Had a good brunch here! The place was smaller than I expected and they were predictably pretty busy when we arrived around 11:30 on Sunday. Indoor seating was full, but we got a table for 2 right away on the patio. It was awful weather, but the patio is covered and heated, so it was actually fine. My food and drink were really good! I got a strawberry matcha latte and the Mt Doug benny. The matcha was good and the strawberry wasn't too sweet. It came with a little biscotto, which was a treat both to dip in the drink and eat on its own. The benny was delicious - all the toppings went well together and the pesto was great. The latke base was interesting. I liked the latkes but I would probably get the bagel base if I could do it over again for a little less oil. I thought I ordered half salad/half fruit for my side, but I got fruit and potatoes. Didn't feel like sending it back. It was a lot of potato, but the side potatoes were admittedly really good with lots of seasoning. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. They asked us to move over a table at one point before we even got our food so they could accommodate a bigger group, and it was no big deal for us, but they were nice enough to comp our drinks as thanks. read more

I had the Drop 3 which was beyond amazing. The pancakes were perfectly cooked and the potatoes were the perfect crispy add-on. The sunny side up egg was a little cool but I put it with my pancakes and everything changed. The service was amazing. Every few minutes, the waiters would check on us, offering more food or drinks. Even when we were waiting to be seated for about 45 minutes, coffee, and other drinks were offered. The theme was very laid back and relaxing. This is definitely on my list of restaurants to go to again. read more

I loved the ambiance of this restaurant. First off COVID props to this place. A big patio outside, good distance between each table. They didn't take down personal information but I saw them sanitizing menus which was a big plus for me. The servers were really nice and attentive. The food came fast and the portions were not bad. The latte was not bad but the biscuit that came with it was mediocre. We ordered the latkes, traditional eggs Benedict on a bagel with tomato parmesan soup, lox bagel and Reuben with potatoes. The latkes came with a side is fruit, sour cream and apple sauce. I love latkes and these were not bad but not the best either. I like my latkes crispier and with more potato shred texture instead of totally blitzed. But that's just a personal preference. These latkes went so well with the sour cream. Side note, I really appreciate the different variety of fruit on the side. There was pineapple, kiwi, grape, watermelon and orange. So much variety! The traditional eggs Benedict on a bagel with a side of soup. I didn't have the soup but I heard it was delicious. The bagel was quite chewy which I liked but it was difficult to cut with a knife. The egg was nicely cooked. I just wish there was more hollandaise sauce. I appreciated the amount of Canadian bacon on the bagel. It wasn't one slice but like multiple slices. Lox bagel - I didn't try it but I heard it was not bad and there was quite a bit of salmon on top. Reuben - it was okay. Not too salty but not the reuben I was personally looking for. Nothing memorable. Wouldn't order it again. BUT, the side of potatoes was delicious. Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Would I come back? If I was in Victoria and was looking for a brunch where I didn't need to line up. Yes. If I'm looking for something to blow my socks off then no. Yet another brunch review by yours truly. I love The Village and personally think they should open up a location in Vancouver because they would do so well. Let's get one thing out of the way - all their locations (including this one) are small, so if you aren't a fan of waiting in line for delicious brunch, then this is no exception. My recommendation? Come after 1:30 and on a weekday. This has never failed me. Now on to the good stuff: everything else! Their food menu is delicious and all their ingredients are locally sourced (bonus points!). Their ambiance is vibrant and happy. Their service has always been wonderful. Honestly, nothing to complain about. All their bennys are ah-mazing. You have the option to have them served on english muffins or potato latkes, and the latkes are the way to go! It sounds interesting, but trust me, it's delicious. They also serve red barn bacon, which is some of the best bacon I've ever tasted. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. Oh, and they serve up some mean brunch drinks if that's your thing. read more

Just enjoyed a casual business lunch. We showed up just in advance of noon and it was full. We had a short wait at an outside table and the staff brought us tea to keep us warm. Shortly after noon we were seated. Food and service were very good - West Coast Benedict on latkes is extremely good and ample for lunch. I've been here three times, and only ever ordered the Red Barn Benny with the potato latkes. It's always perfect ever time. Great service and I would recommend this place to anyone for brunch. As a side note, they're really community oriented and they helped to support my boss when he was hospitalized, which I think is awesome. read more

Update time! Brunched here for my second time. The Italian Benny on potato latkes was a massive HIT again! Definitely a stand out open and highly recommended. This Benny is what sets The Village from all the rest. The West Coast Benny (Smoked Salmon) was good, but nothing to rave about. The salmon was sliced quite finely which meant smaller portions than what you'll likely find at other brunch places, but definitely quality ingredients. You'll be happy with salmon bennies at most other places in general, I'm serious when I say get the Italian Benny at The Village!! The Challah French Toast was average. It was inconsistent in terms of moistness/yolkiness. Some areas were super yolky like you'd expect from a traditional French Toast, other areas tasted more like lemon-infused lightly crisped oven-baked bread. Not a bad thing, but might not be what you'd expect when ordering and expecting a classic French Toast. Service was great as experienced on my first visit! And update from my last review... The patio is now open and it looks awesome! Coffee was brewed well, though I did have to ask for a top up, but hey they were busy and based on their regularly attentive and courteous service, I wasn't too hung up on me not getting treated like coffee royalty. Now that I've tried their other menu options, I'm able to give a more wholesome review and award my precious Yelp stars more accurately, but still a booming 4 stars since their Italian Bennies are out of this world! read more

Great local spot. We had the red barn benny, one on bagel and one on the latkes. Soooo good. My only complain is there is not enough hollandaise sauce. The fruit which comes on the side was also delic! Great customer service too. We will be back. read more

Service was great, hosts and servers were friendly and attentive, and did do their best to solve any issues with the experience, so I can't fault them at all for that aspect! Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. For $15, an eggs Benedict portion offered one slice of bacon, or slice of salmon (we had the red barn and west coast) per half of a bagel. The side is not any more filling, and was a few small pieces of fruit, half of which were not ripe. One of the Benny's also had both a hair, and pieces of eggshell in it. These are simply mistakes but fairly notable for a breakfast joint to keep an eye on, but forgivable. The short and sweet is that for the money, the breakfast portions are small, uninspired flavors, and we must have hit them on a bad day for the kitchen. For 15/plate, you can go to probably ten other breakfast spots in town and feel satisfied and excited about the food. read more

Really love all three of the Village restaurants. Locally owned, sourcing local foods, my fave is the Pro Salad w a bowl of homemade soup. Despite all the specials I order this every time. Never disappointed. Staff are really friendly and fast. Only wish the restaurants were a little bigger. Get there early for a table. read more

I've had breakfast here twice now and have enjoyed both of my meals. They were delicious and nicely presented. The staff was friendly and efficient. We sat in the patio seating on our second visit and enjoyed it as the inside seating is a bit small. A very quaint place to eat. read more
