Oh Polly. Let's get into the good & bad. It was busy the Friday afternoon I had gone. I got sat right away regardless. I love the home diner feel, it's cute and cozy inside. I ordered the breakfast burrito ... ..... Where's the flavor ?!!! It was extremely bland. Very depressing. I only liked the quality of the tortilla. No side salsa or anything with it. I had fruit as a side. The blueberry muffin with salted butter was absolutely delicious though!! I don't normally get a blueberry muffin but this one was super good!! Sweet but not too sweet. After paying I had asked last minute for a chocolate chip cookie & I'm assuming the manager gave it on the house. I thought that was super kind. The cookie was pretty good. I loved the crunch & chewiness to it. It was one of the better chocolate chip cookies I had. Service was on point, our waiter was ON IT. I was impressed. Polly's Pies serves classic diner fare that is decent but ultimately unremarkable. The food isn't bad, but much of it tastes generic and lacks the freshness or character that makes a meal memorable. One unfortunate reality of modern casual dining is that many restaurants rely heavily on commercially prepared, "heat-and-serve" ingredients. While I can't say exactly how every dish at Polly's is made, some savory items occasionally gave me the impression of being reheated or sourced from pre-made commercial products rather than cooked from scratch. As for the bakery, Polly's says that some of its desserts are baked in-house, and I have no reason to doubt that. However, they still tasted somewhat mass-produced to me. My biggest criticism is the sweetness. Pies like the Apple Pie and Banberry (banana and strawberry) Pie leaned heavily toward sweetness without enough acidity, spice, or other contrasting flavors to create a more balanced, complex dessert. Many of the cream pies also seemed overloaded with whipped cream, which further masked the filling. The standout items, in my opinion, are the muffins and biscuits. They tasted noticeably fresher than the other baked goods and had a pleasant texture and flavor. Served warm with butter, they're easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, Polly's Pies is a perfectly acceptable diner if you're looking for a casual meal, but it isn't a place I'd seek out for its savory dishes. Polly, I finally figured out what you're doing: Trying to go from 4 stars to 1. From good to bad. From hero to zero. From...okay you get the point. I had completed my Bingo Bonanza card by visiting the Los Alamitos location two more times after my last visit to the Long Beach location. I thought I'd give them one more try to redeem themselves as well as my last reward of a free whole pie. I was heading out of town for Memorial Day weekend to a Polly's Pies-less place, and I wanted a bake-at-home pie to share at my destination. I know that Polly's Pies bakes whole pies, but recently learned that Polly's offers five pies in frozen form: Peach Apricot Rhubarb Blueberry Cherry NSA (No Sugar Added) With America's 250th birthday just around the corner, I was intent on getting a blueberry bake-at-home pie. I wasn't too far from the Long Beach location, so I thought I'd stop by and see if I could redeem the reward here. However, when I came up to the register to let the employee know I was going to redeem my reward of a free whole pie, I asked if it could work on a bake-at-home pie. She asked her manager (Irvin I believe), but they informed me that it would only work on ready to eat pies. Problem is, I was planning to head out of town the next day, so by choosing a ready to eat pie, I would have wasted one day of freshness before bringing it to my intended destination. Their ready to eat pies would only last for a few days in the fridge or on the counter, depending on the type of pie, and losing one day would have made a big difference. I don't like to argue since I was recently highlighted as an Elite who embodies Yelp's value of "play well with others", and they clearly didn't play well with me, especially since the fine print didn't spell out a stipulation that would disallow for bake-at-home pies. Wait, didn't something similar happen last time as well? Oh yeah! Danna, the server on my last visit, initially said that a King Edward's Club sandwich wouldn't qualify for a $5 burger/sandwich combo even though the fine print didn't spell out that stipulation. And with management at the Long Beach location becoming even more incompetent at their jobs, I really shouldn't be surprised at their made-up rule about the free whole pie being only allowed for ready to eat pies. As an epilogue, I revisited the Los Alamitos location to redeem the free whole pie, and there, I met one of the loveliest employees that the entire Long Beach team should really learn customer service from. She was happy enough to make the free whole pie reward work on a bake-at-home pie and even egg wash it to boot. That was the best of Polly's Pies. This was the worst of Polly's Pies. We stopped by this Polly Pies on Wednesday their Bingo Night, this location is much smaller than the other ones we have visited before. Even though it's small, I would say it was still difficult to get an order taken and get the attention of our waiter. We got the Salisbury steak, tuna, salad sandwich, and a couple slices of pie. All the food was up to par. I really enjoyed trying the strawberry lemonade pie. I've never had it before and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too tart or sweet and came with a lot of whipped cream. We also got the banana cream pie, which is one of our favorites and the custard pie. In terms of their bingo night, I think they did a great job of keeping the crowd engaged with trivia and random facts about the day and pop culture. The breakfast omelet and hash browns were sitting in a pool of oil. The bran muffins were all that were left, for good reason. It was dry and tasteless. The server was in such a hurry to clear the seat that I was not offered a refill on my cold coffee and once the food was set in front of me, I didn't see him again until he slapped the bill on ghe counter next to me. I had been wanting to try this spot for about a decade now and boy was I disappointed! I LOVE diners! As a kid I was all about Carrow's and I drive all the way from Alamitos Beach to Bixby for Bake & Broil, the most superior diner in all of existence! But Polly's was not good at all. When you walk in, it's pretty cute inside. They have their own products for purchase like jams and breads. You're warmly greeted by friendly staff as well. The one positive note was the employees, mainly our server. She was amazing and friendly. However the Prime Rib Dip was not good at all. Very small portions and not tasty. When we left, we saw an Arby's and I told my partner that I wish we had gone there instead as their French Dip is far superior and that's saying something. read more

Who doesn't live a good pie!? Well I was craving their banana cream pie and all I wanted was a slice. Why did I get this craving the day after Thanksgiving!? They didn't have any. They were also very limited on slices available. But they did have a lively chocolate cream pie. So I buy the pie and share half with my neighbor haha. I'd always gotten pies from here, but I never ate at one before. We had some business in Bixby Knolls, so we decided to have breakfast here. I was very happy with how nice the place was. A lot of seating inside and out. Parking lot is small, but we found a spot. I kept them simple and had their scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The eggs were perfect and fluffy, the bacon was very crispy and delicious. The potatoes were OK, but I wish I had had the hashbrowns instead. My partner had the ABC omelette. She was very happy with how good it was and took the rest home. The sourdough bread they gave her looked impressively delicious. It reminded me of the spot in LA that makes bread that big. I always have pancakes and I can never tell whether they are made out of buttermilk or not but these ones were and they were pretty good. The service was also great, so overall I put this place as a go to to drop by for breakfast next time. They have amazing cookies and pies, of course. You can always count on that. All of the food we ordered here was amazing. The bread and pies are freshly baked and all of the ingredients used tasted fresh. That Pumpkin Dream Slice tasted beyond amazing. We absolutely loved and enjoyed the food. However, our waiter was terrible. It seemed as though he was not good at multitasking, kept forgetting about us, and made us feel like a burden. We had to keep catching him for everything we needed, even to place our order and to pay! The ambiance of the spot however is welcoming and comfy. It's an old school diner serving up comfort food and baked goods. We will return , but hopefully we get a better waiter/waitress. read more

2nd Visit 10.31.2025 Decided to give this place another try. My wife and I decided to have dinner on Halloween since we were obligated to purchase some pies for the the holiday festivities to come that night. Entered the front door and was greeted and seated immediately. The front door hostess had good energy. She smiled and gave us menus and stated that your server will be right with you. I did not catch her name but she was young and energetic. 5 mins goes by and we were greeted by our server Nikko. She gave us waters and immediately took our orders. Ordered chicken pot pie, meatloaf dinner and fountain drinks. 10 minutes goes by and walla! Our food was delivered. All was fresh and delicious. I like the fact we had all the sauces we wanted on the table. (Hot Sauce, ketchup, mustard). It was convenient. Nikko kept checking up on us to make sure all was good on our side. She did that consistently as well as Ashley who was her backup server in training. Overall, I would come back again. It was Day and night compared to my last visit at this establishment. Food was fresh and delicous. Good portion size. Our servers were professional, they exhibited themselves to have great customer service. Place has alot of parking, clean restrooms and clean tables. Ordered a pie for fourth of July (basic strawberry). I would not go here again. The pie became soggy very rapidly and fell apart. It seemed like the crust was not robust (or maybe even a crust). We opened it up and it looked like a bunch of smooshed Ritz crackers and strawberry had vomited inside the box. Really disappointing for $30. We couldn't even cut it into regular pie pieces more like strawberry with juice chunk and destroyed crust. I was very careful with it and it should not have fallen into mush. read more

I came to Polly's Pies to celebrate my dad's birthday, and Joe was our server. At first he seemed a bit standoffish, but my dad is such a genuinely kind person that the interaction quickly warmed up. My dad asked Joe his name, how his day was going, and treated him with sincere friendliness. From that point on, Joe's whole demeanor changed and the service became much more pleasant. My dad and I both pay attention to customer service, and it was interesting to see how a small moment of kindness shifted the experience. My dad is also a generous tipper and left Joe a $20 tip. Joe actually tried to give half of it back, but my dad insisted he keep it. We ordered breakfast--eggs, sausage, and country-style potatoes, which were good and satisfying. The only downside was the restroom situation; unfortunately there was no toilet paper and it was a bit messy. Overall, it was a good experience and an interesting little "experiment" in how human interaction can change the tone of service. I might try another Polly's location next time, but this visit still made for a memorable birthday breakfast with my dad. read more

How can you give this place? Anything less than five stars? Everyone that worked here was super nice. They really had that Southern hospitality. The food was pretty good for what it was. One thing you can't complain about is the price. I thought there was some kind of error in the receipt but nope they just are really down-to-earth nice, honest people. Was crowded today. Food terrific! Orders were King Edward turkey sandwich on sourdough bread. The sandwich included turkey, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise spread. It came with coleslaw. Good size portions with lots of turkey. All natural bread. Possibly the whole meal was. The taste was very homemade. The other sandwich which i ordered was the roasted turkey garlic aoli sandwich on sourdough bread. Basically similar but no bacon. Came with coleslaw. We also shared some sweet potato fries that were not greasy. Too full for dessert. Also ordered 2 waters. Joe was our server and did a excellent job. Prices are reasonable considering the portions. We went to Polly's Pies for a quick bite and it absolutely served. To be honest, it's a lot nicer inside compared to the exterior. For a busy Sunday morning, we were promptly seated. There's a current Hawaiian special/theme going for on (maybe permanent idk), so love that for them. I order the 2-3-1 combo ($13.99). I opted for 2 over easy eggs, three Jones Dairy Farms smoked sausage links, a biscuit, and hashbrowns. This was good. The hashbrowns could have stayed on the griddle for a little longer and while I didn't love their sausages, but they were serviceable. I'll probably do the breakfast potatoes and bacon next time. All in all, a very solid breakfast. Honestly, if you're in the brunching mood on a Sunday, make Poly's Pie your girl. It's not only nice and easy - the food is pretty solid. Whoever is hiring managers at Polly's is failing it's customers. This review is for this location and Cerritos. I stopped coming to this location due to the service a long time ago but my reason for coming in was to see if I could purchase a bag of mango iced tea-it's always been my favorite. I go in and ask if I can purchase one and Jessica told me there is no way to charge me because she doesn't know how. These managers do not know how to sell nor have customer service skills, nor how to problem solve. I left the restaurant and decided to call Cerritos to see if I can get the brand name so I can purchase it elsewhere, the manager said he didn't know the brand that it comes from corporate. The restaurant industry is going to the pooper because of management. He was rude and I told him his customer service was horrible and he hung up on me. This is beyond ridiculous. It isn't difficult to look up the box, see how much it cost,divide it by how many bags to see how to charge me for one- it isn't rocket science. Terrible terrible terrible. Best olallieberry pie hands down. No idea how their berries are always the sweetest of any pie shop. The glaze isn't overpowering or the main sweet component. The crust is buttery and flavorful, not just a starchy vessel but a crunch component to complement the delectable berries. Run as olallieberry pie season is usually June. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Surprisingly some of the best burgers in Long Beach. Service is always kind and warm. read more

I should have tasted them right then and there. The employee who made the coffees said she never made them before. Please train new employees to ensure consistent quality of cold brew coffees. We were going to leave but were so hungry. Our food came out pretty fast but the taste and flavor was not there. I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup and it was very salty and cold. When the waitress dropped off our food, I asked for a refill on my drink but she never came back with a refill. Since our waitress never came back, I had to walk up to the cashier to pay for our dinner. When the cashier asked us how everything was, I mentioned my disappointment and he just chuckled. To top it off manager was right next to him and did not acknowledge us. Unfortunately, even though this location has been remodeled, I don't think we will be back again. Our food sat in the window for at least 10 min she never checked then never put our toast on i was watching toaster then she argued someone stole it and still didn't put any on. I ordered for delivery a club sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese with a slice of banana cream pie, and, a pot pie dinner with a slice of chocolate cream pie on the side. The sandwich look like somebody stepped on it. My pot pie looked like somebody stepped on it in both pieces of pie were not included, and the mac & cheese as a side didn't even show up. The only reason I wanted to get from there was because I wanted pie tonight. Katella deli does it it's better. Update, ordered another delivery for the two pies that were missing and got one that didn't even resemble a piece of pie.
