Pretty bad delivery meal. With food costs so high it's always extra sad to order from some place that isn't nice quality food. Chicken, chewy and mushy and not normal meat texture AT ALL. If they're "velveting" it, it's excessive and gross. Chicken Fried rice was okay. But so bland and mushy and wet. Also had the weird chicken in it. Peanut curry lunch. Tasted just like like peanut sauce covering everything. They forgot my egg roll so can't speak on those. The curry had a lot of the mushy chicken and almost no veggies. One broccoli, 3 large chunks of mostly raw red pepper. No peanuts. A few snow peas. Pad Thai. Not good. Weirdest and close to worst pad Thai I've ever had. It had a grainy texture to the sauce and was really thick and really bland but sweet all at once. Just a container of red mush noodles and red mush chicken. Why? I really can't understand what is happening. Is this like premade canned or frozen and super cheap so they're selling it? Pad Thai at better Thai restaurants isn't super hard to make and is much nicer. I am just super confused by it. It really reminded me of Thai cup of noodle microwave ramen-like food I've tried at Asian grocery stores. The gyoza were okay. A little harder and drier than we would have preferred and not crispy by their arrival. I could never order here again because we tried such a broad array and its quality was just horrible over all. Even the rice was mushy and very clearly not high quality jasmine rice. Nothing seemed Thai-like at all. Nothing was fresh, light, savory, or vibrant, all things I associate with food thai food. I'm sure with a few pivotal changes they could perk up the menu. read more

Did an Uber Eats order from here of beef pad Thai and it was really yummy! Food arrived nice and warm and with a pretty generous portion! Beef was sweet and tender, noodles and egg and sauce were very tasty. I prefer mine with a little bit more lime, but that's probably just personal preference. Would order again! read more

We were going to Gothic Theatre for a show, and planned on going to Whiskey Biscuit for dinner. But they were shortstaffed and the wait for a table was 35 minutes, so we went next door to Spicy Basil. This place is a hidden gem! It has a modern decor, but traditional cuisine. They offer a variety of spicy and non-spicy dishes. I got the teriyaki chicken with vegetables. The portions were large, the food was delicious, and the service was fast and friendly. I ordered online... Lo mein was just spaghetti noodles. It has almost no flavor and is literally just noodles. Beef and broccoli is fishy and lacked flavor, kinda flavorless. Rice was cold. Needs MSG and salt at least. read more

The food I received was not like the pictures on their website/door dash. The sesame chicken has much LESS broccoli than pictured. Literally two pieces. The spring rolls do NOT come with their own sauce. Was the chicken good? Yes. Was the chicken hot/spicy, as stated? NO. Was there sweet and sour/soy sauces in the bag? Yes. I've been ordering from here a while and it's usually been pretty good. However, this time our drunken noodles kind of smelled like it was going bad, and once we got to the bottom, my wife spit out a piece of rubber/plastic. That explains it! Absolutely disgusting. read more

Everything! This is the absolute worst Asian food I have ever ate! Everything was undercooked and mushy! Cold inside like it was thrown into the fryer for a minute or two! The rice was sticky! And the chicken was chewy! My dog wouldn't even eat it! What a waste of $45! The hamburger stand would have been better! I'm sorry but I'm discussed that they are in business! No stars! read more

We ordered to go and got 2 different curries. Both had the option to be made vegetarian which was great. We got the Panang and green curries. The flavor and spice on both was perfect. Horribly disgusting. Ordered pad thai, this is nothing to what pad thai is supposed to be. Mushy noodles and it's like there was tomato sauce in it. Super sweet and low quality makes you feel like you're eating Italian. Do not eat here, this place sucks. read more

Food was okay considering that they delivered to my hotel in double tree. The drunken noodle had a seafood taste even though it was chicken which I did not mind. However it was overload of noodles and some noodles stuck together and were tough. The tomyum soup is not like the traditional although it is close to it, they are missing some key ingredients. The summer roll was disappointing. It was bland with 2 shrimps and broke apart as soon as I used to sauce. It is OK for being convenient and nearby. But not the best Thai food I've had. read more

I've been in a Chinese food desert since moving back to Colorado from San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. Especially when it comes to delivery. But now that Whole Foods closes at 9pm, my options are even more limited, if I don't want to cook & want to eat dinner btw 9-10pm. Enter the relentless GrubHub delivery / rating search, which I sometimes corroborate with Yelp. I'd seen Spicy Basil a few times before, but hadn't tried it yet. WOW! Was I impressed tonight!!!! My food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the Royal Chicken and the Tropical Fried Rice, and both were/are phenomenal. I intentionally ordered enough to have leftovers for at least two more meals, and am so happy I did. The food was fresh-tasting, with all the right flavors. It was finally trustworthy, reliable Chinese food. As of now, this is my new go-to! :-) read more

I was over charged. I was charged $5 just for asking to "please add the sesame sauce on the side to keep from making food soggy" I was told they gave us extra sauce on top of what was put on the dish. There was no sauce on the dish it came out to be almost double just for this. And would not budge. Food isn't that great either so double the regret. save yourself got to Thai basil instead. read more

This place is great for take out. Probably the best in the city and good value too. Sesame chicken is a winner! Lo mein, crab cheese wontons, gyoza, and spring rolls are also good. They have decent specials on Door Dash too! The restaurant lacks ambience especially with all of the delivery drivers rushing in and out. Get delivery or take out. read more

I should have known better ordering Thai food from a place that is clearly a Chinese food place. Not only was the drunken Noodles horrible, but the tofu in the pad Thai was rancid. The drunken noodle is not using the proper flat and thin noodle. Flavor profile was completely wrong. Ended up throwing it away. Maybe the Chinese food is better, but stay away from the Thai read more

I order from this restaurant at least 3 times a week!! The owners are wonderful people and they know my order from my list of allergens that I include every time I order. Because of those allergies, my food needs to be bland-ish, but my husband has had the Drunken Noodles and loves the spice and my son requests the Royal Chicken at least once a week!! The restaurant is clean and bright. The only down side is parking can be tough but there's the King Sooper's lot just a few steps away. This is a great local business that everyone should try!! read more

We LOVE Thai! It's one of favorite fares. After moving here from Austin, we decided to try Spicy Basil since it was nearby. We were pleasantly surprised! We loved the sweet n spicy soup, the Tom yum leaves you wishing there was more, the panang chicken, chicken Pad Se Ew were all fantastic. We were delighted to discover that their orange chicken was not only delicious but gluten free as well. This has become a favorite staple in our home since moving to Denver. The staff is also lovely. Been going to Spicy Basil off and on for over a decade. They are consistantly mid. Huge menu is hit or miss. Stick with what you know and avoid anything fried (most of the apps). We used to love their summer rolls, but they were taken off the menu during COVID. They actually offered sashimi grade tuna as an upsell from the typical shrimp, and it was so good we'd get several orders... I hope they bring that back someday. The potstickers, pad thai, and fried rice are all good. An off menu item is pork fried rice, which is a lightly battered pork chop sliced into pieces and possibly the best thing they make. The various Chinese dishes are alright, the Thai hot & sour soup is fairly good. They have some cocktails on the menu which you should avoid, taste like they were made from a powdered mix. Overall, not a bad place, just keep your expectations reasonably low and you won't be disappointed. Everyone who works here is very nice. read more

Went here and were the first customers for dine in. The server was a little rude to begin with, I gave her the benefit of the doubt that they'd just opened. However we ordered Vietnamese egg rolls. I was shocked to find mold on the tomatoes that were served with it. There was no quality check done. We lost our appetite and asked for the check, and abandoned the main course. The server was dismissive and more upset that we canceled the order she put in, she didn't bother to ask why, and still charged us for the unappealing appetizer. I am shocked and won't be back, I do not recommend this particular Spicy Basil. read more

Not as good of experience as we've previously had here but could have been an off night. Still good spot for take out. Always hot but was not as impressed by the food (Lo mein and curry specifically this time) but still one of the best general tso's chicken in town. Would give this experience a 3.5/5 but rounding up for past experiences and not giving up on the place! read more

We tried quite a few things, and all of them were amazing. The Tom Kha was rich and creamy and full of flavor, the Panang Curry was delicious, Pad See Ew and Pineapple Fried Rice were also amazing. The restaurant itself has a great vibe inside as well and even offers authentic floor seating booths for a fun experience. Can't tell you how happy we were to finally discover this spot. A true gem.
