Moon dance & Here comes the Sun. You gotta try. Definitely worth the stop and happy hour is a good deal!

Stopped for a happy hour drink. Cute hidden spot with great happy hour drinks! Friendly bar tender.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!! Let's start with the food because it deserves every bit of the hype. Every single thing we ordered was incredible, but if I had to pick favorites, the lumpia, Devils on Horseback, and the Naked Pig pizza are absolute must orders. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, packed with flavor, and leaves you ordering multiple rounds of food! The cocktails are just as impressive. Each one is beautifully crafted with incredible attention to detail, and not a single drink has disappointed. Whether you love a dirty martini or want to try a twist on a tropical favorite, you really can't go wrong. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. Every member of the staff is warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They make you feel less like a customer and more like a regular they've known for years. Service is seamless, with drinks and food arriving at just the right pace without ever feeling rushed or forgotten. The ambiance perfectly captures a Hawaii restaurant without leaning into the usual tourist clichés. It's stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly inviting. The wallpaper is my favorite This is the kind of restaurant that feels like a hidden local gem but welcomes visitors with open arms. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal, exceptional cocktails, and hospitality that makes you want to come back again and again, don't skip this place. You won't be disappointed. This was my second time in two months going to M&S for happy hour and music. I got it right this time ordering a double cocktail and a veggie pizza, it's the way to go. To do happy hour right, arrive before 5:30pm, step up to the bar and tell one of the bartenders what you want. If it's busy, be patient. The guys are all hardworking and fast. Take your drink to your seat and they'll bring your food. It's efficient. This is a good place to go, the drinks and food are good and fresh, the setting is chill, the live music is excellent.

If you're looking for one of Waikiki's best hidden gems, Mahina & Sun's inside the Surfjack Hotel delivers a happy hour that's both stylish and approachable. The atmosphere is laid-back yet vibrant -- their breezy lanai lounge (The Cove) makes the perfect backdrop to sip and snack while soaking in Waikiki's sunshine. Service here is warm and attentive without being overbearing, and you can tell the staff really wants you to feel like a regular. What stood out most to me was the combination of quality and value during happy hour: * Fresh "2 Buck Shuck" oysters -- clean, briny, and perfect with a squeeze of lemon * House bubbles and prosecco ($8-$10) that felt like a steal in Waikiki * $5 Maui Brewing Co. cans or grab a bucket to share with friends * A flight of their signature dirty martinis ($24) -- balanced and strong, exactly what you want from a classic cocktail * And the "Royals," which they proudly call the coldest martinis in Hawai'i ($28) It's the kind of place where you can come straight from the beach, meet friends after work, or ease into a Waikiki night out. Between the retro Surfjack vibe, approachable pricing, and quality food & drinks, this is easily a go-to happy hour in Honolulu. -- Atmosphere, service, and flavors that deliver on all fronts. Bonus tip: they have free live music during most of the weekdays... Friday's musician was my favorite

We had a large group and had the family menu, which was great. The fried whole fish was crunchy and the veg sides were fresh and interesting. I'd recomend beers and well drinks. We tried a variety of their cocktail menu drinks which were fine, but basic drinks would be a better choice imho.

We stumbled upon this local hidden gem while on vacation in Waikiki recently and loved it so much, we actually went back two nights in a row ! We were staying at a hotel a block away and decided to explore . The bright pink neon sign was super inviting so we just walked right in . The sweet hostess checked us In and asked if we wanted a table to which we opted to just hang at the bar . The first night our bartender was this very tall man who was soo awesome . Im upset I didn't get his name, but he made us some bomb drinks and gave us some great recommendations to other bars around town with a similar vibe . The next night our bartender was Nini, who was equally as awesome ! We got different drinks this night along with some lumpia as a quick bite to eat . Overall, Mahina and Suns is a solid ! All the drinks we had were great, the lumpia was crispy and delicious, and the vibes were chill just how we like ! I totally would recommend this bar to people who want to just lay low in a cute environment and I would totally come back next time ! I need to try out their dinner menu !

I came here for a TimeLeft dinner and had a great time. The restaurant is inside of a hotel pool area which I was skeptical of. But the vibe inside is really cute, the host was very sweet! I was the first to get there and was quickly brought a few carafes of water. Then the next person showed up for the dinner, our waitress came by and took away the waters for some reason. Our table was arriving on Hawaiian time, so we didn't really even order drinks until 7:30. We were there for dinner and the menu looked great. I had the seared ahi which was great - big portion, had to take home half of it. The entrees in my opinion are a little overpriced, but what else do you expect in Waikiki. Truthfully wish we came for happy hour because that menu looks so good! Everything was great - the only thing I'd note (though I do understand our table was taking our sweet time)..was that our waitress just seemed very annoyed with us. People were asking her for suggestions or to help them make a decision between two things and she literally said "I'd honestly just suggest the whole menu to you because I don't know you or what you like" which yes, I mean valid - but clearly they mean what's the more popular choice, etc and you should be prepared as a server to have a few recommendations up your sleeve. A few of us tried to pay our bill with cash but apparently they are a cashless restaurant.

Great happy hour in Waikiki! Came here on a date night-- it was far more casual than we expected. Poolside bar, not too much of a dine-in restaurant vibe. They did have a good happy hour though, we enjoyed the $8 cocktails! We tried "here comes the sun", and loved the Lilikoi/cinnamon combo. Their Paloma was also great! The happy hour veggie pizza was $15, and pretty good! We liked the arugula, but wished there were more veggies on there. The olives were a bit salty for our taste. Avocado tacos were a hit though! I've never tried fried avocados before, and it was amazing in the corn tortilla. I'd recommend for a quick bite, especially if you're already staying in the area/hotel.

Easily now one of my favorite restaurants. Opened by Ed Kenney, of Mud Hen Water in Kaimuki, this new-er restaurant in the Skipjack Hotel in Waikiki, and much like his other restaurants, uses locally sourced ingredients and foods. And it's important to note, if you love Hawai'i then these are the kinds of restaurants we should be supporting because a sustainable future requires all of us to rely less on things coming in through Matson and Pasha containers. Anyway, this restaurant is romantic, especially if you get a booth, make a reservation in advance. Not a lot of seats, but there's also seating near the pool. Lunch time you order from the bar and it's mostly American like cuisine but the real reason to visit is for the creative dinner options. I highly recommend the oysters, they're huge and the sauce is perfect AND the uala and kalo, I don't know what's in the sauce but it has the right amount of olio and spice. We got the family meal with the fish of the day. Fried perfectly but we were a little confused in the end when we realized that we paid $35 per person for the preset meal AND the market value for the fish. So our amazing dinner was almost a hundred dollars more than we originally planned. Good thing we don't go out on date nights very often. We'd still return. It was really that good. We just might pass on the fish next time.

Over pretty great! The good and service were good, live music by the pool was nice. Would recommend!

    Tom T.

My family is the biggest Obama fan so we couldn't have passed up the opportunity to dine at Mahina & Sun's during our stay at the Surfjack. Everything was delicious. We especially liked the fresh tuna and octopus dishes. My dad ordered the barrel aged Negroni drink which allegedly was what Obama had. We really enjoyed the vibe here. Not only did we get to dine at the convenience of the hotel lobby, they also had rotating artists performing music everyday. The wait staff were super friendly. Hotel guests get 15% off the total bill. In addition if you book your stay at the right time, you could also get $100 restaurant credit with 5+ nights of stay!

Food is yummy here! Total hidden gem for pupus and drinks in the Surfjack hotel. We ordered their veggie pizza, pork spring rolls, pork tacos, and banana bread. My faves were the pizza and banana bread. If you sit at the bar you can order off their bar menu. They also have a happy hr menu too.

Limited but tasty menu. Servers polite and helpful. Numerous hand crafted cocktails with very creative mixologists. Family feast for dinner is memorable experience with whole fish deep fried but still succulent when eating.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

Like literally cold to the touch. The mashed potatoes were warm and those were great as well as the veggies . I didn't complain because nobody ever came back to check us on or offer a refill or anything . To pay was a hassle also as they only had 1 server helping and he was tied up with a big table for over 20 minutes that was arguing how to split up a bill. I eventually flagged down a bartender and she went and grabbed my original server from the back. The whole night things kept going wrong . That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

Apparently you're normally supposed to put a coin in to open the secret door, but it's broken right now, so the whole vending machine just swings right open. Slightly less secret, but still very cool. Inside is where this place really shines. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

This spot is the place to be in Waikiki! Definitely make a reservation because this place fills up…read morefast, especially later into the night. What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
