Late dinner craving of Thai so we found a wonderful cozy spot in Studio City. My daughter had already been so I let her order for me. For starters we ordered crispy rolls , gai wings. The crispy rolls were deliciously crispy and stuffed with yummy goodness. The gai wings were just as delicious! Fried to perfection with an amazing taste of garlic. For our main we ordered pad thai that was so flavorful and so yummy We also ordered the drunken noodles. We got them with beef. So flavorful with bell peppers and green beans. I had driven past this spot for years, always telling myself I'd finally give it a try and I finally did! From the street, it's easy to overlook since it's tucked into a strip mall on Ventura Blvd, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice and welcoming it was inside. I ordered the Pad See-U, which came with flat noodles, chicken, kale, egg, cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, all stir-fried in a brown sauce. At just over $18 before tax, I found it a bit pricey, especially since I've had similar dishes elsewhere for less. That said, it was packed with chicken and veggies, though I did wish it had a bit more flavor overall. It was quiet inside but then again it was late. I really enjoyed the food everything we tried was tasty, I just wish the portions were a bit bigger. We had the chicken pad Thai, papaya salad, broccoli beef stir fry, and some spring rolls. This is a cute little Thai spot in studio city. They fit as many tables in there as possible so when every table is filled it does feel crowded. The tables are all for four or two people. It's doesn't seem like the place where they could accommodate larger parties. The food camp out fast and hot. I loved the dish I got but it was super spicy. And yes, it did say spicy on the menu. Don't take their spice levels at a place called spice season for granted. Even the curry my friend got at mild was a bit spicy. There is parking here which is always a plus. Came to the Studio City location. I've been to the Glendale location and loved it so had to go check out this location. I love that this spot has Thai fusion to offer so we wanted to explore more of their menu. Everything came out delicious and hot. I got the Satay quesadilla and Gai wings for starters. We enjoyed the quesadillas last time with the peanut sauce so we ordered it again. The Gai wings came out hot but that was a good thing. Then we got the Green Curry w chicken, pineapple rice w combination beef and shrimp, and basil Alfredo noodles. My fav was the basil alfredo noodles. I got the Thai tea as well, delicious as always. The service was nice and attentive. We made reservations and were quickly sat down even though it was pretty crowded especially since it's a small spot. I asked for sauce a container of sauce there must've been hundreds of these containers piled up. I said can I please have some of that and she said it was extra money and that none of the dishes I ordered would go with that sauce. I said that's OK. I'd like it anyway and she said no it's extra. I ordered the Lemongrass soup with a side of noodles, my wife the yellow curry with a side of rice. The yellow curry was 18 dollars for a small, overly sweet curry that lacked spices and frankly wasn't worth the price at all. The Lemongrass Soup was honestly the grossest thing I've had in a long time. It just tasted like peppery chicken, they threw in tomatoes which contrasted the lemon grass poorly. The broth was insanely oily and I truly couldn't taste any lemon grass. This dish is supposed to be light but filling similar to Pho, but this was an oily, gross, chunky mess that I would warn anyone to order in the foreseeable future. I ordered a mild curry and specifically requested zero spice. The dish I received was extremely spicy, to the point that it was completely inedible. I called the restaurant, and they assured me that if I brought the dish back, they would exchange it for something I could actually eat. They even told me I could come the next day if needed. I made the drive back--it's not close to where I live--only to find the restaurant closed (they're closed on Tuesdays), which was never mentioned. Frustrating, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned again the following day. When I arrived, the woman at the counter refused to honor the exchange they had promised me, despite the fact that the dish was untouched and I had followed exactly what THEY told me to do. I wasted two trips, time, gas, and patience, all because they would not keep their word. The service is truly atrocious, and the food wasn't good to begin with. This dish was simple but very good and nicely flavored/seasoned. Pad See Ew with Chicken: 3/5. It was ok, I've had better at other restaurant. This dish was a little on the salty side and was missing some sweetness. I did however enjoy the cauliflower that was included as most places just add the basic carrots and broccoli so that was nice touch. Thai Iced Tea: 5/5. This was fantastic as our server was able to make it 1/2 sugar. Normally it's very sweet but because we were able to customize it, it was perfect! Firstly, the lone server was not very welcoming and proactive. Then the food was disappointing as well. The Thai ice tea had a very strong chlorine taste so we couldn't even drink it. The peanuts in the Pad Thai was stale and rancid. It also had a bitter taste, probably from the bean sprouts. The Heaven Scent seemed like just some sautéed chicken slices over some blanched vegetables. The vegetables had little flavor. The khee mao pasta was the only dish that was ok. YUM. My friends and I had a Thai craving and decided to try a new place. I'm so glad we picked Spice Season. The parking lot looks small and cramped but the spots were pretty spacious and I was easily able to find a spot. The restaurant is lowkey and I appreciated the calm piano instrumentals they were playing. Our server was really kind and attentive, as well. The wait for our food was not long. Portions are big and I am so excited to eat my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I would definitely recommend the suki dry noodles. The star of our meal, however, was the dessert. My friends and I split the chocolate cake, the matcha cheesecake, and the mango and sticky rice. WOW. I love a dessert that is not to sweet, but still hits the sugar craving after a hardy meal. Perhaps I was being egocentric bc that's what I imagine perfect egg to be, but these were simply well done. The caramelízation on top was onions, but it was verrryyy sweet as though they were mixed with a jam. Weren't that great. It was like having eggs with jam on top. I also had the yellow curry. It was cute because the plate was served with a couple potstickers and dip, white rice and a side salad.
