How lucky to have such a great find in Sonoma! Located off the HWY just walking distance from the Fairmont Hotel and Spa, is SPREAD. Focused on Middle Eastern eats, this place is such a great spot for lunch and or take out. Today was perfect to enjoy their food in this heat! Everything is light and hearty with freshly prepared local ingredients. Today we ordered the Panzanella Salad, the baba ganoush (a dip that came with crudite, pita and pickled veggies), a wrap (that was loaded with beef shawarma) and a couple of drinks. After ordering at the counter we were given a number and told someone would bring our meal to us, to grab any spot we'd like on the patio. We sat outside under the shady trees and admired some of the cute local art they had adorning the area. Then our server brought out these beautiful plated dishes!! So colorful! I went with a friend whose parents were Lebanese, and who helped select our dinner. She particularly liked the baba ganoosh which had the proper smoked flavor and the dirty fries with kofta were excellent. Interestingly, there were no Californian wines on the wine list, so we tried the Lebanese wines which were very good and very reasonably priced. Five stars for food, four stars for ambiance and service. If I could, I'd rate it at 4-1/2 stars. (It's not a "fine dining" experience, but well worth a visit.) read more

Needed a food break from wine tasting in Sonoma and found this delicious farm fresh delicious stop. Great bowls, dips and takeaway items with a dog friendly patio! We had orange blossom lemonade, tumeric chicken bowl with quinoa tabuleh, mjedra, hummus and toum, falafels, kofta dirty fries and the combo dip platter which complimented the glass of Miners pinot rose perfectly ! The second we left, I told my husband "I want to come back tomorrow". We ordered the three combo hummus plate, chicken shawarma, lamb/beef kefta and the very, very special french fries full of middle eastern seasonings. We accompanied all with a lovely bottle of white wine from Greece. Through the entire meal we really felt transported to the foods origins. A flavor vacation from the so-so food in the center of town. The entire meal including the wine, was slightly under $100 before tip which is a gift for this taste sensation. In town, this would have easily been a $200 meal. Be advised, if you love Middle Eastern food, this will become an obsession! read more

I'm so happy that Sonoma finally has a good option for Lebanese style of food. Everything I've had is delicious and fresh. Their falafel is good, their chicken is great and I also love their Za'tar fries. The lamb/beef kofta is my least favorite, which surprised me as its usually my go-to. The kofta I'm familiar with is usually sliced thin, is usually very tender and there isn't much gaminess from the lamb, however the kofta I had here is in "meatball" form, isn't tender and had a bit of gaminess to it. This cuisine is just what the valley needed!Parking is still unconventional with this venue on residential side street but is not a deterrent for me. Bright, clean, inviting dining room but we will always opt for a patio when weather allows and theirs is sweet and spread out. Other tables conversations were not too close/distracting. Satisfies all of my personal check boxes of wide variety of pleasurable textures, temperatures, flavors, visually appealing with color and thoughtful plating, aromas that will get you to pause/savor your bites. Went with the family (4)... MIL and I both got the "BOWL" with "Mary's Chicken" side note: pickled veggies beautiful and tangy; FIL got the lamb and beef pita wrap; hubs got the beef salad; sides to share: za'atar fries (omg- whatever you usually order of fries elsewhere - double it... not because the portion is small- it's generous - they are just SO good any fry eater will easily take on more than usual; the Baba Ganoush was pleasant (not as Smokey/roasted flavor as I was expecting - but enjoyed it just as well) with the veggies and pita to dip: it's a yes again from all of us. Hubs has this habit of finishing off his parents meals they can never finish- so he tried everything (LOL) and said he liked the lamb pita wrap best - but absolutely everything was on point for him. Since it was a birthday diner we still managed to consider desert: the owner herself said the tahini brownies were below her standards and was not serving them tonight (such lovely transparency) - so 2 baklavas we gladly shared/enjoyed. I don't normally chose baklava - but this was not slimy nor too sweet- it WAS perfectly spiced and I could get it to my mouth without a trail of honey all over everywhere. I can't wait to go back and try the jackfruit shawarma with mixed mushrooms (will hope the brownies meet her serving standards when I go). Oh- I almost forgot we all shared a bag of the Urfa mixed nuts (I told you we were doing it up for a birthday dinner - so we came hungry ;-)) of course they did not disappoint - not on the menu - but prepackaged grab n go at register - so don't hold me to it if they don't have them. I appreciate the menu set up of mix and match your protein with your choice of delivery method: wrap or salad or grain bowl etc. Some day the "dirty fries" and I shall meet - probs after some summer day drinking ;) see ya there! read more

SO GOOD!!!! This was our first time at Spread and we were blown away. Every dish is delicious and they do a really good job of making every component of the dish special. We seriously almost shed a tear when we had the tahini brownies. Really appreciate how the menu is labeled clearly with gluten free and vegan as well. Cannot recommend highly enough! The food here is amazing and of high quality! I have been enjoying Spread Kitchen Sonoma, since they have been at the farmer's market on Fridays. All of the wraps I've tried at the restaurant are wonderful. The toum sauce is so good and goes well with everything! The salads and dips are also my favorite items! Sitting in the patio wondering if I did enough in life to justify enjoying the food this much and the mild day outside. I was riding my bike home after seeing a friend and decided to stop at the new Lebanese restaurant. Amazing layers of tastes. They had perfected pickling. I know it might sound odd but I became intrigued tasting the pickled veggies because they were so balanced, so good. A lot of pickled food is too sour for me but the pickling was balanced with the baba ganoush and humus and rice/lentil pilaf. I ate too much and now feel pain but the ingredients are so fresh I wont beat myself up about it. So glad I'm local. read more

The falafel fell apart immediately as the wrap wasn't able to hold the delicious 4 falafel balls. The worst was it was dry without enough tahini. The tahini was thinly spread on the pita- not nearly enough. The whole thing was just a jumble of admittedly good ingredients but not blended and held together by enough tahini or pita. This is why the real falafel places use a whole pita and cut a pocket in it. So sadly what would be great is ruined by the cheap count of tahini and bad concept of pita wrap. Bad presentation. A small dipping side of tahini would help if you want to hold everything together. The dirty fries are good and again, Ingredients are top notch. Pickled veggies delicious. Great beef. Fantastic strawberry lemonade. They just opened so hoping these minor but essential things will soon be corrected as it's not cheap. It is great to have well sourced Middle Eastern food in Sonoma. I am not in a habit of writing reviews -- this might be the first I wrote in the last 10 years. But this is a superb restaurant with wonderful friendly staff & fantastic food. We had them cater the first dinner of our family reunion for 19 people and everyone was quite impressed. All dishes were very tasty; some were actually exquisite. Our next dinner was from a much more expensive/acclaimed French restaurant but all the guests have later agreed that the SpreadKitchen was at least as good. Would (& hopefully will!) gladly order from them in the future. read more

First learned of Spread years ago through The Panel (wine shop), enjoyed Spread's food regularly for years when they were apart of the farmers market, but it was our last interaction that pushed me to write this review. I had a group of 10, mostly out of towners, coming in for a wine weekend and I offered to set up one day and have lunch available. We had gone back and forth on whether to use Spread or another vendor, and the group had been leaning slightly more towards the other place (Italian) that we were planning on eating at one of our wine tastings to pair with the wine. To our surprise, the other vendor was closed unexpectantly and thank goodness I had a back up idea! I called Cristina the night before and she was awesome, giving me suggestions on what we could do and we ended up with an amazing "spread" and EVERYONE loved it. It was so easy to set up and the food (as usual) was amazing! I had been stressing about ordering from the other place, as while I love the food, it's not a fast place and I'm so glad this worked out this way as they just made everything so easy and everything was ready to go when we go there and bagged well for transport. We ordered several of the appetizers (stuffed grape leaves, dips) and wraps (chicken, beef-lamb, falafel) and everyone was very pleased!
