It sucks to get your hair cut only to be forced to wear it in a ponytail for the foreseeable future. I got the absolute worst haircut from Gabby. Not sure how much experience she has, but I asked for a trim with long layers, and she just cut one huge chunk of hair off the left side of my head and did absolutely nothing on the right for the "layering." So no actual layering was done. There is nothing gradual or subtle about this hack job. She dried my hair extremely straight so I didn't notice until I washed it the next morning. It's incredibly uneven. Frankly, a toddler could have cut my hair better. Really disappointed. I will not be coming back to this salon. read more

I have been getting my hair done by Kate Spoleti for the last three years, so I was thrilled when she opened her salon last year. The space is large and peaceful (I fell asleep in the salon chair on my last visit) and very open, which I like best. Some salons can feel really crowded with all of their chairs close together, and while you are essentially stuck in your chair while someone is chopping or buzzing or bleaching around your head, it's nice to know that they is some room between you and the next person. There are lots of stylists in the shop, and the receptionist can pinpoint you to one who can help you with your hair needs. As far as styling goes, Kate has not let me down. When I first came to her, I had dead over dyed red hair. She brought my hair back to life and continued to tone red on my dark brown hair (without bleach!) until I got tired of it. I volunteered my head for some highlights to a friend going through beauty school and she worked with those to create some burgundy highlights while we waiting for the rest of the red to leave my hair. Now, three years later, she's brought me to a nice balayage highlighted layered cut, where I vary between ash blonde highlights and darker blonde highlights. She is very talented with color especially with darker hair, as it can be hard to keep highlights in dark hair from looking garish, but she does a great job making things look seamless and natural. Definitely recommend stopping in here should you need a cut and/or color. Booking is very easy, you can text the salon which is so convenient! read more

I have lived in Austin and I have never had a "go to" salon. I have tried to explain to stylists what I have wanted for years and I have always been dissapointed. That all changed when I sat down with Marissa at Spoleti Salon. I had an appointment somewhere else, but a few days before, I read about this salon in Community Impact, then the night before my appointment, my husband and I went to eat at Aviator, and I realized how close Spoleti was to where I lived. I looked it up on Yelp and they had stellar reviews. Now, here I am giving them another stellar review. I cancelled my other appointment with the salon where I had just settled on for a trim, and gave them Spoleti a shot. They fit me in for the next day. I cannot give enough positive feedback about Marissa. She greeted me at the door in a very welcoming manner. Wait. Let's talk about this salon real quick.The salon is beautiful. A clean, professional, upscale space with succulents on the window shelves and throughout. The design is clean and functional. I kind of really want the stained concrete floors in my dream house. When I made the appointment, the woman on the phone suggested I bring pictures. So I did. Marissa was welcoming and so very kind. I sat down and she immediately asked about what I wanted. I said two sentences and showed her a couple of pictures and she said she understood. Her demeanor was such that I trusted her. We didn't go to the sinks at this point. We discussed the condition and traits of my hair. I have never had this experience before. Marissa knows what she is doing. No head of hair is alike. Not only did this make me feel comfortable with what was to come, this let me know that I wasn't just another head of hair, I was a client and she was focused on the cut that would be best for me. The shampoo was lovely and included a head massage. I had never heard of their house products, Unite, but the shampoo and conditioner smelled good and not overpowering. Once I was in the chair for the cut, Marissa was efficient with her time. It felt like minutes until she said she was ready to dry and do the finishing cuts. This is important. I am super shy and anxious with small talk. I never felt uncomfortable or forced into conversation. This entire experience was such a relaxing treat. Marissa has a way with people and a way with hair that is innate. Once she finished the cut, we talked about how I like to style my hair on a regular day, a quick style is included with the cut. I told her that I like to blow dry and then curl the ends. That is what she did. What was different and very welcomed from other salon visits that I have had is that Marissa used this time to educate me on my hair and how to style. She took her time with me to make sure that I could replicate what she was doing and, also, maintain the health of my hair. I left feeling so fantastic. More than that, I left with the confidence that I could maintain the cut and style. After 6+ years, someone heard me and gave me EXACTLY what I have been trying to explain for years. Please book Marissa, but please don't book her up so much that I can't get in. (I predict that this will be a problem for me soon, if folks find out about her) I have finally found MY salon. Haley Harkin at Spoleti is the literal best. She is a super talented stylist and I trust her 100% with my hair. She has a knack for balyage and somehow discovered that a shag haircut looks best on me. Attention curly girls: Haley has an amazing head of thick, curly hair. She understands you. She has helped me embrace my natural wave and it's great. As for the salon, it has tons of parking and they use Unite products. This salon was the worst experience I have had in a salon to date. I called the receptionist and she gladly set me up an appointment with Slava. Upon entry, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, which I was pleased about. It wasn't until Slava began to cut my hair that the problems and frustration, to say the least, began. Upon agreeing to do a very MINIMAL layer cut to my hair, he tapered my face and created long bangs that were never agreed upon. When I asked him to please stop, he didn't feel as though he was done. I had to plead with him about 30 times and have staff members assess the situation before he finally stopped. When they left, he kept egging it on- I DON'T WANT BANGS SIR!!!! Leave it alone. I began to bawl after this interaction, and although some staff came to assess to situation, only 10% was taken off my check and he KEPT chopping around my hair, leaving me with the worst layers I have ever seen on myself. After touching my hair and trying to play with it like I would at home, he yelled "DON'T touch it." This is my first and last experience at this salon, and I am appalled that people pay good money for services like these. A serious change in how business is run and how customers are treated needs to be evaluated. Guess I can say glad it's beanie season, because I'll be wearing one from now on. read more

So I am late posting a review but it's better than never! Let me just say Paige is amazing. I go into Austin to have fun and get away and usually end up with a hair appointment. This place got me in with not much notice ahead of time. Paige really listened literally did exactly what I asked. I have s very dark base with super over highlighted ends. I just wanted the two to "connect" but not necessarily be as light as the bottom because driving the summer I get tan and my face is too tan for the ends to match my roots. So she did this balyage and highlight/lowlight perfectly and under 200 :). I was so pleased and I can't wait till I make it back into town AgAin to add some pink in the back (she totally sampled a piece of my hair per my request and I had no idea! I found the pink layer).
