    Matcha Lava
    Varsha T.

stopped by spot after having a great experience at the manhattan location. this place is right off the subway in a great location. i came here on my way to the lirr in jamaica. it's the same menu as the manhattan location. i tried the matcha lava cake, which is a chocolate lava cake with matcha sauce inside, served with a scoop of matcha ice cream. it was pretty good but also very sweet and very rich. the desserts are on the pricier side at around $15 each. one downside of this place is that everyone has to buy a dessert, which is why i've kind of why i steered away from coming back often. i came in on a weekday after the parade around 3 pm and was able to get a table. there was only one server, and service was a bit slow. the space is very clean with bathrooms available for guests.

The Spot Dessert Bar was very empty when I came in on a Saturday afternoon. It was literally right off the Queens Plaza train station in the corner with all glass windows. The whole place was roped off when I went inside. The waiter had to unrope my daughter and I to go inside and be seated at a table. The music in the background was too loud the whole time playing various Asian and English pop songs like you're in a karaoke or arcade center. All the tables were marble and organized close to each other. I felt like there was no privacy for small couples although the place was very good for large crowds with the many tables all placed together. I came here to try out the main dessert tapas. My daughter chose the Milky Puff and I chose the Harvest, which was the best seller because of the aesthetics. The Harvest looked so cool when I saw the waiter put it on our desk. It really looked like a small plant when in reality it was a bunch of chocolate dust covering the cake inside. The dust looked so much like soil. I did not eat the leaf though because it did not look edible. Inside the pot was strawberry chiffon cake. It was very small in size so I finished it quick. The raspberry sorbet sitting on the plate was very tart. My daughter and I found it very sour for my liking. I loved the crispy cornflakes and condensed milk ice cream in the Milky Puff. It tasted just like cornflake cereal with ice cream. The whole plate was very milky with bananas. My daughter loved the ice cream a lot! Overall, the 2 plates we got were a good hit. We finished them really fast though even though they were meant to be finished in a slow pace with time to hang out with family or friends. I loved how the waiter gave my daughter a plastic sippy cup so she wouldn't be able to break the glass. That was a nice gesture for toddlers. Bathrooms were clean and are with Japanese style toilets with 2 different buttons of strength to flush the toilet. I needed to ask the staff to open the door with a code.

Spot Dessert Bar has truly come a long way. I remember my first experience in the basement of the original St. Mark's location when I first tried their green tea tiramisu and it was sooo good! Then, they opened a second location on the same block that was more of a quick grab-and-go and didnt forget about the one of the highest level of the Gallery in KTown! Fast forward today, I mostly visit the one in Flushing, Queens since that's where I grew up and live. The location is definitely not as big as the Long Island City one which I really like. Funny thing, while heading to the Long Island City one I actually stumbled upon the Astoria location by accident. The Long Island City one is the most spacious, welcoming location with the most food and drink options. From the standard signature tapas, to seasonal limited time tapas, to cookies, to pastries, to cruffins, to ice-cream, to sorbets, to bubble teas, to hot teas, to coffees, and alcohol! My favorite from their signature tapas are definitely the Harvest and the Golden Toast. I can never decide which one out of the two to get. Ideally, I find someone else who likes those two and wants to share half and half with me. The Harvest is a unique soft cheesecake with Oreo crumbles in a pot with a side of milk tea and raspberry sorbet. It's a perfectly balance of sour tart and sweet/salty cheesecake. Very soft and easy to eat. The golden harvest is like a traditional French toast with honey butter, strawberries, and condensed milk Ice-Cream. The perfect combination between texture and taste. While all their tapas are one price, I like how they have combination deals when you buy multiple of a collection. My friends really like their other signature tapas like matcha Lava and cookie camp. For me, they're a bit too chocolatey. Spot does come up with seasonal, limited time menus as well! I've tried their Jasmine one last year but unfortunately they ran out of the Jasmine Ice-Cream. This year, I got to try their chrysanthemum Snow which is chrysanthemum flavored shaved ice with snow mushroom, goji berries, golden pears, and yuzu honey jam. It was unique and refreshing! I absolutely love shaved ice and anything chrysanthemum flavor. However, I would definitely ask for no snow mushroom and pears next time because I am not a huge fan of them. Aside from big dessert tapa plates, they also have light bites like Cruffin and cookies. I don't really like their Cruffin, but the cookies are bomb especially the caramel miso!! So gooood. A perfect balance between crispy and chewy and perfect sweetness. Spot Dessert Bar also caters so they can make smaller versions of their cookies and tapas which is really nice. Luckily, I got to sample their limited time Coffee Date. I'm not a coffee person but this is hands down one of my faves maybe even more than the Harvest and I hope it comes back. It's not very strong coffee flavor, but instead more of a butterscotch flavor. Usually butterscotch is very sweet, but this was perfectly balanced between cream and cake and dates crunchy texture. They are also exploring other flavors with their drinks - specially a matcha series. I cannot wait for it to launch soon! But everyone must try the banana cream matcha latte whether you like bananas or not. So creamy and nicely intertwined. Lastly, while I missed the opportunity to try their Jasmine Ice-Cream, I've had their condensed milk Ice-Cream, raspberry sorbet, coconut sorbet, and Vietnamese icecream. They are all very true to its flavor and perfectly textured. I love Spot Dessert! Will definitely be back for some of my favorites soon! FYI - The LIC location does have a restroom for its customers

Came here on a Friday night and honestly I don't know why I waited so long to come back. The last time I went to Spot Dessert Bar was years ago, but I just knew it would still hit and it definitely did! This was my first time at the LIC location. The menu has definitely been updated since the last time I went, so many good options it was actually hard to choose. We were torn between the honey toast and the cookie skillet, but ended up going with the classic honey toast... and no regrets! Staff was super friendly and attentive, and service was quick which made the whole experience even better!

    Iced honey yuzu tea
    Briana N.

I enjoyed this wayy more than I thought I would! The tea was really good. The honey yuzu is delicious on its own. I thought the jardin bleu could have been sweeter, but eating it with the sweet dessert was a great pairing and I appreciated the contrast. The golden toast was the perfect amount of fried, buttered, sweet, etc. And the ice cream on it just wrapped it up beautifully.

Ube-rri (take out) - Ube mousse, blueberry compote, ube chia panna cotta, blueberry white chocolate, fresh blueberries, Ube chiffon cake
    Kelly D.

Armed with the gift card from the recent Elite All-Star event I was ready to try another dish. The Ube-rri was packed with up with care and ready to take home. It arrived intact and still ready for the camera. There were several components of this dish that married ube and blueberry flavors in an elegant fashion. A white chocolate blueberry shell surrounded an ube mousse that housed fresh blueberries at the core. Pieces of ube chiffon cake were scattered at the perimeter. The cake had a stronger ube flavor than the mousse. I enjoyed the different layers and definitely would get again.

This place was delicious!! It was in the central part of queens plaza where a lot of trendy eateries are popping up. Service was fast. The desserts and both beautiful and really tasty. I'm not even much of a dessert person and I loved the black sesame basque cheesecake and matcha lava cake. Lots of Asian themed flavors! Ambiance is nice and we were seated quickly (weeknight evening). It's also open late. Only con was a strong floor cleaner smell in there but makes sense, it's a dessert place.

    Golden Toast

Finally tried the golden toast, can't believe I waited this long to try this dessert. It was so delicious, I can see why it's a favorite. I also ordered the oreo chocolate cookie and this was also very good, lots of chocolate which I love. Service was great, nice ambiance, and clean spot. Definitely coming back, still need to try the cookie camp and ube-rri.

    Seasonal ube dessert

Whenever Im craving dessert spot always hits the spot. They have seasonal desserts but my go to is always the milky puff and golden toast. Don't forget to try the cookies as well which are super delicious.

    Black sesame cheesecake
    Austin K.

Been here many times and the matcha lava cake and the golden toast are the best things on the menu. I tried the new black sesame basque cheesecake and this wasn't that good. The flavor comes out but the texture ends up being unpleasant and there was none of the caramelized flavor or texture of Basque top. We also got the milky puff and not my cup of tea since I don't like bananas in dessert but my friends enjoyed it enough. As an aside, I had 9 punches on my punch card and was going to redeem it today but they told me that it is expired and took it from me. They told me that they only do online accounts now. I wish they had at least given me the equivalent of the punch card on my account.

    The Harvest

We ordered the dessert and boba combo! The harvest was amazing and not too sweet. The cheesecake was light and fluffy! Unfortunately the boba tasted like powder and the tapioca was all melted together which made it hard to drink.

Came here on a Tuesday night after dinner at around 10pm. It wasn't too crowded, just two other parties at that time. Nice atmosphere to go to after dinner and accommodating to a large group. We ordered the Crysanthemem Snow. I didn't like it that much. I would give it a 3 stars but our host was really nice and recommended us the Omakase Set to save money which basically got us an extra dessert and 3 pastries. I did really enjoy the strawberries and creme Cruffin though. It was light and creamy.

Unfortunately, it was totally bland and not large at all. The side sauce added nothing and over 30$ with tax/tip. For entrees, we shared the lobster pasta and the guazzetto di Pesci. The pasta was good. Reasonable amount of pasta but we would have liked some more chunks of lobster for the price. I thought the sauce was only ok but my girlfriend liked it. The guazzetto di Pesci was only fair. The sauce was lacking flavor. Also a very small bowl of broth with maybe 3 small shrimp and muscles, a few small chunks of fish. and two sad, tiny pieces of bread on the side. Since we were still quite hungry after the meal, we ordered the lotus chocolate caramel dessert. This was the only dish we really liked. kinda hard to mess up gelato though. It came with a hard outer candy shell and a very small cookie center that was sweet and delicious. Overall, an average meal at best that we both felt was lacking in taste and size. Won't return.
