This place is café like, clean and looks really good. Their food is good, we had the plate which from past experience can easily shared by 2. We ordered the felafel side which was done really well. They provide ample sauces too along with a good amount of fries on their platters. The baklava was really good and made with honey so had a great taste! The service was good with attentive staff. Worth a visit!

Absolutely loved Spiro's Mediterranean Cuisine in La Jolla. We went all in and ordered everything vegetarian on the menu, and every single dish was delicious, filling, and full of flavor. The café itself is super cute and cozy, and the service really stood out. Such kind, welcoming people who clearly care about their food and guests. Everything tasted fresh and comforting, the kind of meal that leaves you happy and satisfied. Amazing food, great vibes, and wonderful service. Would 100% come back!

I thought this place was a job well done for Mediterranean in La Jolla Village. It was definitely on the pricier but that's also something you have to keep in mind when you're in La Jolla Village. Everything else is so expensive around this area just because of the demographic so I wasn't necessarily upset about that. I do think it is weird to have tipping options when you have to get up and fill your own drinks and do everything yourself, I don't know. Maybe that's just a me thing. The gyro was good, it was lacking a little on the tzatziki sauce, but the meat in it was absolutely delicious so it made up for the lack of tzatziki. I did ask for extra side of tzatziki, especially for my french fries, because the gyro was a little bit dry without more tzatziki to be honest. I do think that the meal was very filling they give you a hefty side of french fries alongside the gyro, an overall I was happy with my purchase for the price I paid. I do feel like it was a substantial amount of food and I didn't leave hungry. Overall, a nice experience. The inside was very clean and cute, but it was expensive, but I'm also not a super wealthy person living in La Jolla like 95% of people that live here lol.

Nice cozy atmosphere, friendly service, good portions, reasonable price, and taste good. The only minor thing is that gyro is a bit salty.

For a more casual place I was really impressed by the food. They provided to meat stick when most places only provide one. They are really great with gluten restriction and the staff were overwhelmingly friendly.

We have been to the Coronado location a bunch of times but stopped in this location yesterday and it was wonderful! Honestly, we both agreed that we liked this one possibly even better than the original! First of all, the decor is really nice. It definitely fits the La Jolla location and is good for dining a quick bite inside or lunch with friends on the patio. I believe the woman who helped us as a manager. She was so friendly and also had a good sense of humor. As far as the food, we got a regular Gyro and a chicken Gyro we were kind of in there for a quick lunch after being at the beach. The portion was really great and the food was nice and hot and full of flavor! Quality wise definitely better than what we expected. We just felt the amount of love and care put into this food, even though it was a simple sandwich definitely made it worth it. I suggest you try this location. We will certainly be back.

Too salty and undercooked and could not finish plate. Bring bottles of xtra water for later

SUCH A WEIRD PLACE (2 stars) It was the least busiest restaurant in the area and now I know why! - FOOD: meh - PRICE: meh - SERVICE: weird and terrible at the same time - AMBIANCE: meh They had a "Happy Hour menu" perfect for light bites that drew the attention to come in. Reminds me of a vendor that would be at a mall's food court and not a restaurant in the heart of La Jolla. Order and pay at the counter and have a seat. So we are defaulted to a screen to tip 18-25% on a service we have yet to receive or get our food. Service isn't good so think twice about that screen. :: SERVICE :: Unorganized and W-E-I-R-D. First that I noticed, the waitress bringing back plates and letting the other staff know something wasn't liked by the customer. Waitress who handled the register/money/cleaning/serving didn't take my order and some other lady who appears to be like a manager took my order. The table was half cleaned and it was brought to attention only for that lady to say "she's (waitress) going to clean it now". But it was obvious the waitress didn't have intentions to clean the table unless told to because it was brought to attention. Also observed other customers sending back their orders because something was off with their food. A customer (they just served) goes to the counter asking for the code to use the restroom only to be told by the manager lady "restrooms are for paying customers only" and he replied "but I am a paying customer" for waitress to not say anything while this exchange was happening. That was so rude of them to say, passing judgement (in whatever way) without realizing they just served him. FYI, He contributes to your paycheck. I asked for a box for my left overs to be told by the waitress "yes" (as if she's going to get it right away which is steps away from the table) but she never comes back. Lol. Uhm ok. Had to get up and hover to get a a to-go box. :: ORDER :: "Happy Hour Menu" FILET MIGNON KABOB ($7) - one kabob with 3 pieces of filet mignon on it. When it arrived I thought it was a joke, something THAT small for seven dollars on a "happy hour menu" and it doesn't look that appetizing... (sorry for the disturbing comparison). But I will say it was surprisingly very tender, juicy, and flavorful. That still doesn't justify the price for it. RECOMMEND GARLIC PARMESAN FRIES ($7) - soggy fries with shaved pieces of Parmesan on top. The fries tasted as if they were cooked earlier that day and out to the side - they were lukewarm when I received them. Also, seven dollars for happy hour prices for weak fries. DO NOT RECOMMEND LA CROIX ($3.95) - in a can. Nothing special we all know what La Croix taste like and shouldn't be that much for a canned drink. Until the next review..

Not quality Greek/Mediterranean food, tried a variety of meats and they all came out pretty dry. Flies are everywhere and staff doesn't seem to get along so plates were sitting out of the kitchen waiting to be served for a while. No one in the kitchen is wearing gloves or hair nets and one older woman had long blonde hair. This same woman was eating the food while preparing in the kitchen. Very off putting. I didn't check the reviews beforehand, but now see nearly everyone has commented on this same woman. The establishment is really pretty and located walking distance to the beach. The lady who took our order was very sweet, I just think sanitary efforts could be greatly improved on.

    Nice ladies room as well

We had a delightful lunch on a weekday recently. We tried both types of gyros, chicken and beef/lamb combo. They arrived hot, fresh and generously filled with the shaved rotisserie meats. Neither of us was able to eat more than about 1/2 of our sandwiches. It made for a very tasty and reasonabley priced meal in downtown La Jolla.

    Lamb-Beef Gyro Platter

I got the lamb/beef gyro platter. It was pretty good but my rice was kind of hard. The salad was good but there wasn't a lot of dressing on it. The service was amazing! The inside was clean.

    Intricate design!

It felt very fancy and was one of the most exotic things I have eaten in a long time. We also got the dolmas (grapes leaves) and the Bolani (turnover stuffed with leek and potatoes) as an appetizer. The dolmas were ok, but the bolani was exceptional, like a leek and potato quesadilla but lighter. It was hard to put into words. Just order it and enjoy! Lastly, for drinks we got a Cherry Blossom Tea (Sheer Chai). Again, it tasted like nothing I have ever ordered before, which is hard to do because we are adventurous eaters. It tasted like cream straight from the cow mixed with a cherry blossom-y and strawberry-ish Chai flavor+ black tea flavor. One of the best drinks that I have experienced in 2025 by far. For the La Jolla neighborhood and how fancy the inside feels, the prices were similar to any regular sit down restaurant. Quite the bargain for the bouquet of flavors and beautifully executed dishes that we had. I would definitely recommend them.

The staff is friendly and greeted me right away. They were very attentive and kept my drink topped off without me even having to ask. Now for the food... The food was delicious! I ordered the falafels, spinach fatayer, and a chicken shawarma pizza. The falafels were crispy and fresh, exactly what you want in a falafel. The spinach fatayer was hot, perfectly baked, and huge. The chicken shawarma pizza stole the show out of the appetizers. It had so much flavor, and the cheese was amazing. That cheese stretched like it was in a commercial. I wish I had ordered two! For my entrées, I ordered the lamb and chicken kabobs with a side of fries. This plate was unbelievably tender. The center of the lamb was perfectly cooked with a beautiful pink center, and I love a hot pink center. Makes my mouth water. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the rice. The fries were great, too. I also ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the chicken kabob wrap. The shawarma plate was packed with flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. The rice was cooked to perfection. The wrap was so thick, I wanted to slap it like a big ol' booty. Lastly, the garlic sauce was the real MVP. I wish they bottled it up and sold it because I'd definitely be taking some home. The pita bread was thin, fresh, and cut to the perfect size for wrapping up anything you want. Overall, try this joint because it's dope. The food, the aroma, and the vibe will remind you of simpler times, sitting around the table with family enjoying a big dinner. Or, if you've ever been deployed, it'll remind you of those moments overseas when you miss everything back home, but for a little while, an incredible meal makes everything feel okay. Right off top, the server/hostess who checked for our reservations said the reservation wasn't booked. We were bummed out & headed to eat elsewhere, but we ended up getting an alert on our phone that we had placed. We thought score! $1 oysters here we come! After we sat down our server Lucy "F" had taken our cocktails & HH menu order. Immediately, Lucy began rubbing us wrong with her attitude and side eye. BUT as servers ourselves, we thought she could be having a bad day.. we let that slide. Mind you, the restaurant WAS NOT busy!! We began to try to enjoy our cocktails & oysters that we were initially there for. Being servers, we didn't want to order just from the HH menu, we wanted to spend a good amount, so we can tip 20-30% . We get it, we understand, we are in the industry. Unfortunately, the service was horrible!! The oysters were below sub par (haha! Getting what we paid for) We had to call for Lucy a few times, since she was not attentive. She did not refill our waters, our food took longer than the other tables that got there later than us. Finally, we drew the line.. we called her over to ask her what the looks were for & if she had a problem with us (because we were the only Asians there) She expressed that we had called her too many times & began raising her voice. The other customers began to stare at the unnecessary commotion. As we were still in the middle of our meals, we loss our appetite & wanted our check. We felt belittled, disrespected, mostly embarrassed. If she had taken care of our table, honestly we would've spent at least $400+ given her 20%-30%. We wanted to order more food & drinks. We will not be returning to that restaurant with mediocre oysters. She ended up with $0 tip, they added an automatic surcharge. Lucy, her initial sums it all up.. "F" for service. 0 stars , Yelp forced that 1 star to be posted.
