For my choice of protein, I went for my usual Beef and lamb, and they are tender and well seasoned. The wrap is so good and can be easily split with another person! COMBO MEAL - $7.50 For just an additional $7.50, I get a side and drink: FRIED PITA STRIPS w/HUMMUS - Such a unique and tasty side. You get thick strips of pita that has been deep fried and a side of hummus to dip. I can eat this alone for hours. So good! COKE - It's just a drink. I've always liked Spitz and the Hillhurst location has a great neighborhood vibe. Friendly people, good food, and it's been one of my go-to spots over the years. This time we ordered delivery and decided to try the Doquito. We also used the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" deal because... well, who doesn't notice a good promotion? Here's what caught us off guard. We ordered three Doquitos. One regular and two through the promotion. When the order arrived, the promotional ones were roughly half the size of the regular one (see photos). So in reality, it wasn't two identical Doquitos with one free. The portion size was reduced. Maybe that's how the promotion is intended, but it wasn't communicated anywhere that I saw. It left us feeling disappointed because the expectation was very different. As for the food itself, the filling and sauce were good. The tortilla was a little too thick and chewy for my taste. I still like Spitz overall and will probably come back. I just think the promotion could be presented much more clearly so customers know exactly what they're ordering. read more

Rating: 3.5/5: Hit up Spitz on a mellow day and tried the Street Cart Wrap--with fries tucked inside like a tasty little surprise. Solid wrap. Wrap leaned on the healthier side, which felt like it was trying to do me a favor I didn't ask for needed after my Easter Sunday gorge. The tomato and green sauces came through with a nice lil' kick. I have always loved Mediterranean food, and right now that I am on a health journey, that seems to be sticking, I decided to try this place, as I passed across it looking for another place. The place described itself as Mediterranen (Med.) street food, which was the allure. I have had Med. food before but what specifically was Med. street food? I was curious enough to enter for answer, and, I know enough to claim that Med. food by ease can be healthy food that is also light. I had both an internal squabble and joy ride trying to identify the aesthetic vibe of this place. For instance, there was this bubble-gum colored spirit that is all around this place.There were these hot pink ropes that held headlight looking flashlights that worked as chandeliers. And no I did not say bubble gum pink just because the ropes were pink. It is is more the electro-punk vibe that seems to be best carried by a modern day Punk Rock Barbie. Like only this Barbie would have chosen the golden unicorn with a twist white horn, because it feels like neon green nail polish--- it attracts attention but at the same time feelds childish yet sophisticated like bubble-gum colored spirit. The other identity evident in the chaos of aesthetic is a modern day punk rocker gone posh and industry, almost like Punk Rocker Ken with gold pipe colored hair. The place had beer on tap and maybe beer on kegs that hanged on the wall. The Craft Beer was listed in these quirky chalkboard looking thinks with stars and colors that made the eye dance and pulse to beats of small pixels that were glitzy details. Last;y. the whole place was colored, accented, decorated, enhanced (like with a toy corner and hooks for employee backpacks) by a toddler and his eight crayons and the toddler also had the gift of unrestrained expression. It was all great, and vibrant, but the place did connect all these elements . It was a whirl-whind of color and things that made it funky but not stylish. It made it cool but not cleaned up. It had the opposite of rustic charm, it had pow-wow factor held by neon colored bandaids, found again clutter, and punk sensibilities. I guess that is why the place can serve as a bar, a restaurant, a work space and a bigger bar on weekends when more crowds are available. I guess, I said this place has variety of space and feel so it adapts to different cycles of time. I opted to get a bowl and it was amazing! I got the Remix Bowl: with quinoa (you can choise rice) llemon herb tahini dressing, marinated garbanzos, harrssa, cabbage slaw, feta, roasted corn, olivs, crispy garbanzos, sumac, and some other commong veggis. My only complain is that the bowl was too small. I wanted more salad, I wanted more cause it was some delicious food that was more than street food, I could eaten at a fine dining establisment and not known that it was from a place that uttered street as a selling point. The crispy garbanzos were the note that hit hard. They were not many, but when you found one in a bite, the crunch and taste as airy delight. Give me roasted, corn, chicken, and the flavors of Mykanos and I am happy. I am not too oroud to admit, that I used my finger to pick up the bits that I could not eat as I devoured. It was good to the last lick. I cannot wait to go back here, and taste more of their options. And apparently, it is a chain. That helps. read more

Stopped by this place on a road trip. It was a great pit stop. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and we received fast and friendly service. It's a very casual place, lots of folks come just to hang out and maybe play some games after their meal. The food was amazing. My better half wanted to check out this place...I'm always down for Mediterranean and oh it did not disappoint!! The place has a really cool eclectic vibe I loved all the decor. ..I'm talking elementary school chairs. Yes those hard rubber looking metal chairs that are look uncomfortable AF but we're actually quite comfortable. I'm thinking did someone just throw those away and they happen to pick them up?!? Prince record, Stevie Wonder, a board game section..whatever the situation was it totally worked and it upped the coolness factor. There's plenty of seating you order up at the counter and they bring out the food to you. We ordered a Med bowl with beef and a Gyro, along with a peach basil sangria, and a beer. Food came out quickly and it was really good!! Both were super flavorful, but not overly seasoned the sauces that came along with it were amazing. Service was great I can't say much about the parking since we walked there, but it looks like there's plenty of street parking, and they also have seating outside. Although it was quite loud inside, likely because there is a bar inside the main dining space + inebriated people (love that for them), my husband and I loved our experience. Walked up to the counter to place our order -- we tried a remix bowl (with falafel side) & a street cart wrap (with waffle fry side) -- and both were amazing and filling. They brought the food to our table, very quickly, and we were able to get free refills on our soft drinks at the bar throughout the meal. They have a self-service water station and a complimentary sauce bar (the harissa is delicious). Looking forward to trying something different next time! read more

Normally I love Spitz, their food is great and I visit regularly as I work down the street. Tonight wasn't so good. I came in and ordered a Doner basket it was plentiful and delicious, but I could quite finish it. I went to put my bowl in the bin and dumped what was left of my food in the trash when I saw it. A short dark hair in the bottom of my bowl. I moved it around with my fork just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I didn't want to make a big deal, there were a lot of people in watching basketball and eating. So I just left feeling a little queasy. I don't know if I'll be back, this might take some time to get over. I'm super sad about because I love eating here and the staff are super nice. read more

Thank God my wife and I opened the wrap to check it first. Totally could have swallowed or choked on. And my donor street wrap was a soggy mess. Then this same guy comes up 5 mins later to ask what am I picking up, I told him I already was taken care of, apparently he didn't hear me so he asked again, I told him don't worry about it, he walks around me and looks me in the eye and says, "I'm sorry??", at this point I have adrenaline rushing through me, I feel like this guy wants to fight me or something so I decided to just ignore him. The whole awkward a situation was saved by the bartender putting the bag of fries in between us and saying sorry for the wait. I like this place, but now I feel like never going back. I manage a bar on the Strip in Las Vegas, I've been in the service industry for 13+ years. I'm here half the week due to training and school, I'm always nice and I ALWAYS tip, I just don't get some people.
