There are a few things I can't say about this place, but the things I will say are worth speaking about. After walking all day and up and down Coronado, my son and I wanted to sit down and eat one last meal before traveling home. We walked up and down trying to see which what was appealing and chose this place. I wasn't thinking anything of it, unfortunately this place is all I think about now. My son and I even though we had no reservations were put outside and squeezed in which I was very greatful for and so was our belly's after. We never went in the restaurant so unfortunately I can't say how it goes in there but it looked busy yet well organized. The waiter might have felt rushed but they sure didn't show it, sitting outside looking in we saw a beautiful bar. It's was a gorgeous day as we sat outside and people watched but that's enough of the atmosphere now it's food time. We got a chocolate milk and Diet Coke with a chicken parm which we split, I have been all over the place and this place has their chicken parm down. The chicken was extremely crispy and the breading didn't fall of the chicken when I cut it up for my son chicken was juice and the spaghetti we got with is wasn't a watery mess like plenty of places I have been to. As soon as we had one, we saw how creamy, strong and delicious it was, we ended up ordering another 2, and the rest of our table ordered some as well. The food was great. I rarely do Italian out and about, but I'm staying on Coronado for my tenth anniversary and my gluten free wife is jonesing for pasta. I yelped and found other places, but my wife was eyeing this spot, and for me to trust her in picking a restaurant, I know it meant a lot to her. She picked a banger. We had a pepperoni pizza, added sausage and olives, linguine creme scampi, and mezzi rigatoni alla vodka. The best part about this place is the fact that they let you choose the sauce/protein and pair it with the pasta of your choice. For that very reason, this might be my new favorite Italian spot... shame I live in Los Angeles. Vodka sauce was one of, if not the best I've ever had... and it wasn't just barely coating the pasta. There was a little extra in the plate to dip the crust of the pizza in. Pasta was al dente. Zero complaints about this dish. It's a ten.... buuuut if I wanted to make it an 11, I'd do some crumbled sausage in the dish over the bacon. That's just me. Crème scampi linguine was excellent. Usually, I'm not picking a scampi because it's just boring, the shrimp is skimpy, and the angel hair is insubstantial, but I know my wife loves scampi, and they had this creme version I had never seen... plus I get to pick linguine instead. Excellent choice. The linguine gave it more substance/body, the shrimp was actually quite generous, and the creme in the sauce also added more umph. The only thing is after some time, toward the end of the dish, the sauce had seemed to have broken and I got that oily scampi type feeling. Pizza was not the best Neapolitan style pie I've ever had, but it was plenty solid. I'd order pizza here again. Love the giant chunks of fresh Parmesan they microplane over your dish for you as well. Staff and service were excellent, friendly and prompt. Next time I'm in Coronado, for Italian, I'm coming back to try the meatballs and some appetizers. Stumbled on this place on accident and the ambience was so warm and inviting that we had to stop in. I made the major mistake of ordering the pizza. Do not order the pizza here. It was so so underbaked (see picture). You could see in the crust that it was underbaked in the middle. The rest of the group ordered pasta which seemed like a better pick. Had our Valentine's day dinner here. My boyfriend had called over a week in advance and made a reservation. When we got there, we learned it was a $60 fixed menu with about 5 appetizer options, 5 entree options, and 2 dessert options. No where on the website or when my boyfriend called was that mentioned. The food was all delicious, but at 7:30pm they were already out of gnocchi when that was two of the 5 entree options, so we had to get pasta instead. The service was okay. It was very cute inside though. The bill came and they had automatically added a 20% gratuity, which again wasn't mentioned to us by anyone. It ended up being a $250 dinner including drinks, which it was not worth. We chose this place because it looked to be a little more casual, but when they raise prices that much and guarantee each couple spends $150 before drinks(and didn't advertise it at all), it made it not as great of an experience. We came here on a Wednesday night at 6pm in January and were seating quickly. There's a choice of indoor outdoor seating. The decor is fun and the service is excellent! We started with the minestrone soup, and we both thought it was quite good! Don ordered the carbonara; he thought it was good but not his favorite carbonara. He would try something different next time. I ordered the salmon Estivo. It was so delicious and perfectly prepared. I shared some with Don and he agreed it was excellent. We finished with cannoli's. They were ok but we were surprised that the pastry was tough as we had a little trouble cutting through it. This restaurant is located in a really nice area of Coronado. It's on the main street near other nice restaurants and businesses. The streets are lined with tall palm trees and has a breathtaking view of downtown San Diego. I don't think you can find a better location to eat at. The service here was phenomenal. We came in a group of 14 and we had no problem receiving fast and attentive service. Catherine was a great server who gave us recommendations on what to eat. The bathrooms were VERY clean. So clean that I would honestly eat in there. The bathroom smelled great and had nice paintings. You can always tell the quality of a restaurant by the type of hand soap they use and I can confirm, I would wash my hands here. We had the Penne Pasta a la Vodka with chicken and it was indescribable. I was licking the plate clean to just get a smidge more of the flavor. It was creamy but powerful at the same time. The complimentary bread they give you complimented the sauce well. The bread was like a focaccia, very similar to corn bread. The salad you get for the antipasti had a nice tangy vinaigrette. I also tried the sausage pizza which was surprisingly good. I'm not a big "artisan" pizza fan myself but the dough was perfectly cooked. It had just the right amount of crust burn to make it enjoyable. Hats off to the chefs here. The prices are pretty steep. You will be breaking the piggy bank to eat here. Don't expect to walk out of here for under $65 for a meal for two making this a ($$$$) for me. The flavor more than makes up for the prices so it is worth the trade off. Bottom Line/TLDR: great pasta and even better location. read more

This used to be my favorite Italian restaurant on Coronado. But things have slowly been changing. Happy hour used to be till 6. Now it's 5pm. The appetizers that used to be on happy hour 1/2 off have been cut tremendously. And my favorite polenta... gone! The salmon I used to crave. Now it's boring. Used to be a Mediterranean style. So creamy and fantastic. Now tonight tried the new one... covered in capers and a butter sauce. Tasteless. And served with butternut squash/ tomato/ mushrooms. Used to be tri colored potatoes. No more chicken cacciatore, no Osso bucco. No more Mon/Tues steak specials. And so many other items deleted. The staff and service are still wonderful. Bets tiramisu anywhere. Cute little Italian spot in Coronado! I was out with a group and didn't get to take any pictures, but I really enjoyed the food and experience here. Meatball and bruschetta appetizers were fantastic! Both came with three of each. The complimentary basket of fresh focaccia bread with oil and vinegar was well liked. I ordered the chicken piccata entree and the chicken was very tender and the lemon butter sauce was delicious. It came with a small side of pasta. Portion sizes were reasonable for the price. This place was very good! I ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo with a side of chicken, since they consider it an add on only. The texture was just right, however. Nothing tasted rough at all except the bread, it was super crunchy. But as far as the pastas, they were very chewable and cooked just right. I've had lots of incredible visits at Rosemary Trattoria and I love how consistent it is! I think Rosemary is a highly underrated and under-talked about restaurant. The past couple times we've been, my girlfriend and I have had the caprese, bruschetta, pastas (alla vodka, funghi, crema de scampi, peposo pappardelle), tiramisu, and a variety of drinks. I was very impressed with the pasta and the vastness of options and combinations you can create. With each order, you have the opportunity to choose from a selection of 8 different pastas to customize your dish to your liking. I wasn't ever a huge fan of tiramisu until I had it here. In fact, we have driven all the way to Coronado at 8:30 P.M. just for it. Definitely worth a try! Overall, I have always been super with their service. They have always gotten food out super quick, the waitresses have always been super kind and have great recommendations, and the atmosphere is very enjoyable.
