They have just one main item on the menu that is lavash wraps. For filling you've the choice of beef & lamb (which is the traditional döner filling), chicken, falafel or just veggies. Tried the spicy döner, which had a little bit of heat that complemented the meats and veggies well. But the star of the meal was definitely the fries. Street cart fries were better than the Berlin döner fries. Also we got the mix of sweet potato and regular fries. Would definitely recommend the combo. read more

Really great mediterranian sandwiches/wraps. I've had the spicy doner and the zesty feta. Both were made with fresh ingredients and had really good flavor. Full bar with three different types of sangria. The red was my favorite. My only suggestion is that they add another register or maybe a dedicated register for take out to speed up the ordering process. Other then that, the service was good. read more

Terrible catering experience through Spitz. I have had some previous decent experiences so I am giving 2 stars vs 1. They gave my food to a third party delivery service without any of the sauces or toppings. Mind you, I ordered a make your own buffet so there was meat, falafel, lettuce, wraps and quinoa. No toppings or sauces or plates or utensils. The driver went back to the establishment to pick up items and was turned away by them. They claimed I wanted a refund so they were not giving me the items. I had talked to the third party vendor about some sort of compensation because by this point lunch was almost over and many people couldn't eat. There was however, a handful that we're still waiting for the toppings and sauces to come back. I kept telling them that they were coming back for over an hour and 45 minutes. The establishment Finally agree to give toppings after the company called them again to demand they send the missing items with the driver upon their return. The driver was awesome and he said when he initially Picked up the order had questioned if he was missing any items and they said no he also said that the restaurant was not busy so they can't blame it on that. 3 hours after my initial lunch was delivered the toppings finally made it. I cater about 5-6 lunches/month for work I won't ever use this place again! read more

My boyfriend constantly talked about döners that he had in Berlin and how much he'd want to have more of those here. So when I was looking at places to eat in Portland area I figured to give this place a try, after all they have a döner on the menu called 'Berliner Döner'. The restaurant itself is a cute little place with cool graphics spray painted on the concrete walls. When ordering we quickly realized that maybe the people who work there don't know much about döner since they were pronouncing it wrong. When the food arrived though looked appetizing it wasn't the best döner that I've had. Not worth it. It's a HARD pass on this place if anyone would suggest this place to me. Expensive for what you get. You don't get a lot of meat in the gyros. There are tons of places that do provide great gyros even the food carts/trucks offer better options, better meat quality. More meat and over all a better experience. Had kinda brooding / miserable service the first time I came here, but the food was pretty great. Figured I'd roll the dice again after they dropped off a sweet coupon in my mailbox. Hyped to have a spot open later on evenings in the neighborhood that takes phone & online orders. Called 4 times over 15 minutes, around 9pm to place a to-go order (supposedly open until 10pm.) Nobody answered. Drove over & arrived before 9:30. Dude was closing up because they were slow. I get it... but I'm really hungry, passed up other options (which get real slim after 9 pm on Monday nights.) Moral... Please stick to advertised hours and / or answer your phone if you're going to risk potentially hosing customers. First encounter was a tad rude. The bartender/server that looks hip with glasses isn't really hip at all. His face says it all. Every question I had he was snarky about it. Food was good but a bit scattered. Look great from the middle cut but towards the end it didn't have much substance in it. I had the street cart and zesty lamb/beef doner. If you get a beer and tip, it is about 23 bucks for a meal, but I always have leftovers for home or some to share. I was craving tzatziki sauce (weird, I know, considering I don't normally like it and I definitely don't like cucumbers) and we happened to be in the area, so we stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to grab a bite. The place was empty because we came at a weird time. Nonetheless we were friendly greeted. I ordered a street car doner and Berliner fries... the fries were scary. It was ridiculously large with piles and piles of food on top of the fries. Yes it was quite salty, but would go perfect with a nice cold beer! One thing that I loved about this place was how tightly the wraps were! If you're a mom with a grabby lap baby, you'd know how difficult it is to eat with just one hand, and how critical your food choice needs to be: something that's clean, can be consumed with one-hand, and nothing should fall out from it. Oh yeah preferably delicious with some nutritional value... but that's totally secondary. However, I have to say, the doner that I got, not only was easy to consume, it was very yummy too! The tzatziki sauce was refreshing and complemented well with mixed meats! I highly recommend it - even the baby got to have some lavash! We are not in the area very often, but I would recommend this place as it is quite family friendly (yes high chairs!) and I imagine the patio is dog-friendly, too! read more

This place is awesome! I used to eat dönor kebabs back in Germany years ago and this place takes me back with every bite. The food is delicious! I had a dönor with pommes (the fries are inside the wrap!) and my fiancée (who is gluten free) had the garden bowl - both were fantastic! Super flavorful, filling, and a great value. They also serve beer+cider on draft, as well as spirits and cocktails. 10/10 will come back again! PS - They also serve brunch, so we can't wait to come back for that too! read more

I absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh, filling and a great value. The staff is very attentive and personable. The atmosphere is unique, laid back and very inviting. Everytime we come here we always have a great time and leave full and happy. They also have a great, focused beer selection which I love! SPITZ - I really do enjoy the doners - good portion/flavor. I got the original and it was solid. I also got the breakfast foaccacia - it was fine, really sweet from the syrup, but was just really a breakfast sandwich, nothing special. I think I'll just stick with the doners next time. I think the vibe is super chill here and they have a killer patio. They have games (Jenga, connext4, etc.) to play while you wait or during your meal or to accompany your drinks). All in all, if I was in the area, I would definitely come by to try more doners read more

We have visited Spitz many times and unfortunately when we order the Spitz salad, they have forgotten to provide the salad dressings multiple times. It's frustrating to come home and have paid $16 for a salad and not have any dressing for my meal. read more

My friend and I wanted to try some Mediterranean food and someone recommended Spitz. Upon our arrival there was a strong smell that was not appealing, relentlessly we walked up and ordered. Despite the waiter not being hospitable our food arrived pretty fast. We opened our chicken wraps (street wrap)and despite the smell of the paper the wrap came in, the food was exactly what we ordered. On a scale from 1-10 the chicken wrap revived a 3. The place had so many fruit flies it was like we were fighting with them to eat our food. Which was a complete turn off. As my friend put it "this is definitely the top worst food places we tried" Not to sound like Gordon Ramsey but I wouldn't go if I were you. read more

Ordered for delivery last night. The caviar photos look amazing. I was super excited for the Vegan wrap and I love waffle cut fries. I ordered 6 sides of sauces cause I'm obsessed with condiments, and at the last minute I decided to try the Berliner fries too with regular fries. The wrap was super disappointing. It was dry as the Sahara, half the size as the ones pictured on caviar, and had about half the listed ingredients missing. Bummer. Don't waste your money on the waffle cut fries for delivery. They don't even try to keep your food warm. The fries were thrown in a open paper bag. By the time they arrived they were ice cold and dried out. Thank god I got the Berliner fries! These were delicious. So tasty and flavorful and light! I didn't feel heavy after eating almost the entire dish. The toppings were fresh-although no cabbage or carrot slaw(as described) and the sauces were great. The fries themselves were good-I'm sure they'd be really good hot. For the side sauces I got extra Berliner, tzatziki, garlic aioli(this was good, although they also forgot to give me the garlic aioli that came with the waffle fries-I should have had two sides of this, but only got one) tahini-this was ok, hot sauce-also ok, and the harissa-which is normally love, but wasn't a fan of theirs at all. So would I order from them again? Probably for the loaded fries, and only for dine in or takeout to make sure I got everything I was supposed to(delivery platforms are less and less accommodating these days), and no interest in trying their wraps again since they were such a big disappointment. read more

First time customer. Had two gyros and loved them both. Refreshing that lavash is used instead of pita. Price was a little high and ordering was a little slow but if a food carts average 4 stars these days then Spitz has earned a 5 star with great environment, great food, serving alcohol.
