Spicy Basil offers a vegan option of Sesame Tofu that catered to a couple of my friends who wanted alternatives. We had done both takeout and dine in and both times were excellent! S Broadway is already known to have good food, but Spicy Basil is a wonderful high quality of Chinese Asian Fusion! There was a parking lot next to Spicy Basil, we walked in with our masks and were allowed to remove them once we were inside. We love their Spinach Cheese Wontons, they are delectable!! Soft shell and a soft crunch taste. We had Coconut Shrimp, it's soooo good and I love the dipping sauce that it comes with. My friend's husband ordered this delicious curry called Peanut Sauce Curry Dinner for those who love peanut sauce taste. The rice comes in a pyramid shape and it's tall and very well presented. The vegetables appeared slow-cooked with broccoli and bell peppers in a thick peanut curry sauce. Spicy too! Aside from the Sesame Tofu, I learned that the Tofu cubes can come in peanut sauce curry too. We usually enjoy the Sesame tofu because it consists of lightly fried tofu with the popular sweet and spicy sesame sauce. My miso was barely warm. My son's hot n sour was TOO hot (spicy), and he normally likes the heat. Not to sound like Goldie Locks but this place couldn't get it right. The only fresh n hot item was the chicken itself. The rice and broccoli? Nope. I will say that the sesame chicken plate was plenty for two and the chicken had good flavor. Never ordered from this place until today. I didn't read the reviews which I should have. Everyone is right when they say this is the worst pad Thai I've ever eaten. It said " popular " online so I thought I would give it a go. The noodles were over cooked and the sauce was weird color red. Normally pad t. Has a fish sweet sauce. No flavor at all here and I swear I can taste some type of tomato paste in this sauce. Am I crazy? there was no peanuts and Randomly there red onions in it??? That is not a pad t. We order from here all the time since the pandemic and are always happy with their customer service and food. Trick: Order everything extra crispy! They send the sauce, protein, and veggies separated so nothing gets soggy in transit. I even had extra sauce to make more homemade sesame tofu later in the week. They cater to vegans and will customize any dish with tofu to make it vegan. We have veganized Whiskey Beef, among others and liked everything we have tried. Clearly it was just prepared and packaged for my pickup. I arrived 4 minutes prior to them closing. The meat had a texture of chewing gum that was being rechewed after sitting out in the air a while. Chewy still but firm. I think it was maybe over-marinated, less than fresh or possibly cooked ahead of time and reheated because it didn't have that tearing feeling fresh meat has. It wasn't terrible by any means and the service was quick! I got exactly what I ordered so A+ for accuracy with my picky order. Granted COVID deals an unfair hand to restaurants so with that in mind, I will definitely try this place again. I always read the reviews about a bee place I try before going there because readers in this forum tell the story like it is. This one was tough - could have gone 3 or 4 stars. We ordered delivery, and got Pad Thai with chicken and tofu, extra spicy (one notch below "Thai spicy", peanut sauce curry, lo mein, crab wontons. The peanut sauce curry was excellent, though not very spicy. The Pad Thai looked great and the flavor it did have was good - just didn't have as much flavor as it looked like and we wanted. Child liked the lo mein - was different than I'd had elsewhere. Wontons were tasty. Will try again - may even try the Pad Thai again as Thai spicy, hoping that will give some more flavor. Second visit - almost the same order, except asked for Thai spicy pad Thai, and wonton soup instead of lo mein. The Thai spicy was probably medium to hot. I've had some bipolar experiences here. Got drunken noodles delivered once and it took forever. When they got to me they were swimming in grease. The sesame chicken was so hard and stringy that bite after bite we had to spit out because we could not swallow it. The potstickers were small, and mushy.
