Bring your own wine or drinks (they welcome you to do so since they have no liquor license). We started with the summer goddess salad (fresh herbs & balanced flavor) and the garlic shrimp (wanted to lick the plate!). Then shared the pan roasted fish which was salmon the night we went. Such fantastic flavor! Light and satisfying. So refreshing after the tired menu items offered elsewhere. Desserts are wonderful, too! I've been spending summers in Tahoe for years, but had never been to Spoon. It's a small, but charming restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. Claudia our waitress and hostess was very attentive and gave great service. The food was amazing! My husband and I agreed it's the best food in Tahoe. This place is fantastic! We had no idea how popular it was. We showed up for a super late lunch (4 pm) and they said they were booked. After seeing our dejected faces (my parents and my children) Elizabeth worked her magic and we got a table. We started off with the papas which were crispy and delicious. My parents got the Mediterranean chicken and loved it (they are tough critics). My brother got the spaghetti and meatballs and also enjoyed it. My husband and I got the fish and the jerk chicken and both were fantastic. We got the Mac and cheese for the kids and a side of grilled chicken. All of it was fantastic. I got the Linguine with Homemade Beef Meatballs and he got a chicken breast entree (can't recall the exact name). Both were so good. My entree had amazing flavor. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here the next time I visit Tahoe. The location is really cute. It is in a small little cabin-esque building. The decor is set up very cute. Best restaurant in Tahoe as far as I'm concerned. Better than any food I've had in Truckee or South Lake. Maybe there's somewhere out there, but I haven't found it... The menu changes, but every iteration of it has been delicious in the 2 years I've frequented Spoon. Their nightly deserts are almost always amazing. The owners and staff are all incredibly friendly and have provided top-notch service (which really stands out against the backdrop of less-than-great Tahoe service). Despite all the challenges of operating a restaurant in Tahoe during a pandemic, they've really managed to pull out all the stops. I do takeout a lot, but dining on their patio in the summer is a joy. I'm moving away, but this'll be my go-to whenever I'm back on the north shore. read more

What a delightful restaurant. Wish I found this place earlier in my trip had a $20 tourist trap burger my first night. Ended up eating my next two meals here. Fish was cooked perfectly. Rustic potatoes perfectly done and crispy. Ribeye such a deal. The deserts were great, not overwhelmingly sweet. so the flavors stood out. Everything here is so good! We ordered take out, and the food was still warm when we got them. We got mac n' cheese, tiramisu, jerk chicken thighs and linguini and meatball. The mac n' cheese was topped with a layer of panko/bread crumb and was pretty creamy. I loved the jerk chicken thighs; very tender and flavorful, with a thin layer of crispy skin. All extra fat had been rendered off without sacrificing the texture of meat. The roasted vegetables were a nice addition too. The linguini and meatballs is different from your regular spaghetti & meatballs. First off, the meatballs are almost the size of your fist, and is a nice blend of meat and spices. There is not of marinara sauce coating the noodles, rather it seems to be an olive oil, spices and some tomato sauce blend. They looked bland but were rather flavorful. Great find away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Seating was outdoors and surprisingly the weather played in everyone's favorite as it was comfortable. We had a reservation at 3 as tables are limited and figured an early dinner was better than a late one - especially after our hike today. We were seated by a very sweet and attentive lady that one can tell truly enjoyed working there. A real smile throughout and a chuckle here and there. I'm not sure if she gave her name or maybe she did and I didn't hear it, but she was great. Our meals smelled just as amazing as they tasted. 3 orders of pan roasted fish which was Salmon (love Salmon), braised pork, linguine w/3 generously sized handmade meatballs, and while there is no kid's menu - they did have some delicious cheese mac that no 7 year old could ever turn down from the starters and munchies section. Everything looked fresh and the presentation was perfect. We are plan to keep this as one of our go to eateries next time we visit. Worth every penny!! read more

The outdoor patio was very nice for Covid times dining, great ambiance, and super dog friendly! Servers were very friendly, not rushed, and offered water for the dogs as well. All the food tasted really good. It's a bit of a splurge but it's worth it for a nice dinner. Way over due review! My husband and I have been coming here for 2 years now. Tahoe is our destination every summer and every October for the last 27 years. This is the best restaurant we've ever found and thank our lucky stars every time we come back and find it is still here. The food is just flat out cooked perfectly. I am unfortunately gluten-free and they have a lot of options for me. I wish they were in our hometown in Southern California. We would go weekly, if not nightly. This place is an adorable little cabin tucked in the woods - delicious and worth the wait. We went for dinner with 2 adults and 2 kids the crazy busy week between Christmas and New Years. I had salmon with some sort of magical green sauce, my husband had roasted chicken and my son had mac and cheese with corn (his new favorite). My other son boycotted eating because they did not have hamburgers (he's one of those). Luckily we made a reservation because it is a tiny place (literally 3 tables on the main floor and not sure how many upstairs). We had to wait a bit for our table and for our food, but it was worth it. The flavors were unique and super fresh. The waiter was very personable (if a bit harried) and helped us with our selections. It looked to be a BYOB place, also lots of folks coming in for take out. My one complaint was that it was freezing cold inside. The building does not seem to be winterized. We sat in the corner near a bank of windows that were single pane and shut with hooks. Very rustic and cute in the summer. Very, very cold in winter. read more

We've been to Tahoe many times and are usually underwhelmed by our dining experiences. However, this weekend we tried Spoon for the first time and would say it's one of our best dining experiences we've had in Tahoe. The place is small, and unusual in that the dining is outside, so you need to dress for the weather outside. The menu is quite small but the food quality is really excellent. Everything we had was flavorful, fresh and good value. The serving staff are super friendly and helpful. Spoon might very well be my new favorite place to eat in Tahoe. A friend brought us after a tiring day of shredding the slopes - we called ahead and were relieved to hear they had a spot for us! We started with the mac & cheese with cauliflower and it was probably my favorite of the meal. We each got the short ribs, fish, and meatballs as entrees with sides of roasted veggies to share. The food was some of the best I've had (which says a lot as we stopped in here about a month after returning from Paris!). Staff are friendly and welcoming. Booked a reservation here 1 week in advance since we were visiting Lake Tahoe and this place had stellar Yelp reviews. Indeed, it ended up being amazing. We were seated right away. The wait for the food after we had ordered was rather long (30 min?) but the food was incredible. One person had the Summer Goddess Salad which was fresh and good-tasting (I'm not that big on salad but it was a good salad). Someone else ordered the jerk chicken and that was delicious--the Caribbean marinade made it some of the best chicken I'd had at a restaurant, and the vegetables were all unique and tasty (roasted rainbow carrots and other oddities that I don't consume often + they were flavorful). We also had the soup of the moment (it was a creamy corn chowder that was also delicious) and the pan roasted fish, which was a king salmon the time we ordered. Loved all of it. At the end we had a green tea cheesecake which was their special for dessert, and we also had one of the other desserts (I forget which). Great experience overall. read more

Terrible, rude service. They gave me a reservation for 645 at 6 pm. Between taking the reservation and driving there our toddler had a bathroom emergency and we couldn't make it. I called them 10 times before someone picked up to give them the courtesy of letting them know we wouldn't make it and the host gave me attitude and said that next time we should really let them know farther in advance since they are turning people away.
