Wow. Just wow. From…read morethe first phone call to when I left their facility, because our fosters rescue refused service, the team was amazing. I called extremely concerned that our 5 week old foster was not well and explained that the rescue was closed (it was 12 am) but the puppy seemed to be rapidly deteriorating health wise. Given we have no medical say over a foster, I was panicked. They assured me that we would figure it out together and to get there as soon as possible, ending the call with "please drive safe", showing their true compassion. They greeted us at the door and immediately got us in front of Dr Hayward (who was so kind, caring and a sincere person). They checked his vitals and rushed him into an oxygen chamber since his breathing was so poor. I sat panicked trying to find a way to connect with the rescue. Even after finding their information, I was there for over two hours and although I was scared, Ashley didn't let me feel alone in the situation. She sat with me and chatted to help calm me. It was like I was talking to a close friend but she was just a deeply genuine animal lover like I am, so we connected. You can tell everyone there cares so deeply for the loved ones you bring in. They helped me to advocate for the puppy to the rescue when they denied service/ they told me to take him home. They were able to relay the seriousness of the situation to a person who seemed like they were in over their heads at the rescue. They transferred our information and condition to the Buffalo Grove Veg ER so that he could remain on oxygen (instead of going home with me) from 3 am to the time the rescue opened at 630 am. Unfortunately, after so much hard work and attention, the rescue decided to euthanize that sweet little 5 week old puppy but I know his last few hours would have been so much more miserable without the team at VEG ER and VEG Buffalo grove (the rescues partner location- also phenomenal but that review won't come until all of the puppies are healthy, safe and adopted). I never want anyone to have a medical emergency for their pet but if you do, please trust their team to help you. Sorry this was so long but I truly hope the team working on the night of 8/16 // morning of 8/17 see this and know my immense gratitude. A special thank you to Dr Hayward and Ashley.

I had to bring my 15 year cat, Renée, in for Anemia after my primary vet (@ Broadway Animal Hospital - word of warning - stay away) caused some pelvic fractures while performing surgery. MedVet Doctors told me the positives doing something and also any negatives. For example the Anemia needed a transfusion (positive), but the pelvic fractures may have a leakage, which will effect have the transfusion may help (negative). They kept me informed during the 3 days, 2 nights (2 days & 1 night in ICU) she was there. The staff give great care for Renée and allowed me to visit her before and after my work days. The entire staff showed Renée empathy and mentioned how beautiful she is. You cannot ask for a more caring place for your four legged companion. Four stars were given and not 5, because I found that follow-up calls were badly handled even after I called them. And how they handled the Pathology (about the cancerous lump) information from my primary vet was definitely a negative. But after those two weeks, Renée is back to her routines of walking with me down a hallway (now with a limp), eating her daily meals, and just being a happy cat. Her positivity in dealing with all this is amazing.

We took our cat here when she swallowed thread that was attached to a sewing needle and, while the…read morestaff was nice and the facilities clean, there were several issues: 1. We arrived and checked in within 30 minutes of the needle swallowing. We were seen by a vet tech for vitals relatively quickly and they told us they would take her back for an X-ray. We were told that she may be bumped in line for more emergent cases, but that they would bring her out to us if that were the case. After about 3 hours and checking in twice, a tech brought her out to us in the waiting area and said that they were still waiting on X-ray availability and had forgotten to let us know. 2. The hospital triages based on symptoms and emergency levels: immediate intervention(red), urgent intervention (yellow), and stable (green). Our cat was designated urgent, meaning intervention and observation were necessary, but not immediate. Understandable, and an estimate of 4-6 hours was given. We sat with her in the waiting area for another 3 hours while other pets that had come in after us and were designated as stable saw a doctor before us. 3. When we were taken to an exam room and our cat taken for an X ray, it was another hour or so before the vet came in. To be expected, she had a needle in her stomach. At this point, the vet informed us that the best option for removal would be endoscopy (going in through the mouth with a scope and a tool) under sedation. Again, to be expected and what we were waiting to hear. However, we were also told that the hospital's anesthesiologist or sedation expert was "on call" and could choose to decline to come in. Generally, I would want any medical professional to be rested and feel that they could perform a procedure, but they had not even called them yet to ask if that was a possibility. We were then told that another option was to move our cat to another emergency vet center that has sedation on hand 24/7. Frankly, that would have been nice to know 6 hours earlier. We ended up taking her to the other emergency vet center and they went in, retrieved the needle, and got us out within two hours. So, we waited 6-7 hours, paid nearly $800 for them to confirm what we already knew, and ended up being pawned off on to another center. The good news is that our cat is 100% fine and back to normal. While I am not a vet, I have experience with human anatomy, and the primary concern with ingesting a sharp object is always perforation. We were very fortunate that the needle didn't perforate her esophagus on the way down, and that it remained in her stomach and didn't work its way through her gastrointestinal system while we were waiting on an X ray. I appreciate that emergency medicine requires triage and that every customer there was worried for their pet. However, whether it was a busy day, lack of communication, or general disorganization, the situation with our cat could have easily gone south, requiring surgical intervention. Which is ironic considering that they couldn't guarantee that they would be able to have a staff member sedate her. MedVet is a partner of our primary care vet, so I expected more and was very disappointed. In any future emergency, we will not be bringing our cats here.

I got him an appointment at urgent care on Saturday, who quickly diagnosed a urinary blockage and to get him to the ER immediately. I was an absolute MESS. I love that they have an open concept exam space and encourage you to stay for as long as you want during your baby's procedure. I called ahead of time to check on pricing for the exam, etc., and one of the Vets answered and was so kind and patient while I explained what was going on. She reassured me they would walk me through a treatment plan we could handle after I brought her in. When I got there, I was met with the warmest, kind, helpful energy from every single person who worked there. From the person who did our intake, to the techs who did her initial vitals and administered her IV later on, (and cleaned up her mess on the way out - TY) to the Vet herself, I felt more than comfortable that they had my girls best interest in mind but were also realistic with what I could spend and how far we wanted to go with her care considering that she's 15.5 years old. After the vet examined her, I was sent a quote via email I could approve via my phone, and while I paid cash, they have an instant link you can pay for your services via credit card through email as well, which I found amazingly efficient and made what I was spending and what was included crystal clear so there was no anxiety about hidden costs. (I also found this place to be INCREDIBLY reasonable in their pricing compared to the other Vets I've gone to in the city). Recently our boy Finn dislocated his hip and needed surgery to fix it. We called every VCA around and everyone was booked, it was also a Saturday so that was understandable. Aurora was the last VCA on our list because it's an hour and a half southeast of our home. So we called to see if we could get him in, we were told yes but it was a 2-3 hour wait because they were packed as well. We waited because our Finn is worth the wait. Finn got in to see a doctor, they ran all of their tests/X-rays and kept us informed every step of the way. We eventually got into a room and were given the results along with all the options and costs, they were very professional and informative. We decided to wait until Monday to make an appointment for surgery, otherwise we would have had to pay the "weekend fees/rates. We called Monday to schedule an appointment for surgery. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday morning we dropped off Finn and his food; we were told they would call us before and after surgery and again before bedtime, and they did. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to pick Finn up and we were given all of his paperwork and meds, then we instructed on what to look out for during the healing process and how to use his meds and to call if we needed anything and to schedule an appointment with our VCA for a follow up. From beginning to end Aurora Animal Hospital crushed it!, Knocked it out of the park!, and exceeded our expectations!!!! Great Job Aurora VCA Staff and Thank You!! Our dog partially tore her CCL last November so we scheduled a consult with Dr. Przywara. Right from the start we knew we were in great hands. He did his initial observation of our dog and then came to talk to my husband and I. He was so kind and reassuring, and he was INCREDIBLY thorough. He sat with us for over 45 minutes explaining the anatomy of a canine knee, the injury our dog had, the options to fix it, and answering any and all questions we had. He never pressured us into anything and helped to give us the information we needed to make the right decision. Although we tried a few nonsurgical therapeutic options first, we ultimately decided to do TPLO surgery in February in an effort to get our girl back to 100%. Dr. Przywara did a fantastic job. He and his whole surgical team kept us informed and gave very good and detailed instructions for recovery. They made a tough recovery so much easier. Our girl is now 9 weeks post TPLO and is almost back to 100%! At the end of our final recheck appointment when thanking Dr. Przywara for all of his work with us and Kona, he said "this is why I got into this profession - to help good dogs and good people." And THAT tells you everything you need to know - he's the exact kind of vet you want taking care of your dog!
