I was going to do a really detailed review of this place since I've eaten pretty much everything on the menu, but they seem to go out their way to ostracize their delivery customers so I'm done. The sandwiches are at best mediocre, the wings are always cooked to dry, salads are decent but higher end of average price, and the pizza really is great, but they constantly and randomly turn off delivery. Literally sat here waiting for 4pm, got my order in, $80 of pizza clicked complete order and it was rejected. This isn't even the first time it's happened. I also had an order get cancelled after GrubHub accepted it because they were closed despite being their normal hours and no indication of change anywhere on their website. I wish I could keep getting pizza from them but I'm not particularly mobile and rely on delivery and can't deal with the nonsense. If you're downtown stop by but if you're looking for delivery find another spot read more

Very accommodating for restricted diets (allergies, vegan, etc.). Was a 15-20 minute wait for a table, seemed a little short staffed (understandable). Indoor and outdoor seating available. My wife (dairy, soy, egg free diet due to breastfeeding our son) was able to choose from a couple options once talking to manager/chef. This wasn't my first time at the roost and won't be my last. I knew exactly what I wanted from the last time I was there. I got the roost special both times and was not disappointed one bit. The roost smoothers two buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy, hot cheddar sauce, fried chicken, and hash browns. The waitresses are very attentive and nice. The dishes also came out rather quickly. My wife and I were in town for a family event. We opted for a local eatery for breakfast versus the likes of iHop and boy were we happy! I had the "Tex" omlette, which included brisket and wow! I chose the hashbrowns as my side and they were also very tasty. My wife chose the standard 3 egg omlette with scratch biscuits and boy oh boy were they good! The butter they serve has some sort of apricot or fruit in it. I would never had tried this butter on my own, but found it to be very good. My only complaint was that the staff was a little slow on the coffee and I found myself sitting with an empty cup on two occasions. In addition, my wife was given a 1/2 cup because they ran out with the promise that they'd return with a fresh pot, but we had to ask. All in all, the food is fresh and good! Went in for pizza on lunch. They don't sell any kind of "by the slice" or even personal pizzas. I switch to a hoagie. I ask for Italian dressing- she said they don't have Italian. They don't have any kind of dressing actually. Nothing else looked good to me, so I said I no longer wanted to eat there, and started to leave. The waitress started freaking out- telling us that everywhere else would be closed because it's Monday. "Well I'm sorry I don't have Italian dressing!" she literally screamed on my way out. I was looking for a Brunch spot, as I hate getting up early and traveling for work makes things even more complicated. I headed to Yelp and looked for "Brunch". Boom. Roost shows up. I head there and find parking right out front (plus it's free on the weekends). Of Monster's and Mens' "Empire" playing when I walked in, so I already stoked about what was to come. I meet Sarah, who was a rockstar handling multiple tables, my random requests and other persnickety customers. She steered me to a clean table right by the window where I could relax and enjoy my food (and the view of passers-by). I had coffee and water, although they could lose the plastic cups for water (Save the Seas!!!). I ordered the Garbage Biscuit which was a proper mountain of food and effing delicious. It was steaming when it arrived which is always a plus to see . Overall, 5 out of 5. Keep up the great work gang and thanks for treating an out of towner like a local. read more

I've had Roost on my list for almost a year and finally made it there today. I met my sister for lunch and really enjoyed everything from the decor (funky, mis-matched wallpapers) to the service to the food. My sister ordered a mushroom omelette and the rocket salad and really liked it. I ordered the Cluck You chicken sandwich and it was fabulous. The sweet Thai sauce and the pimento cheese blended together perfectly for a very unique flavor. The french fries are also great. I think the food is okay, but the menu is very limited for someone with Celiac Disease or other inability to eat gluten. The waitress said that the menu changes a lot, so I understand why it's smaller. But most, if not all, of the meals come with a scratch biscuit, granola (oats), and/or pancakes/waffles. It's almost impossible to get a meal without having to ask for something to be removed, which can be a gamble. I understand that it can be a hassle to provide gluten-free foods, but when the meals $10+ (plus a $3.95 coffee), having to ask for parts of the meal to be removed feels like a bad deal. I really like the theory/idea of Roost as an "uncommon kitchen," but can't recommend it for anyone with Celiac Disease or other sensitivity. read more

Wow, did Yelp deliver on a recent business trip to York, PA. I was having lunch with one of my team members and found this place. Man, am I thankful that we did. Being a vegetarian, it is sometimes hard to find places that can give you a great meal. That is not the case here. We caught them a little later in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. There was plenty of seating, being that we were in the mid afternoon. We were seated quickly and drinks were ordered. We saw a few plates go by to a few other diners and that smell of the food over took us. We knew we were it the right place. We were told the special was BOGO on their breakfast burrito and scrambled breakfast tacos. We now knew what the other diners had, both plates for both people (yes, they each doubled down the special); not sure how they did it but they ate both plates. We place our orders and they made a version with vegan chorizo for me. A short while later, the food arrive. It did not disappoint. We went speechless while we ate. You will like the small Diner feel with an eclectic décor. I would say the only thing holding back a 5 star rating is the service. Maybe it is reflective of the hippie vibe of the restaurant, but that should not take away from being a little more responsive to the customer. Not enough to keep me way in the future. The brunch is delicious. The scratch biscuits were amazing and their cornbread was delicious. Their sausage is ... actual sausage!! It's not the frozen stuff you find everywhere else. What a gem in York, PA! After reading a couple reviews online, we decided to stop here for breakfast. We were blown away! We ordered the Roost and the Garbage Biscuit. The hash browns were super crispy, the fried chicken was BOMB, the biscuits were savory and delicious. It was busy but not too crowded and the service was quick. Our waitress was a hoot and did a great job taking care of us. Definitely try the fresh squeezed orange juice as well as the bottomless coffee. We'll definitely be back :) read more

This place was PHENOMENAL. I had a Cobb Salad with Smoked Brisket, and it knocked my socks off. The Brisket was so yummy; tender but so flavorful. The salad was super fresh. My boyfriend had a Porkstrami Reuben and it blew his mind. The kids: One had a Mr. BOH Biscuit and the other has Biscuits Benedict. We ALL had a side of crispy, yet soft curly fries.
