Grandma's Thai Kitchen is so good. We have eaten here several times and this time we did take away. They are located in the Valley so don't deliver outside of Van Nuys, but you can always do pick up. The place itself is just adorable. It is always clean and well maintained. The service is great, whether you do pick up or dine there. They are all so nice. They just don't make mistakes with your order and it is given to you hot every time. The food is great. All of it is wonderful. We love their Paid Thai and any chicken dish is the best. They have great fried rice and even their plain white rice is great. There just is not a bad thing on the menu. They also have desserts and some nice drinks. Anyone who knows good Thai food knows about Grandma's Thai Kitchen on Burbank blvd. It's chill, homey, and the food is exactly what you'd imagine a Thai grandma would make! Cut to the opening of this location in Studio City a while back...at first, I didn't know what to do with it. Why go to busy Ventura blvd when I can go to the other spot? Well, I figured it out! My teenage daughter wanted Thai food for her birthday, but we needed a place that felt more upscale, but not super fancy as we had a younger (and pickier) kid in tow. And that's what this location is!!! It's a perfect Thai food birthday spot! Our house guests ended up getting into town early, so we had lunch instead of our scheduled dinner. The lunch portions are HUGE. They also come with a salad and egg rolls! I'll let the pics speak for themselves on this one. Our daughter also got the pumpkin curry and it had such odepth of flavor! The menu is abundant, including the lunch options. We got 4 lunch items and 1 regular menu item (no drinks) for $85!!! That's ridiculously good considering the portion size! The orange chicken is lightly breaded, crispy, and juicy. The yellow curry had lots of chicken in it (as well all know some curries can come with sparse protein), the bbq chicken was charred yet still moist, the pad thai noodles were as good as they come. Been eating at grandmas for years! My whole family loves it! From 3-80. Its right down the block from us and many years ago we decided to try it on a whim. The rest is history, since 2015! Fast forward to a few years ago, when they opened the ventura location. Love them both. Location, prices, feels and vibes, but most of all, the food and hospitality! Idky it took me this long to post a review honestly. And i wish this time i had better pics. We usually eat at the restaurant but often get it to go, which is what we did this time. New to me, but suggested by a friend, Grandma's Thai is a delicious Thai restaurant located in Studio City. When I walked in to meet my friend, I immediately noticed the "People Love Us On Yelp" sticker on their door, which is when I knew I was in for a treat. I wasn't starving, so I decided to order the Tofu Satay appetizer not knowing exactly what to expect-- and I ended up falling in love with it! You get large skewers of grilled tofu served alongside peanut sauce, cucumber sauce and slices of bread. The tofu is so well seasoned and the peanut sauce is the star of the show. My lovely waitress brought over another serving of the sauce when she noticed I had run out. I would come back for this appetizer alone! This spot seems to be on the smaller side and deals in a lot of take-out orders, but I still enjoyed my time dining-in. We came around lunchtime on a Friday and we were one of the only parties eating in. My waitress was definitely one of the highlights of my visit, as she was very accommodating and allowed for my friend and I to stay and chat for a while after we had finished eating-- we probably overstayed our welcome a little bit but we were catching up! Parking was easier than I expected alongside Ventura Blvd, which made the visit stress free. Consider adding this spot to your lunch rotation if you live nearby! read more

I've been here twice now and it has not disappointed either time. The pad see ew is delicious. As well as the fried rice. The glass noodle soup hit the spot as well. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos of them because I inhaled the food immediately. I didn't slow down just enough to capture a photo of the sticky and mango which was excellent. My guest had chow mein noodles which were in a flavorful sauce, on the salty side. We ordered lunch specials which came with a small salad, rice, two small glass noodles egg rolls. I ordered an extra side of egg rolls which we both enjoyed, It was my guest's birthday and we were brought a light and delicately flavored coconut ice cream with two fried banana rolls to celebrate with the traditional birthday song. The entire lunch was delightful. My one concern is the limited parking on an extremely busy stretch of Ventura Blvd. The other Grandma's Thai restaurant has parking in back and friendly service as well. Tried this Place on a Saturday was not busy. I have eaten at lot of Thai restaurant and i am very familiar with the Thai seasoning. I wanted to try this place cause i was curious. Will this place i am very disappointed I order Pad Thai noodles and they were not good at all. No flavor and the noodles were stuck together like glue the beef was very hard. When you order thai noodles and serve it to you its come nice and hot and steaming usually has scallop onions and other ingredients that are in the noodles. They used no seasoning at all. My friend ordered the Thai beef salad and the beef they used looked like lunch meat. No seasoning at all. I do not recommend this Restaurant at all. read more

I was super hype to try something new and lately I been craving Thai food. yet, I wanted to try a different place. So i just started driving and ended up GM Kitchen solely by accident. Excited I rushed in saw they were packed so I figured the food must be smackin. So, I sat down in the lobby and waited to order to go. 5 minutes turned in to 10 minutes and so I stood up and looked around still no one offered to help me. So, I walked around the corner because the cash register is next to bathroom for some reason. While waiting for someone to take my order. I heard someone come in the restaurant and immediately some staff member came out to help her she was Asian by the way. Just then the lady who just came in saw me looking and shrugged her shoulders as if to say to me, "have you ordered yet?". I guess she could see on my face I was not happy. That's when the staff member looked up and saw me looking at her like??? I was here waiting. At this point I was still prepared to forgive maybe she didnt see me. So, the staff member walked up to me and asked what I needed? Duh, I wanted to order. The lady who I think was the manager doubled down on her racism then POINTED to the front like I was a dog and asked me to have a seat and wait to order. I politely said ok and I simply walked out. Now at this point my feelings were stung because she was ready to take the other ladies order right away but asked me to sit and wait after I had been there for 10 minutes waiting. Now if I was high strung I quite possibly would have made a scene, but I figured that would only work to justify her nasty attitude. But really wanted to let her have it. But I just left...but I was seething inside. I googled another Thai spot not far from there in Noho. I found a spot called "THAI VICTORY" of all places. I though the name vindicated my recent treatment at he racist grandma kitchen. I walked in and was immediately greeted and offered a menu. I ordered about $45-$50 worth of food. Then the chef came out as I was waiting and asked me how I wanted my food? I thought to myself wow that was ok humanity. We spoke for a second and he went back to prepare my food. They were crowded too. When my food came out I told him about how "Grandma Thai" treated me. And he apologized for them as if to say were not all like that and I agreed. Got my food in 10 minutes but stayed 10 more minutes talking to host who was pregnant. I gave a $20 tip and left. The food at THAT VICTORY was unbelievable and I was treated like a REAL human being. So I have to thank "grandma thai" if they had not been racist to me I would never found such a top notch family friendly Thai Restaurant. Thai Victory Huh? yes it sure was. I'm sorry this is so long. Worst Thai food I've ever had...The crispy pork was totally dried out and tasteless. The beef with mixed veggies was tasteless. I usually love chicken sate, but this dish was tough as beef jerky. I've been to this place before and honestly walked out. There were no customers and as I was waiting to "be seated" it took a little longer than I feel it should have. Now, leading up to my current visit (as suggested by a friend), I was pleasantly surprised by the change. Although it had an "odd" smell initially, I was able to get past that and enjoy the delicious food. The service was good too and when I asked the server for a container to go, she promptly took my plate and put my leftovers in a to go container and bag. They do a ton of UberEats and Door Dash so that should say something about the quality of the food.
