Stopped by after finding out this was nearest official smog check station by me and I lucked out. The guy manning the front office was super nice and attentive. I had went on their website and found a $30 off coupon and he gladly accepted it. The total came out a little over $50 which is pretty cheap. I even forgot my wallet and he said I can pay later till my gf dropped it off! The whole process took about 30 minutes and they even offer free retakes if you fail. It sounds like most people on yelp have had a positive experience here. My experience was start-to-finish negative. The person I spoke with who was doing the smog checks wasn't nice to me and quoted a very high price for doing a smog check. I stopped by at the end of a long trip. When I asked if he would hold my place in line (he said 45 mins wait) while I dropped my stuff off at my apartment that was literally across the street (which would have taken under 10 mins total), he curtly said, "no." While he may have been trying to uphold some form nonsensical honor code, he came off as simply rude. Bottom line, I went elsewhere to get smog checked, hardly waited, received better service, and paid half the price. It's such a shame because this business is so close to where I live, but I won't waste my time going back here in hopes of better service and better prices. read more

Would have given them NO starts, BUT that wasn't an option. I was able to get my car in with out an appointment, so that was good. However, when it came to paying I was OVERCHARGED for a regular smog check. The guys was quick to charge me $88 FOR A SMOG CHECK!!! When last year I paid $45 at this same location. Which is why I came back. I had also given him a coupon that would have brought my smog check to $30 but the guys didn't want to honor it and gave me the run around about needing to call his manager to override your transaction. Clearly he didn't want to honor any coupons. If you don't want to honor coupons, don't offer them. He lacked customer service, yet they have tons of "Yelp us" signs plastered in their shop. When I got to the smog station, the guy said he needed a printed copy to honor the coupon, otherwise I would have to pay $79.99 + fee for very and tax. That's a big ripoff. Fast service and do the job adequately. It's $38 for what they call a "passenger car". Knocked off 2 stars because for my second car, which is a compact SUV, they want to charge me extra $10 for it. Most carwash places won't even charge extra for my compact SUV, what extra work do you need to do on a SUV for smog check?! The guy claimed that's how every place does it. The price for a smog check is $80 which is ridiculously high, I told the Asian manager I could get a discount for $30 elsewhere so he did match that. I did the smog check but it didn't past so I asked for a free retest since that's what it says on the big circle sign at the store front, the white guy who did the work told me that's for customers who paid the full price, so I walk away and he knew that I will never come back. I drove myself to another place for the discount price $30, and he would give me half price ($15) for retest if necessary. That's the kind of customer service I am looking for, great attitude as well. read more

This company charged about twice what I paid for a smog check at the smog repair business that I went to. My bad for not checking around beforehand, I figured prices were probably similar everywhere. They are not. I went back for the certification and asked if there was a price error. Boy did that offend the little man behind the counter. He got pretty hot about it. They also listed an error code that was not actually an error. This was caught by the other smog repair shop. So not going back. Price way high and inept service. read more

Are we talking about the same Speedy Smog? After reading these Yelp reviews I had to look at the map to see if it was the same place I went to yesterday. The tech had a car ahead of mine, but he took care of my paperwork and said the car would be ready in a half hour. It was ready, and he accepted a coupon I saw online for $29; with the other stuff it came to $41. The tech explained that I need send in only the DMV form; his test was sent electronically to Sacto. The service was excellent and less than half the cost of other places. Maybe it is under new ownership. I would never recommend going here...unless you want poor customer service...no one in the office when you arrive and you only receive a coupon if u have them printed out. You can go and print out the coupons but only if you leave your drivers license or credit card with the attendant who may or may not be there when you return.
