Definitely don't bother going without an appointment. Went in to "quickly" drop off my old modem. After waiting a few I politely tried to ask one of the employees if she had an estimate on time and if it was worth waiting or if it would make more sense to go to the ups store to drop my items. All she had to offer was "I don't know. I have no idea how long each appointment will take. If you don't have time to wait, I suggest you make an appointment and come back later." No smile. No kindness. And really, in your experience working there you can't guesstimate 20 minutes vs 2 hours. And if you really can't maybe just say that it really could take 20 min or 2 hours... just something resembling customer service would be nice. read more

In my opinion, people don't usually write reviews on Yelp unless they feel strongly about a certain service. It makes sense why it would be that way, hence the amount of complaints about a less-than-satisfactory experience with customer service. However, my experience with TWC Spectrum's customer service, both over the phone and at their storefront location, was fairly positive. I switched over from AT&T U-Verse to Spectrum because of the increased Mbps that Spectrum offers. They mailed the router, modem, and applicable cables to my residence. Unfortunately, the router was faulty and did not power on. I called CS and they advised to visit a storefront and switch out the router. Fast-forward a couple days, and I go to their location in Baldwin Hills. 7:15 pm on a Tuesday night was not a busy time, so that was nice. I signed up at the iPad located at the entrance of the store, and was served within 10 minutes. Sesar was very professional and courteous, and facilitated the equipment exchange in minutes. Upon arriving home with the equipment and prepping the devices for installation, I was assisted over the phone by a very friendly Tech Support rep. Everything worked out and internet is now up and running. My only issue was being sent the faulty router in the first place. read more

Time Warner is the absolute worst. Their employees are poorly trained and the customer service is the absolute worst no matter how loyal you've been or how much money you spend. They love to frustrate the customer. Even the simplest task such as adding a service (and paying a premium) will usually involve being transferred multiple times and being on hold no less than 30 minutes. ATT is much better. Avoid spectrum mobile at all costs! They do not care about their customers. I am now stuck with a phone lease even though I cancelled the service. I feel like a victim of a scam. Customer support was not helpful. Telling me I could open a dispute, but most disputes are denied. And surprise, three weeks later it was denied. I am responsible for paying for this phone. i cancelled the service because there was absolutely no signal whatsoever. Horrible! what happened was I called spectrum about my brothers router. I WASNT EVEN SHOPPING FOR A MOBILE PHONE. The very friendly sales girl talk to me about how wonderful spectrum mobile is and how much money it would save my brother. I was so hesitant. She called me back and made the sale over four or five different phone calls. She promised me if I wasn't happy if the service didn't work at his address, I can return it. She didn't say that if I open the phone box I would have to pay a $50 restocking fee. She didn't say the window to return it was 14 days from when the phone arrived at his house. I was told 14 days after activation by the sales person AND another customer service rep. I called and after a long wait on hold the customer support was "sorry lady".... they didn't believe the customer at all. I aske to speak to a manager and he didn't believe me at all. He said he would go back and listen to the phonetapes of all my interactions . About a month later I was told that was denied. Thats it. Nothing to be done. I loved the service when this was Time Warner. It's gotten progressively worse. Over the last 2 years my internet service has deteriorated to the point of me using my wifi hot spot on my phone in lieu of. because it is so slow and unreliable. I called to check out my options. First thing I was told was that my speed was at the low end of the range I am paying for - no reason why. I asked to upgrade. I have to wait 5-7 days for the acct to be transferred as they insist on only doing this through the acct holder who happens to be deceased. Never had this issue with Time Warner - I was able to make all kinds of changes on the account with no issue (an acct I've been paying for myself for 30+ years). I can't get an appt to upgrade without that change - all which could have been communicated in the first 5 min of the call with person #1. Instead 30 min in with person #3, I find I can't even make an appt. Maybe time to move on. read more

This organization is by far one of the worse carries I have ever signed with. They have raised my rates at least 3 - 4 times in one year. When the customer makes an attempt to contact them re: your "extremely high bill" you area left on hold for 20 + minutes waiting and waiting, in an effort to deter the customer from contacting and or closing your account. By far if asked to rate Spectrum, I would give them a whopping "Z-E-R-O!' They bill themselves as an org that is user friendly when in fact they are a wolf-in sheep's clothing. Really hard to imagine how they do business. I tried to sign up online, spent 30 minutes entering all the needed information (IMEI #'s and details for 4 devices), and then after submitting it received the "technical problem" message on their website. None of the information that was entered was saved. At the urging of my family I went online and did it all over again and submitted the information - this time no error message, so all good, right? I received an email 3 days later stating that my credit card was not excepted (although it works everywhere else that I use it) and the order was canceled (and none of the information that was laboriously entered was saved by them). Interestingly, no one from their company called to inquire as to what might have been the problem before cancelling the order and deleting everything. What a bunch of monkeys! I wanted to add a second line to get their $29.99 unlimited data per line plan. I was already a Spectrum Mobile customer and was transferring my wife's phone to get that second line. Only after they transferred the phone and charged me an activation fee (that was never, ever discussed or disclosed) did they inform me that since I had been a customer for over 1 month my first phone did not qualify for the plan. I spent 49 minutes on hold with customer service to basically be told "to bad, so sad". I have now lost my data plan at Verizon since they ported the new phone number before they told me I wouldn't qualify for the plan. I have also lost any existing customer benefits at Verizon since I am no longer a customer. Rip Off marketing and activation scam. read more

Incompetent and clueless. Spectrum made a mess of our service when upgrading our phones. From ordering the phones to data transfer to changing our phone numbers (which we didn't want) Spectum screwed up everything with unbelievable mistakes at every step of the process. What should have been a simple phone upgrade ended up with us spending a week trying to fix the problems and undo the damage from their mistakes. The Spectrum store in Wilmington NC was the worst with Tamara the manager not even giving out her last name and of course not having a business card. The Spectrum reps on the phone were little to no help. Finally Apple did most of the work. The smart transfer app also did not work- it partially transferred data numerous times but stopped incomplete, then needed to be restarted and never finished. Apple had to undo all the Spectrum issues and start over. Spectrum is a nightmare and outrageously time consuming. read more

Just wow! After being on the phone for three hours speaking to three different operators then speaking to a supervisor it is telling! It is telling that people are done with customer service positions, it is telling that supervisors are merely there for their check, and it is telling that some people genuinely enjoy what they do and some people could care less as well as disregard the values that are projected to the consumer by way of marketing from the company! I was just instructed by way of the supervisor Kimberly, that because the last operator I spoke with did help me with Initial opportunity and reason for the phone call, that if I would like to take my complaint further I would need to write the Better Business Bureau! Oh and Kimberly I will. I'm sure you're wondering the reason behind my frustrations and my callouts, and that's simply because the handling I got from my second operator and his name was Dylan. Dylan used this thing that's very well-known in America as a micro aggression. Wile Dylan very well may be able to frame our opportunities in that phone call as him trying to assist me. There are several ways to get to solutions and Dylan's choices to get to the solution presented condescending belittling and inappropriate. Then to add insult to injury to then asked to speak to a supervisor to be told we'll talk to him, and the best part Kimberly obviously being a woman of color like myself brushing this off as if this isn't some thing absolutely inappropriate is disheartening and with out a doubt happens regularly. After I write the Better Business Bureau I will be looking for a new Internet and television options because this doesn't make sense and it's just not ok. I have been with spectrum for many years for cable, internet and phone, when they came out with mobile service a little over two years ago, I decided to change from another provider.. I financed three phone through them as well over a two year period. So after having the service and paying off three brand new phones, we went to the store to upgrade, of course they didn't have any of the phones that we wanted in stock so they had to be ordered and shipped.. one of the upgrades that we wanted was the galaxy s20, but they didn't have at all, so the salesperson talked me into a Samsung note 20, I said I would try.. The phones were shipped on December 28th, when I took to the store to get activated, I asked if I don't like this note how long do I have to decide, I was told 14 days, which was December 30th.. I took the phone back to the store on January 11th and they told me that it can't be returned because it's over the 14 days.. apparently they count the shipping in the 14 day period..Ridiculous!!!! So I have to pay $1000.00 for a phone that I don't like.... and they told me I could upgrade once the phone is 50% paid!..unbelievable.. read more

Ever since TWC was switched to Spectrum, the customer service has been terrible. 2 days ago my girls internet service was turned off because of non-payment. She doesn't get paid until the 25th and usually TWC was convenient with given their customers time to pay their bill. But not spectrum, they have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY with keeping your internet on. If you do not make a payment within THEIR time-frame, they will not accommodate you NO MATTER WHAT. So we pay the bill on the 25th and when the modem got rebooted, it never turned my internet back on. So we did a online chat with TWO representatives, they kept rebooted the modem, trying to get it to work but no luck. Even one of the representatives told us to plug the modem in another outlet!!! Bish what???? That crap is not going to work and my outlet is far away from the modem. So they scheduled an appointment for today between 8-9 am. So I'm waiting for the technician while my girl is at work and the person never shows up. Spectrum called me at 7:45, 8:55, and now 10:00 am telling me that the technician is on his way and this guy still hasn't showed up. Called customer service to ask "Where's my freaking technician???" This lady gonna say he's going to be there between 9-7pm. WTF!!!! Hellllllllll NO he better bring his butt here or we are going to have some problems. After being on the phone with TWC (useless company) all day, we drove across town to this store, which is hidden in a parking lot and you will never find. If you want to save a lot of money using TWC internet, buy yourself a modem (Motorola 3.0 cable, Model #SB6141) from Costco for $75. They lease you a modem for $5.99 each month!!!!! I started with TWC almost 7 years ago and I would have saved $500 over that time period. Just make sure you call TWC and provide them with the MAC ID which can be found on the box and the Model # of the modem (if you're not tech savvy). Plug it in, cable first, then power, and you've just saved yourself a bunch of money!!!!! Makes me sick to my stomach knowing I paid these bunch of a**holes so much money because i was ignorant about a simple fix. read more

I usually never write reviews but I just had to write about my experience with some very pleasantly helpful people here at Time Warner/Spectrum. My first good review goes to a wonderfully helpful gentleman named Kyle from Customer Service who not only found someone to come help me with my dead cable box the weekend of New Year's Eve but also gave me ample options as to how I could further the process along myself if I wanted or needed. He was informative and knew exactly how to help me solve my issue though there were a number of obstacles. Thank you Kyle. Next I would like to review Aaron from the actual brick and mortar Spectrum store at the Crenshaw mall. It was around closing time when I finally arrived at the mall and as they were about to close, Aaron assured me he could still help me (which was very sweet as now I was eating into their personal time). He helped me exchange out my old cable box for a brand new one and went through how the new cable box was infinitely better and would be the best option for me since it was a different brand of cable box. He was very kind and helpful and I appreciate them staying open just to help me out! Thank you Aaron. The only reason I am not giving five stars to Time Warmer/Spectrum is because there was one other time I called the Customer Service line and a hurried and rude man name Max was the associate who I was assigned to. He rushed me off the phone, was rude in answering and belittled me when I didn't know where something was on the website. I thought he was so unhelpful and rude seeing as though he works in customer service. All in all though, some great people work here and are here to help! read more

Time Warner is the absolute worst business when you close you account. I close my account June 6 2014 and called several times inquiring about when my final bill would be delivered. No bill ever came, the next thing I know today July 7th 2014 my account is now in collections. I was never given the opportunity to pay my debt. When I called several times to try to get this resolved and I was hung up on three times. Way to go Time Warner. This applies to ALL Time Warner cable providers throughout all of Southern California especially the Los Angeles Area. Time Warner Cable is terrible and here are my reasons to why I cancelled: High Prices: When I had Comcast I had two channel Tiers and basic cable for 69.95 a month AFTER 12 mos. I added a DVR box which was only about 8 dollars more. Then when they became Time Warner that's when everything went downhill from there. Slowly but surely my bill started going up and after three years my bill was $90.00 for the same thing. Then about a year later I received a letter indicating that Time Warner will be going up on their prices to keep up with the wants and needs of customers. I got a bill after that and man...$99.67 was the price of my bill. Mind you I didn't have no internet, no channel packages( movies, sports, etc) and it was frustrating. Customer Service: Their solution to everything is to "Unplug the box and replug it" and if not that it takes FOREVER for a tech to come by and see what's going on. Somebody came in the Alley and hacked cable service through the box that supplies service to the two boxes I had and the screen was pitch black and I didn't have cable for Three days. In between time the customer service reps kept on telling me "There are technicians in the area to fix the problem." Two days done went by and I STILL didn't have any service so I threatened to cancel service and that's when they finally sent someone to look. The guy pops the box open and my wire was cut and hooked up to another wire smh. The final straw was when I was watching the 2010 NBA finals with The L.A. Lakers and The Boston Celtics and the 4th quarter went black for damn near Ten minutes. I thought to myself and figured it was time to cancel. Rumors to say the representatives make up to 1500 dollars every two weeks starting Idk how true that is but that could be one of the reasons why their bills are so high read more

My experience with TWC is very 50/50. A LOT depends on what person you get when you call and/or visit the store. I think maybe 30% of the time I got someone knowledgeable, polite, and genuinely helpful -- the person at the store was one of these types, fortunately. 30% of the time I got people who read from a script and who cannot answer basic conceptual questions. The other 40% of the time it was an acceptable but unimpressive response. My tech level is high and my attitude constructive. I understand why unplugging/plugging in the modem is one of the first things they check. I'd advise NOT doing this on your own and instead just calling them and doing it with them. It is part of their diagnostic testing and they are going to tell you to do it anyway; just humor them. It doesn't hurt to let them know that you DO actually know about networking and tech and that you're just doing it with them because you know they have to tell you to do so. Being agreeable doesn't hurt. I've also learned the following: 1) When you call, just give them your name and account phone number right away before you try to explain your issue. They always greet you by asking how they can help, but they don't know what account to look at until after you tell them who you are. so just tell them your account first so they can see your history of calls and any existing issues. 2) If you get someone who does not seem to be "smart" enough to go off-script (you can tell because if you ask a question, they just keep repeating themselves) just hang up and call back. You'll get a different person. 3) They can see which modems are online and which are off. Clusters of modems share what they call nodes. service is provided to nodes. They can see if a percentage of the modems in your node are on or off, which can be helpful in determining if your issue is shared or just you. 4) They always assume it's your fault and that you have connected things incorrectly. Don't be offended. I am willing to bet half the time it IS something simple with most customers, or at least seems that way to them. Trace the cable cord throughout your apartment or house and take note of any splitters or connections so you can tell them. Sometimes there is a simple thing to note that a tech would look for but the person on the phone may not think to ask. 5) The technicians are contractors for TWC, so their communication is separate. The automated voice lady will call you to confirm a tech appointment, but your tech will call you him or herself shortly before your appointment. In my experience, they have always been pleasant, professional, and punctual, so if you have to miss work or appointments to be home for them, know that they do actually do their best to not interrupt your day too much. 6) when scheduling a tech appointment, request they add an "early reschedule/ cancellation" code to your appointment. Not every person you talk to on the phone will knwo about this or offer it. But it is a code they add to your order that says if the technical has a cancellation, that you are on a waiting list to take the cancelled appointment's time slot if the tech is in your area. It's a long short and no guarantee, but it is worth a shot. My internet modem was dropping offline at the same time every day. I got a new modem at the store and that too dropped offline the next day. I was without internet for a few days until the tech came and replaced a three way splitter. He said the installation guy should have done that when he installed service, go figure. I work form home, though, so i am cancelling the residential internet and buying the business class internet, which is far more expensive, but includes 24/7 support and bandwidth priority. Hopefully installation will also be higher class. Regarding THIS STORE in particular... it is difficult to find. It is in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza shopping center, but under/within this parking structure on the south end of the shopping center, adjacent to the Sears area. It is difficult to locate and to describe. There are a lot of police vehicles by it -- I guess the Police parking is just in front of the TWC store? read more

John was amazing! He was extremely helpful in getting my bill down to where I can afford to keep it. I had recently received an offer from AT&T for $99 and I had called to cancel my 6 year service in order to take advantage of this other offer. He helped me get to a price as close to that offer as possible and I was able to keep my service. Thank you John at Time Warner Cable. This is why I have been with you guys for 6 years and here is to 6 more! read more
