The restaurant closes around 9:30 so make sure you get there early enough to enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the service. I'm not going to bore you with what we orders but let's say the Pork Jerky and Thai BBQ is excellent with large portions! The owner is so nice that she was even showing us pictures of her family after our meal. And that says it all...She treated us like a part of her family. This place is the perfect little hole in the wall. The food is VERY good and well-prepared. The restaurant is in a nondescript strip mall, but once you get inside it feels very cozy. Parking is good too. I especially appreciate how caring the staff was when my elderly lunch companion had a reaction to the spicy chicken larb. Granted, it was pretty darned spicy by any measure, but my friend is also pretty fragile. The staff showed a lot of concern for him. I will definitely come back (maybe not with my friend). This place specializes in Northern Thai, and their Northern Thai Egg Noodles are the best in LA! Must-try for any foodies!!

I am saddened to report this, but they have changed owners, or cooks, or management. If you love this place as much as I did, you can tell immediately things are different when you walk in. I asked them if they changed owners immediately and they denied it. However the same lady who was behind the counter for over 10 years is gone, the staff was different, they now accept cards, the infamous cash only sign and ATM are gone, and most importantly the food is different. The Tom Kha soup is very watery, the food is not very flavorful, the bbq pork is dry (though the sauce is still good), and the pad kra pow (spelling?) was too saucy. Overall, I'm so sad of the changes. If they didn't change owners they definitely changed something and hopefully they'll figure it out but it's definitely not as good as before. read more

She recommended the pork option, and I'd never had Thai pork before--but man, let me tell you, that plus the rice is hands-down some of the best Thai food I've ever had. It's not as spicy as I expected, but I just eat it with prik nam blah (thai chilis in fish sauce). The sauce that comes with the meal is so good, but beware, they charge $1 if you'd like any extra! The portions for this were huge, it lasted me 3 different meals. 2. Pad See Ew: I had low expectations for this when it came out, mainly because I like a good char on the noodles and chinese broccoli. However, I would definitely get this again!! I parked and ran into the store, picking out 3 hard to find 'Northern Thai' dishes they had listed on their menu. When the lady emerged with the cook holding my huge bag of food, I thanked them and sped home (if you're a police officer reading this - jk, I don't speed). "Almosttttt" - it was close. I sprinted into my home, opened the box, and was punched in my senses: the food was visually appealing, aromatically tantalizing, and when my hangry heathen self picked up a morsel of amazing chargrilled BBQ pork and took a bite - juicy, crispy, salty, savory - perfection. I can't keep writing anymore because my mouth is beginning to water and I can't drive all the way to Thai Town for this right now, so I'll just attach the photos and let your imagination run wild. #20 for 2021 After shopping on Melrose Ave we wanted something tasty to eat. You know what they say when in Thai town, order Thai. Had to drive there 1st but it wasn't too far away. Not very big. Parking can be problem forcing to street park. There is a security guard on the lot. You are required to wear a mask. Employees were wearing them. Hand sanitizer was easy to get to. If this place was busy there would be no room to move around for social distancing. Not sure how they would handle that. Wait outside maybe? Menus were on one of the tables for you to look at. I don't think they're sanitized after each customer. The nice lady was waiting behind the cash register to take our order. She may not speak English. I'm not sure. She did understand what I was ordering. There was three of us but we decided to keep it down to 2 items knowing we would be eating soon again. The pad thai noodles was your standard dish. Delicious and they actually had the peanuts this time. We've noticed this getting left out more often than not. We like the crunch from that and the bean sprouts. Could've used a spicier sauce but happy to have what we got. The pad see ew with shrimp was super good. You can tell this was not over cooked. Broccoli kept it's bright color. Sauce was excellent, not spicy but on the sweeter side. We will usually order this with chicken. To have shrimp instead was a nice change. read more

My husband loves this place and when he used to live nearby, he'd always order out from here. We now live in north Hollywood but he was working nearby and ordered dinner for us. He got the spicy jackfruit and this noodle soup dish. I like this food but I am not a big fan of coconut - but overall I enjoy their food. There aren't a lot of spots that I would drive across town for, eat at a un-assuming strip mall cash only Thai restaurant, but dammit, Spicy BBQ is the kind of lover that really loves you back. Unlike my usual pig-the-f-out method of eating when I go to a restaurant that I really like, today was a more moderate/adult approach to eating healthy and not being a complete over-indulgent child. That being said, I still bleed blood, and didn't pull *all* my punches.
