Delicious sandwiches. Like the kind that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I've tried their bbq and their Italian subs and you really can't go wrong with anything here. Staff works so efficiently and are so friendly. It was very easy to order online and pick everything up. There isn't any seat inside, so it's definitely more of a take away spot. I love when a sub has all the toppings but doesn't get soggy. That's a sign of great bed and sandwich craftsmanship! Highly recommend the torpedo!

BIRTHDAY MONTH=BIRTHDAY COUPONS=HAPPY RODNEY Free 8 inch cold sandwich for VIP members (6 Way Italian not included) Big Bucky (choice of 3 meats) 6 way Italian is my usual go-to, so it's unfortunate the sandwich is no longer included in the birthday month promo. But, I understand. That particular sandwich is loaded with 6 kinds of meat. The contingency sandwich became the Big Bucky, w/ the choice of 3 meats. Soppressata, mortadella, bacon, extra onions, pickles & tomatoes. A satisfying, filling sub sandwich that made for a pleasurable lunch. A nominal wait, the meat were freshly sliced, and assembling the sandwich with plump & crisp vegetables, it was worth every minute of delay. The cashier was friendly & a pleasure to deal with, too.

Pretty good casual sandwiches with a very long wait. Parking lot here is horrible - there's stores have earmarked parking spots and there aren't many places to park for the deli - so would recommend ordering in advance and to-go'ing your order if possible. Finally got parking about 20 min after arriving at the plaza and ordered a couple sandwiches - brisket and pastrami. Was going to be about a 30 min wait (also another reason to order in advance) - they did give us the heads up after ordering. Got the sandwiches - the brisket was pretty good for California - the person I was eating with was from Texas and felt it was "fine". The main issue we both had was the pastrami sandwich - we weren't expecting the pastrami to be sliced thin. You couldn't really get the nice texture of the pastrami sandwich with it sliced deli-style (in my opinion) - which was what we were hoping for. The sandwich flavor itself was fine - but overall didn't really stand out for us. With all that said - if I were to come back I'd probably go with the brisket - good brisket sandwiches are tough to come by in So Cal, so it works for me - and would definitely be ordering in advance and taking it to go. Would leave the pastrami to the Langer's and Katz's of the world.

Tried their bbq mixed meat platter along with a variety of sandwiches for carryout during a lot busier time: best-in-class sandwiches; decent barbeque; incredible value. Beach City Deli & BBQ is one of those places that I've marked to return as much as possible, so went out of our way to come here for a late lunch, returning from Orange County. I was hoping since it was well past lunchtime, it wouldn't be so busy (mainly because of parking). Nope, every spot was taken in the shared surface lot of the small strip mall. My wife drove to the lot next door, and stayed with the car while I ran it to order and pick up. It would have been a lot smarter to pre-order via their website...it's pretty good and if you give them your email, you will receive a 10% off email digital coupon an hour later. After placing the order, I was quoted a 25 minute wait time, which was accurate. I waited outside, sitting on a few shaded chairs (there is no dining space here) for that purpose. This time I wanted a lot of leftovers, so ordered way too much food for the three of us. Deluxe Pack ($75) which includes 2lbs of pork ribs, 1lb of pulled pork, 1lb of shredded chicken, 10 rolls (filler), and two large sides. It's the most amount of meat I've ever gotten from a BBQ platter...could have received half of that and still would have thought it was a good deal. All the meat was good quality (no gristle or fat) and were moist. The pork ribs were very meaty, well sauced. Our two large sides of baked beans and bacon mac'n'cheese were OK: baked beans were solid (why do any baked beans go so well with pork?), while the mac'n'cheese was tasty but very heavy. If this was just for the BBQ, the taste would probably be comparable to a chain bbq place (like Famous Dave's, better than Lucille's). But the amount of food given is amazing. The much better food to relish were the sandwiches. Three of them used the same soft hoagie roll (I much prefer a harder Italian roll for my cold subs, but this softer roll is amazing for a grilled, hot sandwich): Cuban ($16 for a 12 inch) - had gotten this before, and was very curious in how consistent they were, especially when very busy. Yes!...it was the same as before, the best Cubano I've eaten. And it's so big...half of it would be enough for a typical lunch. In many sandwich cases, the right choice of bread is a necessity. This is a must try if you like Cubanos. French Dip Beef ($18 for 12") - super simple, thinly sliced roasted top sirloin. It was mounded generously, and came with two small ramekin of au jus. This is probably one of the only sandwiches my wife will eat, and she really liked this version. Black Forest Ham ($11 for 8") - my mother-in-law likes her ham sandwiches simple: soft bread with a nice amount of ham, with mayo, lettuce, pickles. She really enjoyed half of it, saving the rest for later. Decent rye bread: Reuben ($12 for full sandwich) - choice of corned beef or pastrami. A great rendition, with the right balance of ingredients (including a decent rye bread) and sauerkraut, it being grilled expertly (not too buttery or hard). The picture on the menu is what it looks like in "real-life": it tasted great. Beach City Deli & BBQ is just a great place to grab a sandwich for so much value and consistency; definitely worth a visit every time to try other things on the menu. Forgot to mention that the order taker was super patient with me, even during such a rushed time. And it's clear that the kitchen staff are being told not to be skimpy with the meats...seems to be more rare during these inflationary times. Super happy that it's in Long Beach, and deserving of our support. These hot sandwiches deserve to be eaten immediately. Next time for me: their version of a Monte Cristo.

    Torpedro Sandwich and Macaroni Salad

This has been my spot for sub sandwiches for the past 2 years, and they never miss! My go-to is the Torpedro, which has various deli meats, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and sub dressing. The mac salad is a must-try as well and is very tasty!

    Bread and bbq chicken

My three stars are solely on the price! There wasn't any value for the price Two sandwiches = $27.40 Chicken and bread, nothing else (hot) (very basic) Italian deli, ham, salami, cap and cheeses (cold) Two sandwiches, both 8 inches, both a lot of bread. Food tastes great but not worth the price. Neither my wife or I were full or filled from our sandwiches

    Tri Tri-Tip Sandwich
    Daphne B.

I really wanted to love here. I got the Tri tip sandwich. Service was great, but the sandwich didn't live up to the hype. The bbq sauce was average and tasted a bit acidic- which kind of made the sandwich meh. Would I go back? Maybe, but I'd try something else. If I am craving a great Tri tip sandwich, I'll make the trek up to Outdoor Grill in Culver city. (They truly have the best bbq sauce. ) I was hoping for a local Bu-Cees level sandwich, so I'll keep looking...

I give it 1 star for the nice owners and family. I give it 1 star for sitting outside on a nice day and enjoying the outside vibe. I give it 1 star for average food. The menu however, has major issues. The bread they use for the garlic bread, the pesto bread, and the pastrami sandwich doesn't hold up. The white part of the bread gets mushy and has a bad texture. That's the case for all hot sandwiches and garlic breads. I recently ordered the chicken parm, and the chicken was cut into small pieces and was burnt. I like my meat cut up in rice dishes such as paella and jambalaya, but cut up chicken parm seems low class and it wasn't great. I also recently ordered the Italian sub. It's a shame you have to pay extra for cheese. IMO, an Italian sub should have both Provolone and Mozzarella cheese. Their sandwich comes with no cheese and is an extra charge. Bummer. Also, they have a variety of Italian-style sandwiches, but none of them have the classic salami, mortadella, and capicola combination which is the authentic combination from my experience. To top it off, the Italian Sub doesn't have red onion or black olives. Meh. There are more menu issues. In the end, there's nothing I find above average. I don't discourage you from going if you're in the mood for a nice Italian meal on the sidewalk outside in nice weather, but there is literally nothing I've found on their large menu that is above average. The menu is flawed in too many ways. At least the family owners seem to be very nice and that goes a long way in deciding who to give my hard earned money to.

Since then the grilled Reuben has been my measuring stick for every restaurant that serves it. It's a must! It shows the attention to detail. It's not a sandwich you can rush. It requires its own time to caramelize and set the flavors up properly. Just like a house made soup, a Grilled Reuben can tell you a lot. And, it just happens to be my favorite sandwich of all time! So. High marks on the store itself. It has a very open air feel, lots of natural lighting, high ceilings and then a hidden court yard behind the shop. It's very clean with lots of colors and art. The music is perfect for the space. The menu is varied and they have both alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks. It's a deli. And they absolutely fill the roll perfectly. And as anyone will tell you, who frequents any deli in the country. What matters is the food. Period. All the niceties mean nothing if the food distant stand up. So... how did they do? Meh. I've had worse. Much worse. I've also had much better. And understand his is my personal opinion. I'm well aware that my comments will not reflect the opinion of everyone. But, the corned beef. They do not cook it in house. It didn't appear to be a brisket although with it being shaved as thinly as it is I don't know if that would help. Brisket corned beer works best when it's nice thick beautiful cuts that break apart and melt in your mouth. But. As you can see in the picture, they don't grill the corned beef but they do pile it pretty darn high. Which is nice. The sauerkraut wasn't grilled. The rye wasn't roasted long enough so the Swiss didn't properly melt and set. Not enough Thousand Island dressing. The rye has the perfect texture and it helps to very nicely. An excellent Jewish rye! The pesto pasta salad was very nice. And it looked as if the other sides were made with an equal amount of attention and love. So high marks there. This is one of those tough reviews because the reality is the atmosphere, the staff and the location are all excellent. The sandwich needs some work. Remember that the Grilled Reuben is the ONLY TRUE American Sandwich. It was created from scratch for the 1942 World's Fair in New York City. It's an original! Treat it with the respect it deserves. And this three star sandwich... of all sandwiches is a hard pass. Sorry. But, if you would ever like to have me come into your restaurant and show you how to serve the best Reuben of your life... just invite me back. I'd love to show you how to make some simple tweaks and turn a meh into a don't miss!

We came in on a Saturday and was unable to find street parking so as others advised, I had my friend watch the car and drive around as I made my way to the shop. The shop was so cute, it's small but with everything you'd need for a cheese and meat party including breads, canned additions/fish, and wines! I grabbed a fresh loaf of baguette to add to the order. Both trays were ready and absolutely fresh. The honorable cheesemongers overlooking shop were very nice and helpful! One female worker was providing samples for a gentleman when he asked for recommendations and my cheesemonger asked what kind of cheese texture I generally liked and offered to give me a cheese from three different animals, which I thought was absolutely awesome! She even offered to help me carry my trays out. The veggie tray was awesome, a great size, half pickled half not pickled, the dips were both amazing! We got the green goddess and Calabrian chili aioli and both were such a hit at our get together. The peppers are slightly spicy and were so delicious. We loved the variety of cheese and did not have a single cheese we didn't like. The petite toasts with the meat and cheese board is a must! So good and crispy and a perfect size for a bite.
