I've brought a few of my vehicles here to get them smogged due to the convenience of its location. Not only do their smog checks cost upwards of 70-80 dollars after all is said and done with the surcharges and electronic certificates. It usually takes a while to get your car smogged so don't think that the word "Speedy" refers to their service. My mechanic down the street from this place has told me that he gets more than enough business from all the customers that he gets from the Speedy Smog guys who do not pass their vehicles. I went to this location in December 2014 to get my Truck smogged and it didnt pass. They told me I could bring it back and they would retest it free once I had the problem fixed. Fast forward 5 months to May 2015 and I finally fixed the problem with my vehicle. I talked to the guys and they told me that I couldn't retest for free because it was past 30 days. I wasn't told this key detail the first time. Here's where the good customer service comes in.... Derek and Andrew says I will take care of you and doesn't charge me for the retest. Little things like that go a long way and I will be recommending my friends to this location as well as bringing my other 2 vehicles for smog checks as well. read more

Went here for the first time. Have to admit it, the best smog service I have ever had. I called in and ask for a quote and he said $79 for regular cars. I asked if they had any specials going only and he dropped my estimate by $30! While I was waiting, they offered me a soda or juice on them(originally $1). The smog test failed because OBDII monitor was not ready (this is different from when you have check engine sign on). Upon researching, there is a simple obdii readiness test with key in the ignition without starting the car. And if the obdii monitor is not ready, you will automatically fail the smog check. The person who performed the test didnt tell me anything about that and was quite rude, only interested and "speedy" in taking your money. Please have a decency to tell customers if you know for sure the smog check will fail no matter what. It would take less than a minute to check readiness. I do admit that i was ignorant of this fact but the owner/employees should have known already and tell its customers. And they ask you to pay again for the retest. I was livid to say the least. I would give zero star if i can. read more

This place is just another mechanic shop trying to take advantage of people. My father took his car there to get smog done and they knowingly did the smog even though you can clearly see big light that is the check engine. If your not familiar with working on cars you won't know that if that light is on the car it will fail every time. I told my father that the light was on but he is 88 years old, so he stubborn. I'm just really upset that they didn't check the car to see if it was even ready to get the smog done. All they saw was money and anther easy person to take advantage of. I love supporting the businesses around the area but you guys definitely drop the mark. I just want to warn people not to come here because they will take advantage of you. read more

Speedy no lie! At first I went to San Leandro Test Only but they had no one there. After waiting 10 minutes I found Speedy Smog. Called and employee said no wait right now. I forgot to ask the price. I get to Speedy in 10 minutes, and sure enough, no line! Technician told me $88, saw my disappointed face, then knocked off $20 right away. Felt like the test was done in less than 10 minutes since the chill Technician and I talked about stuff. Smog passed. $68 out the door. read more

WARNING!!!! FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND TECHNICIAN THAT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE MACHINERY. We took our truck to be smogged here because they are a state approved Smog Station and it did not pass - and we paid them 109.75!!! We then took to San Lorenzo Arco to see if there was something that had to be fixed. NOTHING WAS WRONG AND IT PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS AT SAN LORENZO ARCO - We then went back to Speedy Smog and told them what happened and magically they retested and it passed. So we had to pay $85 MORE to San Lorenzo Arco that Speedy Smog would NOT REIMBURSE US FOR. Shady operation - I will be reporting this company to the state as well - BUYERS BEWARE!!! read more

I brought my vehicle there last week for a smog check. My car was running fine when I brought hit in, however after I left, I went to the dollar store across the street and as soon as I parked and put the car in park, it immediately stalled out. When I was finished in the store and went to leave, it had a problem starting. When I finally got it back home, which is only a mile away, as soon as I put my car in park, again it stalled. Dropped in here to get my '06 Jetta Smogged. He told me it would be an hour an a half, not quite speedy... but there were 3-4 people in front of me. I had a coupon out of the Penny Saver for $39 out the door, a total of $51 in savings. That's fine, decent price and I wanted to get it taken care of today; they seem to be the only smog shop open on Sundays. I walked across the street to Jack In The Box and grabbed some food. Upon returning (Jack In The Box was a bad choice as there were about 50 people in there waiting for food) he was working on my car. He seemed to be having difficulty, kept fiddling with connection under the hood. Finally he returned to the waiting area and told me he couldn't smog my car and apologized. His computer wouldn't connect to my car because my car is too new and he said he could not get a clean RPM signal to smog it that way. His computer simply couldn't be used to smog my car. He told me my best bet would be to find a Gold Shield Smog Station as they can probably do it. So a good hour of my life wasted. If it would have worked out I wouldn't complain as they seemed decent and the price was pretty good. So heads up, he might not be able to smog your VW if it's newer... read more
