Booths need to be wiped down better and vacuumed in the crevices at night. Some nasty stuff popping out.

Overall the restaurant was good. Our server Valeria was great. She refilled drinks, brought everything we asked for and was pleasant and helpful. Food was very good, I miss the tuna manhattan and chocolate mousse though. Well lit, but music was a bit loud which made people talk louder and they did, especially in the back room. The booths really need a good cleaning. Wipe them down with disinfectant and get the vacuum attachment, those crevices are disgustingly dirty. Dirty dishes should be taken away sooner but I thought maybe understaffing was in play for a Sunday afternoon. Overall the experience was fine, not sure if we would return though. Wait for food is always long.

I must admit when you think Mimi's Cafe you don't really think about mixed drinks, but the manager here Matt made me a beautiful Cucumber and Mint gin and tonic. I will gladly drink this along with my Hibachi Salmon, which is excellent here. Everyone on staff here is amazing especially Leila, Lexi, Dalia, Dulce, Johanna, and Valeria.

It's not your grandma's French cafe, as it was known to cater to an aging clientele. We used to be regulars at the Mimi's Cafe in Long Beach, when our son was young and that restaurant was buzzing. Alas, youth doesn't last forever, and neither did the restaurant in Long Beach. Mostly for nostalgic reasons, I decided to stop by at the Lakewood branch for lunch. It's right across the street from work, so it's convenient and obvious. I was impressed by their revamped menu, and I was even more surprised by the quality of their food. The tuna melt I ordered as a part of the trio menu was tastefully and tastily grilled to perfection, and the French onion soup was better than I remembered. The soup was a bit salty at first, but it complemented well with the half sandwich. Ambiance was as I remembered, with commodious interior and cute bucolic decoration. Service was charming and efficient. It won't be my last time visiting.

Cute atmosphere and the grounds are well kept. Inside is decorated very quaintly. Has a very home style appeal. I ordered a Cappuccino, and the Crab Cake Benedict, which comes with roasted house potatoes. The Cappuccino was super hot and had the right amount of foam. The plate arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and was delivered by friendly staff. The presentation was very good. The potatoes were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The crab cake Benedict was very nicely done. I cannot say anything negative about my experience at Mimi's Cafe. As a matter of fact I may come back for Dinner on another day. Thumbs up!

Had a late brunch with kids and decided to visit our local ministry restaurant. Food was delicious and Joana took care of us very well. She even told us about the muffin special going on and we order some to go!

Ok service and the food was not that good and it really didn't have any taste to it they needed more seasoning on pretty much everything. They also don't really have a good selection for breakfast

I've visited Mimi's Cafe several times at the Downey location, but not at this one. I placed a to-go order because I was in a hurry. The ambiance was the usual afternoon vibe at Mimi's Cafe, with plenty of seating and staff. This location offers outdoor seating, but with this hot weather, I suggest sitting inside to enjoy the air conditioner. They have a bar area where they offer a variety of beers, liquor, and mixed drinks. My server, Johanna, provided me with a menu, and I was reminded of the wide range of food they serve. When I asked her for a recommendation on a sandwich, she suggested the Turkey Pesto Ciabatta, which I ordered. My sandwich cost $18.73, which some might find a bit pricey. My order took 10 minutes, and then I was out the door. My Turkey Pesto Ciabatta was a decent size with plenty of fries. The bread was warm and crispy, and the turkey and other condiments were flavorful. The avocado and balsamic dressing was a nice added touch to the sandwich. The fries were well-salted and crispy, which went well with my sandwich. In conclusion, the sandwich was delicious and fulfilling. If I ever order a sandwich from Mimis Cafe, I will order the Turkey Pesto Ciabatta again.

Mimi's Cafe is an upgraded coffee shop. It's definitely a step above a coffee shop. The baked goods are very nice. I particularly like the carrot raisin bread; they now do those in madelines. The French Onion soup is pretty good. It's not amazing. But it works. The sandwiches are fine, as are the salads. It's a casual eating place , like a diner/coffee shop. It's a little nicer. The service is very much like a coffee shop. The severs are pleasant and they do a good job. I prefer Mimi's to a generic coffee shop. In the past, they gave you a bread basket; now you have to pay for bread, making it more like a diner/coffee shop and less like a restaurant. That's fine. Just realize where you're going.

Fish and Chips. Coleslaw is not pictured
    Dale P.

I ordered Fish and Chips. Quality of the Fish was good. Quality of the French Fries was also very decent. However each of the three pieces of fish were small Coleslaw had onions. NOT GOOD!!!!! I asked the server if it was possible to have coleslaw without onions and she said no. Server did bring sourdough bread and real butter... good. My mother had pot roast and she was pleased. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I thought that the service was lackluster at best. I had "wooder" to drink and I actually had to signal another server for a refill. Seems to me that the servers don't readily offer refills... not good. If I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school I think I would give this establishment a C-.

The omelette has fresh pieces of vegetables in it , gives it a nice crunch and bursting with flavor! I've had the French toast, which is really good ! They also make their own jam, which is so delicious ! I look forward to a piece of toast with jam every time I go, the peach and the raspberry are my favorite. The wait staff is on top of things! In spite of it being so busy, they are quick, friendly and efficient every time! I kind of don't wanna leave this review and gate keep the place but that just wouldn't be nice ! My husband and I are retired and we have been going there at least once a week , it's so so so good! I had to edit this review because I wanted to mention that I was reading some of the other reviews and somebody said the pancake " just OK" I am very picky about my pancakes and these pancakes are so good ! Served with warm syrup and lots of butter! But very flavorful without anything on them too. Fresh squeezed orange juice as well ! I forgot to mention that! I was excited about the coffee flight- my favorite was the raspberry mint mojito. If you order the flight, I recommend drinking from the mint mojito - raspberry - blackberry. Our server was nice and she explained the menu. She also mentioned that they take their food seriously, and she was not kidding. I liked how they set up the menu because in a specific section (I think, or maybe it's all sections can't remember) you order one of the main dishes and it comes with a small plate already. I ordered the custard French toast with a side of eggs and bacon. The BACON! Normally when I order bacon at places it's not something I overly enjoy because often times it's too hard or too oily-- I swear this was the perfect piece of bacon I've ever had. My husband ordered the beef short rib hash and I've never seen him eat sweet potatoes ever in our many years together. If I remember correctly, he cleaned his bowl of food. He was a little late in adding the sauce, which he regrets, so if you order this don't forget to try it with the sauce in the beginning. Inside the restaurant has some pretty interesting art around Filipino culture. Some minor feedback being that as fellow Filipinos were dining at the restaurant- I didn't quite understand the Filipino art or how that tied into the theme or roots of the restaurant or its history and would've loved to know more on how that came about or the story behind the choice to have that theme. Nevertheless, everything was amazing.

I ordered the all-day hibachi with steak and fried rice, with a side of banana pancakes. The banana pancakes absolutely stole the show. They were hands down some of the best banana pancakes I've ever had. It's surprisingly difficult to find places that actually mix real banana pieces into the batter, but these did, and they were incredibly fluffy and practically melted in your mouth. I'll definitely be ordering them again. The fried rice was also really good and flavorful. The steak was probably my least favorite part of the meal. It wasn't bad, but I personally would have liked a little more seasoning. My friend ordered the crab omelet and said it was absolutely delicious, and the chai tea latte was a great addition to the meal. One thing that surprised me was the ordering process. I was expecting traditional table service, but instead you order at the counter when you walk in. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just different from what I expected. What did catch me off guard was being prompted to leave a tip before receiving any service. Maybe I'm old school, but in a counter-service setting, I'm not always sure what the tipping expectations are. The restaurant got very crowded shortly after we placed our order, and the line at the counter started to build up. It actually made me wonder whether having servers take orders at the table would help things flow a little more smoothly during busy periods. I'm not sure if it would make a difference, but it was something I found myself thinking about while watching the crowd grow. That said, the staff was friendly, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and it's easy to see why this place stays busy. They have a huge menu with tons of options, so there's something for everyone. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back. The banana pancakes alone are worth the return trip, and next time I'll be looking forward to trying more items from the menu.

My Monte Cristo was pan-fried and not deep-fried the traditional way, cut and served as three pieces. The French toast was prepared nicely and the turkey, ham, and cheese inside were fine. A small ramekin of syrup was provided, not nearly enough for dipping, but there was a full dispenser of syrup on the table so no problem. Usually a berry jam is provided on the side but they provided some sort of mysterious fruit jam that was bitter and a single small taste of it was all it took to deny it from further use. Yuck. The bowl of fruit was a great choice for a side. It was all bursting with flavor - strawberries, banana slices, and blueberries! I was glad I chose this over potatoes or fries. The iced vanilla latte was, at best, simply "okay". The flavor was weak. Overall, it was a fine breakfast meal.

When we first got there, they were plenty of empty tables and it took quite a while to be seated , but by the time we were served our food, the place was packed Four of us ordered Chilaquiles four different ways as far as how we wanted, our eggs, cooked and meat or no meat, red or green... and only one of the orders came out correctly. We asked for waters all around and they never brought them to us until I had to remind them 25 minutes into being seated. The food is mediocre, but the presentation is very nice .. if you don't mind bland soggy Chilaquiles then this is your place! Waiter was a little bit arrogant .. the place is run by youngsters so it wasn't shocking that the service wasn't great, when they brought our extremely hot lattes to us, they held it over my two-year-old granddaughter's head, which would have been a scalding nightmare had he dropped it on her. We won't be back

The parking was pretty empty and there was no line, so why not? FYI there is overflow parking next door so do not fret if you can't find one in their little lot. The restaurant itself is like a cafe with pretty cool waitresses and bussers. There is a cute electric train that runs around the top ledge of the dining room which I thought was pretty cute. As for the food, I had the chorizo and eggs plate. It came with tortillas and refried beans. It was delicious and was simple but great. If needed, they have a soyrizo version too. Overall, pretty chill cafe and affordable. We will definitely be back.

Inside, the place is clean but definitely could use some updates - 6/10. Staff were very nice and friendly, though I wish coffee refills were automatic - 7/10. The food reminds me of home cooking. I really enjoyed their Mexican dishes but preferred the breakfast menu overall. The hobo omelet and breakfast potatoes had great flavor. However, the biscuits and gravy were disappointing, tasting like store-bought biscuits and canned gravy--probably from Costco or Sam's Club. Coffee was very good, but I wish someone would walk around constantly refilling cups. Overall, a decent spot with some room for improvement.

Our server was really attentive and checked in frequently at first but was less attentive during the meal itself (e.g. no water or coffee refills). The food is okay- what youd expect from a diner. The meal started off with some warm and fresh conchas, which set the the tone for a meal. But the meal itself tasted like it was made from pre-made or canned sauces, so it was a little disappointing because of the tone that was set with the complimentary conchas.
