    Lamb-Beef Gyro Platter
    Sue M.

This place is not too shabby. It's right by the Coronado ferry landing. Small interior space but nice patio where you can enjoy the view and people watch. We got the lamb / beef platter and the chicken platter. They come with a side salad, pitas, and your choice of fries or rice. Both platters were good. It's a nice amount of food. Servers were nice. A bit slow but they were busy on a Sunday evening. A little pricy but it is Coronado.

I really didn't want to leave a bad review, but here it is. My partner has been going to Spiro's for years since she's a Coronado native and been raving about this place. Since we were around the area, right by the ferry we decided to check it out. First, the service. The service sucked. The guy who took our order (older man) had a terrible attitude. It almost felt like he was doing us a favor by serving us. Second, the food. We ordered the Greek salad and the gyro lamb sandwich. The food was good... until it wasn't. As my partner was eating, she glanced at her plate and there it was a HUGE FLY grilled into the lamb. (Pic below) Third, the ambience was just okay. Thankfully the manager did refund us for the gyro lamb sandwich. But the combo of bad service and a terrible food experience left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Another great visit! Their patio is one of the best! This visit I had the gyros plate with fries. I feel like their gyros is made so much better than other places of eaten at. The texture was much more dense. I appreciate the generous portion of pita bread, although a slightly larger portion of tzatziki would've been great! Again, fresh brewed iced tea, and if you need lemons, just ask! The two women working the front and who delivered the food were very friendly! Cako still Approves!

I went at lunchtime and there was no wait. The inside is clean and inviting there is plenty of seating inside and out. I got the gyro sandwich combo, which is the sandwich 5/5 and fries 1/5 or rice and a drink. The sandwich is plenty and was very tasty, the fries were not crispy. I will definitely go back for a gyro, but I can't recommend the fries.

Food: Lamb and Beef Gyro Platter (8/10) - A good shareable portion. The salad was tasty and the pitas were soft. The meats were good with the tzatziki sauce. Chicken Gyro Platter (6/10) - A little biased because I ended up not liking how the chicken tasted? But it's probably more of a me thing and my preference. It wasn't cooked wrong or anything. Everything else paired with it on the plate was good and it's such a good portioned plate. Fish and Chips (7.5/10) - Very classic and basic plate but still good. The fish came out crispy and warm and tasted good with lemon on top. The fries had a lot of potato and were also good. Service: We ordered at the register, paid and sat down with a number. The service is nice, they're generally straightforward and nice people. Ambiance: It's pretty lively on weekends and nearing sunset as well because the water view is nice. I prefer outdoor seating for the views and vibes. It just feels nice outside.

Beautiful location right by the water, which is definitely the highlight of this place. The outdoor patio is very inviting, with comfy couches and small fire pits that make it a great spot to relax and enjoy the view. The food was good overall, though nothing particularly memorable. Service is fairly casual--you order at the till and then wait for your food to be brought to the table. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is a nearby lot, but it's paid and not cheap. Otherwise, you may get lucky with street parking if you don't mind walking a bit. Nice place for the setting and atmosphere, especially on a sunny day.

This place is somewhat on the smaller side but it seems like the food is made to order. The food was lacking seasoning in my opinion. My chicken pita was missing something to take it to the next level. The chicken didn't have too much flavor. If you are exploring the area you can check this place out if you want Mediterranean but other options in the surrounding areas could be better.

I visited this restaurant after spending the day at the San Diego Zoo and was lucky enough to get great oceanside patio seats in the evening. The food was excellent--especially the Moussaka with fries. My family shared a variety of dishes, and I was very satisfied with my meal overall. One thing to note: for some reason, the Yelp directions on the mobile app placed the restaurant's GPS location behind Cocina 35 Brunch, so navigating there was a bit confusing.

Fast service with a gorgeous view! I have been coming here for over ten years. I almost always get the Lamb-Beef Gyro Sandwich, a classic. If you really like tzatziki sauce I suggest asking for extra. You can see from my photo that most of it comes on the bottom of the gyro and I prefer to drizzle a bit more on the meat. There is plenty of meat and I never leave hungry. We usually sit on the outdoor patio or take the food to go and have a picnic on the grass at the ferry landing. The prices are reasonable considering the location and I just love the view of the skyline and the harbor!

This place has taken a turn for the worse. Used to be one of my favorite Greek places. The past 3 times I've been here (in the past 4 months of Feb 2026) the quality has gone down, prices have gone up and the value isn't the same. New cooks? I don't know. First if I order a chicken kabob sandwich, I expect kabobs (with grilled veges) not a grilled chicken breast cut up. One that was dried out too. I ordered the Greek chicken/lemon soup (avgolemeno) which is good but way overpriced. $10 for a small bowl? Look I understand it costs a lot to run a restaurant but it certainly doesn't cost that much much to make a bowl of soup. That's just price gouging. Don't you dare order it to go as you will get even less- barely got a small serving. You are lucky if you get two Greek olives on your salad now, before they were more generous. And you get no feta now- just tiny crumbles. Disappointed- quality and value aren't the same. Too bad.

Stopped by for a warm meal after taking our bikes on the ferry on a windy day. Boy were we happy to see the inviting patio with a view and HEATERS! So spacious and plenty of space for two bikes. I was given an estimated wait of 10-15 minutes for my food but it came within probably 5 minutes. So quick! The french fries were nice and crisp. Salad was a little too dressed for my taste so I should've ordered dressing on the side. Portion sizes were fair. Beer options were just what we needed for a quick bite. Pricing a little steep for what we got, but with the space, nice service, and being Coronado - about what you'd expect.

Ordered a chicken kabob platter to go for two people. The service is amazing, fast, and the staff are so sweet! They really know what's popular or what to try and the food is always delicious. We really like the fries over the rice, and the side salad is a delicious classic Greek salad. The platters are large portions and it a great meal to split. The ambiance in the restaurant is laid back and they have a nice outdoor section that overlooks the bay. We'll definitely be back soon!

Upon arrival, saw a few indoor seatings available, but there were plenty at the outdoor patio area. Decided to sit inside. Our order was placed at the register. Our dish arrived 10-15 minutes later. There was self serve drinking station. Don't expect fast food service at this place. All staff were attentive in picking up dirty dishes and utensils. The shrimp kabob lacked taste, texture and presentation. Maybe it needed to be grilled a little more longer. Seasoning would have been nice. There was Siracha hot sauce available but didn't feel that adding Siracha sauce would boost the shrimp kabob. Salad and fries were fine. This dish was not worth $22 As for the beef dish, it was odd to see it being served in bowl, separated from the rest of dish. This dish was ok. Nice ambience wether sitting indoor our out.

    Tacos great! Salsa spicy!

We needed a place to have a quick snack and this place called us over with its big outdoor patio and open air seating. We walked in and could not believe the revolving tap list. They definitely have a beer for everyone's choice. The pretzel menu was also a pleasure to peruse and we knew we had to try one. This is their specialty as these pretzels are hand rolled with influences from Germany, Philadelphia and NY. They serve them with your choice of beer dipping sauce and cheese. We decided on the Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel. It was huge and by far the best tasting pretzel I think I have ever tasted. Soft and great texture. You could tell great care was taken in the creation of this pretzel and so yummy with the cheese. They also offer signature pretzel pizzas, pretzel sandwiches and other pub grub. Service was helpful and the restaurant is very clean. Happy Hour is offered daily M-F 3:00 - 6:00pm. Great place to watch a game too as lots of big screens. Always remember "Life is a pretzel so enjoy the twists and turns."

They always have an extensive tap list of local beers, as well as seltzers and NA options as well. The pretzels, sandwiches, pizzas are all delicious. On top of that, the staff is top notch and some of the friendliest folks around. Having the outdoor space is great, but when it's really warm out, their AC is fantastic. This is a must stop for any North Park pub crawl or day out on the town.

It can get busy so if you have a large party, I'd recommend making a reservation! - PARKING - This lot can get pretty full depending on the time of day, but at least there are adjacent streets where you can also find additional parking. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - You seat yourself and they'll bring out a few physical menus, although they also have QR codes for the taplist if you don't want to go up to the bar. My husband and I really loved the atmosphere, validating parking was easy, the menu and happy hour options looked great! Great seltzer and cider options as well. Honestly seemed like a it would be a hit. Unfortunately, the excitement was quickly gone. Maybe the staff was overwhelmed by the one large party there, but we were barely acknowledged and didn't receive a welcome or smile from any employee. The service was really underwhelming... We ordered the Thai Brussels to start and were very surprised when they were delivered and were very, very cold. We asked the bartender if they were supposed to be cold and he said "yep" and walked away. This was surprising given that the menu described them as "oven roasted" and it was never mentioned that they are a chilled item. I feel like it's only fair to your customers to let them know if a dish is served cold or warm. I don't recall ever ordering "oven roasted" Brussels sprouts that come almost frozen. The bartender didn't seem concerned that we didn't eat any of them and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. We paid full price and left. I should have said something, but honestly didn't get the vibe that he cared at all about our experience or whether we returned. Sadly we have many other places to go where we know we can receive great service and probably won't return to Common Theory. I hope others have a better experience than we did!
