our old address to our new address. I was instructed BY THEIR SALES PERSON to do the following: 1 - Cancel our old account 2 - Return our old hardware in a physical location 3- Create a new account to take advantage of new customer pricing ($49.99 per month) I was pleasantly surprised to get this recommendation since it was saving us money but needless to say this is what I was doing per the sales person's recommendation. Mind you I was on the phone with this person for a good hour clarifying everything and making sure I was following correctly. Well, what a nightmare that decision led to. Spectrum proceeded to send NEW hardware to our new address before* our arrival, easily setting us up for it to be stolen. Spectrum sent out a technician to set up NEW service at our NEW address at an agreed upon time frame. The technician was quick and did the job, but we needed someone to come back because he set it up using our OLD account rather than our NEW account. So we had to schedule another technician to come out and install it correctly with our new account, and this man was very friendly and helpful. He told us verbatim that if we go to the store in person their team will be able to resolve the duplicate account issue and issue any refunds should charges go through... After that we've been back to the store TWICE in person to try and get this squared away. Today, my husband spoke with the team in person and was told the following: 1 - His wife is not allowed to have her own account (WTF?) 2 - The sales person that told us to set up a new account to take advantage of cheaper pricing is not allowed. 3 - That our old account was STILL open and STILL in service at our OLD address....ARE YOU KIDDING ME????!!! 4 - She said she cannot cancel his old account but only our new account to lock us into higher pricing...LOL 5- They said we owe them $70.99 because the old account was never turned off - even though we moved out over 6 weeks ago - and we still have to pay for the service. 6 - Once he threatened to cancel our service altogether, she said "she may be able to figure something out" yet was unable to do anything. Needless to say we're back at square one, paying for 2 services, at the expense of Spectrum. There is no way in hell that the customer should be held accountable for the company's or the employee's mistake and misunderstanding. Instead of accommodating us, they speak to us in a condescending, disrespectful, and discriminatory manner. I have NEVER in my life had as bad as an experience with customer service than I have with Spectrum. What a joke of a company. They take advantage of people and in no way shape or form value their customers who PAY THEIR BILLS. I am so disappointed and upset and discouraged with a company as huge as Spectrum that they would go this route to treat customers this way. What happened to good customer service?? Time Warner was much better. In 2015, when I first signed up, they gave me a rate of 14.99 and promised me the rate would never change. Then they got bought out by Spectrum and in 2019, they increased the rate to 19.99. I called about the price increase and they said they've increased all the rates by 5 dollars per month due to the upcoming new year...I then got mobilized in the military and requested they freeze my service so that I didnt have to pay for internet I wasn't using and the person I spoke to said they could do that, just wait for a letter. I never received the letter and called again and was told they don't do that even for deployed military members, but they could offer a "seasonal " rate at 4.99 per month....so for a one year deployment I am paying 60 dollars for no service? They said, yes that's right, that's what "seasonal" meant...for people who are out of town and for Spectrum to hold their account and provide zero service. I asked what the benefit was in paying every month for nothing and they could not provide a reason, so I cancelled the service. Less than a month later, with the whole coronavirus situation and the possibility of being sent home and work from home, I call to activate the internet....I get put on hold for over an hour, and then told they can offer me a special rate of 49.99....so how did the rate more than double in a short time frame? Customer service says it is because the 19.99 rate expired...so in the span of 6 months, the rate went from 14.99 to 19.99 to 49.99. They said had I not cancelled I could have kept the 19.99 rate...why can't they just give me the rate then Instead of saying would have should have could have? On top of that, despite noting that my service is disconnected they are still charging me the 19.99 monthly rate even though I already paid for all my bills up until the time I cancelled. This is a Terrible company that does not care about it's customers, does not work with military members , and only seeks to price gouge and rip people off. On top of that, they are constantly filling your mailbox with junk mail. I thought after I cancel the service I wouldn't hear from them again, but they just send more junk mail than ever and a lot of spam phone calls. read more

Until today I've always had bad experiences canceling services with every internet provider I've used before. Usually it's impossible to get an appointment, takes a long time once you do, and their are a million service fees to cancel. I'll tell you what though, Matt at this spectrum store did right by me. I recently moved to a new house which already provided internet service and when I came in to cancel, Matt was very friendly, courteous, and fast. Their was no hidden fees or reasons why I couldn't cancel, I simply dropped the equipment and Matt took care of the rest. Requires to use this company because of geographic location. I never open my bill and have it set on auto pay. I decided to open the bill recently and see that they randomly added tv streaming for the last several months. Highly recommend diligently checking your bill because they commonly do this hoping it goes unnoticed. Complete criminals.
