As many other reviews have stated, this place is an overpriced dump run by people who lack the means and will to maintain it as a safe (let alone pleasant) place to visit. We stayed at the "Lodge" building because my father-in-law had a timeshare in a separate building at the other end of the property. The Lodge is definitely dated (lots of signs for the pay phones!), with minor cheap little updates like the odd common room / dining area. Our room had been recently "updated" with vinyle roll flooring and a giant ugly painting hung on the wall. The windows lacked any mechanism to open or close them, and were stuck partly open, allowing water to pool on the sill during a gentle rain. The AC was inadequate. The bathroom was oddly laid-out and had had a recent "renovation" that was poorly done. The toilet had a flush valve on top of the tank, but a counter above that that forced you to snake your hand into a small slot to make a flush, nearly impossible while actually seated on the commode. Everything smelled. Cleaning was inadequate. The indoor pool was closed and outdoor swimming was closed for unstated reasons, presumably having to do with the frighteningly-colored water. The entire building lacked in maintenance, from the restaurant vents dripping stalagmites of grease to clapboards simply falling off. The timeshare was only mildly better, probably because it is newer and has had less time to decay in the absence of any kind of upkeep. Wallpaper was peeling, the sofabed had been torn to near-uselessness, all of the appliances malfunctioned in significant ways (refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher) and everything was simply shabby. There was a missing smoke detector - the base was there but the detector itself was gone. The smell of the building changed day-to-day, but it was always unpleasant. The main "town center" building was almost as bad. The indoor pool, while large, was poorly maintained with dirt or mold everywhere, poor lighting, and litter scattered about with wild abandon. The movie theater seats were peeling and many were broken. The grounds are barely cared for - potholes in the roads, tall grass in the sidewalks. Nothing about this place is nice or cared for except for the "Hub" store which sells expensive groceries and knicknacks. That at least is clean. Everything about this place is shabby. If I thought the owners cared at all about the guest experience, I would say they should be ashamed. Clearly, however, they don't care. This place is a dump, a train wreck, a dumpster fire. I canceled the room according to their policy and requested a refund. I heard for several months that they were processing and checks would be going out in a few weeks. worst experience I've ever had in my life with a hotel. I booked one room online, when I got there they said I booked two rooms and insisted I give them my credit card to charge for the second room. Rooms smelled bad, curtains couldn't be closed, toliet didn't flush right then completely stopped working, shower had to be on close to five minutes before water was no longer muddy, long hallways from room to front of hotel, no ice machines worked, no trash cans in room, no coffee maker, the Monday thru Thursday buffet wasn't open because there weren't enough people. read more

The resort is clean. The rooms are nice but a bit 80's retro. We had a two bedroom unit in Galleria... which is Town Center. No one answers the phones when you call the front desk. The WiFi is horrible!!!!! I mean completely horrible! And there is no cell service in the rooms. Also the laundry they claim there is laundry on the first floor of this building. The paperwork I was sent said there was but when I got here I had to drive quite a bit to Willowbrook to do laundry. There are two washers and two dryers, you must have quarters as there is no where to get change. None of the restaurants in the Galleria are open except the "food court". Their food is mediocre at best. The fans in both of our bathrooms were broken so we opened the windows to get fresh air... problem is you can't keep them open at night because the employees are making all kinds of noise in the parking lot. There is no handicapped parking so you must use the steps coming in and out of the building. read more

Wow I can't belive all the bad reviews I was reading before we came, they all made me sick and terrified! We got here at 1pm just to look around the place and make sure they had our room, then they called us 2 hours early and let us go in our room, the room was amazing it was so clean! Everything worked and we had an amazing view. The arcade and bowling was open. We were upset because the gym wasn't open yet but we took a peak and it will be such a nice gym! we also couldn't walk up the split rock stairs because it was too icy, and the hot tub was closed but it was ok because we had a nice jacuzzi in our room that fit us both comfortably! we went for a look into kalahari, and that place was way too busy and expensive. I'd give it 3.5 stars. We rented the cottage by the wine festival and the accommodations although outdated, were good. The floor to ceiling fireplace was really cool and the beams gave a great rustic feel. Bed was comfy and the bathroom, again very outdated was clean. It can not get any worse! Four of us traded for a one week stay at this resort by way of Interval International. The downhill slide started when we checked in and was charged a "resort fee" that is not found on their website nor Interval's statement of conditions. They emphasized that the $371 fee was not an "amenities fee" even though it is directly tied to four of the resorts seven amenities, none of which we were interested in using, but regardless the charge stands. The condition of this facility is worse than "dated", there were maintenance problems everywhere both in our room and in public areas. Repeated attempts to contact management went unanswered. Bottom-line all of the problems we encountered appeared to reflect inept management. We have been trading to different timeshares every year since 1994 and this trade was by far the worst. Terrible terrible terrible! My family and I arrived late on a Friday night with plans to stay until the following Friday. It was our first time visiting Split Rock Resort. I honestly don't know what we were thinking. When we arrived, we found the facility to be dangerous, dirty and generally undesirable. We were quite nauseated by what we found, and quickly decided to cut our visit short. We checked out before 11:00am on Sunday, March 19th, five nights earlier than planned. I don't know how we lasted even two night. Stayed for the wine fest at the lodge. Gives off some shining vibes, dark hallways, no elevator which made it hard for my girlfriend to get around while she was nursing a hurt ankle. Tried to get food at the lodge. First place was completely dark. Then we tried the thirsty moose saloon. When we walked in it was completely empty and not open, even though the sign said it was. The only thing being used was the sandbar which had about 150 frat kids from out of state around a 5x5 bar. Also had to check in in the "town center" and then drive back to the lodge to out room where no staff was there to direct or help with finding out room. Called the number they gave us to ask them for soap because we barely had any and was never brought anything. Overall a pretty negative experience and not sure if we'd be coming back. Our stay lasted from Friday to Sunday. We stayed in Willowbrook building 5 which should've been nice and quiet. The location was nice and secluded but somewhat inconvenient so far away from town center. We drove 2.5 hrs to come to the Poconos and were disappointed that we still had to drive everywhere once we got there. The walls were so thin that we heard every single person coming in and out and having a conversation ALL night. The first night someone knocked on our window in the middle of the night and when i looked out there were a few young teenagers running around in the back. Not management's fault, I know, but still annoying considering it was like 2 am. When we first got into the room, we noticed there were so many light switches, most of which did nothing. The kitchen sink had been repaired with duct tape. The closet door was broken off the track. The dining room chairs were ALL stained and there was dried nail polish on the table. The couch and chair in the living room were also stained beyond repair and smelled absolutely disgusting. The wallpaper in the living room was peeling in spots. The air conditioner in the bedroom was so dirty and dusty that it was spewing out clumps of black dust. Or dirt, I'm not sure which. We went out Saturday morning and when we got back, we were locked out of our room which was super inconvenient. They were nice enough to actually send someone over with a new set of keys. Saturday night we discovered the jacuzzi tub in our bathroom did not work and when we called maintenance he said he needed to replace a few parts. It wasn't terribly late but late enough that we didn't want to be listening to repairs while we're getting ready for bed. I'm not a specialist in repairs but I'm pretty sure that should be checked before a guest checks in. There were water stains all over the bathroom ceiling as well. On the way out, i made the mistake of looking under the bed skirt to see if anything got kicked under and i found a condom wrapper, a hair tie that was left and clumps of miscellaneous hair. "Upgraded" from a main hotel room to Willowbrook to get a kitchen and living room over Christmas. The room interiors are dated to say the least, the pull out couch not comfortable neither to sit nor sleep. We called for bedding for the couch and two hours later had to call again because it never came. Cleanliness was to be desired, every cabinet you touched had jam or something sticky globed on the edges as you opened the doors. We found a roll of bubble gum that expired four months prior, a random Shoe under the couch and bag of ritz crackers in a cabinet. The kitchen supplies were almost non existent, the dishwasher knowingly didn't work but they left us dishwasher pods but nothing else to clean the dishes, I asked for a scrubbie pad after the cleaning staff said our dishwasher motor was bad and he handed me more dishwasher pods. We had pre booked dinner at the Bistro for $50 a person for Xmas assuming it would be booked, we were one of three families in there, we didn't need a reservation and the food left a lot to be desired, all the desserts were dried up, and the food choices didn't reflect the price. We utilized the water park and I will at least give them credit that they will provide a shuttle from Willowbrook to the main building but I called twice to ask what time it closed and they told us 8pm, so I dragged three little kids over for 5pm, aside from the water being freezing and too cold for them we were kicked out within thirty minutes for a private group they booked from 6-8pm who they started to heat the water for as we were leaving. The lifeguard spent more time socializing than paying attention, when my three year old yelled for help in front of where on stood, they didn't even hear as they were chatting with some guy, I was there with her but that's not the point, it made more worried for the parents who sent their kids there by themselves. The female manager also walked into the mens changing room on my husband, brother and son. What a total waste of the $40pp that it was. The morning we were checking out my husband went to get the car and came back to find that the key cards did work, they deactivated our key cards 5hrs at least prior to check out. I was appreciative of an upgrade because we were meeting my mom halfway for the holidays and wanted more space than a standard hotel room, but we traveled out in weather than kept most people home and left them with lots of cancellations. I booked a week starting Friday, September 27th and left a few days early. The place is very dated. The only elevator, sauna, the baby pool in the indoor water park, ice machine & quite a few video games were all down. We also had fruit flies in our 2 bedroom as someone left an orange under the couch rotting which wasn't found by house keeping. The indoor waterpark is probably best for kids 10 & under but you can see nasty water stains that look like rust in the water slides. My granddaughter also got her knee scraped up on a baby slide the staff seemed to be aware of as a problem. I thought I got a great deal for $350 but it wasn't worth it. read more

I have now come to this as my final resort. I have emailed 2x with no response at all and I have also put a review on booking.com. Which I didn't get the room that was reserved but as long as it had 2 beds and a kitchenette was all I needed. But this was very disturbing and I don't like even complain but not even a response back from the resort with even an apology. I had recently stayed there for the Split Rock wine festival on JUne 19 until June 20th and it was just awful. First the room was not up to code at all and was a fire hazard and quite frankly not ready to be available for anyone, and after taking forever to check in, and witnessing many others complaining about the not getting the room there were suppose to and stuff. I had never expected this. The first thing when I walked into the room, there was an expired fire extinguisher sitting on the floor. When we turned the corner the vent hood for the stove was sitting on the floor in front of a brand new stove which wasn't even hooked up for use. The dishwasher was the same thing, it was just shoved in the spot under the sink and not hooked up and parts where still inside. The wires for the hood vent were sticking out of the wall under the microwave along with the outlet and switch next to the coffee maker, which not even sure it was hooked up for power. The space where an old light fixture in the ceiling was covered up with a cloth and wires sticking out of it. The headboards had outlets built into them, but we couldn't use them because there was no power to them at all. The bathroom was newly renovated and the toilet paper was just sitting on the back of the toilet with not a spare roll nor where there towels, we had to go looking for them. read more

I wish I would've read yelp reviews before making my reservation. My wife and I are staying at "The Lodge" at Split Rock". I did make our reservations around 4 pm the day before we arrived over the phone. I was never told that "The Lodge" is about 1.5-2 miles from the main lodge where all of the activities are. They do have a shuttle to take you back and forth. But after after the pool or the water park you have to get fully dressed to go back to your room especially when it's cold out as opposed to walking to your room. Speaking of being cold, it is freezing as you walk through the main building and where our room is. The water park is at the right temperature. People walking around with bathing suits and winter coats. I went to buy a bottle of water and the 1 vending machine in this building is out of order. Also, there are no self service laundry machines in this building. The water park itself is smaller then any other indoor water park I have been to. Three tube rides. The whirlpool in the water park was out of order. I have stayed at 5 star hotels/resorts and 2 star hotels. I have never seen a room without a safe to secure your valuables while you are out of the room. There is not much to do here, we were told it's because it's off season. We have stayed at other indoor water parks in February and everything was fully operational. There is no one at the front desk at "The Lodge at 10 pm. When does that person leave or when does someone return I have no idea. You have to call the front desk at the main building. WiFi signal is horrible. Takes forever to get connected. And if you do connect.... work fast, you will get kicked off shortly. I never sleep well in hotels and I usually walk all around during the night. First time it felt creepy walking around. There wasn't a soul around. Good points Immaculately clean. Everyone is really nice. Dinner was really good. Room promised for 4 pm, got a phone call around 2:55 that the room was ready. Overall I would not recommend this resort. Very expensive for what they have compared to other places. read more

I recently stayed at this resort for a conference. The staff were really nice and accommodating. Things were a bit outdated. But I was really happy with the size of my room for the low price. For a large size resort, I found it challenging to find my room a couple of times during my three night stay; because everything looks exactly the same on each floor. The signage isn't easy to follow either; especially to find the game room and other areas. I even bumped into a woman on the elevator looking for her room on the 4th floor, and the elevator on the main entrance only goes to 3. So she had no idea where to go. For being in the off season, there were plenty of things to do. It was really easy to get around the resort property to get to some of the local restaurants. And the staff at those local restaurants were great. I will probably give this resort another try, but I hope they make the resort a little easier to navigate by then. read more

At first we, were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful houses and views on the main road into the resort. A winter wonderland of sorts with snow capped houses overlooking a partially frozen lake. Then reality set in when we had to pay a $1 toll just get to stay at this "fine" (insert the thickest sarcasm here) resort. After the toll we saw several blocks of townhouses and condominiums, we thought we were surely staying there being that there was five of us and Interval International (timeshare company has been fairly good to us over the years). Nope! Our final destination was the Galleria, or the Gonorrhea as we referred to it, as it is almost certain, by the looks of things, that you would get some sort of disease staying there. A fully packed parking lot that had not be properly cleared of snow awaited us. There was four adults and an infant. Guess what? You have to go up stairs to even get into this dump, and there is not one automatic door. It's like they despise handicapped people or even better yet, building a semi-functional water-park supersedes basic amenities that ALL resorts should have. Not even a hotel employee to hold the door for you as you enter with a weeks worth of luggage and a baby. What you do get is a bunch of people smoking in front of the entry-door that would rather stare at you with their dead eyes then hold a door for you. We get to the elevator to take us to our second floor suite. The elevator smelled of some sort of toxic fume. I image it would be similar to what the Exxon Valdez disaster clean-up smelled like. In front of our room was a large ball room of sorts that a local company was holding their annual drunk-fest, er, I mean post-Christmas, Christmas party. This was very charming at around 2:30 am when attendants of the party decided to fight in front of our room. Was there any staff to break-up the unruliness? Nope. This is a perfect time to discuss our room. We stayed in a suite with two rooms, both of which were supposed to have King sized beds (they didn't) a Jacuzzi tub (it didn't). The furniture was dated and uncomfortable, the television was from the set of ALF; I believe. The floor, or carpet, or whatever it is was absolutely gross. There was a zero-second rule for that floor. The room was a non-smoking suite, but it smelled of stale Winston's, bleach and regret. Kind of what a strip club smells like. The heat did not work in our room at all. Awesome when you have a 6 month old baby in the room. Call maintenance you say? Yeah good luck with that, you get an excuse followed-up with a promise to make it right. They didn't...... One night we decided to go bowling. This is nice that they have the facility, but let's get one thing straight it is expensive. You'd think that for staying at this Hostage House that they would cut you a break. Nope. $7.00 a person per game. It was $28 for four of us. I am surprised that they did not charge my infant daughter. The floor of the alley is aluminium and very slick. It is impossible to have a decent game there. I mean, I am not saying I am Roy Munsen or anything, but let's at least give the illusion of bowling shall we? There is a billiard hall with ping pong and shuffle board. You have to pay to play on the defunct tables. $5.00 for an hour. Not too expensive, but still you have to pay when you are already paying to stay there? It just seems like Split Rock is on a mission to get every dime they can out of you. There is a restaurant, but I don't think it is ever open, so I can't say anything about it. There is a pizzeria that opens at 11 am. The pizza is ok. Nothing great, but it's pizza. The kicker is they have a Starbucks in there. However, they do not open till 11 am, so if you want coffee from Starbucks you're going to have to sleep in a bit. I am saving the best for last. The pool. The over-chlorinated, slick bottomed, cold, dingy pool. I got in for about three minutes and got out before my skin rotted off. It lies dead smack in the middle of the "resort" for all eyes to see. It just seems like it is oddly placed for its purpose. My eyes were burning before I could escape the pool room. If ever there should be an EPA Superfund site, the pool at the Galleria should top the list. For the people that actually gave this place a decent review, may I offer you a Timeshare in Fallujah? Or will you at least tell me you just got out of prison? We had our unit from Saturday to Saturday, but unanimously agreed to leave Wednesday morning. There were quite a few things about this trip that I was bad enough for me to complain to hotel staff. Which I did, with little satisfaction. We stayed in the Galleria. For starters the elevator was broken when we checked-in so we had to carry all of our luggage to the third floor. Check-in or any other front desk activity was a wait all three times we went there. Always a big line. The room was mostly OK. Very dated. However we stayed in a VIP suite and the bathrooms were so small you could barely maneuver past the door. People like big bathrooms. These were laughable. The indoor pool was deplorably filthy. It was full of hair and the hot tub was out of order. Everywhere we looked trashcans were overflowing to the floor with trash, pizza boxes and food. On the second day after returning from the water park our room keys had been deactivated. Even though we were staying another night. In addition, even though we had place the hang tag our room was not cleaned. We had to wait an hour for staff to clean and replenish towels while we sat wet and cold in the hallway. The biggest complaint was the jacuzzi tub in my "VIP" suite. A water pipe had just burst 4 days before and the water was brown and opaque. I paid extra for that unusable feature of the suite. After speaking to a "manager" (who was only the manager of "entertainment") we were offered only excuses and a free dinner in the resort. Which is the equivalent of bad buffet food. Which I declined. I should mention between my wife and I we waited over 30 minutes to speak with this manager because she was already dealing with another guest complaint. Also I suggest not going in the off-season. We went on Easter weekend and finding places that were open to eat was difficult. Most places were closed on Sunday or closed very early. To summarize I would give this place 1-star but my kids had a lot of fun at the attached water park. Absolutely my worst travel experience in my 40+ life. Rooms are so old, dusty and dirty that they are downright disgusting. I purchased Groupon which show decent pictures and choice of 3 complex to choose from-Willowbrook, Galleria and interior. Even though I requested Willowbrook the day I booked on Groupon that was 3 weeks ago, they had been denying giving us the room and eventually put us in Villa where nightmare began. When we tried to appeal what Groupon deal was about, the rude old lady at the front deak a lot of nerve to told my wife that she can either take it or leave. ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME? When people book their hotel, people have not much info but measure it by provided pictures and description that both Split Rock failed to accommodate. Since Split Rock has no intention to remedy this, I will have to contact Groupon and see what they have to say. I have only two words: bed bug. We complained to the hotel staff but they do not seem to care. They sent housekeeping to "investigate." Update (morning after returning from Split Rock): Someone has stolen all the caps off our tires. I don't mind the out-datedness of the rooms, or the groupon deals that may have brought in new customers, but this is really crass. This has never happened on any of our other road trips. It could have happened at the parking lot other than the "resort" but we only stopped for lunch at a local pub before we hit the road and headed straight back home. This stems from the same mentality as the older kids who were jumping into the pool regardless of babies and toddlers floating close by. The bed bugs can be managed by a competent exterminator, but you can't change the people. If you bring customers, at least increase your staff to manage them properly and keep an eye on the cars and people's belongings with security guards and cameras. read more

The most ghetto place in town! After being frequent guests of Great Wolf Lodge we decided to give this place a try. Wrong idea! First when we are arrived we had to pay a $1.00 toll to enter the area? Then we arrived at the hotel and found out they are in the middle of renovations ( greatly needed!). We had to walk across the whole place to find the place to check in. The Galleria or main building is very dingy and old. Place looks and feels like a dump. Not to mention the old guy employer who came to bring the keys to the front desk clerk smelled like alcohol. Then we decided to go to the Pizzeria for a bite. Bad idea! I waited more than 45 minutes for a tossed salad with chicken. It was so "fun" watching the guy in front of me verbally fighting with the cook (who came out of the kitchen for the event) after he waited forever for the order. He finally got his money back. The place didn't even have napkins! This place can't even compare to the cleanliness and professionalism of Great Wolf Lodge and this will be the first and last time we ever place foot in this dump! read more

This resort was a total disappointment. We booked it through our timeshare as a promotion so we did not shop around at other resorts in the area. I would hope it is clear that you should NOT stay here. Terribly outdated to the point of being unsafe. The fire alarm went off 3 separate times on our floor due to the cooking equiptment in the units not having enough ventilation. Once was our own fault, pretty embarrassed when the fire chief arrived. It was disturbing having the alarm go off at all different times (someone was cooking at midnight and set it off), what if it really had been a fire? Everytime it went off we would have to gather our things and shuffle out of the room to make sure. There was only ONE single elevator for the entire hotel and the staff used it for their cleaning runs as well. The elevator itself was unreliable, the door wouldn't open and shut properly. The electric stove top had not been put back together properly by the cleaning staff. The maintenance staff was very quick and efficient with fixing it though and we were quickly back to cooking. The pool deck is extremely slippery. My mother slipped and fell coming from the pool to the hot tub. They have a one page waiver that they ask you to sign at the desk to use the pool. Huge red flag. This place is overpriced and poorly executed. Everything from the arcade, spa and restaurants are down right underwhelming. The schedules activities had a "Walking Tour to Split Rock". Our tour guide was less than enthused about having to take us and they scheduled it so late that we were walking back in the dark. Run. This resort is a blast from the past. read more

Very disappointed from booking, to my stay. They booked the wrong room for us at first and it was difficult to get fixed. When we get to check in, there were no carts available for my things so I had to try and drag my luggage while holding an infant. All of the activities that come free as a guest of the resort, are CLOSED with no mention of it on the website or at check in. They gave us bracelets and said to keep them on for all of the activities. Pool-closed Laser tag- closed Ice skating- closed Basketball courts- closed for storage When I asked to speak to a manager, they said there wasn't any and there was nobody they could get for me to talk to and said if I had a complaint, to go online. So here I am. Definitely not worth the money. The dirty dingy rooms with the peeling tubs and showers are bad enough, but none of the activities we wanted to do are open and our room is not where we want to be since that's pretty crappy as well. Definitely think twice if you're planning to book here, I'm sure there HAS to be much better places to choose from. Due to poor training, and problems between shifts it took the person working the front desk 2 hours to check in 4 guests. The bed was NOT a queen as advertised. Food from the snack bar was overpriced and below average. WIFI did not work. No room service, and on site restaurants don't deliver to rooms. Kitchen had some cooking utensils, pots pans, dishes, glasses, but no flatware, and no coffee maker. Every hotel I've ever been too had some kind of guide in the room, listing hotel amenities, local points of interest, phone numbers, etc. Not Split Rock, not even a channel listing for the TV. Walls were paper thin. Every staff member we came in contact with acted like they were new, or doing a job they don't normally do. read more

Absolutely horrible experience dated units, moldy smell, locks broken, water stained ceilings, peeling paint, leaking refrigerator, no service no matter how many times you called. Huge trash bin not secured bears in it daily unsafe to walk or park near. Absolutely no security in buildings someone could be robbed in hallways and no one would know or your room broken into. People riding bikes in hallways. Absolute worst experience. Would never ever come back. What a shame so much potential and this "resort" fell short in every area. The best thing about The Split Rock Hotel is it's close to Jack Frost Big Boulder. The hotel when I stayed there this past weekend, had absolutely miserable dining options. Fried food or fried food or soggy premade salad. The hotel room (Willowbrook) had majorly stained carpet, dining chairs, and sofa. The bath was large with jacuzzi tub and was very clean. The water park which is advertised as part of the hotel amenities comes with hefty prices and is really geared for youngsters not the 10 year old I was traveling with. The basketball court was used for storage so there was no where to play. The arcade was fun and there was a bowling alley but we did not take advantage of that. They take a $100 surcharge upon arrival but the hotel takes over a week to refund back to the credit card!! I mean what the heck is that! I would NOT return and do not suggest this is a good option for weekend escape. read more

I would give zero stars for this resort if I could. We reserved a 3 night stay in a suite with a king size bed at Willowbrook (for about $900). About 2 weeks before our arrival, we got an email from the property that they were overbooked at the Willowbrook and they offered us an upgrade and a chance to reschedule (no opportunity to cancel). It is important to note that the website for Split Rock, which makes the resort look wonderful, indicates that Willowbrook is the only part of the property that is finished being renovated and the website indicates that no other facilities are available for reservation because of the ongoing renovations. We accepted the upgrade they offered and checked in to the Town Center building on the day of our arrival. After checking in, we rode in the worst looking elevator I've ever seen in a hotel and walked about 15 minutes throughout the building to find our upgraded room which was in another wing of the building and not easy to find with paper signage on the walls that was not accurate. The upgraded room had two twin sized beds, a crappy little kitchen and a view of the dumpsters in the back. This was the upgrade!!! We went back to the front desk and nicely pointed out that we had reserved a king size bed. They told us that the Willowbrook, where we were originally supposed to stay, had timeshare owners coming in that weekend and we were very lucky that they had a king size bed in the Town Center building (which was absolutely huge so it was hard to believe that was the last king size bed). This room was easier to find but still really far away and still required a ride in the crappy elevator. Clearly, this building needed some work and the renovation was not done yet. While we had a king bed to sleep in, there were drain gnats flying around in the room all weekend and the shower was quite small. The beside tables had holes in them as if they were not done constructing them yet. The refrigerator had rust on the shelves inside and there was a crack in the mirror in the entry hallway that was covered with painter's tape. This was not an upgrade, it was a bait and switch. During the weekend we stayed, we learned that there was a Jewish conference happening on the resort and all the participants were staying at the Willowbrook. I could not believe they would not have known about this conference weeks ahead of time yet they still allowed us to reserve a room there as if it was available. To add insult to injury, none of the dining options at the resort were any good. One night, we tried to have dinner at the Lake View Tavern which recommended reservations on the website so I called and they said no reservations were taken and it was first come first served. We went to check it out and there was no one in the place at 7:30 pm except for the waitresses and the dinner buffet which we were not interested in. Then we went to Boulder View Tavern about 5 minutes away and it was packed with a waiting list (we ate dinner at WaWa instead). That tells you how good the Lake View Tavern is. The lake does not look very clean and I was afraid to think about swimming there. The outside pool has lounges but the chairs are visibly falling apart. The waterpark smelled like a baby pool (chlorine and pee). On the way out the day we left, we decided to drive by the Willowbrook to see what we missed out on. Interestingly, the Willowbrook's awning over the check in drive way was falling apart and we could see the insulation hanging down. On the balconies all over the Willowbrook building, we could see towels hanging to dry - it looked like the slums in Asia. We did not feel so bad after seeing that. We now think that the entire resort is the dumpiest thing we've ever seen and we could not believe how much money we paid to stay there. It was absolutely awful. Do NOT go there. read more

Came to split rock for a day trip with my husband and one year old. We had a fun day and found the resort to be clean and we'll staffed. My daughter is still a little young but will probably be able to enjoy the park more in a year or so. I didnt see too many teenagers there, more toddlers and grade school kids. My little one did play at the entrance to the wave pool and in the kiddy fountains. My husband and I were happy that everyone seemed to be mindful that smaller children were around. There was no running or horseplay at all! The park was a little expensive, but we saved a few bucks by booking online and using a coupon code. The locker facilities were soaking wet all day and we had a hard time finding a place to sit and eat our lunch as people tend to occupy their chairs with towels and bags instead of behinds. We expected that though. We did love that the lines weren't long for the water slides, the place wasn't packed to the brim even at capacity. We spent about 5 hours in the park, swimming, relaxing and lunching. We will probably come back in the future. read more

Well, where do I begin with this review! Ill begin by saying it is summer time and it was 89 degrees in my room! The AC was not flowing into the room I was staying at. The heat was on... and no way of turning that thing off! I was placed in a room near the elevator and you can hear everything and anything! Horrible, barely got rest! The bathrooms were gross, old and molded! The water park itself... save it. You are better off going to dorney park, six flags or even your backdoor pool! Some of the rides were out of commission and they handed people this dainty paper crappy "50 %" off throughout the year! Who is even coming back?! Lets be honest! Lets move on to the food, the restaurant there at the split rock.... the menu needs improvement! It needs options! Also there was one waitress, some asian guy.... he was nearly hovering over us to see if we finished. We were beginning our breakfast and 10 mins in slides the bill and says I'm not rushing you! Well can I finish eating before sliding the bill! Next, I went to the bar with my sister in law... we sat at the bar. The bar had about one thousand and one food flies on the fruits/lime and lemons! I ordered a corona and had to refrain from requesting limes! It was so gross and improperly taken care of! Second thing, this place needs cameras! They do! How you have a pool and do not have cameras! There is no lifeguard.... come on... cameras can save you guys from a lawsuit! Do I recommend this place? No... your kids deserve quality not some ugly motel fake experience! Save your money! I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here! My wife booked this trip without checking the reviews and boy did that come back to bite us. I hope that by reading this review it may save a headache for someone else. the day we checked in, we were about the third group in line for service, it took an hour for three people to check in the people in front of us and get to checking us in. during the check in I asked for an information packet (given at most resorts) expecting to see schedules, maps and suggestions for food, entertainment and information about the resort we were checking into. I was told that the new company had not printed them yet, I asked them if they just changed ownership and I was told last October. I asked them if they thought that 10 months was reasonable to expect an information packet and they looked at me and laughed (this becomes a common theme later). right at the end of check in, we were hit with a 360 $resort fee that we were unaware of (we booked through interval) and asked what that fee was for. (they didnt explain what it was for or why they were charging it) they said that interval should have told us about it and it should be on our confirmation. I explained that if I had been told or was aware that I would have to pay an additional 360 dollars on top of the 200 dollar exchange fee that I would not be checking into their resort. I then asked to speak to someone else; sent me down the hall to speak to a customer service rep (Joyce?) when I walked in and asked if I could speak to her she said come in, she had been turned away from the desk reading something on her phone, she continued to do this for several minutes not acknowledging me further until I said excuse me I need your attention on an issue. she turned in her chair with her eyes rolling and asked what I needed. I explained my issue and she said, you are being charged because you are in the galleria. I smiled and said no, I am staying at willowbrooke not at the galleria. she then looked at me and threw her hands up and said, then I cannot help you. at this point I was furious, I walked out and back up to the counter where my wife was. I spoke to Miriam who is the supervisor there at the counter and told her my Issue, she again said that interval notified me through the confirmation letter, I handed her the confirmation letter and told her that if she can show me where I was notified that I would have 178. charge per room resort fee, that I would shut up and pay it. she looked at the letter and confirmed it was not on the letter and then told the lady checking us in not to charge it. The lady (karen) explained that she had already charged us. I said no problem, just reverse it. Miriam and Karen said that no one on duty could reverse it and I would have to come back tomorrow morning at 10am with my credit card to be helped. the following morning i was standing at the counter to be helped and despite the fact that the people walking back and forth knew why I was there, no one asked me if they could help me. at about 1015 I said that I was going to start charging the resort for wasting my vacation time as I was told to be there at 10am. Jenene came out and introduced herself to me as the marketing director and I asked her if she was the person that I was directed to come see that morning. she said no, that she would be taking me back to see Joyce in customer service and at this point I began to get angry again. I told her what Joyce had done the night before and I would not be working with her, I also said I was told to come in this morning with my credit card to rectify the situation this morning because there was no one there last night that had the ability (authorization) to help me and now you are telling Joyce could have? Jenene did a great job in deescalating the situation because I was really hot. this situation was rectified by refunding half the fees (I wasnt satisfied with that but My wife wanted to get on with our vacation which is what I felt the resort was counting on) we were given two meal comps (buffet) for 4 people for our trouble. when we checked in to our room at willowbrooke building 6 rooms 6115 c and D we noticed that the trim on the building was rotting (should have been a clue I know). getting to the room it was outdated and ceiling had cracking and chipping where the wall met the ceiling. our toilet became clogged and we wanted to call the front desk. without an information packet we had no idea what the phone number was, so I was going to pick up the phone and dial 0 but the phones in our room did not work. the adjoining room (our guests) had a dial tone but could not get anyone at the desk to answer. it wasnt until we called from a cell phone (reservation line I believe) that anyone answered us. we were transferred and finally got to ask for a plunger. we were told one was on the way... an hour later when it did not arrive I found a housekeeper in a closet and asked for one. she gave me a plunger and a pl read more

I have been coming to this resort for years and every year it gets better. The activity staff is bar none. Very high energy and always willing to accommodate. I love attending this resort because the staff makes for a great get away! I have attended several resorts, but the activity staff at this establishment makes my vacation every year! This review is from my experience of attending a convention (SaikouCon) held here but not staying at the resort. First, this is a little further off the beaten path then maps show, but it's along all paved road. You can potentially miss the entrance to the resort building, but there are turnarounds. Parking is not an issue, with several paved and gravel lots. Split Rock Resort has several different entrances. The main entrance leads to the hotel, but the far side entrances lead to the larger multipurpose spaces. The interior of the resort is winding but not hard to navigate. Convention space is significant here, with its large multipurpose spaces. One is the traditional ballroom, while the other "trade show space" looks like a high schools auxiliary gym that's perfect for something like a dealer's room. Several breakout/smaller meeting rooms also exist, they were average. We ate at Galleria Grab n Go, the prices were fair for hotel food and the Cheesesteak I had was rather good. An arcade is also located on site; I would call it fair with a variety of ticket games, but no retro games. The onsite bowling alley and Movie Theater also looked fun, cool options for a place like this. Cellphone coverage inside the convention space portion was poor on at least AT&T and Verizon. Overall, Split Rock Resort was a good place to attend a convention even without staying onsite and access to the waterpark. read more

Small place, great for young kids. I would not recommend it if you or your party wants daring slides and adventure. Come early and sign waiver before you get in. It's best to purchase tickets ahead online. You may be able to search online for discount codes like we did. They have a locker rentals for all day. $6 for small lockers and $8 for large. This place has fees for everything you do, there is an upcharge to swim in the pool, 26.50/ for 4 people / day so this shouldnt even be an interval resort, I have never seen such foolishness in a resort, you have to buy bracelet to use anything here, so for four days if you have a family and they wanna swim it is 169.60 extra to do that or to do anything Keep looking, after paying exchange fees and resort fees you mize well find a much better place read more
