I've been ordering dinners from Spitz for years. I can only speak to the vegetarian options which there are plenty of. The bowls, salads and wraps never disappoint. My favorite is the Remix bowl with a side of fries or fried pita chips. Spitz also has delicious sangria and creative cocktails. The food is always tasty with lots of variety! My partner feels too messy and too much feta and salty and I felt the quantity is getting smaller and smaller for the bowls. Always amazing fast service! The people are always so kind and friendly. I like the flavor of all the sauces especially the garlic aioli and the fried pita was really good this time. 2.0 for the food 1.0 for the experience I ordered from Spitz via their website on a weeknight for a post work dinner. Grabbed a combo wrap with fries, no drink. Easy enough to order so plus points there! I grabbed the street cart wrap with veggies because it sounded tasty and I wanted that fried lavash chip crunch. But unfortunately, when I went to get it I didn't check my order bag before driving home. And dang it wouldn't you know it -- my wrap was filled with meat. As my yelp profile may give away, I'm vegetarian and don't eat meat. I called the restaurant to tell them what had happened and they said they would replace the order and to keep the meat wrap and give it to someone else. Mainly super inconvenient because I had to drive back on a busy weeknight. Somehow they managed to mess up my order a second time because this time the wrap was filled with veggies but no lavash chips. The taste itself was ok, honestly bland for all the garlic aioli they put on it. The fries were yummy which was the real saving grace here. Overall, not a great experience and just some ok food. There are so many other options for a great meal in the area so I'd skip this one. read more

We both ordered wraps. I ordered the one with Berliner red sauce. When they came you could hardly tell them apart. I took my wrap up to the bar to inquire as there was no red sauce to be seen. They insisted it was in there. Later the guy brought me a cup of the sauce as if I wanted more. The wraps were tasty but nothing was warm. The meat inside was the same temperature as the other filling. We ate half and took the rest home. The next day we warmed them up a bit and they were much better. read more

Really love this place, but for the love of god, please put ketchup out for customers. This place is too busy to have to wait in line to ask for ketchup 3x because it never comes. Spitz is a decent place for lunch or to fulfill your Mediterranean food craving. I wasn't as fond of it for a few reasons: 1.) There wasn't enough sauce! One of my favorite components of Mediterranean dishes is Tzatziki sauce. When my boyfriend was eating his doner and I was eating my Doner Salad, we found ourselves craving for more sauce! Extra sauce is a few cents extra, but even with the extra sauce it didn't do it for us. 2.) For the Doner Salad specifically - I thought there were too many fried components in the salad. I am okay with a crunch here or there, but the fried pita bread, fried lavash chips, and crispy garbanzo was a bit much. Plus, all of those components tasted heavily fried and you are given a sizable amount. For this reason, I don't think I would order the salad again. 3.) I didn't find the meat (we had beef & lamb) very flavorful, but my boyfriend said the chicken was good. I will say that the green ingredients tasted very fresh and our food was packaged nicely (we Door Dash'd) I don't think this would be my go-to lunch spot or Mediterranean food place, but I wouldn't mind having it again. read more

This whole place feels like a bad Pinterest board of a an early twenties something yt girl who just discovered Coachella and wasn't told about hate crimes yet. Ngl the food was fine, a little over priced for what it was but fine. Drinks were also just okay (bartender guy made sure to "warn" us how spicy their not at all spicy drinks were- in passing for no reason). Just kind of a mess of a place honestly. Stopping here was a short term decision for a quick bite before heading to the airport. But I'm glad I did. I had the the basket doner with chicken and it was pretty tasty. The fried pita is good, I like it. The whole entree was a big portion, so I couldn't finish the French fries. For me, it's a little bit pricey, but I guess Portland fast foods are expensive. I'm from California and the Mediterranean fast foods I've been to are bigger and a bit cheaper. I've ordered 4 entrees for 4 people and the whole order took 20 mins, the timing is good. I didn't eat in, ordered to go. But the outdoor dining seems nice, it's under the sun, and the weather today is perfect. read more

Stopped by to check this place out and man am I happy we brought our appetites. My husband had this place on his list to try ,and we made it a priority to stop by. This place is bright with a fun and open concept. The outdoor seating area is pretty cool as well. The staff is extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. My husband and I shared a street cart donör along with street cart fries. We also tried the fried pita strips with hummus and the falafel. To drink we had the rosè sangria and the orange and basil sangria. Everything tasted amazing! Hopefully we're able to stop by again before we leave. I definitely recommend this place if you love Mediterranean food. It met all of our expectations. read more

Liked my food quite a bit, so hopefully I can upgrade this later. But a couple of things really annoyed me and kept this from being a positive review. Let me just get those out of the way so that we can move onto the tasty bites. First, I ordered online using their dedicated app. It was an annoying process, but whatever... these are the times we live in. Thing is, it said for pick up it'd be 30 minutes. We show up right on time, and then I stand around and wait another half an hour. It's not that I mind waiting, it's that I mind being lied to. Get your system calibrated, folks. Second, the combo comes with a drink so we ordered a sprite. They tell me that they're out of Sprite, and what would I like instead? We ask for a Diet Coke. When we get home, what did I find? A Diet Rite Zero. WTF? Where do you even find Diet Rite Zero, and why would you think it's at all ok to sub it in without asking? Lame. But those are minor(ish) issues. We both ordered their most standard menu item, the Street Cart Doner. It was VERY tasty, with lots of flavor and texture, thanks to the cucumbers, cabbage, etc. It was also super filling, and I only ate half. Combos comes with sides and drinks and don't seem to save you any money. Something to consider. I got the fried pita strips and hummus and he got the the sweet potato fries. Both were pretty average. Tasty but not something I'd go out of my way to recommend. Kind of how I feel about Spitz in general. Tasty, but hard pressed to give it a strong recommendation. I can't say enough good things about Spitz. You have to get the sweet potato cris cross fries WITH the garlic sauce. Then the next time you go graduate to the loader Berliner fries but ask them to make it with the sweet potato fries. The food comes out fast and the service is good. Stop reading this and GO. When I lived in LA I visited Spitz's SoCal locations many many times, and their döner wraps --- that I hadn't eaten in 5+ years --- just sounded SO good the other nite. TBH tho food wrapped in a thick or thin toasted bread always sounds good to me.... I had the Berliner with some DELICIOUS fries. The wrap was as tasty as I remember although, as other reviews have mentioned, not fully-loaded with meat, which is no biggie for me since I selected that menu choice for everything inside not just the protein portion. Although I had water to drink that nite Spitz also has beers on tap and sangria (red and white AND rosé!). The place was taking COVID precautions seriously -- limited indoor seating, masks required, and a spacious tent set up outside to keep diners physically distanced from one another. read more

This was my first visit here to SPITZ and it's truly an ultra impromptu visit - I may as well have been playing "spin-the-bottle". Regardless, I drove over, parked street side and found myself warily walking down the sidewalk trying to determine if I would actually go in. I am so flippin' glad that I did! I slapped on my mask, read the safety signage and walked in with a meal already in mind from the online menu. Cheerfully greeted by the bartender/cashier/server girl, I was informed about their "Contactless" ordering app, to which I must admit, I didn't pay much attention to! It's sad, but true. I barely heard a word she said about it. I was famished and didn't want to hear much more than "Yes, Captain Caveman ... here is your food Captain Caveman. More libations, Captain Caveman?" I quickly ordered and then, like a dolt from the 1800's, proceeded to pay with cash! Nice one, Homer! Needless to say, this was not the most helpful way to pay during a COVID-19 crisis, but hey, I'm "that guy" today. [ Insert swift kick to @$$ here ] So, now to my next "first" here, which was the mouthsplosion that my tastebuds underwent when the first Sweet Potato Waffle Fry, dipped in an unknown sauce, smacked its way into my watering mouth-hole. Yeah. It was that good. Hands down like sweet potato heaven dipped in rapture sauce. And just when I thought that was good, I followed it up with a bite of the Street Cart Doner (pronounced "Donner" according to the cashier). Partner-owner, Fernando was checking on customers, bussing tables, moving umbrellas to make customers comfortable in the sun, and engaging when we asked about the business. On the first 70 deg day of 2018, perfect patio time, no firepit needed today, sipped down Happy Hr (3-7PM) $5 red cardamom cinnamon sangria, $3 Fremont Interurban IPA super hoppy medium body and oh so refreshing that #2 came within minutes. It's the best new IPA we've tried since Fort George and Boneyard made their marks. Doners popular in Canada and Europe, serve up the same gyro familiar proteins in these Lavash wraps, similar to an unsalted saltine wrap. Tried and Approve of their Berlin red sauce that adds subtle harissa heat. Do it. The Lavash makes for a thin, crisp, meat packed Doquito, think overstuffed older brother of taquito dressed with a salad of green peppers, pepperoncini, toms and onions and something nacho cheesy, was it the aioli? What happened to the level of quality with the takeout orders? Grabbed takeout this week and severely disappointed- bowls were not even half full with food, meat was hard (was it left over from 2 days ago?), and everything, including the sides of fries, were cold. The majority of food content in the bowls we ordered was just a lot of feta cheese and hummus, so unfortunately this wasn't even an actual meal. Such a bummer- used to love grabbing takeout from here, but this was a disappointing waste of money and time spent driving back and forth to want to come back. read more

I was visiting a friend in this neighborhood and was looking for some Mediterranean comfort food. This TOTALLY hit the spot. The space itself is bright, fun and eclectic. On a sunny day, I could see this place being the place to be for happy hour and beyond. The staff was warm and friendly, and interacted with us frequently after we finished our food. This place is amazing and I only regret not trying it sooner! I ordered the pita strips, extra garlic sauce, and a berliner bowl. The pita is super similar to an olive garden breadstick that's been smashed and made slightly crispy- it is SOOOO good and their twist on toum is absolutely dellicious! The bowl was huge and super fresh, very hearty portions of feta and pickled onions which i love. I wish there was a little more grain offered in the bowl to balance it out better but the flavors and everything are so amazing that it's just a minor personal preference. I've eaten at Spitz a few times now and omg... loveee. I get their wraps and gyros and both are incredible. The fries are also I'm typically a sweet potato fry gal, but recommend the regular fries here forsure! Something I love about Spitz is that is makes awesome take out. I love the fried garbanzos with olives but had to send them back once when they tried to serve us re-fried garbanzos which must have been sitting and then reheated. They were accommodating when I said these don't taste right and they made us fresh. I came to Spitz with high expectations based on what I've read and heard. I get excited to eat any kind of meat that is cooked on a rotisserie or vertical spit. Upon arriving I noticed that the space was very welcoming and inviting, and the decor and branding were very cohesive and well thought out. The outdoor dining area was really well laid out well with ample space and different seating options. The restaurant is a fast casual counter service style restaurant, however I found myself standing for several minutes not quite sure on what to do. I took a look at the menu and the Street Cart Doner which was highlighted in a black box caught my eye and made my decision easy. I felt like my food took exceptionally long to arrive despite the restaurant being at roughly 1/3 capacity. When my food arrived I was pretty happy with the presentation as the wrap was neatly rolled in a tight package and cut on a bias. The wrap was probably the most photogenic wrap/gyro I've ever seen and I was anxious to take a bite. The food was adequate but didn't leave a lasting impression. I ordered the beef and lamb and while the meat was tasty I couldn't help but notice that it didn't stand out on its own. Everything was quite balanced from the veggies, aioli, bread, and the meat, but I was expecting for the sauce and or the meat to take center stage. The experience and the food were both fine for me, but it didn't leave me with any type of emotional connection to eat more this particular meal or had me dying to return. read more
