Yep! Great sandwich place. Bomber is outstanding. Not perfect for the pinkie swagging martini drinking Mother-something looking for a healthy option for her Junior but for the blue collar man looking for a little more than a bologna sandwhich, this is what you want. The service is GREAT (though "Spiro" is a bit surly, in an awesome way), can't ask for a better lunch pale lunch visit.. Seems like a beef stand but the options are so much more. Spiro's is a friendly small store front deli which makes great sandwiches! They have a good selection of po'boys, pitas, subs and the usual goodies (burgers, dogs, etc). Their Bomber is one of my favorites - Italian beef, cheese, onions, pickles and special sauce. It can be a little messy, but it is worth it! They have excellent fresh cut fries (which I always get with a cup of cheese). read more

It's old school and it's great. I had 2 sandwiches. The first was a pita, the second was a regular roast beef sandwich. Both excellent. The chicken on the first was well cooked, the sauce on it really tasty and it really hit the spot. The roast beef sandwich came out a great fresh roll which was tasty and I generally found it to be what I was looking for. This is not a place of the last 20 years. A generic overpriced national chain with fancy sounding sandwiches that are overpriced and underwhelming. It's food and lunch like your grandparents would have had 30-50 years ago and I just really liked it. They take their meat really seriously and do an excellent job with it. The inside is not a fancy coffee shop setting with couches and fireplaces-I wouldn't really reccomend sitting down, it's extremely busy and in the winter there's nothing to keep the cold air out if someone opens the door. The guys did a nice job moving fast despite how busy it is. I would get a bigger tv screen and put a menu above the cash register because they don't have one and most people came in looking up trying to figure out what to order only to be told to look at a hand menu. To me it's a guys guy place but there were a lot of moms with young kids so perhaps not just that. read more

I went to Northbrook Days this past weekend and Spiro's had a booth. My friends and I had the sandwich called the Bomber and we couldn't believe how awesome it was - it's the best Italian Beef we've ever had...it was delicious. I don't understand the good reviews on this place. Everyone says their italian beef is the best. No it's not! It's dry and bland. Al's Beef makes this place's italian beef look like it's from a cafeteria. Horrible flavor and quality. I also tried the pastrami sandwich. The flavor was okay, but it was greasy and messy. Go to Max and Benny's for good pastrami. I asked for no mustard on my sandwich and it had mustard when I got it. I also tried the scrambled mess and it was a mess, literally. The eggs were overcooked and bland. There are better places to get this type of food like U Dawg U and Little Louie's. Don't try this place unless you want to be unsatisfied. read more

Good food. The bomber is the classic. Prices for a sandwich tend to be a little on the high side. Expect to pay over 10 bucks for a bomber. And that doesn't include chips or a drink. Not many places to sit. read more

Spiro's Deli is the real deal. First Time , I tried 3 different sandwiches, The Bomber Beef is awesome. Great bread, good meat and cheese, full of flavor. The Italian Poor Boy sub, had the perfect amount of meat cheese and oil, an awesome cold sandwich. Finally the Philly Steak Sandwich, real deal steak, and the onions and green peppers were cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back. read more

Just drove by the other day. Stopped in to get a bite to eat. Did not know anything about this place. Ordered a ho dog. While waiting for the hot dog, the owner offered a sample to me. It was their famous "Bomber" sandwich. This is the Italian beef with cucumber, onion, and their owner sauce in the friend bread. Great taste. Next time I will order it. I recommend it. read more

Their subs rock. Their sandwiches are a true Chicago sub. It is not a chain and they know to have a true Chicago sub it must be made with Gonella crusty bread. Their fries and onion rings are mediocre. What fast-food place using frozen fries and rings are not mediocre. If they have one weakness, I wish they would me more generous with their ingredients. However, they are generous enough. If you become a regular customer, they take care you. We have a Subway and a Jersey Mike's chain sandwich stores in the neighborhood. It is a smidgen better than Jersey Mikes, and of course Subway has the best $5 air sandwiches around. If you care about quality and want the Chicago deli experience, Go to Spiros. The burger is maybe the best in Chicagoland for the price. Quality beef, 1/4 or 1/2 pounder, everything on it, you can't go wrong. I personally love the fries because they are fresh cut with the skin still on, and they finish cooking them after you walk through the door. Cash only is a drag and they've been known to mess up an order or two, but every now and then the burger calls me and they never dissappoint. read more

Spiro's is a hidden little hole in the wall. My wife and I love the Bomber. Italian beef, onions, pickle, swiss, and mayo. So simple, but delicious. It's a fat sandwich too, so I don't feel like i'm getting totally ripped off. Their fries are really good too. Was on my lunch break at a new job nearby and came accross this place I had the italian sub which was very good. While I was waiting the owner asked if I ever had "The Bomber" of which I replied no. He made a sample that was probably a third of a sandwhich and I have been hooked ever since. The flavor of the juice and the pickle coupled with the sauce adds so much flavor on top of the tender beef. I have had about 4 of them since then averaging about once a month. It is a little bit pricier when you get fries and a drink meal deal. Excellent chicago-style fast food joint. Will continue to go there. read more

New to the area. I got carry out here since it's 2 blocks from my office. The Italian Beef & Sausage Combo was quite tasty. The fries are hand cut and fresh, which is actually not my favorite style, but they were good as well. Fast, efficient, and delicious. You can't beat that! I lived in Glenview for a long time and Spiro's was my favorite casual lunch and dinner spot. Now, even though I live in Chicago, I make regular weekend trips to Spiro's to enjoy their incredible food. Spiro's has the best Italian beef, which I often order plain or with giardineira. They also have a unique variation called the "Bomber" that features pickles, onions and mayonnaise. The Bomber is hands down my favorite type of Italian beef sandwich - I have never had anything like it anwhere else. They also serve a top notch Philly cheesesteak with a thinly sliced steak (rather than the gristle most places serve). Spiro's also serves an excellent cheese fry. For the lighter fare, there are also very good deli sandwiches called the "poor boy" which are offered in variations such as turkey, regular, italian meats, tuna and vegetarian. The owner is very friendly and the service is consistently great. This place has been a fixture in Glenview for years. If you haven't been there, it is definitely worth the trip. If you have been, you're likely well on your way to calling yourself a regular like I do. read more

I'm 50 and I've been coming here for 50 years. As a teenager I loved the Poorboy until l grew up and began eating the Bomber. Now my kids eat the Poorboys. The food of Spiros is that of simplistic elegance. Their atmosphere is modest and quaint allowing one to be comfortable eating their meal there. The walls are adorned with Chicago Memorabilia from days not so long forgotten. The food is remarkably succulent. I am a person of simple tastes and when I find something I like I see no reason to alter my path. Their marque sandwich, the bomber has caught my palate and they have become the best of friends. The bomber is beef, secret sauce, pickle, onion all stuffed into a French roll delicacy that is nothing short of delicious. You are not consuming a sandwich when you eat the bomber, you are consuming a meal. It leaves you feeling satisfied, comforted and content with a yearning in the back of the mind that were you still hungry, you would order another. I grew up in Glenview and have been eating at Spiro's for years. After moving to the city, I missed the quality of the italian beef, which I personally think is much better than the competition in the city. The bomber is my favorite sandwich and is a perfect combination of sweet, salty and tangy, from the mayonnaise, beef gravy and thinly sliced pickles. The philly cheesesteak is a close second and is a much tastier version than that served out east, as Spiro's philly features a thicker slice of steak. The new addition of freshly cuts fries is also a huge plus which, with a side of cheese, rounds out any meal. I have and will recommend this place to friends. read more

This is one of the best kept secrets in Glenview. Their food is home made and the Italian sausage is to die for. We have used Spiro's for all of our Graduation/Birthday parties over the years. We usually get the roast beef, mostacholi and a Greed salad. It has always been a favorite with our guests. We are going to use him again for another graduation this year and I discovered that they will come to my house and barbeque for my family. We are looking forward to trying more food from Pete.
