Oh my... Hawaiian Tel…read more.. We moved to a new place, and a technician came yesterday to install the internet. Right after he left, the connection started acting up. After spending about 40 minutes troubleshooting with support, they told us the installation was done incorrectly and that the technician needs to come back. Basically, now we get internet for 10-40 minutes if we're lucky, followed by 5-20 minutes with no connection at all--and there's no way to predict when it will come or go Extra star from my previous review: I also made sure to ask them not to charge me for the transfer/ service since it hasn't actually been provided and they agreed to that, and wait time on the line was only 15 min

Extremely disappointing experience dealing with Hawaiian Telcom after my mother's passing…read more My mother passed away on March 5, 2026. Within days, I contacted Hawaiian Telcom to discontinue her internet service. I was told they would not disconnect the service until I provided a death certificate. Unfortunately, death certificates take time to obtain, and it was approximately six weeks before I received one. As soon as I had the death certificate, I contacted Hawaiian Telcom and uploaded a copy while on the phone with their representative. I was specifically told that the document had been received and that the service would be disconnected. To be safe, I later mailed them a physical copy of the death certificate as well. Despite following every instruction they gave me and providing the requested documentation multiple times, Hawaiian Telcom continues to bill my deceased mother month after month. I continue to receive invoices for a service that should have been disconnected long ago. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is difficult enough without having to repeatedly fight with a utility company to stop billing a deceased customer. This situation should have been resolved months ago, yet here I am still trying to get Hawaiian Telcom to do what they already confirmed they would do. I expected far better customer service and compassion during a difficult time. Instead, I have experienced poor communication, administrative failures, and ongoing billing issues that should never have occurred.

However, when I requested my satellite dishes be relocated (from rooftop to ground) due to significant rust on the supports this was the beginning of the end of our customer loyalty. The two new in-ground posts were not secured properly (at the top) and the poles/dishes moved significantly with slight wind. Random cable placement along the side of the house looked ridiculous. Excess cable (approx 3-5') was loose and stuffed behind the pole-top dish mount and the satellite reception was never obtained - no TV for 5 days. The old, rusted satellite dishes were left on the rooftop - technician stated that I needed to call-in a separate work order to have them removed to which I replied "that was my original work request". I pleaded with the technician to remove the old dishes due to safety concerns - he relented and removed the dishes but left the rusted mounts and bolts on top of the roof. The first call to customer Svc / CS that same day ended with "we'll have a technician back there tomorrow". After a no-show the following day the second call to CS was further frustrating w the CS agent stating "we have no record of your previous call". The technician actions along w the CS drama led to a 'no choice' decision - cancellation of DISH service. As of this writing we're still awaiting our $200+ reimbursement- all receivers and equipment were mailed back in June and received (tracked). Unprofessional and unacceptable customer support and service. I gotta say it (DISH) was fun while it lasted.

We called and tlan employee told us that we needed to take our box to a location. We were happy to hear that there was a location near to us. The employee that we spoke to on the phone made our transaction smooth and getting the new box was quick and also easy to find. I followed the directions given as well as followed a map and it was very easy to find. It is on the corner of Kamaaha Ave and Fort Barrette Road. You need to drive a little slow or you could miss the driveway but not hard to find at all. It is a single stand alone one story building surrounded by a fence with a green roof. When you arrive, you need to get buzzed in. The employee who helped me inside was quick and to the point. He was helpful and it was also an easy transaction. Glad that this location was close by and that I didnt need to drive all the way to town.

Back in the day they were the designated carrier that could be counted upon in crisis situations. Very reliable service. Yes we've gone through all of their upgrades to their systems. The latest " Fiber Optics " is still full of "Bugs" that prevent the system of living up to its potential. They're switching to TiVo which means all of their customers will have to eventually switch over. Unfortunately the programming they started out with is no longer available. Your DVR is obsolete and unfortunately you'll lose all of your content. When asked they speak about Upgrading the system. But the changes have not been smooth nor seamless. We would constantly lose our connection only to watch a blank or frozen screen. Not to mention the loss of programs that they no longer do business with the parent company due to expired contracts. But yet they charge us the same price. On a positive note they're going to open a new branch in the Kamakani Ali'i Mall. Hopefully a sign of better things to come.
