I wish I would have taken a picture of our dish, we were kind of in a rush. We got the sampler pupu platter. Had pretty tasty Chicken wings, Kalua Pig Nachos which were also pretty good. We were told by the Waitress, Catherine, that the Chicharrones were no longer gluten-free. Since it's not a big deal for us, we said no worries. When the Trio came it was nicely presented. I took one Chicharrones and dipped it in the sauce. It was so salty, had no idea that they had salted the Chicharrones. it was supposed to be vinegar salt Chicharrones. When we took a closer look a the actual pork rinds, it was covered in SALT. Like they dumped the whole salt container on it. If I had a heart condition, I think I would have had a heart attack right then and there. There was so much salt on the pieces that it left a salt trail on my plate as I transferred it from the platter to the plate. I told the waitress "This is awful, you should try this and give it to your boss to taste. The manager later came over, and even she wouldn't try it. I told them your chefs should taste their food before they send it out the door. I mean my lips were puckered from the sheer amount of salt there was on each piece. They didn't give us a discount on our meal, they apologized, but nothing else. If I had time, I would have made the chef come out and try a piece of it in front of me. They wouldn't. When your appetizers are shitty, people most likely be back for dinner. What i totally didn't understand was, the gluten free thing with pork rinds, like what is it they put on the pork rinds that makes it no longer gluten free? The musicians, the entertainment, and the setting were wonderful. We used to come to the nice restaurant and have dinner from time to time, so sad that SPLASH is there instead. Super disappointed in the food and customer service of this place. We probably won't be returning here anytime soon. So sad because I was turning my GF on to this place. read more

Two stars is me being generous...this place was not good at all. The beers that we ordered were subsequently switched due to lack of product. Also. I ordered nachos and they were disgusting. I didn't know that people could mess up nachos but here we are. I was going to order food but the servers kept walking past me. I saw 1 man and 2 ladies who were the servers. The man walked by me twice, looked at me, and gave me a head nod once He then continued to go around and clean tables off. None of the females even acknowledged that I was sitting there. The food and alcohol are both WAY over priced, but what do you expect for a bar that's located in a nice hotel in the middle of Waikiki? The ambiance is amazing and the live music is good. I feel like if you are willing to spend two, to three times the money, you should be at least recognized when you enter an establishment. I will stretch it and give three stars, but that is a stretch due to the prices and very poor service. read more

Splash is in the lobby of the hotel. Most guests come here due to convenience. Drinks-- good. I had the Skinny colada and my female friend the Chi chi. For $9-11, this cocktail menu with Hawaiian style is decent and delightful. Food-- Jesus please tell the chef to go easy on the salt! Ahi poke salad--awesome at first bite, then in 10 seconds I was overwhelmed by the amount of salt and seasoning in the tuna. Kailua pork sandwich-- same thing! Great first bite, then I knew the salt bottle was spilled again. Uh, what a way to ruin a good dish. The Kalua pull pork was so tender and juicy itself. Just half spoon less salt please! Ambience-- hotels guests are constantly floating by you since it's in the open lobby area. At night, try to sit closer to the pool and music. Service was great - servers are friendly, prompt and fun. Portions for the pupus was a little larger than I anticipated (we ordered four thinking the portions would be small). we came by here a couple times cause we were staying at the Princess. the bar is poolside and has a pretty nice set up. they have a breakfast buffet here too which i hear isn't too bad. kinda pricey i think for $24. they have a happy hour here that runs from 330p-530p... i think. check to make sure. the non happy hour prices are pretty steep. i ordered a miller lite and a shirley temple for mama while waiting for our friends. it ran about $11. wtf? oh well, it's a poolside hotel bar across from the beach. i expected it. i do like their doritos mix though. curry type spice going on. nice ambiance, but definitely pricey. i wouldn't come here if i wasn't staying. read more

You can't make alterations to the menu item. I'm allergic to pork and I couldn't even get chicken on it. I had to get a meatless nacho and pay the same price. What if I was Jewish or Muslim? This establishment wouldn't make the changes needed to due to my religious beliefs. My wife and I arrived at the hotel late in the evening and didn't find anything nearby for dinner appealing or with immediate seating available. We thought we would "settle" with the hotel bar but discovered instead some great food at Hawaii reasonable prices. I think we showed up right before the kitchen was scheduled to close but our server made us feel welcome and took our orders. I selected the Perfect Pair while my wife got the pulled pork sandwich and we both got Longboard Lagers to drink. Our food arrived after a reasonable wait hot and tasty. I couldn't decide which of the slider sandwiches I liked better. The pineapple on the burger gave it a sweetness that paired well. I may update my mantra that anything can be improved by wrapping it in bacon, dipping it in chocolate or sprinkling cinnamon on it with adding diced pineapple on top. The pork slider was equally as enjoyable and just a smaller version of what my wife ordered. Pork seems to be to go to dish on the islands and never disappoints. Give these guys a chance especially if you don't feel like wondering far. read more

Eh...it was not good, but it was not bad. More or less what you would expect from a hotel bar. The ambiance, however, is nice--situated by a pool and at night there is sometimes live music. I ordered the Maui Mint Freeze and the Kalbi Beef Lettuce Wraps. First, the drink. The drink was very tropical and fruity...think of a mojito with mango added to it, and essentially you have the Maui Mint Freeze. It was a little strange at first with the mango added, as you can clearly taste the mojito behind the recipe, but I eventually got used to it as I was drinking it. As for the beef lettuce wraps, the meat was marinated well and was tender and easy to eat--so pretty much the most you can ask for with an item like this. So if you're staying at the hotel, not a bad place to grab a drink and appetizer, but not something I would necessarily go out of my way for. read more

Wandering around Waikiki and started to feel hungry so I Yelped the area and found this Splash Bar. Noticed they gave Kamaaina discount so decided to give it a try. I was greeted by a friendly lady who introduced herself as Capi. I always ask for recommendations and she raved about the coconut shrimp and said it paired nicely with the Longboard beer. I wanted a salad as well so she told me her favorite was the caesar salad. I took all her recommendations and went with it. I wasnt disappointed. While the caesar salad was nothing special, but it was perfect. The coconut shrimp was juicy and amazing. And can't go wrong with a longboard beer. Capi checked on me throughout the time I was there, always making sure I was hydrated (love beer!) The ambiance is chill and great, live music too! Splash is a very cute name for a poolside bar. And I'm kind of a sucker for a gimmick like that so even though Splash was a hotel restaurant I went ahead and ate there one day. The other gimmick in question was a create your own bento box - you could choose a certain number of items from a list for a certain price. I went with tuna tartare, edamame, tofu, and rice. While none of it was bad, none of it was really memorable. And even with the "lunch pricing" it was still fairly expensive so I wouldn't eat there again. The highlight of the meal though was a fruit smoothie - it tasted very fresh and came all decked out with the fresh fruit on the rim and umbrella in the straw so I got a glimpse of that vacation feel I had been seeing tourists enjoy around me all day. Personally, I was not very impressed with this bar. Luckily the things that bothered me could be easily fixed with some new staff. The bar itself has a nice look to it. There is an actual bar you can sit at, plus tables throughout the lounge/pool area. I originally came in to use one of my free drink coupons. When I first walked up to the bar I was pretty much ignored. The bartender was too busy making drinks and chatting with the servers. I finally was able to ask one of them what the free drink was and they said a Bay Breeze. (Vodka, cranberry, pineapple.) You could also just get juice. Instead of asking me if that's what I wanted and getting it for me, after answering my question the bartender went back to her drink making and server-chatting. After several more minutes of this I started to feel stupid just standing there and just went somewhere else for dinner and drinks. I suspect I may have been treated this way because on the free drink voucher it says the free drink includes gratuity. Being a non-cheapskate, I still would have tipped, but I guess the bartender didn't know that. After reading the reviews for the restaurant I think it's a good thing I went elsewhere! I ended up using one of my drink vouchers the following day at the pool. The Bay Breeze was much better than a mainland Bay Breeze thanks to the fresh Hawaiian pineapple. I contemplated trying this place again for dinner the 2nd night but got scared off by the other yelp reviews. Instead I went to The Beach Bar across the street at the Moana Surfrider, which was a great choice! This place has potential, but the rude bartender really turned me off to this place. I did eventually get my free drinks (and tipped!), but did not spend any additional money here which is a missed opportunity for them. read more

There are a lot of bars in the hotels here worth driving to Waikiki for. They are mainstays in their own right. This bar is the bar you go to when you can't sleep or you are fighting with your significant other on, you know (sexy time), or you're busy accidentally stalking your ex as she dates the rude British rockstar in the villa next door to you. The bartenders seem to have a different idea on the complimentary drinks. Our bartender obligingly handed us our signature drink, but the next bartender refused to add alcohol to our colleague's drink, explaining it cost extra. I handed him my complimentary mai tai out of sympathy (he wasn't having the greatest of nights) The bar is small, quiet, without much for nighttime entertainment, despite the available stage. Since many hotel rooms overlook the pool, I'm sure noise is an issue to keep this bar from becoming more of a hot spot, but it's there. Sometimes, you just need a drink. Who knows, you might meet a concierge who will easily help you forget your British rocker loving ex. read more

They had guy playing Hawaiian music while the women hula danced on the dance floor. My wife finally got the nerve to go up while the other ladies taught her to hula dance. The "small plates" are pretty large and the ambiance is chill and relaxing. I'm impressed by this little "secret" spot that I - as a local- usually walk right past. Def sitting on the lawn chair, relaxed and listening to the live band, gave me the full feeling that I am on vacation and " I AM IN HAWAII" My friend ordered the pull pork sandwich. After being in hawaii for a week, I couldn't eat or look at pull pork anymore, even LAU LAUS. BARF! But he stated it was good. Giving this restaurant 4 stars because it was a go to spot on our week long vacation. It's tucked into the Sheraton pool area so it's a bit quieter and removed from the Waikiki strip. There was never a line and the service was mostly really great. My husband and his friend raved about the flavor of the garlic chicken wings enough that we went back to get them three or four times. The only problem was that he didn't like drumsticks and the restaurant refused to give more wings than drumsticks.... Per the waiter, they were "premixed and the cooks don't have time to separate them" for us. It was a big shame, after asking them for more wings, to realize that we were served like 8 drumsticks and 1 wing. If his friend wasn't there to eat the rest, all 8 drumsticks would have gone to waste. For calling them chicken wings on the menu, you'd think they'd give more wings than drumsticks. Aside from this, my only other complaint was the pricing. I ordered the beyond burger every time (as I am vegetarian) and was almost sickened to be paying $26.00 for the burger. I know it was in a prime location, but $26.00 for a veggie burger is steep when the exact same burger plus fries and a salad at the yard house down the road was $17 or $18. Overall, I would go back here if we return to Waikiki. read more

Waikiki Beach, what can I say. Not a lot unfortunately. On a Thursday night, I was actually more scared walking on the strip than when I had to get my car out of towing from the 'other side' of Chinatown... This little slice of bar heaven is ok, however, because of its service, Aloha appeal and cheap appetizers. Wonderful thing about Hawaii is no matter how commercial and cheesy it gets, you can still feel the true Hawaii spirit. IF a place can ruin that, then they get less than three stars :) I did happen to try a frozen drink. Even though, the mix drinks were strong, I still chose to share a Blue Hawaiian with the wifey. Not a huge fan of that drink, come to find out, but the make up looked well done. Again, friendly staff and quick service was excellent! read more
