A pretty solid spot in my opinion. Spiro's has been in Coronado for years and I've think they've been pretty steady for as long as I could remember. Located at the fairy landing, Spiro's is in a busy-ish part of Coronado. Parking is plentiful, but I can't remember off the top of my head if you have to pay for parking or not. But if you do it's not that bad. The restaurant itself is clean and offers outdoor and indoor seating with amazing views of Downtown on the other side of the Bay. Their patio is dog friendly! Plenty of seating and pretty clean. I have no issues with service. You order at the counter before you sit but last time we were there, the cashier is nice and friendly. I'm not sure if he was the owner or not but he was doing great making convo with us. Bonus they take military discount. Also, I see them constantly bussing tables and making sure everything is clean. Long story short, staff is doing their job the right way. Food is yummy and portions are good! I think they're pretty generous on their amount of meat that they give. The gyro fries are great to share! (I mean you can eat them on your own lol). The portion is pretty big! I like that their lamb isn't gamey. Their pita is always fresh. I don't feel guilty eating their food after! I've been here numerous times and I know I'm bound to go back again. It's one of the spots that has stuck at the fairy landing for years! One of the food stands along the main concourse of Petco Park during baseball games. They have traditional gyros and a rice bowl with your choice of chicken kabob or lamb / gyro meat. This place is not too shabby. It's right by the Coronado ferry landing. Small interior space but nice patio where you can enjoy the view and people watch. I really didn't want to leave a bad review, but here it is. My partner has been going to Spiro's for years since she's a Coronado native and been raving about this place. Since we were around the area, right by the ferry we decided to check it out. First, the service. The service sucked. The guy who took our order (older man) had a terrible attitude. It almost felt like he was doing us a favor by serving us. Second, the food. We ordered the Greek salad and the gyro lamb sandwich. The food was good... until it wasn't. As my partner was eating, she glanced at her plate and there it was a HUGE FLY grilled into the lamb. (Pic below) Third, the ambience was just okay. I went at lunchtime and there was no wait. The inside is clean and inviting there is plenty of seating inside and out. Beautiful location right by the water, which is definitely the highlight of this place. The outdoor patio is very inviting, with comfy couches and small fire pits that make it a great spot to relax and enjoy the view. The food was good overall, though nothing particularly memorable. Service is fairly casual--you order at the till and then wait for your food to be brought to the table. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is a nearby lot, but it's paid and not cheap. Otherwise, you may get lucky with street parking if you don't mind walking a bit. Nice place for the setting and atmosphere, especially on a sunny day. read more

I visited this restaurant after spending the day at the San Diego Zoo and was lucky enough to get great oceanside patio seats in the evening. The food was excellent--especially the Moussaka with fries. My family shared a variety of dishes, and I was very satisfied with my meal overall. Fast service with a gorgeous view! I have been coming here for over ten years. I almost always get the Lamb-Beef Gyro Sandwich, a classic. If you really like tzatziki sauce I suggest asking for extra. You can see from my photo that most of it comes on the bottom of the gyro and I prefer to drizzle a bit more on the meat. There is plenty of meat and I never leave hungry. We usually sit on the outdoor patio or take the food to go and have a picnic on the grass at the ferry landing. The past 3 times I've been here (in the past 4 months of Feb 2026) the quality has gone down, prices have gone up and the value isn't the same. New cooks? I don't know. First if I order a chicken kabob sandwich, I expect kabobs (with grilled veges) not a grilled chicken breast cut up. One that was dried out too. I ordered the Greek chicken/lemon soup (avgolemeno) which is good but way overpriced. $10 for a small bowl? Look I understand it costs a lot to run a restaurant but it certainly doesn't cost that much much to make a bowl of soup. That's just price gouging. Don't you dare order it to go as you will get even less- barely got a small serving. You are lucky if you get two Greek olives on your salad now, before they were more generous. Stopped by for a warm meal after taking our bikes on the ferry on a windy day. Boy were we happy to see the inviting patio with a view and HEATERS! So spacious and plenty of space for two bikes. I was given an estimated wait of 10-15 minutes for my food but it came within probably 5 minutes. So quick! The french fries were nice and crisp. Salad was a little too dressed for my taste so I should've ordered dressing on the side. Portion sizes were fair. Beer options were just what we needed for a quick bite. This is the most over priced, understaffed and mediocre not only Greek food but for that matter, any food in Coronado. The atmosphere is very subpar with flimsy metal tables and chairs on the patio and old beat up furniture inside the restaurant. My wife and daughter and I went there for lunch and it was almost $80 for a two Gyro platters and one shrimp platter and nothing to drink except water. The Gyro meat was cold and way overdone they dice the pita bread up in the small triangles, which doesn't allow you to make any sort of Gyro, the salad was guilty and way too much stressing on it and they give you a very small little plastic thing of tzatziki sauce. Now that there are so many cool hip restaurants in Corinado and coming into Coronado, this place should go out of business and somebody should open up a Greek restaurant that has a nice atmosphere, is a really enjoyable, dying experience, great food and prices commenced with the atmosphere and the service instead of cafeteria food at French cuisine prices. read more

Ordered a chicken kabob platter to go for two people. The service is amazing, fast, and the staff are so sweet! They really know what's popular or what to try and the food is always delicious. We really like the fries over the rice, and the side salad is a delicious classic Greek salad. The platters are large portions and it a great meal to split. Great little spot for Greek a bite. You order from a monitor, pay, given a number and the food arrives in less than 10 minutes. We got the Lamb Gyro and with a side of more meat on the side. They were super generous with the meat I didn't need more on the side but I do love the season meats. There plenty of tables to choose from. We sat outside under a perfect shady spot. I wouldn't recommend the meat kebob. Maybe the other kebobs but not the meat kebob. I HATE when an establishment says, " Oh the hours are wrong online." That's piss poor management of the marketing for your business, especially the restaurant business, which is so competitive. A good restaurant would say, "You know the hours are wrong but you're here, you made a special trip to see us. Let's take care of you." I won't buy another gyro at Petco, and I'll be calling into the radio station (97.3 The Fan) to tell them about the horrible customer service. Our take-out order was thirty minutes late in being ready. But instead of offering us a seat and a beverage, they just let us stand there and age. We watched as orders flooded in at the counter and very little food emerged from the kitchen. When the order was ready, they checked it thoroughly (appreciated!) but opened the containers so many times that all of the heat escaped. Once home, we found the food was barely even warm, the chicken gyro was bland and chicken kabob was over spiced and everything tasted like it was cooked yesterday. We frequent Spiros from time to time on weekends. For several weeks the Diet Coke was out. Week after week. Then no sweeteners for the iced tea. I asked someone who I recognized that worked there. He was apologetic for the machine being out again. I went back in after a few hours and asked to speak to the manager. She was dismissive and said she just had got there and the machine had run out yesterday. I did not believe her. Then she got short with me and said "what can I do for you?" I held my ground and explained it had been week after week. She was of no help, defensive and seemed to not care. I realized she would not be helpful or receptive and I thanked her and walked away. Lovely Greek Cafe in Coronado! My daughter & I had the salmon plate with an added filet mignon kabob. We also had the avgolemono soup. Which leads me to the reason of 4 stars given vs 5 stars. The soup was very watery. I was so excited about seeing avgolemono on the menu but felt disappointed that it was watery. Also I was hoping for hummus to come with the salmon plate but it didn't.
