Here we got a lot of food. The choices seem limited compared to other places like Norms, they grouped breakfast foods and sides differently. But the prices were nice. Ambiance is "Spires" yet they have a cool area that is like a sunroom. Waitress was skilled and food came fast, she was also well versed on substitutions for their menu. Would be five stars! But they only have one-one person bathroom for each sex... whoa, at least we came on a Friday morning, but a guy was in there for a good fifteen minutes. I turn 60 in three weeks, and my wife and I struggle with one bath at home, but Sundays, Mother's day, Labor day, Memorial day, fourth of July, Fifth of July..... I can't imagine how it works then, since my bowels often have a mind of their own, whether there are ample facilities or not isn't really an issue anywhere else, but here? This rides the line of risky for me, and kind of stressful. Be careful when scheduling group dinners, I assume they have an onsite clutch plumber! read more

I used to be a good customer at this Spires and always take my Aunt there with my wife. The quality of the food was always very good and consistent but we stopped going because the restrooms the Mens and Women's were disgusting and could be a germ pool waiting to provide customers with an infection of many sorts/types. read more

I used to frequent the Spires in Tustin growing up, going for their dinner specials, and although prices are much higher than 20 years ago, the dinner specials are still phenomenal value. For ~$20, you get soup, salad, choice of bread, one side, main dish, AND dessert. The portions are MASSIVE as well. For a Friday, we ordered the New York Steak as well as the Salmon (the two choices for Friday). The clam chowder was a bit too thick for me and not that hot, but I enjoyed the vegetable beef soup. The salad had very fresh and crisp lettuce, and the homemade French dressing was interesting. The garlic bread could have been more garlicky for my tastes, but the coleslaw was refreshing and the steamed vegetables were in a light savory broth. The salmon and steak were also both tasty. I really enjoyed the rice pudding for dessert, though the chocolate pudding was very aerated and too salty for me. Food aside, service was friendly. The interior is a bit dated but is cozy and warm. Parking in the lot was easy and the restaurant is stand-alone in a polygonal shape just like some of their other locations. read more

I hadn't been to Spires in a long time. I stopped in on a Saturday evening for a quiet dinner, and I was not disappointed! I ordered from the senior menu, Chicken Strips. Excellent and large portions, came with a bowl of vegetable beef soup, mashed potatoes, dinner roll, and tapioca pudding. All for the incredibly low price of $13.99. Service was great and the price, again, was amazing. Soft background music of 1970's and 80's pop tune. So relaxing. This meal would have run much higher at Denny's for example. I've never had an issue with any Spire's. They offer weekly specials and their food is good. The biggest unfortunate thing is the pricing has definitely gone up a lot (which is common) and their portions have got smaller (which is common). I went a lot to another location before since the hours were different and it was closer before it closed down. With the pricing and portion size, this location sadly isn't worth the drive. read more

Met an old coworker/friend at Spires when I asked him to choose a place we can conveniently meet over dinner (while we were both in the area). It was more about catching up with my friend then thinking about the restaurant but nothing (about the restaurant) got in the way. The service was so efficient that my water never seemed to be empty. My shrimp kabob was well cooked but not rubbery. We also ordered zucchini sticks as appetizer and it was pretty good. My friend loves the meat loaf here, it's a meal he regularly orders at this restaurant and says it's reliable comfort food meal. It was great to catch-up and I'm happy to have visited this restaurant for good comfort food as well. I don't get to this area often but I'll keep it in mind. read more

I had the fillet of sole with fries. I figured it's one of the favorites since it was advertised on the window. The fish tasted funny- like it's a frozen fillet, and the fries were soggy when I asked for it to be extra crispy. The place is reeking with floor cleaner, which smells like a county building. The service also wasn't great, the girl didn't get my order right and forgot to return with condiments. I did like the dessert (rice pudding). Please step up your game! Our waitress was awesome. She was extremely attentive and patient. I wish it were possible to rate the service separately because I'd totally give her 5 stars. Everyone had a really pleasant, welcoming attitude. The problem is this place is disgusting!!! Everything is dirty. Most of the napkins we were giving had random food stains. The table had unidentifiable waste in the cracks. The salt and pepper shakers were stained with food partials of prior patrons. It was just really uncomfortable, and I was hesitant to eat at all. Surprisingly, the chicken was actually pretty tasty. The wing was overcooked, and all had feathers, but the other pieces were perfect. The coffee was also surprisingly delicious. I've been coming here in the past for a while now so here's some stuff I can share. I had the ribeye steak dinner with fries and the steak was alright. It's a bummer that they only have 11-ounce steak but it's ok. The fries are ok if you just put salt and pepper on them I can say it won't hit as well. I don't like condiments such as ketchup so I can't say if it will taste better with it. (apologies) They do offer more than steak such as bread, soup, salad, etc. So its price is well worth it if you're on a budget. I had someone eat the salad and bread. We ordered breakfast, a duo of omelets for my wife and son while I tried Spires version of Danny's "Grand Slam," sans the sausage and hash browns...meaning my platter comprised 2 pancakes, 2 eggs over hard and 4 strips bacon. The food was about what you would expect-- High end cafeteria level fare. $67 for breakfast for three, including 3 coffees, tax and tip, seems a bit high. Water is chosen all around. The smallest of us had her choice from the special kids section of the menu..she chose the burger plate. We had two identical omelets and one order of Eggs Benedict with a homestyle potato. One chose a Ceasar Salad that was huge and needed a to go box afterwards. A Cheese burger and a bacon cheese burger both adorned with golden French fries. One order of Fish and Chips that was a good taste drizzled with malt vinegar. Now my order was a Pork Chop value meal. It includes soup and salad and garlic toast and a dessert afterwards. Our table was well attended by Sonia. She made sure we had our drinks and napkins and overall taken care off. Judging by the empty plates, the food was prepared to everyone's liking. My pork chop value meal was great. Gotta admit that Spires was a great choice for a hungry family. We have been here several times. This is an older, quintessential "coffee shop". The thing I like about this Spires is the friendly staff. You always feel welcome and cared for. Today was another episode in the great soup quest. Every day they serve vegetable beef soup and chili. There is a regular rotation of another soup each day of the week, today (Thursday) being Broccoli Cheese. Soup is served with saltine crackers. I had the vegetable beef. This soup was very good,with a tasty tomato base broth. The vegetables were green beans, corn, carrots, turnip, cabbage, celery and onions. The beef is ground into small pieces for a light touch of protein. The Broccoli Cheese was thick and creamy, a nice hearty soup that leaves you satisfied until supper. This is not a deluxe gourmet restaurant, but a good place for nice meal, at a great price point. Two bowls of soup and beverages came to $12. read more
