Spiro's has a new management and new menu. We noted their signs and stopped by for breakfast. They are promoting themselves as American/Mexican and their newly printed menu also portrays themselves as Greek. Their entire wait staff is gone, and their newbies were not up to the task, not even getting our orders correctly noted. They also have a new cook and neither my wife nor I finished our meals. My wife ordered a western with American cheese, the waiter came back and asked if she had asked for cheddar. She said no, but was served a western with cheddar. Their previous cook made buckwheat pancakes , the pancakes I had showed no semblance of buckwheat that I could taste. We might try them one more time for lunch but our expectations have cratered. A former regular go to for us we are deeply saddened by the changes. Outside of the new menu, which they offered us along with their old breakfast specials menu, the only other change is their wearing uniform shirts. The old ambiance of a place where everyone knew your name is seemingly now gone . Everything changes but not all changes are for the better. We had been regulars for at least 20 years. read more

I've been to this establishment and it has always been clean and inviting. You feel welcome! Now for the food...it's your basic diner food and we came for breakfast. I am so very disappointed in Spiros! This was always my go to for breakfast especially. I went in on a Saturday morning to pick up an order I placed over the phone and I noticed that it was very empty only 2 customers. When I got home I notice my scrambled eggs were watery the TWO slices of bacon was RAW and the potatoes had no flavor looks like they cooked them with oil that's it! I paid $12 for this breakfast that included toast ONLY. The toast was the only thing cooked correctly! Now I see why it was empty. If you go a few blocks down to the donut shop they give you FOUR well cooked bacon slices with your platter AND you get a free small coffee or OJ for get this... TEN DOLLARS! A solid neighborhood diner. I moved in this area a year ago and it has been a struggle finding a decent breakfast place. Even the iHop is just ok. I can't really stomach their eggs, which are gross and hard. Spiro comes as a welcome change for me. First, the coffee is great. Gotta have great diner coffee!! Second, the diner itself is nice and has a clean yet cozy feel to it. Third, the service is excellent. In person I ordered some coffee on what appeared to be a very busy day and got it in the blink of an eye. When I order delivery, it is fast and the food is piping hot. LOVE that. Don't underestimate this place as it's really great! Waiters and owner are super friendly and attentive. We had avocado, Swiss and tomato omelettes which came with perfectly seasoned home fried potatoes and perfectly buttered toast. Also enjoyed a solid cup of coffee, which they never let go empty. I had to add ketchup and pepper for some flavor. The Canadian bacon was so greasy that a whole pool of oil was on the plate. That plate was pretty inedible. The toast was pretty good. I mean how can you go wrong with bread haha. As I was chatting away with my boyfriend, one of the staff yelled over to another staff, "get the check for the Chino/China." When I heard that I was a little drawn back just because we never called for the check because we wanted to chat and drink our orange juice before we left and is that really how you address someone? Wouldn't the ideal way be "get the check for table#"? While waiting for our receipt back from the waiter, the staff started to talk negatively about us. I have an old tradition of getting breakfast at a diner on the first Sunday of the month. Lately, I been going by myself since, most of my friends are trying to eat healthier. I decided to visit this diner since it's relatively close to where I live. Upon entry, I wasn't greeted or directed to anything. So, I waited for a few minutes and sat down at a booth. I waited for another 10 - 15 minutes until I had to flag someone to retrieve a menu. And then another, 10 minutes before I was able to flag someone down to order. I ordered the basic scrambled eggs with toast and fries for $6.50. The food is on the pricier end especially, with the smaller quantity. Other diners do offer early bird specials, such as a free beverage. The food was on par with other diners. Nothing out of the ordinary, except how quick I got the bill before I even finished eating. A small diner that has been here for ages. Once you step in, it feels like you stepped back in time. It's not a bad thing, just some good old nostalgia of an old school diner/luncheonette. Service was great and food was solid. My food took a little long to come out, but you can see there is only one cook working the grill. My He-Man breakfast had perfectly made eggs, crispy bacon that's not too fatty, a nice crisp sausage and my French toast perfectly done. The coffee was pretty solid for diner coffee. This old time styled diner is always welcoming - the servers would see us get seated and bring us waters and menus. They would come back regularly to check on us to see if there is anything we needed - more water, different drinks or simply if our meal was as good as we had hoped it would be. But what really gets to me is how the regulars just knows all the staff. It's such a friendly environment that despite not being a regular, I'd still feel welcomed. Their food is just fine but I think that's because I usually order their salad while my boyfriend orders the Greek chicken dish (can't spell it!). Maybe next time I'll try something else! read more
