I love how this place is not too far from my home! There's a large parking lot so parking should not be too much of problem. $15 gets you 1 pint glass + 3 beer tokens. Every additional beer token is $4. The taproom has a lot of the TVs which they were playing all the college football games, but there are two additional seating areas. The one in the back warehouse has several games such as corn hole and ladder toss. I grabbed a burger which they cook on their custom rig. But they also had two food trucks out front. Now for the beer....it's not my first brewery. I've gone to several in Houston and in other cities as well. The beer is ok, most of their current line up is hoppy. Overall the location and ambiance is what will keep me coming back. I think I heard they will bring a porter soon so I'm excited for that! read more

Nicest brewery I've ever been in! It's so quaint and intimate and filled with the nicest staff ever! I was introduced to this place by my dad who's always looking to discover new breweries in Houston and we both love spindletap! I'm a HUGE fan of their hopper house double ipa. Had a great time here. The place is spotless - everything felt nice and clean. Also like that it's so spacious, unlike some other breweries, that are cramped, damp and dirty. The beer selection is pretty solid - especially for just starting out. Looking forward to seeing what they put out down the road. There's something for just about every type of beer drinker, especially when they come out with their stout/porter. Prices are comparable to other places. Also enjoyed the branding - it plays nicely with Houston and the region's history. Didn't try any food - but the menu looked pretty good, and more than I'd expect from most breweries. We brought our three-month old, and he had a great time, though we wouldn't let him try the beer. Maybe next time ... In all seriousness, this seemed like a perfectly acceptable place to bring the kid. read more

I have been wanting to check out Spindletap for a while and was finally able to on a Friday. I was a little skeptical of the location as the neighborhoods we drove through were a bit shady; however, as soon as we drove in, we saw the brewery and walked right in. It was not very crowded and had plenty of seating. They had giant windows that showed the brewing process and also had seating in the brewing area. We sat on the outer area by the bar and tried the flight. My only wish is that the flight was for 7 options instead of 6, since they had total of 7 brews. All the beer was pretty delicious, my favorite being the stout. Unfortunately Fridays are "Food truck Fridays" and we could not try their famed hot dogs, but the food truck was nonetheless quite delicious. Definitely recommend checking this brewery out! read more

Great beer and food if you're in the area. My favorite beer was their Amarillo IPA. The owners own a cattle ranch in CO, so their burgers and hot dogs are made with grass-fed beef. They weren't serving their burgers when I was there, so I got their hot dog. It comes in a pretzel bun and they have a your traditional toppings/sauces along with caramelized onions and jalapenos. Definitely get those onions and jalapenos if you love spicy! read more

Newest brewery in town. They have 4 beers on tap. My favorites are the Boomtown and the Toolpusher. (a blonde and pale ale). They also have a double IPA and another light beer. Good stuff, worth checking out! read more

so....there were some things that my wife and i liked about this place. the build out is nice and the atmosphere is pretty appropriate to the type of business this is. perhaps its a little sterile. i would suggest shopping for some oil field antiques to put in the store to give it a more personal touch. the girls serving were nice. we didn't walk into the brewing room but there are windows so you can see in from the bar. it also looked clean and tidy. they had 8 beers on tap the day we were there. my wife and i split a flight of the six darker ones. i didn't go to the trouble of memorizing or making notes of the actual flavors, but neither of us loved any of them. i vaguely remember a belgian wit, a couple ipa's, and perhaps an esb? i guess my favorite was the smoky stout(porter) they had on tap. i am a dark beer lover. not particularly a fan of rauch beers, but i feel like they hit the style pretty well. the others seemed to us to fall short in flavor and particularly in finish. i might go so far to say that every sip followed that wincing facial expression reminiscent of a scared little girl attempting to choke down a teaspoon of castor oil. to be fair, taste is what taste is, and to everyone, opinions will differ. as we were sitting here, the thought occurred to me that there are so many good microbreweries around the city now that produce fantastically memorable beers. For example, one is only a mile away. i just don't feel like this establishment produces a single option that makes them stand out. too mainstream? too watered down? too blasé? I guess not everyone can be dogfish head..... perhaps the worst part of the experience for us was the food. also, to be fair, i understand that this place doesn't really have much of a kitchen. the menu is about as simple as it gets. they have hot dogs and hamburgers. period. it didn't help that we arrived so hungry we probably could have eaten half a horse. the hamburger patty is definitely straight out of the freezer. kind of like a larger version of what you would have eaten at your elementary school cafeteria or perhaps what they served you during your last hospital stay. the bun looked amazing and it made the sandwich look equally tasty. after a bite, you will realize quickly its a huge load of flavorless bread and a patty that...well....rather than use more negative euphemisms, its probably better to reread what i posted above. we honestly walked out feeling angry at ourselves for wasting calories on it. on a positive note, it probably tastes better than a cat turd. my impression of the place was that it seemed like one of those establishments that an investor threw a lot of money at, but left the execution and details to someone lacking the experience to push it over the edge. it really isn't fair for me to say this as i have no idea what the backstory is. i read the owner's?(manager's?) comments in regard to another lackluster review and it did at least seem like he cares about the product he is putting forth. can this company survive as it is? i would guess they can, especially in the near term. this city is getting toward a population of 5 million or so and to date there are only perhaps 20 microbreweries in the area. portland, oregon is less than half the size. the last time i checked, they have around 80. in my opinion, if spindletap has the ambition to become something amazing, i would suggest hiring a brewmaster to take the recipes in a different direction-and a chef. please god, definitely a chef. read more

This business is in the heart of the hood Urban as some would call it but there is hardly ever any persons of color in this place nor is it advertised so that the surrounding neighborhood can take enjoyment of the facilities the gates are high and blacked-out so that you will not know that this place is there. They have just recently added to the land by buying one of the oldest churches on the corner of Langley and Hirsch wish they have also closed off and gate it I guess it will be for parking because there wasn't much of it there if this Center of entertainment drinks and food is going to be in the heart of the hood that it needs to be open to everyone not just certain people ;-) We hope that they know that We know that they are there and we hope that we are welcomed since it is a part of our neighborhood. we would love to join in and enjoy the festivities as others do. Now we won't have to drive so far to River oaks or midtown. read more

If I could give 6 stars I could! This brewery has been open for tastings for just over a month, but you wouldn't know it. It is obvious that a great deal of thought has been put into every aspect of Spindletap. First of all, the brews are diverse and top notch. Every one I tried was delicious from the blonde, to the honey ESP, to the double IPA. They have a very trendy and well decorated tasting room with a large bar top, and also several picnic tables in the brewery portion as well. The tasting room has tons of TVs, which would be great for catching a football game. The brewery has games like corn hole, and tons of space. The staff members are extremely friendly and knowledgeable (shoutout Vanessa and Sierra for putting up with our group!). All in all, Spindletap is here to stay! Great scene, great brews, go check it out! It seems kind of "out of the way" location-wise, but it's actually very easy to get to, with lots of parking. read more

Pretty disappointed with this brewery. First we drove 8+ miles from downtown, but since we liked their beer we figured it would be worth it. We were disappointed to find that the brewery was in a strange office complex and very underwhelming. Walked into the bar and it was a little better. We went up to the counter one of the bar tenders was welcoming and the other was stand-off Ish (she was wearing dark rimmed glassed m, dark braided hair and a hat. Sadly she was the one helping us. I asked about a tasting flight and her response was "We don't do those here." (Excuse me..It's a Brewery!) My reply ok, can I try a Boomtown? "We don't have that on tap it's in can. So no." Ok.. Oh I like that glass (custom Houston glass) "We're out without even checking. The other girl happened to check and found they were in stock. We eventually found something to drink and went and sat down. The owner or manager walked by us multiple times and never greeted us. Not that it matters too much but if you pass us a couple times you should probably say hi, or thank us for coming in like the others you greeted near us. (There were a whole 10-15 people in the brewery) So we went outside since it was pretty lame inside (non-welcoming atmosphere At All) we were hungry so we went to check out the only food truck they had and we were informed the "Little league party they're hosting bought all our dough for the pizzas." Bye. We left shortly after that and headed to Under The Radar Brewery. A non-pretentious, chill, place with inclusive feels and relaxed vibes. read more

By far, the best brewery in the Houston area...possibly anywhere. It's a short drive from downtown or the Galleria and you will not be disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Be sure to try each of their 6 beers and have the staff explain how they make them. Personally, I am an IPA fan. Their double IPA (Hopper House) is the bomb...best IPA I have ever tasted. Not sure if they do this every day, but on my visit the brew master happened to be there and gave me a private tour of the brewery...which you can explore on your own if you like. Multiple TVs playing sports and very large indoor and outdoor seating areas provide something for everyone. They said they have bands from time to time as well. Great facility but even better beer.
