Great recommendation by a coworker! This little spot offers soft serve in a veriety of flavors along with milkshakes and some food items. The soft serve is so creamy that on a cloudy, rainy day, it began to melt fast, which shows how creamy and smooth it is. I highly recommend this as a dessert spot. read more

My husband is from PA and every time we come back I look for spots for the flavored soft serve!! The Spot is new to me but omg the ice cream is to die for!! I'm not even embarrassed for having two cones!! Lemon and peanut butter! The best part the girl didn't even make me feel bad for having two cones, I love her and her awesome attitude! This place is under new ownership and they're really making some nice improvements. There is a large selection of savory foods (hot dog, pierogi, some great cheese fries, etc) and an even bigger selection of ice cream - soft serve, milk shakes, sundaes. They recently restored a neon sign and have created a little park in the back to play cornhole and jenga. Ample picnic tables and seats allow for safe social distancing. Prices are reasonable. So today, after I got off work, me and my husband decided to stop by "The Spot" again, and order some of their hot food. And take pictures of the food (also pick up a paper menu from them) so I could do a proper review. So here is what we ordered: ME: California Burger (I asked for cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup and mustard) Onion Rings MY HUSBAND: Cheeseburger (he just wanted cheese and mayo) Cheese Fries And of course we tried some of each other's onion rings/fries. So here is my review on the food and the service. This time, there was a lady working there, and a young woman in the back as well. She was very nice and friendly. I asked her if I could take pictures of the menu for Yelp, and she said she would rather not... But instead, she offered me a paper menu, if I wanted to include that information online. And actually, I prefer the paper menu (because I can take it home and use it to order ahead for pick-up when I want to go back again), so I gladly accepted. The burgers are actually good--they were generous with the condiments, so they weren't dry or anything. And the patties were fresh cooked right in front of me. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. I think the cheese was the white kind, but I like both, so its all good. It was pretty tasty all round. I would have to say it's a decent quality burger, I mean given the choice, I would rather have this than Burger King. The onion rings were crisp and fresh. They had a nice flavor, and they are not too salty. They have more of the batter-type coating, instead of the corn meal (which is good, because I believe the batter type is more traditional anyhow). I tried a couple of hubby's cheese fries too, and they were good. The fries are those thicker restaurant style-cut ones, which are better for cheese fries. We didn't get any drinks because we don't have cup holders, and it was chilly out, so we were gonna go back home to eat anyhow, and we have plenty of beverages here. I really can't complain about anything. The food tastes good and its fresh. The service is quick and friendly. And it's a cute little place! Reasonably priced. I mean what's not to like? On a warmer day, I think I'll stop by and try some of their ice cream, but in general, I'm a happy customer. If you are a local, or traveling through, I would say give this place a try! read more

I drive by here all the time and finally decided to spot for ice creams with my niece. I asked if the flavors they have were just the ones written on the sign, she replied mumbled with a bad attitude. I don't even know what she said. We just got traditional soft serve twist and chocolate. The ice cream is really good. The other boy that ended up taking our old was super friendly. Not sure if I would go back, I prefer Richards drive in because everything is good and everyone is friendly to the customers. read more

When I went in fall it was great. They closed for the season I believe end of November and will not reopen until April at some point depending on weather. So it is not open currently but when we were there we spoke with owner and he was going to do upgrades and changes to it prior to re-open for next season and with the weather the way it has been I can understand why they have not gotten to do anything much. read more

The Spot Drive-In is one of the greatest remaining examples of traditional Americana left in the Lehigh Valley. The Spot operates on a seasonal schedule and is open during the late spring, summer, and early fall months. The Spot is located off of Rt. 191 between Bethlehem and Nazareth. Depending on the time of day, The Spot is usually crowded with a mix of people enjoying traditional fast food items and ice cream. The Spot offers counter service and there is a covered seating area. Personally, I have never eaten anything at The Spot besides ice cream but there are always a wide array of customers eating none dessert menu items so they must be doing something right. As far as the ice cream, they put out a quality soft ice cream product at a more reasonable price than many of the other ice cream stores in the Valley. If I could give zero stars I would.. I decided to bring my grandparents here for ice cream and ter taking them for lunch. I walked up to the counter and the miserable girl behind the counter didn't even say a word to me, not a hello not a what can I get you nothing she barely looked up from the counter.. I asked her for 4 cones in cups cause we were driving back home. She put 2 of them in cups and the other just handed to me I've never seen ice cream melt so fast it was all over us, hands shirts shorts my car.. the only thing she said to me was my total.. snatched the money from my hands, didn't say thank you... she was complaining about having to get up at 5 am she's exhausted maybe she shouldn't be serving people.. so rude I'll never go there again.. if my grandparents weren't with me I would've said something to her right then.. We have been going to the Spot for many many years. We are so impressed with what the new owners have done. Same great ice cream, shakes, food. But the service is quick, friendly and efficient. They have done WONDERS with the asthetics outside adding new and additional picnic tables, Jenga, Quoits, Corn hole. Re-paved and expanded the parking, beautiful new lighting and on and on. The new owners are outgoing, community oriented and friendly. And they have only just begun. They took a community treasure that had been around for decades and kicked it up a whole lot of notches. I visited The Spot for the first time after living in the Lehigh Valley for nearly 20 years. This place was absolutely amazing from the dessert to the service and the ambience. Not only was the ice cream delicious but it was served up by the friendliest crew of workers I've come across in a long time. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and truly professional. The best part was how the new owner personally greeted us as we were enjoying our treats. He came over, asked how everything was, ensuring we were treated respectfully and the food was to our satisfaction. Then proceeded to have a great conversation with us just chit chatting like we've known him for years. You don't get that kind of service in most places. I have stopped here twice and purchased iced cream once. I saw the food coming out and perhaps I shouldn't write a reviewon something I did not eat but I would not eat it. The fact I wouldn't eat it qualifies as a 1 star in my opinion. The iced cream is generic soft serve with generic syrups etc. The plus side is that it is very inexpensive and the owner now has Square so he will accept credit cards. read more

I have been eating at the spot at least 5-6 times during the temperate months since I was a young child , and well today I returned there with my elderly mother , and you know , the place is really yes " a diamond in the rough " . This is a no frills side of the road grill and saying that to some might be all they need to hear , see there are so very few good old side of the road grills left and to have such a palace of good (not fancy) food within local distance has been a staple for me for sure . the atmosphere is to some a little challenging , but I think many just find the noises of the busy corner seem to disappear in short order , the food is side of the road grill food , and if that doesn't have you licking your lips (it should) then you may have lead a far too sheltered life (hahaha no offense) . Today we ordered the pork bbq (a pulled pork in a light red sauce sandwich) with a little yellow mustard and a little relish (this seems to be a very hard one for most places around here to get right (others put way too much mustard and relish)) . Well they as always got it just perfect , just the right little amount of each and a masterpiece of a sandwich was born , I also ordered the chilli cheese fries , first time I actually ordered them there (I usually do not order this anywhere as the mess is not worth the taste) not here ! The fries were just awesome and easy to eat . Now of course there is the desert part to any good meal and still to this day , The Spot , comes across with a very good soft ice cream that to most who have tried it once find addictive and memorable , well I know of a few who have to go there just to get their soft ice cream fix . All and all I love the old school little places like this and these good folks have kept a truly good thing going since I was a little kid , and they are kind and very conscientious about the order too (if there is any doubt they call you up to the counter to verify so as to get it right the very first time ) . PS: In a world where service and quality have gone to the dogs , this is the odd ball and this here odd ball (that I am) will certainly be returning again and again . Stopped with the kids today. Not really impressed. We got ice cream and milkshakes. They're not bad just kids meh..... couldn't sample the flavors. My daughter & I were in the area & stopped at "The Spot" for a quick lunch. We're glad we did! The service was quick & friendly & the food was REALLY GOOD! We had the pork BarBQ, a California cheeseburger, onion rings & soft drinks. Everything was fresh & delicious. We just couldn't resist the soft serve ice cream- a cone for her & a sundae for me.
