The food was extraordinarily uniquely delicious! Unbelievably pleasing to my palette! From my first bite of my salad (mint, cotija cheese and tahini) with mixed organic greens made for a most amazing start. Then topped it off with linguini with meatballs that was out of this world. Clearly fresh ingredients combined with creativity that superseded any of my expectations! Honestly the best dining experience I've ever had any where any time! My friend had the shrimp appetizer with zucchini, and noodles in a roasted red pepper sauce that was sublime followed by salmon that was prepared perfectly. The service was impeccable! Warm inviting professional staff. The ambiance quaint, warm and unique. Anyone looking for delicious food must come here! I loved it and will return any chance i get!

The daily soup offering (parsnip and peach) delicious!

Food was considerably thought out. Good limited number of selections including a few vegan options. Small place with good outdoor options for dogs. We had the hamachi crudo, salad and daily parsnip soup as appetizers. Mains were linguine with meatballs and the marinaded chicken breast. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the fish (salmon was sold out) since we arrived as their last seating at 8:15. Service was attentive and friendly. For desert we shared the million dollar pie (think carmel chocolate and dense shortbread). Overall enjoyed the late dinner on our way from Utah to Sacramento. No alcohol was available. May try this restaurant again down the road. About 30 minutes south of I-80 (89 south) near Truckee. Give them a try, but call ahead to make sure they have space available.

I've been coming to Spoon for years, every chance I get when I'm Tahoe. It's the best homemade, cozy, comforting meal you can get in the area. The food portions are large, there is rotating specials and alwayssss get the dessert. Their menu is always a classic combination of: protein, carb, & veg + sauce. Meatballs have always been on the menu but the type of fish rotates. It's always delicious. Whatever the house soup is, you should get it. The fresh salad with homemade dressing also changes but remains impeccable. Space is tight; they only have 7 tables. YES you should make a reservation. They open at 3PM & you should call them asap. Bonus! It's BYOB.

We heard so many good things about Spoon. We decided to go last night to celebrate a birthday. We were met by Gigi. She was so pleasant and directed us to some chairs and provided us with a wine opener to open the bottle of wine we brought. She was so pleasant and so sweet. We were introduced to our server Rocio. She was from Argentina and so polite when telling us the specials. We shared the three cheese scallion Mac and cheese and roasted eggplant dip. The Mac was creamy and flavorful and the eggplant had a smoke tone with a splash of heart. We had the King Salmon special with quinoa. Salmon perfectly done and the quinoa was bright to counter the salmon. We also had the Spicy Rubbed Organic chicken legs with spring potatoes and pesto sauce. This reminded us of a classic French dish well executed. Final dish was the linguine and meatballs. Linguine was Al Dente. Meatballs had a unique seasoning that added flavor. We finished the evening with the three medallion and chocolate mousse with raspberries. Both were delicious. I would have loved to have a bowl of the mousse with just the raspberries. Maybe a new dessert idea? Fortunately, a brown bear came along and we were so excited we took pictures of the bear and forgot to take pictures of our dishes.

Although North Tahoe has many spots to choose from, we ended up going to Spoon despite it lacking a view of the lakefront -- and how glad I am that we did. Our experience at Spoon was amazing. Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly by staff and sat upstairs next to a window. Though the indoors space is a bit small, I think it adds to the charm of the restaraunt. The comfortably decorated space and the savory aroma throughout Spoon create such a warm, homey feel. Outdoor seating is also nicely decorated with fairy lights and cute tables. For appetizers, we started with a 3 cheese scallion mac and the soup of the day, which was a corn chowder. Both were delicious. The mac had a very rich, cheesy flavor, and the scallions and jalapeno bits added the perfect touch of freshness to the dish. As for the corn chowder, it had a very creamy and buttery taste, which paired well with the crab toppings. I will say though, I think the soup could be a bit thicker and hotter. Then, we got our mains. I ordered the Spice Rubbed Organic Chicken legs, which had extremely crispy skin and moist, tender meat, which pretty much fell off the bone! In addition to the chicken, the potatoes that came as a side were seasoned very well and topped with a delicious creamy pesto sauce. The chicken was kind of greasy, though. My mom ordered the Pan Roasted Fish, which was a King Salmon. She raved about how she absolutely loved it -- the skin was extremely crispy and the meat was soft and tender, and the quinoa had a perfect citrusy taste to it, so the dish had a very fresh feel to it. My brother ordered the Linguini and Meatballs, which were also exceptional. At the end of our meal, we shared a Smores brownie dessert, which was just the perfect amount of sweetness. If you plan on coming here, make sure you call ahead to reserve a spot, as there are limited tables. They will then text you the day of your reservation to confirm. There is a very small parking lot (like 3 parking spaces) behind the restaraunt, but it is not a big problem as there are plenty of spaces to park along the roads bear the restaraunt. Overall, our dining experience here was incredible and I'd definitely come here again given the chance.

Loft dining. Staircase access. No ADA access.

Spoon is a charming little restaurant that has been wedged into an old cabin. They make excellent use of the limited space. Interior seating is a table for six downstairs and two 2 tops and two 4 tops upstairs in the loft. The loft is up a steep, somewhat narrow staircase. Even the downstairs is up two steps. Folks with mobility issues can enjoy patio dining - which is where most of the seating is anyway. This is not intended as a slam. This building at least 75 years old and was built as a summer cabin. There is no practical way to increase interior accessibility. Even if you could get in, there is no room to maneuver a manual, let alone an electric wheelchair. Our server was friendly and efficient. The wife had the King Salmon which she said was delicious. I had the Linguine and Meatballs. The meatballs were very good; nice texture and density with a nice pan sear. The linguini was oversalted. We also split an excellent Green Goddess salad (plenty to share) and finished with the "Million Dollar Slice". Chocolate, caramel and shortbread goodness. The food was good but a bit pricey for what we got. Next time we will probably go to Zas.

How do we make a reservation and how far in advance are reservations taken?

You make reservations by calling us during our open business hours and speaking to us. We do it "old school" style, writing it with a pencil in the book :-) There isn't a time limit, as far as how far in advance. We have people book a week ahead…

How can we determine which vegetarian items noted on the menu can be made vegan? A vegan icon would be preferable!

The items like salad that lists feta cheese, can be vegan if you order it without feta. The Mac n Cheese obviously is a no go because it is all about the cheese. All of our menu items list cheese in the description or title if there is any, so it is…

Are there vegan and gluten-free options?

Yep,we do. It's a small menu with lots of options including tasty al a carte sides. Check out the menu at Spoontahoe.com

Is Spoon only doing takeout ONLY or do they Have any Outdoor / heated seating areas you can eat? Some local spots have setup outdoor heated dining areas

We are just doing takeout at this time.

    Is this restaurant dog friendly?

Hey there, during the warm seasons we have a big back yard and front patio where you can dine with your pup (and even order chicken or fish for them). During the cold season we just have people dining inside available.

The frozen Chambers Punch topped with dark rum was honestly the best frozen cocktail I've ever had. It was incredibly refreshing on a hot summer day, especially by the water. For food, we ordered the deep fried zucchini sticks, the beet and goat cheese salad, and the crispy fish sandwich. Everything was excellent. The zucchini sticks were perfectly cut, crispy, and delicious. The beet and goat cheese salad was fresh and refreshing with a great mix of flavors and dressing. The crispy fish sandwich was perfectly cooked and another great choice for a summer day. If you can, grab a seat at the restaurant bar. It has one of the best views in the whole place. The wait can be long, but it is worth it. If you don't want to wait, they also offer takeout, and there is beach access nearby, making it easy to enjoy your meal by the water. The bartenders were fantastic. They were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, attentive, and genuinely fun to talk with. Between the food, drinks, views, and service, Chambers is an easy 5-star spot. We'll definitely be back.

While the food was excellent, the service completely overshadowed the experience. From the moment I walked up to the host stand, I was ignored. The hostess and a server were standing there talking and didn't acknowledge me for several moments. Eventually, I was seated. After being seated, I politely asked if I could move to another table. My server, Scott S., said he would check if it was possible. When he returned, he told me the table had a reservation in about an hour. I explained that I was only planning to have a cocktail and an entrée and asked if that would be okay. His response was simply, "I guess." Scott S. cleared the table, pointed to it, and walked away, leaving me to move all of my belongings myself. I still thanked him. While waiting for my food, I overheard the hostess say, right next to me, "No one's moving tables tonight. No exceptions." Whether it was directed at me or not, it made me feel uncomfortable. The food arrived and was genuinely great. Unfortunately, Scott S. never came back to check on us--not once. As someone with over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, I know that checking on guests after their food is served is one of the most basic standards of service. The only person who checked on us was a busser when he refilled our water. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager, only to find out that Scott S. was the manager on duty. To make matters worse, while we were waiting, several servers were standing in the walkway talking amongst themselves instead of attending to guests. The food was excellent, but great food can only carry a restaurant so far. Hospitality is what makes guests want to return, and unfortunately, this experience was disappointing from start to finish. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because the kitchen is doing an excellent job, but the front-of-house service needs significant improvement.

All four of us loved the taste of our entrees and of the appetizers. Our server (Jigga) was excellent and attentive. The atmosphere was nice with a great view of the Truckee River, just 20 feet away from our window table. The bathrooms were clean. On the flip side, we were greeted rather rudely upon walking in. We arrived early especially to grab a drink and relax during happy hour. There were four of us and 2 bar stools, so we sat at one of the three empty high-tops next to the bar. The bartender told us we couldn't sit there and that we had to order drinks standing at the bar and then cash out before being seated for dinner. Our table in the dining room was waiting, but we still had to pay for drinks at the bar before being seated. It was very confusing the way things were handled, especially considering this restaurant is rated $$$ on Yelp. Long story short, we stood at the bar until our tab was settled. Then we noticed that we were not charged the happy hour pricing (we still had another 20 minutes). We brought it up with the bartender and she said, "you have to ask for the happy hour menu if you want happy hour prices." So immediately we felt unwelcome and as if we were being treated like "one-visit tourists". She didn't even offer to change our tab to reflect the happy-hour pricing. Unfortunately the bar confusion left a sour taste over much of the entire dinner, which otherwise would have been a fairly decent night out. Three-stars for the happy hour experience , and 4 stars for the restaurant.
