From the outside, it's quite unassuming, but once you step inside, you're welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The roti was highly recommended, and although I've enjoyed roti before, nothing has come close to this version. It was incredibly delicious--light, buttery, and perfectly flaky, with delicate layers that practically melted in my mouth. The accompanying dipping sauce complemented it beautifully. I'm a big fan of drunken noodles, but the version served here was truly exceptional--the best I've ever had. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. Our server was attentive, patient, and genuinely kind, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. We've gotten takeout from here a few times and it's always been good! Here's what I've tried: Pad Thai with Ground Beef - My husband ordered this dish, and it came in a very generous portion. I thought it was too sweet for me and it didn't taste like most Pad Thais I've had or come to expect, but it was still okay. Veggie Rolls - This is pretty much salad/lettuce in a spring roll, and the peanut sauce is what makes it delicious. Not very large or filling, but good if you want some side greens. If you have a peanut allergy, skip these because they're kinda boring without the sauce. Panang Curry with Filet Mignon and added Japanese Pumpkin - This was a good dish! The steak was cooked a little too well for my liking, but it was generous in portion and the sauce was really flavorful. I was glad I added the pumpkin. Filet Mignon Pho - Not my favorite pho ever, but I liked that they offered Thai and Vietnamese options. When I ordered online, I didn't see in the description that it included bean sprouts or basil and that I had to order them for $2 each. I like my pho with every dang thing, so I spent the extra $4. The items did already come with the pho, plus I got an extra bag that I didn't really need to order. The steak was thinly sliced and tender, I just wish there was more of it. Salmon Rolls - These are pretty heavy, the fresh salmon is fried on the outside and rare on the inside. They come with a few dipping sauces, including a spicy mustard that I liked. Thai Tea Caramel Creme - This is honestly the reason I order from here. I am a damn fiend for Thai Tea-flavored desserts, and I crave this one all the time. It has a rich, velvety texture and a strong Thai tea flavor. I have thought of stopping by just to order this, and I probably will. Our orders have always been ready on time, although I can't speak for any dining-in experience, and I think it's a little pricier than other Thai restaurants. The website is just a little wonky... I like that everything is customizable in just about every way, and there are pictures of most items, but the pho order wasn't clear about what it would come with, and some of the upcharges are higher than they should be. I haven't been to this location in many years, but the service and eats definitely had me nostalgic. Stopping in for dinner before an event night, my friend Shaun and I enjoyed the Pad Thai (him) and their Warm Noodle (myself) w/ Tofu. The portions are smaller than the Rustic Spoon in Valley Village, but the flavors and quality are abundant. From curry to desser, noodles to rice dishes, appetizers, salads, soups, chef's specials and even a kid's menu. No wine, beer or alcoholic beverages available here, however excellent mocktails (Rose Mojito, Bloody Lychee), teas, and various classic beverages. We experienced a minor mix up with my order initially, I was brought a noodle dish with steak, but I think it was meant for another table since I don't eat meat and can't remember the last time I used steak in a sentence. It was an easy fix and we had zero other issues, aside for me leaving my bag at the table - they were super kind enough to flag us down on the sidewalk. I love Rustic Spoon! We come here for a quick bite or lunch and frequently order takeout. They're pretty fast, and everyone is so nice and welcoming. There's a calming atmosphere, and I really enjoy their playlists. One time, I ordered in advance to make sure everything would be cooked since we were in a rush, and they even prepared a table for us. When we arrived, they simply uncovered the plates, and everything was freshly cooked and ready to eat. It was actually impressive. We usually order the veggie spring rolls or the ones with chicken and pair them with peanut sauce, since the chicken comes with a different curry style sauce. Their soups and curries are so good! Love the ladies in the restaurant they are fast and service was awesome. Lunch specials came with free drinks, the free drinks do not include their specialty drinks. My husband got the Beef Penang with Purple Rice and I got the Soft Crab noodles. I didn't get to try my husband's Penang cuz my crab noodles were so good that i ate the entire thing. This place is fantastic! The atmosphere feels warm with individual table lighting and a small pot of picked roses. There is light non-lyrical music playing in the background (I say this because many places use Thai or American songs that can be sung along to), an old school chandelier, and at the time I came there were still some nice Christmas decorations in the patio area. The two ladies working, Noi and Nada, were so attentive and sweet. They made sure I had everything I needed and even offered to re-up my tea pot with hot water. I ordered: 1. 4/5 Oriental Beauty Bouquet Hot Tea (chrysanthemum & jasmine) which bloomed in the clear tea pot in front of me. I asked for a side of honey to make it just right for my taste. 2. 4/5 The fresh roll with grilled chicken which comes with a thin peanut sauce. Next time I will order it with extra mint for my liking. 3. 5/5 A small bowl of the Tofu Soup which was so much more flavorful than I expected. It is a clear broth, which can sometimes be lacking in flavor, but this was so delectable that I picked up my hotel to finish the broth! 4. 5/5 The roti appetizer was soooo good. I have had it at other places before but here is by far my favorite. If you are looking for simmering light and healthy, don't pick this. The roti was fried which made the outside incredibly crispy and flaky but yet the inside was pillowy and pulled apart so beautifully. The curry was also so delicious that I asked for extra. Regardless of that hiccup, the staff there was very friendly and did everything they could via candlelight. I was impressed! I ordered a beef salad, chicken pad thai and some gyoza. The dipping sauce for the gyoza was delightful. Chicken pad thai was a really huge portion. It was good, but not my absolute favorite pad thai ever. The Beef salad was really good, but it was just beef and not so much a salad. The beef itself and the sauce it was in was so delicious. Tender and flavorful, however I felt like it was lacking greens. I definitely do love this place and will continue to get food from here when I'm in the NoHo area. Delicious Thai food is served here. My husband and I had lunch here after an appointment and loved the food. The chicken fresh rolls were so good that I will go back just to eat that. Served with a special sauce. We also shared a pad see ew and a chicken eggplant dish. Both very flavorful, saucy and delicious. It's a cute cozy restaurant. Parking can be challenging. Service is ok, could have been better but the reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of their serving-ware and glassware. Our water and lemonade was served in these tall acrilic worn out cups that looked so bad. And one of the dishes had a chip. Once we sat down all excited to eat here the waitress brought out the water and we are like omg what is this. Can't they buy glass cups to serve their water and juices in ? Look at the picture I took and you will know what I mean. Very unappealing. We couldn't drink it. Overall it's a great place to have lunch or dinner Most importantly the food is great and next time I'm here I won't get any drinks. Or if they offer bottled drinks I'll get that. You haven't experienced life until you are sitting down at this amazing Thai place, listening (because they are talking at full volume) to a first date, which, yep they are in the "industry", as associate producers. I learned Jared the producer likes punch. Thankfully my friend showed up, and then we decided to eat. We started with the veggie egg rolls with plum sauce. Damn, these are good. The filling, everything. And not greasy which is huge. My friend went with the Tom Ka Soup and loved it. The mains: I have a garlic intolerance, and was eyeing the Pad Kee Ew, which in the menu says it's sauce has garlic and a black bean sauce. It does not note this on the web. Happy to report, no garlic sauce, nor bb in It, so the menu is wrong. I went with the shrimp. Amazing. The broccoli in it, the sauce, very light and toss in the shrimp with the noodles - yummy high five. My friend went with the Crispy Fried Chicken and really enjoyed it. The sauce it comes with is similar tasting to the plum sauce with the egg rolls. I tried one small piece of the crispy chicken and was impressed. The coating (made of wheat) was light and crunchy, the chicken was fine and again no grease. Service is outstanding. As for the first date with the APs, who we learned one is now a PA (production assistant), it looked like a second date was going to happen, although we were surprised to see they were each wearing sweatpants. I got a side of brown rice which was delicious. My husband got the filet panang curry and said it was really tasty. Our friends also got the same panang curry and the hainan chicken which they saris were their favorites. We topped it off with Thai tea, which was a little too sweet in my opinion, but still good. I mean everything always tastes soooooo goooooooddd in every way. No matter what you order from their extensive menu. Well, last night right when they reopened at 4:30pm we were the first 2 customers that walked in. We were greeted by a lady by the name of Pear who had a nice demeanor about her and a beautiful, welcoming smile. We sat in their lovely, beautiful, cozy patio that was so nice, quiet and lit with romantic lights. It was so needed to be there, enjoy not only the ambiance, but the fresh air, service, food and relaxation that we both got. Food is on point. Always consistent. As it should be. I don't know what their main ingredients and recipes are, but somehow they always taste GREAT!!!! We ordered 1 order of Salmon Roll, 1 order of Roti App, Green Cilantro Salad, Large Tom Ka soup with shrimp add steam tofu, an order of Beef Panang, that came with White Rice and last, but not least Pad See Ew with tofu add Shrimp. Everything like I have already said few times; tasted beyond DELICIOUS!! Just GREAT!! Pear checked on us to see if everything was ok, I told her it was more than ok. Thank you. They have done some remodeling with the restaurant which looked modest, classy, romantic and beautiful. Perfect place to go on a date and you can sit inside or in the patio. Both works. Rustic Spoon maybe be tiny, but they are huge when it comes to flavor, portions and service. Walking through the door we were Immediately seated and greeted with a smile. We strapped on the feed bag and ordered a nice variety of great dishes. The large Tom Yum was loaded with shrimp and was more than enough for two people. The Yellow Curry (ordered spicy) had large chunks of Chicken, Potato and Carrots - great flavor. The Krapow with Chicken was the favorite dish of the meal. The spicy basil sauce had some nice heat to it and it was excellent. We also tried the Warm Noodle Steak with red Cabbage. We the sauce was a bit sweet for us but the dish was loaded with several medallions of Grilled marinated steak. Overall, it was an excellent meal and the service was so friendly and accommodating. I'm sorry to say that it's been four years since I've last been here, but we will be making many more visits in 2023. read more

Instead of asking me politely to wait he literally shooed me with his hand and pointed for me to sit down at a table like you would a dog. On Rustic Spoon's website it claims the following: "The Rustic Spoon is a Thai fusion restaurant in Toluca Lake and Valley Village serving bold, authentic flavors with a California twist" There are just so many contradictions with that statement, the owner should consider coming up with something different. You can't use the word "authentic" while in the same sentence use the word "fusion" or the phrase "with a California twist". Is it authentic OR is it fusion. Can't be both. If "authentic Thai food" were a sport, Rustic Spoon is in a whole different sport and not even in the same league. Their Pad Thai and Pad See Eww are way to sweet. I've had better, real, authentic Thai foods just over the hill in little Thai town in LA. And if Rustic Spoon were really authentic, then where is their real Thai meals like spicy catfish, larb, tom yum fish hot pot, or yen te fo? I feel like those are almost a staple in Thai restaurants that are real authentic. And the Pho soup...please do no insult the Vietnamese community with your bland Pho; it's boring, it's tasteless, lacks personality, and it's a downright insult to how real, authentic Pho should be. TBH, you're better off going to Panda Express. read more

The potatoes were under-cooked and the chicken was not as tender as it usually is. But mostly it just had no flavor. I have to note the water was very lemony and we love it. Weird, I know, but it was yummy water. Apps: fresh spring rolls were so good I had no time to take a picture before they were gone.
