RV BROKEN INTO - DRUGS USED INSIDE - TOTAL LOSS! They do not deserve even 1 star. We had our Class A motorhome stored at this location for 13 years before Spencer St. Self Storage took over. In May, our RV was broken into, trashed, and used for drug activity. Our insurance company deemed it a total loss. When we reported it, the staff (with the exception of KJ) were dismissive and rude (Sylvia) irritated that we were upset about the break-in. After taking over the RV lot, they more than doubled the rent without making any meaningful improvements--just some new parking lines and numbers. They advertise security cameras, but apparently nothing was recorded. There's no real security presence at all. Sadly, what used to be a safe, reliable RV storage facility has completely gone downhill. Do NOT recommend this business. read more

I have been using this storage facility for 9 years. We have been broken into 3 times since we moved to an outside storage unit that allowed 24 hr. access. They promised 24 hr guards, and cameras, but neither worked that well!. They didn't even have a camera pointing in the direction of our unit!! (they told me that they are working on that!). So, i finally moved out, but when we arrived on the moving day, we couldn't get into our unit because someone tried to break in again and damaged the lock! The manager came out and cut the lock off and charged us $15 dollars!!! really?? After the tens of thousands of dollars I've spent renting their units, and the thousands I've lost in the break ins, they have the balls to charge me to cut off a lock for a burglary that they should have protected us from?? So, i wrote a letter to the company and have not heard back from them, so it was time to type this one up! Don't bother with this crappy company read more

I have been at Spenser Storage for 3 mos. Good location I am a 70 handicapped man with a medical service dog. I have been treated very poorly by the two older woman who work there. Questioning me over and over about my medical service dog and scolding me because I followed another car thru the gate without my code on 1 day. I was in a bit of a hurry that day. I was unaware that was a no no. The women were there when I drove in, Not sneaking in. I offered them a donut another day and they got angry at me. They said they are diabetic ! So How am I to know that? They are kicking me out and they also lied to their boss to get her to throw me out. They also said I was rude to them, no true in the slightest. If anyone was rude it was the two older ladies Spencer Storager is forcing me to move I feel that it is because prices have risen in Storage and they can get more rent fo my space . It is terrible for me, that I must now find another storage now in a few days. I am older and have a handicap & its really hard having to move again. After being hospitalized I fell behind in my payments. I took three months to fix it, but I did. However, the very next month I got a letter saying my things would be sold in two weeks. I escalated to a manager named Sandy. She was not interested in speaking with me nor my complaint about this practice. The $68 bill is now listed at $241. Do not use this storage place. CONSUMERS BEWARE! This place should be named Spencer Street Mold Storage. In one year all cardboard, framed artwork, bedding and mattresses are covered in mold. The office called it condensation when we had to peel plastic off the floor. A nice facility with a maximum security prison vibe. Some interesting customer service dynamics, the customer is always wrong. "You should be grateful to me for doing you a favor" (I asked to move lockers in the middle of the month. Was told I couldn't do it, which seems to be the favor). Crazy stuff. This industry is based on cheating long term customers, as they raise the rates on existing customers and have "Move in specials" every day of the year, free month, and a lower rate. The smart people move every year. There are too many good choices in the area. The place I moved to is twice the size, I can park right in front of the door of the unit, it has electricity, and you can see trees and the sky . And I don't get told to kiss someone's rear end for a favor that I asked for that they wouldn't do. All in all, it's nice to be free of that prison atmosphere. read more

Up until last week, I would have given this place a great review, having been a tenant numerous times before over many, many years. This time, I bought a padlock for the space I rented, and when it would not close properly, I took it back to the office. The woman there said, "Well, those circular padlocks don't fit the door of the unit you rented. I tell everyone that." I said, "You didn't tell me, and the person who sold it to me didn't tell me, and I'd like to exchange it for the one that does work on the door of the unit I rented." She said, so matter of factly, "Oh, we don't do refunds or exchanges on the padlocks." I took a second and then said, a little more loudly now, "However, you DID TAKE MY MONEY for the padlock that doesn't work on the door of the unit YOU rented me." We digressed from there, as you can imagine. So, Spencer Street Self Storage, how about this for a company policy? 1. You don't sell a padlock that doesn't fit EVERY door in the facility. 2. When you sell a padlock, that you know doesn't fit certain doors, and they bring it back, you give them a refund, or offer to exchange it for one that will fit. 3 OR, DON'T SELL PADLOCKS AT ALL, especially ones that you already know DON'T WORK. Suffice it to say, as soon as my prepaid two months and my free one month are up, I AM OUT OF THERE. read more

On my one year anniversary, they raised my rent from $92 to $124. Also, the measurements of the unit were one square foot shorter than advertised. I let it go because I was already moved in, but the more than 33% rate hike was the last straw. Also, their lights went out on several occasions, causing quite an inconvenience. They said they hired an electrician to check it out, but corporate was very rude in the process, so who knows if it was true. With the rate hike, the screwy measurements, and the lighting issues combined, I can't say I'd call them trustworthy. Additionally, access hours are limited more than others, especially on weekends. Very old, nuclear fallout type of facility. Gate security, but no cameras. Finally, their signs are apparently not very clear either -- I was meeting quite a few people at my storage unit to sell some things and most people got confused as to where the entrance was if not very carefully directed. read more

We've been here for over three years and are planning to move to a slightly larger unit while we are living in a corporate apartment for a while because I'm changing jobs. Our unit is clean, secure, and though some people here are complaining about the limited hours, for us, who don't go pick stuff up our take stuff out of our unit very often, it's fine and even preferable... limited access for customers also means limited access for thieves. Prices are great, they offer automatic payments, and are super friendly. We had to have them cut of our lock once when we lost the key. They happily helped us out and it only took a few minutes. Notice all the good reviews are from years ago? The people in the office need to retire ASAP. Rude ladies that want to get all worked up if they have to do any work. Office always smells like food and they are never working but always act like they are busy. Probably have no power in their personal lives so they get all Thanos on you when they are at work. Hopefully the person who pays these rude thoughtless lazy employees will read these and give a polite individual a job. The workers make this place trash I would rather store my stuff under a bridge than deal with them. read more

Moved here from PS self storage after getting annoyed that you are penalized at some storage places for being a long term customer. My friend highly recommended this place and so do I. Prices are fair and stay that way over the long term. Storage units are clean. No rodents. They pay attention to who comes in and out. Excellent security. read more

After shopping the area, this was the best rate in town that I could find. They have a move in special that gets you a free month and the facility is nice and clean. I had a rough year and had decided to move back to the L.A. area but was renting a dumpy room until I found a better place to call home. At this point, I had sold most of my belongings that I had in storage in central CA (after a not-so-great experience with another storage facility). In the meantime I didn't have a lot of space and happened to drive by this business. I only needed a tiny unit for a short period of time. First of all, I was thrilled when they told me they are family owned because many storage facilities (today) sell out to corporations and they are a pain to deal with because they give you a price and then add extra charges (like you have to buy their own locks, insurance from them, etc.) versus family-owned facilities that are just upfront about everything. Anyway, they got me in quickly (they even offered me a soda while they entered my information in their system). I asked for a unit close to the elevator and they were able to find one for me. I only kept my items there for a month and a half before I found a permanent place but they made my experience as positive as it could be during that transitional period. Up until Jan 2017, when I moved my stuff out, everything was fine. Until I found my couches, table leaf, and boxes were soaked due to the building leaking. I took pictures, told the front desk, and the owner happened to be there that day. He sloughed it off like no big deal. The first thing the office said was you signed a release form. I will not take responsibility for THEIR BUILDING LEAKING. I sent an email asking them to do the right thing in replacing my ruined table leaf and they won't. It disgusts me Spencer Storage is fine taking advantage of their tenants. And now the hassle of suing. Screw them. read more
