Went to get my car tire repaired this morning and didn't have breakfast yet. My wife recommended this Spoon Diner, so I decided to give it a try -- and it was really good! The food was fresh, the soup and sandwich were delicious, and the place has a cozy, very Canadian feel. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere and service. More food than I could eat, and soooo good! Ordered the scrambled. Very flavorful

While awaiting my car being serviced early one morning at a nearby dealership, the service rep there recommended this diner close by for breakfast. I'm so glad. It was a delightful experience. It would not be my first choice for a diner experience in Victoria, but I was afoot. It was close. The seating and service were prompt and very friendly. The expected refills of the pretty-okay coffee were frequent enough. Things were moderately busy. The breakfast Benny was promptly brought out and was nothing short of really good. Price and portion were fair, and along with enough attentiveness, I was compelled to way-over tip my wonderful waitress Sara. I really DON'T understand the odd negative review. Outliers I believe. While trying to quantify the nuanced tastes I looked around and even the decor was nuanced with fun additions and pithy details. While there was that greasy spoon vibe of a times-past diner, it still felt modern enough, clean, and as I implied, the flavour profiles were fantastic. The hash-browns weren't those usual franchise-prominent, lightly golden brown fried potatoes squares probably previously frozen, but rather hand-made, deeply-fried master pieces of epic short-order cooking -- with an unmistakable diner ethos. I'd normally not get so excited about a diner nor give one a five star rating just because. However I believe I did as Spoons Diner so exceeded my expectations. The guy next to my table let me snap a picture of his waffles done in a cinnamon bun concoction. He looked very happy. Gastronomically content! I'll be back!

Nice place for taking breakfast. Highly recommend the kingkong if you like peanut butter. Highly recommend cinnamon pancakes if you like cinnamon rolls flavor. I think it is a very good place for people who like some traditional flavor. All in all it is very good restaurant.

Cozy ambiance and delicious eats! Portions are very generous and definitely match the price. For a busy weekend morning, the service was still on par. Will be back

Wow! Such a great vibe the moment you walk in the door. Super friendly staff are there to greet you even though they're super busy serving a room full of locals and new patrons. I didn't know they had this menu item, but when I saw the Prusa, a they-make-whatever-they-want types of things, I knew I had to order it. I've never done one of those surprise orders, but this was just darn perfect. It fit my personality so well. It was just delicious! Served as a sandwich but it was a gooey mountain that needed to be eaten with fork and knife. Pulled pork, fried onions with spicy + bell peppers, bacon Jam I think? , spinach, tomato, scrambled egg, and a cheese slice in a soft briochey bun. With their crispy savoury potatoes on the side. Spectacular diner food. I died and went to heaven, and then came back to life from the experience and vowed to go on a diet.

Great atmosphere and service. Food is reasonably priced as the portions are quite large. I had the greasy spoon, which is a pretty basic breakfast. Instead of toast, I opted for mini pancakes...although they're not mini at all! It came with 3 pancakes that were regular sized to me! It was fluffy and delicious. The hash browns were crisp and seasoned. Nothing to complain about my dish. The other dish we had was The Prusa, where the chef decides what to make. We ended up getting a variation of an eggs benedict with ground beef, caramelized onions served over a burger bun. It was quite tasty and super filling. Overall, it was a satisfying breakfast.

This is a really fun diner and I'm so happy I discovered this place. It's retro with a superhero theme. They even have an old lunch counter with stools. You just never get to see these anymore. Loved the menu and the food was over the top good. I like the Prusa option on the menu where you can let them surprise you with whatever the chef feels like making. All you do is tell them if you want sweet or savory and they'll make you something. You can also do a "double it or nothing" where you either pay double or get it free. Great place!

A solid spot with its own distinct vibe and an impressively long menu…read more Great for groups since there's something for everyone, and the portions are generous. Almost too much for one person. One thing that stood out: unlike most diners that only offer one brewed coffee option, this place lets you choose between regular and dark roast. Small detail, but appreciated. I went on a weekday morning, so there was no wait, but the space isn't very large, so I'd recommend making a reservation during peak hours. Staff were friendly overall, and the atmosphere is worth experiencing. That said, while the food was consistently solid, it wasn't particularly memorable. I ordered the Valentino, smoked salmon and poached egg on an English muffin with avocado, but the avocado was completely unripe, which brought down both the texture and the flavor. With a menu this wide, most dishes land in the "good" rather than "great" range, and execution details like that make a difference. If you're going for variety and the overall experience, you'll be satisfied, but if you're hoping for something exceptional, it may feel a bit underwhelming. Bottom line: a reliable brunch option for groups, as long as you're not setting the bar too high on the food itself.

It was delicious and beautiful. A lot of love and effort is put into this. Sylvia's scones are phenomenal. If she opened up a bakery I would buy all her scones and loaves. The bathroom is a nice size with a big tub. So why the three stars? There is a radiator in the room but ours didn't work well and would heat up and did not stay hot. We were cold. If you are on the first floor please note that sound travels. you can really hear any movement above you and you can hear conversations very well outside your room which didn't make me feel particularly comfortable since I'm sure even just is talking normally can be heard by others as well. Didn't feel amazing from a privacy perspective. When you book it says there is daily housekeeping. There's no daily housekeeping. We were asked if anything was missing from our room by the breakfast server but nothing else. If you're expecting your trash to be emptied or bed to be made that did not happen our whole stay. Location: not really walkable to the downtown area or most things in Victoria. A couple other small things that I wouldn't even mention if the above two were no issue: The bed was okay although not super comfortable in my opinion. The outlets are really inconvenient and there aren't many. They mention there is tea, hot chocolate, and coffee. There's no hot chocolate and no creamer in your room if you want some later. I do think this place could be good for others but it was not the right fit for us. For a bed and breakfast the room just wasn't super comfortable for us to want to spend time there.
