This place redefined my taste in quiche. Truly rapturous experience both with the quiche and the croissants. The service was great too.

We finally came here about 3 weeks ago for a birthday celebration after looking for good spots to dine with my parents! After walking in, we were transported with the decor to a a chic, trendy place with an almost industrial feel. We each ordered drinks according to our tastes: an Old Fashioned, the Southside, Toronto, and a Gin & Tonic. The drinks were worth the price because they were stronggg. For appetizers, we ordered oysters and the bison tartare we had been hearing about. The tartare did not disappoint! I loved the plating and presentation, and the citric taste added some oomph. We ended up splitting main dishes and got the Alaskan Halibut and Mafalde cacio e pepe. The Alaskan Halibut was surprisingly delicious considering I am not someone who regularly orders fish as a main course. I truly enjoyed the flakiness and the squash that went along with it. Unfortunately, I felt deflated about the mafalde; it looked so good on the menu, but I felt that it was bland and lacking in a bit of flavor. I wish that we had added a sort of protein to give it something or had asked for a different dish. For me, this was the only downside in the whole meal. Our service was also great and she was on top of anything we requested. Unrelated to the food, we had condensation from the AC pipes drip on us a few times in our seat until we moved over a bit. I also felt a bit awkward when the check came and there was a 21% fee that was not listed as gratuity, but a whole serving "charge". I understand the reasoning behind this, but the way it was presented made me feel awkward and confused about still needing to tip my server. Overall though, I would love to come back and try other dishes for another celebratory meal! read more

Wow... we had Siri as our waitress (I'm pretty sure that was her name) not only was she attentive, and a lovely soul, but she was so knowledgeable! One thing I struggle with is always having questions. She went through most of the menu so thoroughly that I had NO questions. My group and I tried many pastries, and not a single one was a let down! I had the breakfast burger which I didn't finish because I was so full of of everything else we had! The hash browns, to DIE for. The bacon steak was impeccable!!! From the moment you step in the door, it was a beautiful experience! The restaurant give fancy vibes, but is very cozy and wonderful. 20/10 will recommend!!!! read more

Honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while! We went for my birthday recently (made reservations about a month in advance on their website) and had a wonderful experience. The inside of the restaurant feels so open with the high ceilings and natural decor. Staff were super attentive and friendly. For food, I tried the following: - Bison tartare: so flavorful but not overwhelming and very bright with the watermelon radish and cilantro. Meat pieces were just the right size. Still dreaming about this! - Spaghetti nero: sauce was a lovely rich tomato-based one and spaghetti was done just right. There was enough seafood to have some with every bite. I could see how some might think it's too acidic but I thought it balanced well with the seafood. - Grilled pork chop: tried my boyfriend's. Plating was just exquisite and the pork chop practically melted off the bone. Portion a little small. - Creamed spinach side: not sure cheese curds really goes with spinach but both were excellent versions of what they are. - Watermelon gin & tonic: really refreshing and not stingy with the amount of gin :P We unfortunately didn't save enough room for dessert/their signature honey & cream cake but will have to come back and try it! The food was remarkable, the service was quite good as well. My complaint it that the wording on the menus re: hospitality tax of 21% It said it is not a tip. I am a rule follower, so I added a 20% tip. Since I am not from MN, googled this hospitality tax, which in fact is a charge and not a tax. The actual receipt says charge. I get it, trying to get adequate $$ to the staff, but the wording on the menu was not accurate. That is my quarrel. Best dinner in the Twin Cities!!! We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get a table in the bar section within about 20minutes on a Friday night. The drinks we had while we waited were creative and tasty and set the tone for the rest of the meal. Each dish was noteworthy in its own way -- the perfect fry of the arancini, the tenderness of the duck meatloaf, the simultaneous simplicity and depth of flavor of the mafalde. I LOVE this restaurant. I could tell it's one of the best restaurants in Minny based on the reviews and limited reservation availability a week in advance. I was in town for an important work meeting and knew this was where we had to meet, so I left a voicemail pleading my case and the restaurant called me back two days later. I was genuinely shocked when they returned my call...but thrilled nonetheless. They fit us in for a dinner reservation in the bar area, which in my opinion was just as nice as the dining room (maybe even better with our corner booth!). We ordered nearly half of the menu, and I can genuinely say there were only 2 things I wouldn't order again - the pot roast (not as flavorful or juicy as the other meat entrees) and the Minnesota spin on Port (sweeter than even a ruby port, but still glad I tried it). The wine list is thorough without being overwhelming (shoutout to the som for her help, she was awesome - I think Claire?). Our server Stephanie was also spectacular and helped ensure we didn't leave with an ounce of FOMO. The oysters and caramelized endive were both good, but not worth ordering if you're only going to come here once IMO. The following dishes are must-tries: Bison tartare, Steelhead trout Crudo, dry aged Duck breast, grilled Venison, CAPPELLETTI OMG, corzetti, and honey and cream cake. I eat 100c more venison than the average person, and I was glad to hear the venison is flown in fresh from New York instead of New Zealand or a frozen domestic option (although it seems like a local option should exist in a hunter-friendly state? Maybe someday!). The venison steak came from the hind quarter/leg, which would have never been my first guess since it tasted as tender as a backstrap. SO well executed!!! They also serve ice cream by the scoop and the caramel was amazing. The apple crisp was a unique take, since it is cold and focused on the apple more than any sort of crust. My old fashioned and bubbly by the glass was also amazing. The facilities were warm, cozy, and welcoming while still being upscale and refined. The restrooms were spotless and I loved the rolled towels. The open-air kitchen is a fun aesthetic and I didn't want to leave. Probably why we stayed for so long! read more

If you are only in town for one day you have to try this place. My boyfriend went to dinner here his last trip to Minneapolis . I came to visit and he highly recommended coming back. This place did not disappoint wait the 30 minutes to an hour ! I had their spicy margarita it was really nice . We added tequila to their non alcoholic grapefruit drink which made it into a delicious Paloma . They gave us a fresh loaf of bread which was mesmerizing. I loved their lamb two ways highly recommend. Their pork was made to perfection I couldn't believe it . Staff was very friendly and helpful . This place is a must try. I came here for Sunday brunch 10 minutes before it opened, knowing that I didn't have a reservation, and I kid you not - there was already a line. And shortly after I sat in the bar area - the entire place was nearly packed, dining area and bar. Make reservations for this popular spot! The brunch menu wasn't extensive, but had a good amount of different entrees with sides a la carte. You're also given a pastry list of items to pencil in what you'd like, which you can all see at the chef's counter. For brunch, I decided on the Pork Schnitzel since I hardly have it, and it came with a spring mix, deviled eggs and a tomato mostarda. It didn't take long to get my grub, which was delicious! The pork schnitzel itself was huge, but liked it came with the greens and mostarda, to balance out the flavors. What I really liked about the schnitzel was the lemon-y flavor and it was thin from the mallet. It was a good schnitzel. The side salad, deviled eggs and mostarda were nice (and necessary) additions to the schnitzel, as the meat was breaded and there was so much of it, that everything else created a tart and light flavor to the entire palate. Overall, it was a good dish. Service became spotty as the morning went on, with the place getting more and more packed. But I can see what the hype is about this place, and am glad to have tried it during my trip to Minneapolis. The reasonably priced dinner. Spoon and stable isn't cheap, but it's also not overpriced. The food was definitely reasonably priced. I went in on a Thursday night without a reservation, and was able to get a drink at the bar within 15 minutes. Started off with one of their original cocktail, which was decent but not life changing. Once we got seated, we ordered the octopus to start, and potato gnocchi and striped bass to share. For dessert, we got the pistachio frangipane. The grilled octopus was on the bar food menu and was delicious. I'm usually not a fan of shelling beans, but it paired very well with the harissa and the cucumbers. The potato gnocchi was delicious. Cooked with lobster and pancetta, there as a slight citrus taste from the lemon that made the dish less filling. We only ordered the half size, and that was definitely the way to go. We ended with the striped bass, which came out in a soup like liquid. The bass was cooked to perfection and the skin was crispy. Mixed with the soup and the toppings, It was my favorite dish there. I never leave without dessert. We decided to go with the pistachio frangipane because it was the only thing that was made up of ingredients i all enjoyed. it was not my favorite, but still good- not too sweet nor too heavy. read more

My husband and I went to Spoon and Stable for my birthday. I had heard so much about the restaurant and the award winning chefs, so I was excited to go there. We must be one of the few people who were not impressed. Yes, the restaurant was beautiful. We were seated at a bar|table, and had all of the chefs right in front of us. Personally, I wanted to face my husband, not sit next to him, so I was not impressed at the seating arrangement. We were given warm water, which was just refilled with my lukewarm water. Of course, we were offered sparkling water. but it felt like we were stupid for getting plain city water. Maybe the food was just too fancy for me. I didn't eat anything that "wowed". We also got to watch a mini showdown between the executive chef and the expeditor. The chef yelled at the poor expeditor for doing something wrong. The dessert was very pretty and good. I also got cotton candy for my birthday. Overall, I was disappointed with this restaurant. I don't think we will be going back. read more

The appetizers here were great. We got the oysters, the tomato heirloom salad, and bison tartare. We got three half size portions of the pastas to share - the potato gnocci, the spaghetti nero, and one other. The portions are fair, so if you're looking for an actual meal I'd recommend the full portion. We got several sides including the Brussel sprouts, which were quite disappointing. They weren't crispy at all and tasted boiled. The acorn squash was much better. For my main I ordered the pork chop, as recommended by a lot of the other reviews. I wasn't sure if I'd like the way it was prepared, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. It cake paired with eggplant that went very well together. read more

All-around excellent experience. Good wine, cocktails, food, environment, and service. Staff completely bend over backwards to make each dining experience memorable, with some of the most accommodating and friendly service I've ever experienced in fine dining. The drinks are great - from thoughtfully complex cocktails curated to the adult palate, to well-thought out wine pairings. But honestly, the food alone is enough reason to eat here. You will not find one bad appetizer, starter, side dish, main course, or desert here. You will of course pay for what you get here. $100/person with drinks at a minimum. Great for special occasions or work expense account if you can get away with it. Rich relatives or sugar daddy want to buy you dinner? This is the place. I do wish the menu changed a bit more often, and that the central dining area was a bit less cramped. But these are the most minor of criticisms. The food was excellent and high quality. I got the spaghetti Nero which was excellent and filling. The service was also excellent, our server Jake was attentive and helped us have a great night. Jake did a great job making us feel at home and so did the other servers. We are really thankful for having such great service. The interior was nicely lit with natural sunlight and gradually dimmed and became more cozy as it grew darker with nice lighting. I highly recommend coming here! read more

This was a tough one to rate. The pot roast was quite good, really melt in your mouth. The duck was just soooo fatty and chewy I couldn't eat much of it. I sampled two beers of which both were disappointing so I went with an old fashion, which was strong and delicious. The service was slow and after some deliberation we ended up complaining about the duck...of the two pieces, one was...edible at the best, the other just not gonna happen. Manager was nice about it, she did comp the duck and we were offered some small desserts as a good gesture. The waiter seemed guniunely sorry as well. read more

When we walked in, the vibe already was on point. We sat at the bar for about 5 minutes and were seated at the chef's bar! Went to a private event here and was blown away! The private dining room is beautiful and I wouldn't hesitate holding an event here. Dinner started with artisan breads and whipped butter on a piece of marble. Appetizer round was Scallop Crudo and the kumquats were a delicious addition to the plate. Main course was the Steelhead Trout with lettuce and fruit. Dessert was raspberry mousse with a black sesame brittle and ginger ice cream. All of those dishes are in their regular menu! Omg. We made reservations in advance to celebrate a family event. However upon arrival, we found the front desk lady was totally indifferent to our presence. After serving the wine, the server didn't ask if we wanted more wine, promptly brought the check as soon as we finished the main course, didn't ask if wanted any dessert. What an incredible evening. Led by our charmingly warm and patient table captain, Lester, the entire FOH staff was delightful, unhurried, and intelligent on the menu items and spiels. Everything came out tasting unique and well-balanced. Our favorites were the gazpacho with corn & king crab, the blue tuna crudo with star-cut kohlrabi, and the hen-stuffed ravioli verde (which was almost enchilada-like in its flavor and textures). The bread is baked in-house as well and served with fresh whipped, salted butter on a marble slab. Desserts were fantastic as well. Loved the overall vibe and always enjoy being able to watch the quiet hum of an open kitchen in mid-service. If you come to MSP, you should prioritize getting a reservation here. I had the Corn Gazpacho and the Duck Breast entree, both of which were unique and delicious. I'm so heartbroken about my experience here. I've heard nothing but good things and wanted it to be a 5-star dinner but it fell short. I made my reservation online, simple and streamlined. Got there and my boyfriend and I were sat at the chef's table (which is amaze, because that's my usual preferred table at places like this). Our server was awesome, super attentive and friendly. We ordered the sunchoke soup, bison tartare and scallop crudo for apps. The soup was flawless! Super silky and the apple butter and Brussels worked so well here! I don't eat red meat but boyfriend said the bison was delicious! The scallops were super zingy, unexpected but didn't hate it. For entrees, I got the tamarind glazed pork chop and he got the gigli pasta. I watched the chef make my pork chop from start to finish in this cool wood burning stove and although the flavors were good, the pork chop itself was left on the fire too long and ended up being SUPER tough but still medium in the center. Visually; gorgeous, but it was technically flawed in a major way and I can't give them full stars here. The gigli pasta was cooked well but very over seasoned. The salt here overpowered everything which is sad because the delicate crab and seafood kind of got lost. We skipped on dessert and left semi-disappointed. I held high expectations for this place but it just fell short. Maybe we'll try again later because I really want to love it here. read more

This is a fun modern venue, not so crowded early on a Tuesday but it did fill up - get your reservations ahead of time! Lamb was excellent - pistachio croissant was wonderful - bloody mary was one of the best. Our whole group liked their meal and we saw so many other things we'd love to try so we'll be back.
