This place is simply amazing, I had this sever named Noah I believe and his customer service was incredible! He was super helpful about knowing what would go good with the queso you must get the chorizo with it! As well as the carne asada and smash burger taco! I have had a lot of burgers in my life the the smash burger is a must try! the two bartenders that I saw Kodi and Havi I think were their names came up and asked how the drinks were and the Tijuana tamarind was so so so good a little spicy and you could really taste the tamarind in it! Also what great decorated place with all the plants that compliment the orange interior! I will be coming back with my family soon!!! read more

I have eaten at the Eagle location 5 times. The first visit everything went well and the food (burrito) was good...not great but good as far as Mexican food goes for Idaho. Unfortunately, after the initial visit, there have been repeated problems(e.g., missing hot sauce, cold food, very long service delays or outright failure to deliver "to go" order). In addition, this place is pricey! They (I believe) came from San Diego and they are charging SoCal prices...with that one might expect food and service to reflect the pricing structure. They are recently opened so fingers crossed they get things ironed out...I will follow-up. read more

While recently visiting friends, they touted this place as true California tacos. Nothing is further from the truth. This place is ripping off local Idahoans with their food and drink prices. What I experienced is the worst of the "Cali" thing. Who can actually afford this WOKE food? If it was reproducing the actual street scene for tacos in CA, they wouldn't get away with charging 4 times the price of a specialty taco. The drink prices are totally inflated. The meats lack flavor and are full of gristle. Their salsas are weak, salty and totally suck. I get that this company is escaping CA like so many others ahead of the $20/hour pay requirement, but why inflict financial misery in Idaho? As a long time Yelper, I quickly saw so many fake 5 star reviews from people who didn't even hide the fact that they are fake. It is clear that the company is doing a desperate reach back to associates who live in CA to falsely boost their rating. Also, there are many 5 star reviews that come from people from ID,ID (fake address) and who have no friends, and have suddenly made Spitfire their first and only review. People of Eagle wake up, smell the imposter reviews and fake Mexican food. Note: To Scott S, manager of the business...You think you are pretty smart to have friends and employees writing fraudulent reviews which are all five star reviews. I have over 1100 reviews and know a little more than you do. You may get away with it for a while, but it will catch up to you. Notice that 25 reviews have been placed in the category for violating Yelp standards. Your business could get banned from Yelp if you keep it up. A word of advice - don't have your employees like Cn'a and Summer writing 5 star reviews on the same day, Jan 23, using fake accounts. Both of those ladies are mentioned in other reviews as being great servers at Spitfire. Looks like the unethical practices impact have deep roots in your staff. Yelp has been told. Meanwhile, don't write aggressive responses as you did toward me, if you hope to help your business. BTW are you Scott K. who wrote a glowing review on Dec 20? He doesn't have friends and gave the business his first and only review - 5 star to Spitfire. Yelpers need to keep up the good work and keep reporting these fraudulent writings. My wife and I are hoping to move to Eagle one of these days, so when a new place to eat opens there, we pay special attention to it. I am not sure just how long SpitFire has been open, but my wife has been telling me for a while that she wanted to try it out, so today was the day. When we pulled up in front of Spitfire to park, my 1st thought was really? From the outside, this place is not much to look at. I thought they were under construction still. From the street, it looked like the front was covered by plastic wrap. Why I thought this, I am not sure, but it just didn't look complete and inviting. Still, I kept and open mind and, along with my wife, went inside. Once inside, we asked for a booth. The only booths were in the bar area. The front was tables only. Even though the bar was not my 1st choice, we went anyway, because to be honest, my butt just likes the comfort of booths. I had told my wife earlier that I was in the mood for tacos, so this place fit the bill. We sat in our booth and waited to be amazed. The reason I didn't want to sit in the bar was soon apparent as we were accosted by the noise from the booth behind us that was filled with 20 somethings. My wife had the "Quesabirria' tacos. The menu said, "braised beef", which I guess is there word for Roast. My wife thought they were great. The flavor was way to flavorless for me, but this blandness fit her very well. I told the waiter about the lack of flavor. He told us that the tacos are designed to be eaten with a dipping cause like a French Dip. The dipping sauce that came with these had no real flavor. It tasted like a salty brown water. I loved the concept though of a taco that you dip in a sauce. This place would do well to expand on this concept. They could easily provide lots of various causes for this. I had the "Al Pastor", "Carne Asada", and "Pollo Asado". The Al Pastor I would not have again. After taking a bite of this, my pallet screamed at me that it was very confused. The combo of Pineapple and Mayo made this way too "UnTaco" for me. The Carne Asada was my fav of the 4 tacos I tasted. It had a good smokey steak flavor accompanied by cheese, guac, a few chilies and some other ingredients. My only real complain on this one was that it, like many of their other tacos had way too much onion. The Pollo Asado was the chicken taco. The chicken has a pretty good smokey flavor, and the balance of flavors was good. We also had the chips, salsa, and guac. The chips were seriously over salted. This brings me to a concern. Bars have a tendency to over salt things on purpose. One of the big underlying themes here seems to be salt. There is a trade secret that unscrupulous bars use to drive up their bar receipts. Salty food = Thirsty customers. This equals people ordering more drinks, which means more revenue for the bar. Id like to think this place is not using this strategy, but its something to keep in mind if you go here. The salsa was good but for me, lacked balance. It needed Cilantro, and tomatoes. The guac was for me, pretty non-descript. I will be going back to give SpitFire another chance, but for me, this trip rated only rated a fair to good rating of 4 on my 1 to 10 scale but this was largely due to their overuse of salt. read more

I will start with ambience. As others on year have written, it's loud and echoey. Here at about 1pm. I'm here in the front right now and the outside is filthy. They've got banners hanging off the building laying on the ground near the trash. There are mountains of keggers and Boxes flowing out of the back door area. There is a drive-through, but it's not a drive-through. It's only for pick up after you have pre-ordered. Nothing is labeled very well on the outside. There is a plastic protected outdoor seating enclosure, but nothing is marked as to where the front door might be or how to order or proceed. The moment I walk in, I was hit with a wave of noise, loud conversations, clanking, chairs being scraped across a concrete floor, very echoey and cold. There is a bar area, but there's no seating podium or signs as to whether it's open seating or hosted . Having been in the restaurant business before I entered by the bar only to find a little back room area off of the bar with a menu board above a counter, probably about 5' wide total, where I figured out I'm supposed to order. Not a big menu and limited to softshell tacos only. Only shrimp, no seafood tacos. No Carnitas, only beef and some Korean pork. Odd. I tried to order a Birria taco, and after a moment of his time away from the register, he returned with bad news that they are out. No indications on the menu board though. After I struck out with the menu, I declined any food and decided to leave. As for Service, there was no service to mention. Nobody approached me when I came in the door, the person receiving my order was so soft-spoken I could not hear him over the crowd. I took a photo of the kitchen area, which was sort of sloppy and not as sanitary as I would prefer. The lighting was very poor so you know that they can't clean very well if you can't see very well. A total bust, a total strike out on this. My advice to the owners. You have other businesses in California so you should know better. You should've been better prepared. Drinks well not sure about going rate is but you could easily rack up $30 for 2 drinks. The food, everything starts off with a medium spice so if you don't like spice this might not be the place for you. The meats/shrimp are either marinaded in something with spice or shrimp was coated in cayenne. This is your PSA The carne asada was over cooked on tacos, I had pollo on salad which was alright but too much dressing like my salad was swimming and very strong in lime department. This is a great addition to "downtown" Eagle. I've been there twice now, and had a good experience both times. The first time I had the Mex-Tex salad, and it was large and light but filling. Great flavor, fresh ingredients. Today (my second visit), I had the Korean pork belly taco and the carne asada taco. Both were so good that I know I'll order them the next time, even though I want to try the others. The Tuba Taxco cocktail is SO GOOD. I'm a bourbon person--my go-to cocktail is a Manhattan, or if I don't trust the vermouth somewhere, an old fashioned. This drink is fantastic. Bourbon forward with a little coffee, a little sweet, a little Smokey. I would come here just for this cocktail and the tajin tortilla chips and salsa. Oh yeah, do yourself a favor and order the chips and salsa and throw in the queso and guac. It's good. read more

It's interesting reading the previous reviews. A little harsh for a new place I think. Went last week with friends to try it out, and here is my honest review. Since I have had great Mexican food from all over, and I understand that this is Idaho, and Spitfire will be rated on a different scale. My scale will be from all the Mexican places I have tried here IN Idaho! The 4 of us came in on a snowy Friday night thinking people would have stayed home. I was so wrong. People were there, and a lot of them. Mostly 20 & 30 somethings. I was told an hour wait. Typically I hit the road, but we were set to try this place, and we were determined. On the wait, I don't like it when they say 1hr and then it takes 2. This was NOT the case here, the hostess did a good job on the estimated time. Extra points. 3 spots opened at the packed bar, and we took them with one standing while we waited. We ordered chips and salsa. They were good. I think the chips were spiced with paprika?, not my favorite, but OK, hat tip to being a bit different. The salsa was good, and a tad on the hot side for typical ID place. I liked it. They had Guac too, but we didn't get it. It looked good on our neighbors plate. We all ordered Margaritas. I had the typical standard, and my wife and friends had the huckleberry. Mine was ok tasting, nothing special, with a lot of ice. For the price I think it could have been more of the drink and a bit less on the ice. Kind of a nit pick there. The manager checked on our table, and said we would be up soon. And we were. We sat in a booth which was nice. Our waiter was friendly, and outgoing. All the staff, including the bar folks were all cool. So, don't fear the staff by all means. They were fine. The table ordered various taco's, and I had the burrito. With the tots and chicken. I have eaten a ton of burritos from all over, and these guys make a very good one. I really liked it. We all liked the tacos. The Hot taco, is well, HOT! So, be aware that here HOT does mean hot. I ordered another margarita, but I got the huckleberry one this time. It was really good. So, I would recommend that one for sure. So, some last thoughts... Give them some time. They are new here. But the basics are there for a very vibrant business going forward. Spitfire will be great in Summer when the roller doors go up, and we can all sit up on top or in the open area below. This will be a hot spot in downtown Eagle. Eagle downtown is on it's way, and Spitfire will be leading it. Anyway, Recommended! read more

Spitfire is a great addition to the Eagle food scene. They did a complete remodel on Doug's burger den and turned it into a taco and tequila spot with a cool vibe. I ordered a house margarita and the house made guacamole (delicious) , salsa (very good). and queso (Yum). Our server said the chips are made daily in house and they were equally as good. Next up was the Taco Al Pastor - plenty of thinly sliced meat from their vertical spit, avocado and some spicy toppings in a warm flour tortilla. I plan to stop by the drive thru later this week to try the breakfast burrito. It looks like the upstairs patio will be a blast when the weather gets warmer. read more

So so good! I've gone here twice and would love to come here again. Their tot-chos are my favorite thing. Instead of chips it's tots topped with pickled red onion, an AMAZING gooey cheese sauce, corn, black beans, and more. I wish I could make them at home. The shrimp taco I did not like that much. The shrimp in general was very good, but I was not warned about the sauce on top that was spicy and burning my mouth. The mushroom taco in the other hand was top notch. I've been to this place twice and friends know my husband and I are foodies so they always ask for a review. The first time was less than impressive, several tries in between were too busy to go with little seating, and this last time I figured they would have improved but I was hopeful for nothing. So, after waiting some time: here is our honest review. Both times: not very friendly service. Only friendly person is the main manager. Those taking your order hardly smile if at all. No eye contact. And don't even know how to answer if the tacos are "a la carte" lol Heads up: the counter is for to go orders only. We ordered and it had no clue. They never ask "here or to go" so they can direct new customers to sit down if they want to dine in. Otherwise, your food is in a bag lol Really, I don't care about patio seating or ambiance. Both of those are fine. The patio heater does its job. However, I come for the food. The burritos with the tots: wouldn't order again. The first time we tried to go they were sold out so technically the burrito time was the second. And they were out of all kinds of stuff. When I ordered a coffee with my breakfast burrito they couldn't even find the cream and finally brought me milk. Food is too expensive for what you get. And I pay for food. No reason a taco should be $7 and be mediocre at best. The birria needs more cheese and less cumin and cinnamon. I literally choked my first bite for cinnamon hitting the back. And I eat habanero salsa. It's not about hot or spicy. It's about the spices being disproportioned. The birria is a complete let down with soggy tacos instead of fried. Al pastor was better but again, no reason we should buy 5 street tacos a la carte and 2 sodas for $50. Unfortunately, we won't be back. However, wishing the best to the owners. I suggest more training or next time soft opening for a week or two and get in your groove before opening and overwhelming your staff. read more

We've been here a few times and the food has been excellent each time. It's similar if not better than Madre's in Boise. They use high quality ingredients and their sauces are fantastic. We've tried the steak and shrimp burrito, the nachos, the chips and salsa, the pork belly tacos, the birria tacos, and several others. It has been hard to identify a clear best item (which is a good thing because they're all good). The pricing is on par for high quality Mexican food and our feeling is that they deliver the expected value. The ambience is nice and we look forward to when the outdoor patio is fully opened up in the summer. Our waitresses have been good and have been helpful in solving problems related to kids at our table. Overall, we recommend it and are glad they're in Eagle - Eagle has needed something like this so we're excited they're here! read more

If you're looking for a metropolitan feel in downtown Eagle, this may be it! Unfortunately, due to being a smallish space with all acoustically reflective surfaces (hard flat ceilings, floors, walls, tables), it wraps you in the ambiance of a New York subway station. But hey, metro! On to the menu... The nose on the Smoked Piña Margarita bordered on burnt versus smoked, but the real issue was the drink itself. Extra heavy on the lime juice, to the point that any mezcal or tequila--assuming some was present--was very well hidden. Especially disappointing for a joint that bills itself as a tequila spot. The pork belly taco was OK. Not great, but OK. It was edible, but I certainly would never seek one out again. The shrimp ceviche was similarly OK. No food poisoning so far, so that's a plus! However, the ceviche's liquid was acidic to the point of unpleasant bitterness, perhaps attributable to over zealous squeezing. It was otherwise one-noted and poorly balanced. Instead of being inviting, fragrant, refreshing, and with a kick of spice--what a ceviche should be--it was just boring. The chips, at least those that weren't stale, were the best part. I'd joke that maybe the food gets better with additional drinks... but what helps you get through the drinks? read more

I was on my way to my daughter's house and really wanted a breakfast burrito - I actually drove through 2 centers where I knew there were taco shops, but both were closed. I finally opened google maps and searched. Spitfire Tacos was the closest and on the way, so I headed over. I was quickly greeted at the counter, and after reviewing the menu board I asked my server which was his favorite breakfast burrito? He said the savory sausage, but he adds bacon, so I ordered 2. Truthfully, I was kind of shocked by the prices and the fact that they use American cheese. I don't hate American cheese and I think it has its place... Definitely in this burrito!!. The subtle sweetness of the cheese worked really well with the smoke (bacon?), I was picking up. I loved the crunch from the tots, the eggs were not overcooked and I appreciated the green sauce inside and that extra sauce was in my bag. I added it to make my bites extra delicious. My only negative thought was that I didn't get any napkins in my bag and that would have been a problem if I was road tripping. The burrito was big; (it was my breakfast and then my lunch!), $12 was a steal! I'll be back Spitfire and thank you for the early bird breakfast P.S. my daughter loved hers too! read more

The food at Spitfire is fantastic. The service was impeccable as the staff works in unison and consistently checks on the customers. All the servers are very enthusiastic and personable. The smash burger taco is absolutely fantastic and that should be a staple on the menu. Please!!! Hopefully the GM considers leaving it as a full time option. The atmosphere is fun and the restaurants layout is awesome as you have outdoor options and an upstairs patio. Great vibe and amazing cocktails especially the Mexico City Margarita. I am not sure where to start. The food: 1. There is Tajin on almost 80% of the menu. Tajin green salsa; Tajin crema; Tajin dusted tortilla chips; Tajin rims on all drinks. Why??? 2. The flavors from the salsa to the birria ramen to the tacos to the guac were... off. Not slightly off, but very, very off. The birria ramen at first bite was all cinnamon and cloves - not balanced at all - and very little consommé was given. They added purple cabbage to the birria ramen which was not necessary. Unbalanced flavor profiles across the board. 3. Portions were inadequate. Period. $7 for a chicken taco that was about 2.5 bites to finish. The ambiance and service: We sat on the rooftop patio - it was nice out so we enjoyed that. However, this was brought down by the staff. They were steeping in chaos. Had to grab our own silverware and napkins after having our appetizers delivered. The bartender STRUGGLED to open a bottle of wine. I always give folks the benefit of the doubt when it comes to little things, but holy heavens it was as if the cork screw had just been invented. She was delightful; her ability to deliver good service was lackluster. Think twice. read more
