Born and raised in Spencer so I have been coming here for 35 years. I no longer live in the area but it is the best of the pizza houses (I've been to all of the others at some point and while they're fine, we always returned here). The pizzas are consistently great (try an eggplant and feta!) and great, fresh grinders. The staff is always very welcoming and friendly too. read more

The people there are very friendly even over the phone when I called in for a pick up. It's been a while since I've had to call in since most places in San Francisco you can just order online so I'm glad I had a nice experience. The pizza's were hella good! Everyone enjoyed them. Second time stopping in now recently, this was the pizza place to go when I lived a block over... age7 lol Great pizza and tonight we tried the Greek salad which was wicked good. The house dressing that comes with was a bit different than what I'm used to near my house, but in a totally good way. Hubby tried the taco pizza and would order it again. My daughter had the BBQ Chicken calzone and would order it again. It's a 5 star when the owner is there. The food comes out good, the service is great, and things are done quickly. When he's not there I ordered something I always get over the phone. Was told we don't have that. Asked when I got here. They have it. Didn't start cooking yet. It's been 20 minutes. read more

Gorgeous day out, left my office to pick up lunch. I knew that I was going to love it as soon as I walked in....the heavenly smell brought back memories of old-school pizza joints of my childhood. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad and broccoli bites. Salad was a hefty helping considering that I ordered a small and the fried broccoli bites were a guilty pleasure. After an extremely long day, I was looking forward to a meatball sub. After enjoying this place for many years. I will no longer go there. I get home and 10 min later our order arrives. Get inside get changed, go grab my sub and open it. There is a sub, with steak and cheese, onion and peppers. Not what I ordered, again. Yes this was now the third time. Awesome pizza place! After the local pizza house refused to answer my calls (no answer after 10+ rings) I tried this one. Not only did they answer (+1 star) but the woman on the phone was incredibly pleasant and repeated my order back to me. I showed up a few minutes earlier than they quoted me (my fault), and the owner I presume, apologized for the wait. I got the pizza home, and I was impressed by not only the taste, but the quantity of topping also. We ordered a large eggplant and sausage pizza, and mozzarella sticks. The pizza was still hot when we got home (~10 minute drive). The mozzarella sticks were average pizza house fair, but they were not overly greasy like most other places. They have a nice sized fridge with 20oz sodas, as well as 2L bottles. They also have Wachusett brand potato chips! Overall the experience and quality of this place has made it my new place to order pizza from. read more

I used to be the editor of the local newspaper in Spencer, and there were many long nights on the job that would find me famished. McDonald's was all the way on the other end of town on Route 9. That was back in the day when McDonald's served salads and dressing in plastic bottles that you shake. That didn't last long. I digress. A reporter who worked for me told me one evening on deadline that the pizza at Spencer Pizza House is yummy, and boy, was she right! She recommended I try a unique combo of spinach, eggplant, and garlic. Ever since that day in 2001, that has been my favorite kind of pizza. I would take that combo choice with me to future newspapers I worked at. Whenever I'd call the pizza place in the new town, I would not only get moans and groans from my colleagues, but I'd also get a, "Huh?" from the guy or gal taking my bizarre order on the other end of the phone. There have been other pizza places in southern Worcester County that have baked a darn good pie featuring those three ingredients, but I will always remember Spencer Pizza House's take on it, especially since that was the first place I tried it. The last time I was there was a few years ago, so perhaps ownership or management has changed since I used to work in town. I wouldn't mind venturing there again just to make sure that spinach, eggplant, and garlic pie is still tops. Although the combo sounds weird and unappealing to many, it's one to not miss (never mind that you definitely won't miss the bad breath from the garlic!). Nice crust and fresh toppings. The eggplant is breaded and fried to perfection, and soft inside. Perfect amount of garlic. Not too much, but enough to just taste it. Delish tomato sauce and right amount of cheese. Such a delectable blend of flavors. Good price, too. read more

Wish I could give it no stars, waited 2 hours for our order when we live 6 minutes down the road, then when it came they gave us the wrong order, then after I called to ask for the right order it took another hour and a half, and the food was not wrapped up well very messy, called to complain and the owner sweared over the phone for asking for a refund. Used to be my favorite place. Not anymore. In 2 months they have messed up my order 3 out of 4 times. Obviously they cant write down simply orders. This last time they started making my food when I got there (45mins after I ordered) and then I ordered steak tip stir fry with rice no onions. I got steak tips and French fries? I was in the area and by driving by I became attracted to the place. Quiet, Nice place. , parking is a little hard unless u park across the street. I ordered a veggie gluten free pizza, for my first time trying gluten free, I have to say it was really good, fresh! The kids had regular pizza and mom had fried calamari. Usually I love this place. I have been getting pizza there since I was little. I recently went in for two grinders. One turkey and another turkey bacon. The service was great as the owner is very friendly. The food was awful. The turkey was not sandwich meat and to be honest I don't know what it was. They put a tiny piece of bacon with way to much lettuce. I couldn't even eat mine it was awful. I am so disappointed because I have been going to this place for years.
