I thought perhaps this restaurant was over rated but indeed it is not. Nice smallish space inside, much larger nice space outside. Neat as a pin, tiny open kitchen cranking out some awesome food. Of course we ordered too much to try a wider of variety of things but the leftovers will be fantastic no doubt. Ordered a Dip Plate and the Dirty Fries and really could have sopped there. The Dirty Fries were very very tasty and the Baba Ganoush and Muhammara we ordered with the Dip Plate were excellent. Lots of Pita quarters to go along with those sauces. Service was very friendly and amazingly fast. I ordered the local style Lavash Wrap with Lamb Kofta and Tahini Yoghurt sauce and it was extremely good; took half home. The pickled veggies were all outstanding. The other three ordered Grain Bowls, two with Lamb Kofta and one with turmeric chicken with toum. All were delicious with plenty for the next day. The Moroccan red wine we ordered was very dry so perfect with the spicy (but not too spicy) food. A Sonoma gem for sure. Brisk takeout business. Parking is difficult unless you opt for the small public parking lot a block South which is what we did; underused parking lot so parking is not an issue. We will be back.

Dined at Spread Kitchen for dinner with my family and I have to admit I was disappointed. When we first got our water, my sister poured from the glass bottle and noticed food particles in it. After that, she and my mom ordered tea instead, while I stuck with water. The service was also underwhelming. We were rarely checked on and service felt pretentious. We ordered a mix of the dips and those were definitely the highlight. I loved the eggplant dip and the hummus, while my family especially enjoyed the red pepper and feta dip. Unfortunately, the bread did not taste homemade or fresh and was slightly stale. The falafel and dirty fries were delicious, and the Brussels sprouts were very tasty as well, though the portion was extremely small.

Everything was an 11 out of 10!!! From the hospitality of the chef and wait staff to the cozy shaded outdoor patio to the amazing flavors, they are overachieving on every level. The hummus and baba ganoush were an amazing study in complex flavors and beautiful silky texture. The pita chips were perfectly spiced with za'tar and irresistibly crunchy. The Brussels were crispy and roasted to perfection. The lavash wrap had amazingly fresh and pickled veggies that perfectly complement the lamb kofta. Get it "local style" to add hummus and house made hot sauce! Can't use enough hyperbolic words to convey how pleasurable it was to dine here. The chef was just recently featured on Flavortown Foodfight and delivered even better results on her home turf. Can't wait to eat here again and try more amazing dishes!!! Parking is readily available on the side of the building.

Peaceful patio dining and a gorgeous sunset dinner (although I can't give the restaurant credit for the clouds haha). My favorite was the baba ganoush and the brussel sprouts. And I believe the menu says all the meats are Halal! Staff was very generous with refilling our iced mint tea. A great spot for sharing plates with your loved ones!

It pays to get off the square where you can find more imaginative fare like this. This place does not have much of a street presence and the parking can be tough but it's worth it. Cute, rustic outdoor seating. Waitresses are nice and took some time with us. Mediterranean food was visually stunning and delicious. Serving are huge. You could split some stuff

When a place is recommended to me twice in the space of an hour, I know I have to try it. When my friend heard I was going to Sonoma, her first thought was that I should go to Spread Kitchen and my friend in Sonoma also referred to it as a favorite in his group. For those looking for flavorful vegan options, this is one of the best vegan/vegetarian-friendly menus I've seen in a long time. While halal meat and protein can be added to most dishes, they're easily avoided and nothing seems to lacking as a result. While I was tempted by the dips, veggie maze options and wraps, I ended up opting for their roasted beet fattoush and my son ordered their dirty fries. The turmeric chicken with toum (a Lebanese condiment made with fresh garlic and magic fairy dust I presume, was incredibly tender. Toum isn't like anything I've had before. It was obviously fresh and has a delicate, mild flavor. I had to reread the menu to remember that it has a garlic base. The pita chips were housemade and dusted with seasonings. My son's dirty fries were a generous serving and we both had tea to accompany our meals: a caffeinated mint for me and organic chai for him. Our server, Nicole, kindly brought my son more hot water too when he finished his initial cup. We indulged in their rice pudding as well, which has cardamom and nuts, almonds I think. It's beautifully garnished and served cold. The service is casual, but we didn't have to wait to be greeted or served. The food came quickly and it seems like most of the items on the menu are also well suited to take out. A number of their dips are available in carry out containers. They have a small dining room with a half dozen small tables, plus an outdoor patio, which we didn't explore since it was a rather cold February evening, but plenty of people seemed to have accepted seating outside. I'll definitely be back! I want to explore many of the other items on the menu! Thanks to my friends for the recommendation. This was my first foray into Lebanese food, but I'm looking forward to the next!

I've been here at least ten times. The food, service, and ambiance are always top notch. Get all the dips, the grain bowls, and wraps! The owner came out to chat. Such an amazing gem. Our waitress, Allison, was terrific!

Spread is officially our new favorite restaurant. A coworker introduced me to it, and I had to check it out the very next day. I'm so glad I did. My partner and I shared falafel, dips with pickled veggies, dirty fries, rose and the chicken wrap. Everything was perfection, bursting with flavor, fresh, and so thoughtfully done. The service was 10/10 and the garden patio was absolutely adorable. We loved every minute of our visit and are already planning to bring our daughter next time. Can't wait to come back!

A group of us had a late lunch at Spread Kitchen to celebrate a friend's birthday after a morning of wine tasting. For most of us it was our first time visiting, and the servers were friendly and patient, answering questions and offering suggestions. We had a reservation and were seated in the back garden patio, which was such a pleasant spot on a sunny day. The trees provided natural shade and there were cute decorative items hanging along the walls and branches (for sale, I think). We ordered a couple of dip plates and apps to share across the tables. My husband and I split a grain bowl with chicken plus a side of lamb kofta, and the portions ended up being just right for the two of us. And of course we had to finish with dessert - their homemade baklava was the perfect sweet ending. Would happily return.

Spread is a cozy Mediterranean restaurant in Sonoma. I stopped by on a weeknight evening, and even though it's not a big place, it has a warm, welcoming vibe -- and the service was very fast. I ordered the grain bowl with chicken, and the portion was huge. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the hummus was tasty. One of the highlights for me: plenty of gluten-free options, including pita bread and even dessert! A big plus for anyone with dietary restrictions. There's a small parking lot right next to the restaurant, which makes things convenient.

Last day in town and our brothers-in-law treated us to lunch at this establishment. We selected an outside table and it was nicely shaded. We selected wraps (three different options) and I added the Vegan Dirty Fries. The service was perfect and our selections arrived quickly. My wife ordered the Kolsch to try and I had an iced tea variation with peaches. All in $125

Very refreshing dips with the most amazing falafel! I'm so glad Spread Kitchen offers smaller sized dips with all the different flavor profiles. They go through each spread by detail. All of them were super refreshing. I would highly recommend to order a side dish of the falafel. I already can't wait to be back for another visit and try more items from the menu!

What a gem - I ended up visiting this place twice on my trip to Sonoma. The backyard patio is cute and shaded enough for a hot day. There is also limited seating inside the restaurant. The food itself came quick after we ordered at the counter. Fresh, flavorful, and colorful. Every bite was a delight - the vegetarian falafel bowl was a great portion, almost enough for 2 people. The 3 dip mezze was also a great choice. My favorite was the muhammara and the feta beet dip my last. Every vegetable in the bowl felt as if it was sourced from a Farmers Market - from light green snappy bell peppers to sweet tomatoes that just popped in your mouth. I recommend this as a staple on everyones list.

The biggest issue was that a mandatory 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. If you're going to require guests to pay a 20% tip regardless of the experience, the service should at least meet that standard. Unfortunately, it didn't. Our server, Chloe, seemed far more occupied with spending time in the kitchen or attending to guests seated outside than checking on our table. We were dining inside, where the restaurant was nearly empty, yet she would disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time, leaving us with no way to ask for refills, order additional drinks, or get simple questions answered. To make matters worse, our wine glasses arrived visibly dirty. We pointed it out, but they were never replaced. That's a basic service expectation at any restaurant, especially one at this price point. She also volunteered recommendations for her "favorite" dishes, despite us never asking for suggestions--and they happened to be among the most expensive items on the menu. It felt more like upselling than genuine hospitality. The kitchen deserves credit because the food was genuinely very good. But great food can't make up for inattentive service, especially when guests have no choice but to pay a mandatory 20% gratuity. If Layla is going to automatically add a 20% tip, then they should ensure the service earns it--not simply collect it regardless of how poor the experience is.

I honestly cannot believe I am writing this review because this experience was so outrageous that…read moreit sounds made up. My mother went to Tarla yesterday with her best friend and ordered a couple of appetizers, which they actually enjoyed. Unfortunately, things took a very different turn when she ordered the crab sandwich and it came out with a brown color to it. When she took a bite, the taste was so awful that she immediately rejected it and could not swallow it. She politely brought this to the server's attention because she genuinely thought there might be something wrong with the food. The server responded with something along the lines of, "Hold onto your pants," and walked away. About 15 minutes later, the cook/chef came over. What happened next was completely unacceptable. Instead of simply listening to my mother's concern, the cook became extremely upset and began raising her voice at my mother in front of the entire restaurant. She told my mother that she "doesn't understand young people's food" because she is older. What makes that statement even more ridiculous is that my mother has 45 YEARS of experience working in the restaurant industry and managing restaurants in Napa Valley. She understands food, restaurants, and restaurant operations extremely well. My sister also worked at this restaurant as a server for quite a long time, so our family is very familiar with the restaurant and the industry. We are not people who walk into a restaurant looking for something to complain about. My mother calmly asked what exactly she supposedly didn't understand. The cook then explained that the crab was pasteurized. When my mother asked if that meant it was cooked, she said yes and then proceeded to tell her that the crab came from a can. "We just opened up a new can, nothing is wrong" Again, the issue was never that the crab was canned or pasteurized. If that is how the restaurant chooses to prepare and serve its food, that is their choice. The issue was that my mother took one bite, became sick from the taste, and politely asked about it. She deserved to have her concern heard without being belittled. By the end of the interaction, my mother said the cook was raising her voice so loudly that the entire restaurant was staring at them. She felt completely humiliated and was made to feel as though she was stupid and simply didn't understand what she was talking about. She absolutely understands what she was talking about. After 45 years in the restaurant business, being publicly spoken down to and made to feel ignorant about food by someone who was supposed to be addressing a customer's concern is incredibly disrespectful. The appetizers were good, but no food is worth being treated this way. A customer should be able to say, "Something tastes wrong to me," without being embarrassed in front of an entire dining room. This wasn't about the crab. It was about basic respect and how a customer was treated when she raised a legitimate concern. update: shes been violently sick all morning.
