Today, after visiting Chase Bank, I found an Indian Restaurant/Grocery Store in the same plaza across the street. As I walked into the store, the place looked very nice and I happened to buy a combo menu and did some shopping. The food was great. This store can compete it's food with an Indian Restaurant that I often visit in Upland, Ca. I ordered tikimansala curry with garlic naan and jasmine rice. Naan is an ethnic Indian bread that taste pretty good and it goes very well with any kind of curry dishes. The store has some great authentic Indian spice, food, and none food products. I bought an Indian incense and next time when I visit this place, I will try to buy other stuff this store has. I spoke to the owner of this store and I personally thought that he is a nice person. I will recommend people to visit and buy some stuff from this store. It's got some pretty good stuff that it surprise me for sure. read more

I was excited to go here after looking at the pictures of the food and menu on Yelp and didn't realize they haven't been updated. The restaurant was completely different from what I expected. I was underwhelmed. The food was okay but it took almost an hour to come out. They forgot one of the things I ordered and I didn't want to wait another hour for it. Service wasn't good. All the waiting killed it. It even took us at least 10 minutes to get the check after we asked for it. This restaurant is the worst Idian restaurant I have ever visited . For food quality I give them minus ten , service I give them minus fight . I got there today about 2 pm . Even though the lunch was all you can eat . There was hardly any food . Also what they had was burnt chicken tandoori and curry chicken had lots of sugar. I ate three bits and left the rest . The Spice Jar was my first time trying Indian cuisine and I am very impressed by the food. I have a couple of gripes, but the food was almost perfect. Service: We came during lunch hour and walked in before things got busy. We were immediately greeted and asked if we wanted Garlic or Regular Naan. We said garlic and the man bustled to the kitchen quickly to get our Naan started. We picked up our plates, thinking we'd just do the buffet as no menus were around and nobody explained if we had a choice to do buffet or not. A second man came out and my friend asked me if I wanted a mango flavored yogurt drink- the man abuptly corrected her and stated it was real mango- NOT mango flavoring. So gripe #1, your customer may not always be right, but you can be pleasant in your correction. I attributed this more to a cultural barrier and shrugged it off. It's worth mentioning, but does not affect my overall review. Service otherwise was fine. Our drinks came quickly and our water was refilled promptly. Food: Damn Gina!!!! I saw Curry Goat and ran to that tray like Trump runs to trashy blonde porn stars. Everything on that little buffet was delicious. Normally, I'd complain about a small buffet, but each dish I tried was just...wonderful. The only gripe I had with the food was the Naan. It was a bit dry and some of it was a little burned. That was a four out of five star factor. Dessert: There was none in the buffet. My friend asked the "Real Mango in our drinks" police if he could serve us a dessert from the shop next door and his answer was for us to go next door. My friend wanted to have everything on the same bill and asked if he could just go and have it ready for us since our lunch hour was coming to a close. His response: "oh she's not busy, you can go get it." Ugh. That Goat Curry was so good, I wasn't as pissed as I'd normally be. No buffet desert was one more four out of five stars factor. Last June, I planned a surprise graduation party for my sister. Johnny was the person who helped me out on planning. He had told me to provide him with date, time, menu, and how many people will attend the event. I booked the entire restaurant, they allowed me to decorate it before the event started. I booked it from 5pm-10pm, but some of us arrived their early to decorate the restaurant. There were people still eating so we didn't start decorating but instead we waited because we didn't want to bother them. While we were waiting the waiters were super nice and asked us if we needed anything to eat or anything to drink. For the people working there , it seems like customers are their first priority. They want to make sure everyone is happy especially Kartik. After everyone left the restaurant, we started decorating and few waiter also helped us with decorating and rearranging all the tables in the restaurant. The party began and everyone enjoyed their food. The food was awesome. Their Reshmi kabab was Just FABULOUS! Overall, everyone that attended the event loved it. We all had amazing time from the day we booked the restaurant to the day of the event ended. We are very grateful to spice jar for giving us such an amazing experience. Thank you all! I decided to try this place after searching "hot and new" and seeing all the good reviews. We ordered two #2 combos, samosas, and pani puri all for $20!! Chicken tikka masala: I like that this isn't too watery or creamy, it's right in between. Taste wise, it's on the sweeter side and it has a small spicy kick to it. When paired with garlic naan, it's amazing! Lamb curry: this is good and the lamb isn't gamey. I don't love it because I am biased toward a different type of Indian lamb dish but I don't see it on Indian restaurant menus that often. Curry veggies: my friend said this didn't taste anything special. It taste like veggies with curry flavoring. Garlic naan: this is the bomb! Freshly made on the spot. I love that there are tiny garlic chunks on it! Vegetable samosas: This is spicy! I never had samosas that was this spicy but it's addicting. I keep going back for another bite after downing myself with ice water Pani puri: I ordered this out of curiosity after I overheard a nice lady ordering it and asked her what it was. It's hard to decide if I like it or not. You're supposed to take this puff thingy and put the potato garbanzo stuff inside after you make a hole in puff thingy. Then put this tangy water in it and eat it all together. I never tasted anything like it but it was fascinating. I ended up drinking the rest of the tangy water cause I was told by the sweet guy who worked there that it's good for your digestive system. Overall, food was good especially if you want take out. The service here is incredible. They're super nice, friendly, and would answer any questions you have. The reason I give it a 3 stars is because the place is a little out of the way for me. I'm only in the Rancho Cucamonga area a few times a month to visit my family and there are good Indian places to go to to satisfy my cravings in RC. The food was delicious, flavorful and plentiful. My friends got a vegetarian plate of some kind and I got the fish. Both were good. I tried a little of everything and loved everything. I'm not an expert on Indian food, but I've been to a few Indian restaurants and this is one of the better ones. We got more than we could finish despite not paying much. The staff was super polite. We came into the wrong side (the takeout side) and lounged around for a good 10 minutes, but she patiently waited until I finally said that I was waiting for a friend and she walked me over to the other side. During all this time, she answered my questions, replayed the menu on the TV screen and offered me a generous sample of the delicious vegetables curry, while remaining nice the entire time. We were the only people in the restaurant that night, perhaps bc it was a rainy, weekday night. Tonight we decided we finally were going to visit Spice Jar. The ratings and photos have been enticing us for awhile and we were excited to finally try it. We entered and took a corner booth by the front window. I had grabbed a to-go menu on the way in because I fully expected to love this meal and be come a regular orderer. After a few minutes we decided to look over the menu I grabbed as we hadn't been given regular menus yet even though we had been greeted. The server came and brought us the real menus, I put the to-go menu down and he takes it and places it on another table, I tell him I had planned on taking it home but he just walked away. Weird. But hey, maybe he's new or preoccupied. No big deal. Normally, a restaurant will ask if you've dined with them before, and if not they'll help you navigate their menu and make suggestions but that didn't happen tonight, yet another thing that seemed off to us. After browsing for a few minutes we order, the tandoori chicken combination plate and the non-vegetarian combination plate, which we will pick off of to share with our one year old who was with us. Our waters were refilled once while waiting for the food, and the male server was kind to our daughter, but after 40 minutes we finally decided to leave. No one came out to apologize for the delay or explain why we didn't have food yet, or give us an ETA, they could have offered to bring our our naan ahead of time, but none of this was done. Our booth was drafty, so we were now cold and hungry, our daughter was getting grumpy because her bedtime was fast approaching and she had not yet eaten. To add insult to injury, a man who came in well after us and ordered well after us received his food before us. So many things could have been done to prevent us from having a bad experience, but it felt like the servers were just getting through the night and didn't care. When we told the male server to cancel it we were leaving he ran to tell the female server, no apology for the wait or trying to get us to stay; if he had said it was ready and they would pack it to-go for us we would have paid for it and ate at home. Needless to say, this was a disappointing experience. I'm sure we'll try again at some point, but never again on a Sunday evening, and probably not for awhile. Im hopeful this was a total fluke, but with so many food options we'll stick with the places who actually get the food to us. read more

They mixed up our spice levels (mine was supposed to be mild), and her lamb was over cooked, and tasted like tomato soup with little flavor. Since we got it to go, there was no time for correction. First time here! First Indian food experience ! Ordered the vegetarian dinner , came with naan rice, chick peas, lentils , coliflower & potatos . The food was delicious! Exceeded my expectations. But service could be a a little better. The server forgot to bring the drink. I had to remind the server about the drink after the food got to my table. Also the water is served in wine glasses and I was not offered more water throughout my dining experience . They were quick to help me, and also accommodated my order of Garlic Chili Naan. It was absolutely delicious. Although I wish the containers were a little bit bigger. A solid $17.00 for my meal. Not bad. I haven't been to the grocery store yet, but I will definitely be coming back soon to check it out. The food was delicious. I'd have to eat here more, to have a more thorough review. I'm not sure if they use cream as a base for the curries just yet, or if they use onions, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger and garlic. I prefer the more traditional curries. I enjoy traditional Indian food, not Americanized Indian food. I'm on the search for excellent Indian food. But the food was very good. They have me hooked. I'll be visiting again soon and I'll have a much more detailed review. In terms of the service I received, the guy who helped me. Judging from my receipt, his name was Alex. This is likely one of the best spots we've found since Ashoka in Cerritos. The flavor is even better! You can really taste each spice. I guarantee you someone's mother is in this kitchen. Very tasty. Ok so. Second visit wasn't very good. I don't recommend the buffet. Definitely recommend getting to go orders. Was very bland and not much spice. Naan was cold and tandoori was cold and dry. Gave another try. Tandoori was super dry. Wish I could show in a pic here. Kids wouldn't even eat it. Thought it was wood. Hahaha. The tiki masala was sweet and no spice. Time for a new spot. First time trying this place tonight. Definitely going back. Food was delicious, portions were very generous, and the location was very modern and pretty. My 19 month old daughter was flirting with the waiter a little, and he was super sweet and nice about it. Overall it was a great experience. OMG AND YOU NEED TO TRY THE INDIAN COFFEE. I hate dark meat and couldn't even eat the chicken ... it didn't used to be like this. At least give people the option to have white meat only. This is one of our favorite Indian spots. We are big fans of Indian food so we've tried many places all over California (we move a lot) and this is one of the absolute bests. Today was our third time going. Their menu selection has something for vegans, vegetarians AND meat eaters and their flavor is on point! We tried the Rogan Josh & kaju khoya this time and it did not fail to impress. They also have a full bar and a champagne brunch on the weekends.
