You must go see Aurora at Spectrum Hair! She is the best for permanent makeup, eyebrow shaping and maintenance and AMAZING at Halloween make up. When I first went to see Aurora I had awful skinny, over plucked eyebrows and I needed help BAD. She first started the process of waxing and re-shaping them to fit my face, I went every two weeks to get them done perfectly and how I wanted them. The next step was to get my eyebrows tattooed or filled in where my hair didn't grow. I was so nervous about this, a tattoo on my face, AHH! They turned amazing, better than amazing... I LOVE THEM. Now I have perfect eyebrows that I don't have to do anything with anymore. Best decision I've made. I go to Aurora for my Halloween make up, she is the BEST in the business. I can't believe how talented and creative she is, it's unreal. She is so good I book her months in advance, the word is getting out about her. Review for Arely! This was my first visit to spectrum hair. After reading some great reviews on yelp, decided to try. I've been looking for a great local salon with great stylist and atmosphere. I called on saturday Aug 17 around 2:30pm asking if there were any openings. they said sure come in at 2:45. sweet. that was easy. From the moment I walked in, everyone was super friendly. The vibe of the place was like something out of fried green tomatoes. everyone knew each other, like old friends. Good hometown feel. The receptionist got my info and called Arely to the front. She greeted me then took me to the chair for a consult. I told her that i wanted a cut that would fit my lifestyle. wash and go. I don't blow dry, style, or put anything in my hair so i wanted a cut that would look natural. Most stylist would cut and style your hair great in the salon, but when you got home, it would not come out the same. So, i wanted to wait a week before i wrote this review. All i can say is, she did an amazing job! My hair looks salon perfect every time without any effort. She did exactly what i wished for, wash and go. I love my new cut! so easy, simple, and looks great! About Arely: she's super nice. She's probably the nicest stylist i've ever met. She wasn't snobby nor nosey like other stylist - sorry. I hate going into a new salon and feel like you're forced to talk to them. But she was genuinely nice. She listens to what you want, checks along the way, and does a great job. She makes you feel like you're an old friend. Very easy to talk to . She studied at paul mitchell so if you wanted an edgy cut or look, she could totally do that for you. After searching and trying multiple salons in the los al, seal beach, long beach area.... i think i've found my new salon and my new stylist! This review is for Aurora: I've been going to her to get my eyebrows done for 9 years! She used to be at LA Hair but moved here when the shop closed a few years ago. I do not trust anyone more than her. I've attempted going to other salons when I've moved or Aurora's been out of town, but they've all been nightmares. Aurora is so good at waxing, its unbelievable. I haven't been disappointed with a single appointment in the last 9 years. Every time is perfect and clean. She's very friendly and very chatty and will make sure you are comfortable. I don't go anywhere but Spectrum Hair. The owner, Joanne, does a fabulous job on my hair every time. She really knows Asian hair really well and can cut my hair stylishly and unique to my wants and needs. I'm a no-effort sort of girl for my hair, and all I have to do is brush my hair and it looks nice. The wait might be a little long and I have to book my appointment 3 months in advance because Joanne is so popular, but she will come in earlier for you if you are in a jam. She offered to come in at 7am once to cut my hair! So nice. The wait and the advance scheduling is worth it though. Value and a hairdresser you can trust! read more

I have been a client of Joanne's for 26+ years. I have followed her to many different salons and would not change stylists for all the money in the world. Not only is she simply the best at what she does, she is kind, generous, funny..etc etc etc. Joanne's clients know not to ever miss an appointment because if you do, you won't get rescheduled for at least a couple of months. Unfortunately, Joanne no longer takes new clients. However, she also wouldn't let anyone who is not just as good as her work there, so I know that any stylist there can be trusted with my hair. She actually trains many of them herself while they work as her assistant. I highly recommend this salon and everyone in it for whatever beauty service that you desire. I absolutely love this salon! I have been a client of Aurora for 16 years and have been going to Spectrum since it opened. I get my eyebrows waxed, shaped AND dyed! I naturally have super blonde eyebrows and you can't see them on my face. Aurora was able to match a color that fits me perfectly! (I am a very fair red head so that's not an easy job!) I also get my full face waxing, arms, underarms and legs waxed! I get a Brazilian waxing every 3 weeks and Aurora makes you feel extremely comfortable! Facials are a great gift to yourself and aurora does this as well!! You can truly get pampered! Honestly, I have never done my hair here but from what I see every time I go in, they all do awesome jobs. I love the girls at Spectrum Hair! I've tried other salons since I live out of town, but always come back to Joanne. She knows how to deal with my curly, thick hair like no one else. I'm pretty particular about my hair, and I've never left the salon with a bad haircut. I also like that the stylists regularly attend hair shows to stay up on different trends, and that I can buy products at the salon. Going to a new salon can always be nerve-racking but the minute I got there I felt comfortable and confident I would leave a happy costumer. Aurora did a great job on my cut and blow dry and gave me some very helpful tips on how to style and take care of my hair.
